Doesn’t Work
2022-05-21
by KatieKins1993
Would have been very convenient if it worked. The phone number itself works, you listen to the ad and then enter the number. However, slydial is garbage. Even with a paid subscription, you still listen to the ad and then it hangs up on you and tells you the number isn’t a valid 10 digit number.
No response from customer service. Hoping that apple will give me my money back.
It was good

So if i manually type it all in i can do it free with ads, but it's impossible to put ads in slydial and in the call? See if i were without slydial i would want the premium because i'm already taking enough time to type in the 2 numbers. With slydial i don't care if i see ads in slydial or hear them before the call. plus with slydial they could offer a free version and advertise the crap out of it to subsidize the cost. I guess I just rather inconvenience my friends when they're busy than spend money on something that is not a necessity. It'll get a good rating from me when they stop trying to nickel and dime iPhone users. It's fine with me if they still want to take blackberry and windows mobile users money though. lol
Doesn’t work anymore

BAIT & SWITCH ALERT! [ This is now a PAID service! ]

by App Reviewer 007
I tried the this app app when it was free with ads; it worked around 50% of the time. Many times saying that it could not connect.
I don't have a problem with this app charging .10 per this app but having to plunk down $10 to “pre-pay” for a service that I will use by rarely is a bit ridiculous.
There is no mention at what point the "pre-paid amount" expires or if the balance is refundable if you cancel. It was purposefully priced at $2.95/month or $10 for the pre-pay so people would balk at spending the $10 and go for the monthly for only $2.95. There is also no “clear way to cancel” so even if you did wish to cancel that looks to be a hassle as well then you need up keeping the services and over paying until you can figure out how to cancel it.
You need to adjust your “pre-pay pricing” $2.50 - $5.00 is at least reasonable, that’s 25-50 this app calls at .10 each and if people like it they can add more or have it automatically re-billed or cancel.
Fix it, let me know and I will re-evaluate your app.
As it stands now you get one Star for the idea but - 4 STARS for the “BAIT & SWITCH and MISLEADING PRICING"
I think you’re grossly over estimating your products worth on the open market, most people will use your product on rare occasions. I would use it so I could leave a message when I know someone can’t be bothered and I don’t wish to disturb him or her but want to leave a quick voice mail.
Great At First But Now A Waste of Space On My iPhone

I used this app for months before getting slydial by just dialing their 267 number and entering the number of the person I want to reach. When I first got slydial it was great because I could use it without having to remember the number of the person I was calling (uses the contact list from the phone); however, now they require anyone using slydial to pay a fee for the service. This seems like quite a rip off since anyone can dial the 267 number listed on their site and they don't have to pay a cent, yet anyone using their app has to pay a fee. I would be much happier to pay a fee for slydial , at least then I would know what I am getting into before installing a new app to my phone.
It used to work properly

A few years back slydial used to work properly, easy to use, If you had free version you just dialed a number listening to an add for about 10 to 15 seconds then record your voice message send your done. Now every time your dial a number it tell you to dial a valid number.
Some Very Serious Problems

Downloaded to my wife’s iPhone 5C and used it to call my iPhone 4S, both running current IOS. When I called my wife’s number her phone rang normally and showed the identity screen of my calling. After a few rings I answered and basically slydial had no effect at all on the call proceeding normally. Figured I would try it again. This time the called phone (the 4S) rang one time and briefly showed the caller screen and then hung up the phone call. Voice Mail was never reached. So I Then reversed the procedure and used my iPhone 4S to call my wife’s iPhone 5C. This time slydial did work and the call did not ring on the 5C nor was it shown on the caller ID screen. So it apparently will not work if used to call a iPhone 4S. Not good at all unless you know what model iPhone you are calling. This also explain the discrepancies in the reviews here. There is also one other caveat. In the Recent Calls screen on the iPhone 5C it actually shows that you were called by “this app.” In the Recent Calls screen on the 4S (which did not work) it shows the phone number of the this app server and I don’t think that is too great either. If you are using slydial with anything approaching an important reason to maintain the secrecy of you having called it is best to trash slydial and not to use it.
Just downloaded slydial with some hezitatation after seeing all the negative reviews. Ran slydial and called my Sprint line to test. Works as advertised. My call went right to voicemail fast as lightening. No long waits, weird messagaes, or hangups. I dialed the number and was told I was calling that person's mailbox. I heard my greeting and left a message. Easy as pie. Can't believe it's free and works so well. Easy way to build a user base. Good work guys! Nice clean app!!
Update:
I'm really annoyed. When I get a free trial I want to know about it up front. No one likes a whammy when they are using something they were told was free. Now I'm motivated to use a competitor. Nice app, poorly executed business plan. I'm going shopping for someone else or go without. No thanks this app.
Great!

