Don't Bother

Waste of time....It has a free 14 day "trial", too many instructions. It is not a direct app, it sends you to a safari page.

Last update was 9 years ago. Bummer.
Once Great but now old and not improving

Wish the developer would consider adding more features. Oh well still works well and decent for the price.
this is not a one stop app to setup remote desktop for you. This is a simple dumb rdp client so you need to know how to setup the server portion. If you can't do this try logmein or teamviewer hd
I have stopped using this due to lack improvements. Much better free ipad rdp clients out now.
iAds are an unwelcome addition
2022-09-02
by T. Roussell
It's a great app, but the addition of iAds detracts from iRdesktop . They're just in the connection screen and not shown during the actual session (yet) but it's still very annoying, especially since this is a commercial company that sells a MS Terminal server replacement and this is their only client for the iDevices. Also, in future versions I'd like to see native iPhone 3 and 4, iPod touch, and iPad screen resolutions as an option so you don't have to scroll in the session. I have some windows apps that match the resolution of the iDevices but I'm not able to select a matching resolution in iRD so when I connect and run those apps I have a lot of unused desktop that scrolls around while trying to use iRdesktop . Perhaps a 'lock screen' switch would be nice to stop unwarranted movement .
switching from portrait mode to landscape freezes iRdesktop if displaying at the default 640x480 on an iphone 6s plus 128gb. App unusable
Needs to be updated

Itβs a great app but it does not work on IOS 11. Would give it a 5 star if it did!
Not bad

Annoying ads on the home page are acceptable for a free product, especially since they go away when your actually in the remote client.
The setup doesn't automatically use the hostname as the title as on the other RDP apps I've used, and if you assume it does you end up with a blank line in your index.
Once in the RDP session the host was responsive using 100s vs 1000s of colors.
I liked being able to switch between multiple sessions, hadn't seen that on the other client apps I use. Will have to look for it now on them.
A major problem with iRdesktop was that it didn't refresh the screen consistently. For example I applied security patches on a server and when I closed the window the screen appeared to refresh every other line, leaving a weird ghost image. After opening and closing a couple more windows the ghost images started stacking up.
Like I said, this is a good application, but has some issues that I'm not willing to put up with. I prefer to use a paid app, iTap RDP at this time, but will definitely keep an eye on this one. Actually, I'll keep it installed and see what kind of and the frequency of updates it gets.
I'm an IT professional and am currently piloting iPad deployments for our managers, and still think this one has some promising features, and is easy to use for computer illiterate managers ;)
Doesn't work for left handed people

If you have the mouse buttons switched on the pc, which most left handers do, then you can't double-click using iRdesktop. I sent an email to the developer of iRdesktop about this, but never got a response.
Other than that, this is a great free app to remote to pcs with built in RDC. If the developer would make it work when the pc mouse buttons were reversed, I would give it 5 stars
Great app!!

I use winadmin, but this is free and I can use windows key. What I would like to see is 1. A way to drag windows that may load half off the screen ( like drag and drop) and that feature would be nice, 2. Add arrow keys to keyboard did not see any on the keyboard. And this would be a 5 star app. Hold down for right click seemed to kinda work could not get it to work all the time. This was all used with the VPN connection. Please add atl, ctrl, delete to keyboard or the ability to create custom hotkeys, need some key commands for VMware that I use RDP for.
I may be the ultimate in lazy, but I was looking for a free terminal services app like this merely so that I could manipulate or shut down my workstation from another room in the house (i.e., on the same LAN). For this, at least, iRdesktop is flawless. Display is great and performance is excellent. Surprisingly easy to manipulate the Windows desktop using the iPhone!
I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise x64 (RTM) with no issues.
Thanks for this great and useful freebie!
Great, effective app

I've been using this for 2+ years on my iPhone 3GS and I've never had a problem. Does what it says - simple, easy, effective remote software.
Works with Windows 2008 R2 64-bit!

Excellent app! I just downloaded this free up and tested it by remoting into my home box which runs Windows 2008 R2 64-bit. Much to my surprise it works!!! You can zoom in and out by doing the usual pinching gesture. When browsing a page that requires you to scroll up or down it's a little tricky as you have to be zoomed in enough to double-tap the scrollbars in order to drag it. Tested iRdesktop with 3G connection both at 640x480 and 1024x768 (in low colors) and it works. Really well done for a free app. You couldn't ask for anything more.
Awesome ! Connects fast, works like a charm, feature rich !

To start off I dont get why its getting a bad rating. Its a ***** (5 STAR) application. I was using Mocha's Remote Desktop Lite for some time which seemed a good free RDP app. However, this one beats it hands down. Right Click function, 16 bit color compared to 8 bit of Mocha's, multiple connection tabs, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Windows Key, Drag & Drop Operations. Seriously what else do you need to do from a 3.5 inch screen ? Compared to the paid ones (Jaadu ($25), etc.) this is FREE. [I think the only people giving it a bad rating are those who are unable to configure their router/firewall.]
Works great

Why do people give this program a low rating when they can't figure out how to set up remote desktop or port forwarding on their computer/network? This is a remote desktop CLIENT, if you don't know how to set up or use remote desktop period, consult your Windows documentation. You don't see people giving iSSH a low rating because they don't know how to set up an SSH server on their home computer.
That said, this is a great RD client, works better and faster than the other free RD clients available on the iPhone.
Very simple and basic interface. I was on my server within 2 minutes of downloading. Connected flawlessly to win server 2003 x 64. Able to open and view and even edit everything including large excel spreadsheets and word docs. It even opened and viewed a huge database, although it did crash and close once when I attempted to add some data. When it crashed it left the session open and I could not reconnect until I logged on from my laptop and closed that session. But I was surprised it could even view that database so I'm not complaining. For free this is a sweet little program.
Great RDP app

I couldn't believe iRdesktop was free when I downloaded it, I thought there must be some catch. So I was very surprised that it worked as advertised with my Vista Business machine. Connection via WiFi network is very fast and responsive (didn't test it through 3G yet) and the user interface is very intuitive with the same gestures as in Safari: pinch to zoom in and out, drag to pan around, tap to click and tap-and-hold to right click. Selecting small items is sometimes difficult (this is expected, as Windows is not optimized for small touch screens) but you can always zoom in for better precision. Landscape mode is a welcome feature.
There is only one significant issue: international keyboards are not supported and produce question marks. I hope this will be addressed in future versions. Another suggestion is to hide the status bar to increase usable screen area.

Amazing app

iRdesktop is amazing. If only we could avoid the ads, I would even pay for iRdesktop .
I can use this to connect to servers at work and my home PCs. It rocks. I considered giving 4 stars instead of 5 because the keyboard doesn't have arrow keys, and dragging a scrollbar down/up doesn't appear to work for me, but for the price this program is absolutely peerless. I think the 1 and 2 star reviews are from people who really have no business using a terminal services application. If you don't know what version of windows you are running, or don't know how to open ports on your firewall and set up port forwarding on your home router, you do not need iRdesktop or any other app like it, since those are prereqs for making this work.
