Good idea, poor execution
I’m not impressed with the BYU Computer Science department - assuming that’s who makes all this LDS software. This app would be great if it was easier to navigate, and especially if the channels’ description meant anything. If you wanna hear music go to the music channel. If you wanna hear music you can also go to the Talk channel because that’s all they play on there too. They laugh at the people who turn to the talk channel thinking they might hear an uplifting talk from the general authorities or some nice interview. NOPE! literally every time I listen to that Talk channel it’s “MUSIC and the Spoken Word”. At least there’s a little talking in that. Usually it’s not very spiritual though. Just today I turned it on and guess what was on? Organ music! Without even any singing or lyrics!!! It hangs a lot on videos and stops and starts on audio. It’s really a beta test with a content manager that has no clue what the word “talk” means.
This ap helps me every day to start of right! I am able to listen to inspiring words that will help me have the spirit to guide me during the day. I listen while getting ready, driving, cooking, and more! It's great for those on the go days and helps make the most of the time you have! Highly recommended! The only thing I wish it had was a little checkmark or something to show I have already listened to something. There is so much amazing content and it's not bad to listen to thing same things again, but if you are trying to complete a certain area and listen to them all it's easy to get mixed up. Go download this ap! :)
Needs some improvement
I wish you were able to create a playlist. You used to be able to do that on the app, then it updated and now you can’t. It would also be nice if we got the playlist feature if we could add stuff in whatever order we want and not in newly posted at the top. It made it hard for the podcasts that were in a story line to listen to them in order. I don’t like how it’s not easy to tell what you have and haven’t listed too. I liked the previous layout of the app better and thought it was more user friendly.
Great App Except for One Bug
I love all of the new content in the new app. But, when viewing full-screen video content in the app, pressing the close button closes the content but then reopens it. You have to kill the app if you want to go back to the home screen. Other than this little issue, the app design and reliability is pretty decent. I’m running the iOS version of the app.
Roku app lacks needed play all feature
Can you please please add a ‘play all’ feature in the scripture stories (the videos that are straight out of the scripture stories books) in the Roku app? I hate that I have to sit there and turn on each one, my kids would watch them much more often if we could just start it and go!!!
Lds church channels
I love the lds church channels because I can get the scriptures and music and even get to listen to general conference all the time from when I’am going to church, or even going on long day road trips too. So I am going to give this a 5 star rating. And a special thank you to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!
Missing scripture stories
We love this app and use it frequently on our mobile devices, tablets, and Roku. It seems the last update removed easy access to the scripture stories with a group of children discussing the story. My children are bummed since they listened to them each day during their “quiet time.”
Many talks specifically by the general authority or apostles will not load or down load properly. It will show the talk you select it it goes to the page but will never play the time stays at 0 and does nothing. Also many times if I download a audio talk or video it just won’t work. It shows its good but fails to play at all even if I delete it and re download it multiple times.
I enjoy all the content but it drives me crazy when I have only partially listened to a session that I have to search for that particular program all over again I wish I could open the app and would see the exact program I left off on.
Consistently Fails to Live Stream
For years my family has tried to Stream general conference, either audio or video, using this app. Having not use the app in about a year, I tried it again for October 2017 conference. Again it did not stream properly, in fact I would say it did not strange at all. Audio would come through in bursts every 5 to 10 seconds and would be played at a rate so fast, it was not able to understand.
Needs major updates
The player will in this app fails to function correctly. It delays play, gets stuck in player mode after audio episodes are played, when I close the app completely and open it up again hoping it’s will reset the app. I have to turn off my phone and turn it back on again only then will the app restart.
Great app, needs more options
This app is great and is frequently used in my home. Would love the option to cast audio or video. I have several Google home speakers and I would love to be able to cast Conference throughout my home or play music in a similar way.
Music cuts out a lot
I like to listen to the radio stations throughout my day but at least every minute or so the sound cuts out and it becomes annoying. I had the app installed before and it did it then too, I then deleted the app, I've just reinstalled and it's still doing it all the time.
I didn’t realize the difference between an app on Apple TV and the Apple TV app. This channel is nowhere to be found on the Apple TV app on my new smart tv, so I’m guessing it is only offered as an app on an Apple TV, Roku, ect... Still enjoying this app on iPad, although it does seem harder to navigate.
Strong to quite strong!
We frequently use this app to hear and see the Good Word. The user interface is solid and content is strong. I recommend it to all.