Once again independant developers come through with an app is so simple, yet so useful you wonder how you managed without it before this. Back door voice mail is something that should have been included with the iPhone as it is with many cheaper phones, and also the new blackberry storm. I can't give it a full 5 stars until we are able to record on the iPhone itself and send instantly to a desired contact, but the existing interface and integration with contacts is subperb. Thanks so much to the developers! GREAT APP!
**UPDATE** After some use with slydial I had to lower my rating. It is still a great tool but there are still some things that bother me, namely the integration of ads before being able to leave a message. I realize slydial is free, but I'd rather pay a buck and not be bothered. Also, occasionally the person you are slydialing will get a ring on their end, which kind of defeats the purpose of slydial.
Works great

Came across this when searching the net for ways to call someones phone and go direct to voicemail. When I tried their actual number on my phone (which worked great) they mentioned they had an iPhone app. I immediatly downloaded it and used it to call a customer that loves to talk way to much and tell them their computer was ready. I can see me using this to avoid talking to the pains in my life. Its not that I am anti-social it is just that I hate talking to some people when I work on their computers. Also some of my friends and family are a bit long winded and if I just want to tell them something quickly I get stuck on the phone with them. This beats a text message as the person will think you tried to call.
More people use landlines

For what slydial is made to do and for what it says it does, its a decent app. I would say 40% of the time it could not connect to a cell phone number. And of course 100% of the time it does not connect landlines.
I run a video company and i call businesses all day trying to get video work. Today I called 55 and 90% of them were landlines and 10% were cell. However i only got to leave a message for 60% of the 10% so i only left a message for 6% of 55 business calls.
I think this is better for personal phone messages but not for businesses like mine. I deleted slydial since it can not help me in my own situation. But i did like slydial for its intended purpose with cell phones.
Awesome App! Stop your whining!

I am not sure what everyone's complaining about. I use slydial with the Premium service and it works great! Instead of having to have long conversations now I can just leave a quick voicemail. I don't know... I could see if slydial didn't do what it says it does that is one thing but to just keep complaining about them charging now... come on! slydial and service is definitely worth paying for. They even let you register a second phone number under the same account. So now I use this app from my home phone too! Great service... keep on rockin...
I wanted to put a review in on the heels of RV Kris but from a different perspective. I’m a single man and sometimes calling a girl and letting her know where I am, why I haven’t called or that I’m thinking about her works wonders rather than getting tied up on the phone in a long conversation. It’s a great tool if you want to appear to care, save time, encourage somebody, tell them you’re thinking about them without having to tie yourself up on the phone. I love it and it’s great. I actually do care but pretend that i really care and I’m thinking about her and I called but darn i missed you on the phone but did you get my message darling? Sometimes these darn cell phones don’t get the message to you until hours later... lol
Excellent application!

A buddy told me about this app, and I literally just started using it 2 days ago before it became an iPhone app. Before slydial, the caller would have to dial the this app phone #, listen to a brief ad, then dial the phone number of the contact you are trying to leave a VM for... Which was still cool but took some time, especially if you were driving. Now you literally open the this app app, select the contact directly from your contacts, then it's straight to voicemail! Excellent app to avoid long drawn out conversations! Might not work on contacts that have prepaid plans as the original this app process didn't appear too either. I HIGHLY reccomend slydial to anyone that is constantly on the go without the time to return calls all the time or even the slick cats that just want to claim that they "tried return your call." ECS, thanks for adding to my app collection and this app, thank you for bringing this gem to the iPhone. Download slydial now and check your voicemail!

How awsum would it be if people would just read the fine print and QUIT whi ning about the insignificant premium required to use this service??its not like mobilesphere DOESNT have a FREE ad based service for u to use!!! But I can see just as many people complain about THAT too!! Sorry misers-nothings FREE!! And u dont NEED this app....youre so cheep nobodys takin yr calls anyway!! If u want a fabulous time saving way to call people and say what you gotta- when you wanna....this app saves the day! Its a GREAT DEAL when you subscribe and discover all the ways it makes life better!! They have a pay as u go option if u are still not sure, Try It...You'll LOVE It!! UPDATE:Despite a landslide of whiners-I stil cant live without slydial. Make it easy on yrself:SUBSCRIBE! Its cheep and brings your calls much closer to the standard Ive known them to offer for over 3 years! The connection to this app is always kinda quiet but yr actual connection to yr receipients VM box is clear and audio quality normal. If u get in jams as much as I do-this app lends a great deal of authenticity to the way you explain yr way out. Its not YOUR FAULT that they DIDNT ANSWER!! ;) lol

slydial worked great with my Blackberry and great with the iPhone. I use it daily to get voice messages to people who may be in meetings with clients or any where else they may not want there phone to ring.
As for the recurring charges so many are complaining about, this app is providing a service. When you place a sly call, you actually call this app and pass along the number you want to leave a MSG to. They then call the number you gave them in a way the goes right to the mailbox and patch you through. This all happens automatically, so people don't know it's going on. Every sly call you make costs them money and they need to get that money back.
There appears to be a big difference between the Blackberry user who looks at things from a business standpoint, and the iPhone user who looks at apps as cool toys. To the business user this is a very inexpensive charge for what you get. To the iPhone user, if they ask their mother for money for slydial they may not be able to get the money for a game later on. Maybe instead of asking your mother, you should try your father.

Great communication app. Very useful for when you just want to relay a message with a personal touch.
I noticed all of the negative reviews on slydial and had to chime in. I’ve been using it for at least a couple of years now and it has truly changed my life. There are so many occasions when I need to just convey information but don’t want to get tied up in a long conversation with someone. I also can call to let someone know I’m just thinking about them, or give them an encouraging word, without getting hung up in a conversation. It has been a great timesaver for me. I use it on a very regular basis. The free version does have annoying ads, but that’s why it’s free. I very quickly changed to the premium version and it’s worth every penny for me. When I got my iPhone X I did have a glitch and simply removed slydial from my phone, then reinstalled it. The problem was solved.
Garbage And They Don’t Care

I have been a paying user of slydial for several months. slydial worked awesome until one day it only gave errors. I called for support and they said that I would have to dial the main number and that was that. I’m all for understanding that iOS may change, they need to update and wait for approval but it’s been about 3 months at this point. ADDITIONALLY, it sometimes says the number is a landline and will not connect when I know for a fact that is not true.
Sweet app! Wish it actually worked.......

Never works. I know I'm calling a cell phone but it will still say it can't connect because it's a landline. I'll try the same number again and it will simply say it couldn't connect to the VM (not that it's a landline)... so slydial doesn't even know why it can't connect, it just can't. slydial has one feature and it doesn't even work... by my count that's 0/1...
Doesn’t work!!!!

If they just had the number to dial rather than slydial, I’d rather just use it. When I type in the number to make a call, it types in the wrong numbers every single time. slydial is junk. And hasn’t been touched in forever by the devs. Don’t use it unless you want to call random numbers instead of the desired person you’re trying to leave a voice message for!!
Beware

by AddieRemy
It works most of the time, but the people that I call, get bombarded with short this app calls that say nothing. As of Sept 2017.
You look up and suddenly have 10 or more this app voicemails that are each 3 seconds. I don't have a solution because the calls are not on my phone a 6S. But I called someone with a 5S and they are being taken over with these voicemails.
Also blocking the number doesn't stop the voicemails. Ugh.
I work nights and got woken up today by two separate callers who didn’t know me and must have misdialed my number. When I asked who they were they hung up. I wanted to use slydial to call them and see if their voicemail messages Identified them. Both numbers wouldn’t call through and said “error “. I have an iPhone 8. Other reviewers who gave negative reviews had I phones so there may be a connection.
Still does not work

slydial still does not work. After giving you an ad for some new product while on hold, waiting for your call to connect, it just ends in an error. Is that intentional? Got around $10 credit just sitting there. I hate talking on the phone and used to use this app all the time. Would love to have it work. Can't be that hard to fix it.
I gave this a legitimate effort because it sounded like a great idea

Totally useless app. You have to listen to a 15 minute long recording of them trying to sell you another service before you even find out how it works and the way it works is hardly at all. Number one your calls are going to be ignored because they come from an unknown number so most phones will screen them out. Secondly unless you spend three dollars a month you have to listen to a 15 minute long advertisement every time you try to use it. To sum it up you just wasted more time than slydial is worth reading this review.
Used to like it but...

I used to use this app all the time. I loved it and never had a problem using slydial on my iPhone until I got my iPhone 7. Now trying to use slydial gives me an error message. So slydial has turned useless. I have asked support for help but I have received none. Basically they said since I was using the free service that they couldn't help me. The only way to use this app now is to dial their main number which is OK but the defeats the purpose of having an app. So unless someone can tell me how to use slydial again and make a call through slydial then I will not rate slydial any higher than one star.
Next!

slydial is too glitchy on my iPhone X. I expected it to work, not be tasked with trying to figure out why it DOESN’T work. Instead, after I dial the number (a valid mobile phone number, and I tried a few), there's a long pause, it thanks me for using this app, and then after another pause it tells me to enter a valid mobile phone number. When I try to re-dial the already valid mobile number, slydial disconnects the call. Either it works or it doesn't and I'm not wasting time trying to make it work. And from what I’ve read about customer service, no thanks. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Cancelled plan and moved on.
This used to be my favorite app so I could get my message to people and avoid having to talk to them. Now slydial always says “error occurred” and glitches more than it works. Not worth being on my phone anymore. Sad to delete it but it needs updated to at least be able to work

I needed to call my new hairdresser because I couldn’t remember her name but was too embarrassed to ask. I did know though that she said it in her voicemail. slydial let me go straight to her voice message to hear WITHOUT praying she wasn’t gonna answer her phone. It does what it’s intended to do.
ALSO. The ad? It’s maybe two minutes max. I don’t know what people mean by “15 minute” wait.
Great app- worth the money for the pro version

slydial delivers what it promises- not sure why all the negative reviews other than what appears to be user error.
The ads are annoying and it was worth it to me to pay the 3 bucks a month and have them removed

I've used it for years without an issue on older iPhones. But when I recently upgraded to the iPhone 7, it stopped working completely. A quick phone call to the developer resulted in directions to fix the problem – delete slydial , restart your phone, reinstall slydial . All works well again!
