Well thought out app

I use RCPhone extensively for my business. I have 13 workers and have to fax all of them on the daily basis. I like how RCPhone takes numbers and names from your contacts and makes it really easy to fax or email them. It's quite intuitive/easy to use. A couple of cons would be that when I fax something to my home fax machine, we often will have blank or partial faxes come through. And, when I say "often", sometimes it can be like every 3rd or 4th fax. I had my cable/phone company come out to the house and check our lines, so I really don't think it's a problem on our end. Also, sometimes when we email the faxes to my workers, they won't get the emails. Very frustrating. Not sure if that is an issue with RCPhone or the email program. But, I have been meaning to call Ring Central and see if they can make any sense out of this. A week ago I started a free trial with eFax. Let me tell you, that service/app is not nearly as good as Ring Central. But, all of our faxes are complete and we don't have partial or blank faxes. So, I'm kind of on a fence here regarding what to do. But, when RCPhone works as advertised, it's outstanding.

Data Deletion!!!

I have a mobile healthcare practice and I use RCPhone for 100% of my patient contacts as well as text communications when I’m on the road. One day my app was not properly recording the area codes on my received phone calls. When I called tech-support he told me that I needed to uninstall my app and then reinstall again from RCPhone Store. I specifically asked him if all of my data, text messages, and patient contacts would be protected? He replied, of course they would since everything is saved in the cloud. So then I proceeded to uninstall RCPhone and then reinstall it again. When I reinstalled it I immediately noticed that EVERYTHING was deleted. All of my patient contact information, text messages, everything. When I called back to speak to the supervisor he was quick to say that yes, everything will be deleted upon reinstallation of RCPhone on my iPhone. I couldn’t believe it! I could not believe that the RingCentral text support is so untrained at what they do. Either that, or the guy flat out lied to me. Needless to say, this has cost me countless hours as well as lost money in revenue due to my having no way to contact my patients from my mobile device. The customer service supervisor only said that he was sorry but there is nothing he could do. UNACCEPTABLE!!!

I am currently searching for a new VOIP phone provider.

Innovative Solution for all sizes of Businesses

I’ve been a RingCentral customer for well over 12 years and have seen significant growth with RingCentral in comparison to their competitors in the industry. One significant improvement was with their support team. They are effectively trained to assist now!

I do enjoy RCPhone . I also like the fact of having dedicate account managers—which let’s be honest, most companies in all industries have moved away from. As a new customer, they now offer implementation service to kickstart your journey with RingCentral. As long as your phones are provisioned correctly, there is hardly any downtime. Keep in mind that IP phones quality is based on your Internet Speed; so don’t skip there! Buy a cheaper phone with the best Internet Service. No business likes losing calls. Finally, there will be some random spoofing by people who like to hack; however, that’s with ANYTHING you do nowadays. Succinctly, you can’t go wrong with RingCentral.

Agreed- I have almost all the issues described by others

Drops calls frequently. I know I’ve lost business because of it due to seeming unprofessional with calls dropping repeatedly. I’ve learned, when it starts happening again, it’s time to delete RCPhone and reinstall. Unfortunately, I was told the same by tech support as another reviewer, wouldn’t delete the data/ texts etc, but sure enough, it deleted everything. However, there’s no other fix than to delete and reinstall. Therefore, I now know I’d better search every message when it’s time to delete again and write down important info but how is that helpful for business to have to continually fix this and manually re-record important info. If my company didn’t require the use of RCPhone for our business, I wouldn’t keep using it. Also, there is no conference call (3 way)feature as on iPhone devices. Again, another must have to do business.
Other features of the multiple different apps can be good, reason for 2 not 1 stars, but they’ve clearly heard the same complaints for a long time but not correcting them.

Ok but FRUSTRATED

Overall app is ok. I’ve used RingCentral for many years. For whatever reason, they keep adding and removing a very important button to block calls or faxes. I use RC for my business and keep getting spam faxes almost daily. Sometimes there’s a button to block the number and then suddenly it disappears and may briefly reappear again. I think they keep messing around with it in every update and IT’S SO FRUSTRATING!! Please keep the block number feature and STOP REMOVING IT! I don’t have time to look at spam faxes everyday and would have a lot fewer of them if I could block the numbers. Also, they want us to switch to the new app since this one is being phased out, yet the new app doesn’t allow you to choose which number you send texts from. My texts send from the dummy number I was assigned, which is not my business number and my clients have no idea who’s texting them when I use the new app. It’s an easy fix and pretty ridiculous that it was overlooked.

Great for outgoing calls but needs work for incoming calls

For outbound calling RCPhone is great as I can call from my office line without the person on the other end getting my cell phone number.
Incoming call functionality needs some work. The 2 major issues with incoming calls are:
1) Many times my phone rings for a second and I miss the call. I assume the caller has been waiting for me to answer for a while but the call went to voicemail before it rings the phone. This happens on cellular data and WiFi.
2) Most incoming calls only show the number calling me and not the contact info. Maybe 1 in 25 calls will actually show the contact name on the caller ID. When I look at the call logs in RCPhone it always shows the contact name. Just wish it would show when they call. This has been an issue for a long time and I thought an update would have fixed this issue by now. I have an iPhone 6 Plus with about 700 contacts.

Bugs

For quite a while (two plus years) and across multiple phones the same issue appears randomly and it’s a significant one. Occasionally I walk into my office after being out of town several days to find voicemails on my desk phone that are not pushed to RCPhone . Typically there would be a notification on my phone, like the “1” over the icon. But sometimes it doesn’t.

When I go into RCPhone and refresh the inbox, the new VM shows up. However, that’s too late and certainly the intent of push notifications is so we don’t have to jump into programs and hit refresh.

Our whole organization uses RC and I’ve confirmed this issue with others previously. I’ve reported it to our IT group and I believe they’ve logged it as an issue with RC before. Ultimately, as a customer-facing person, this issue is a big deal. Hoping that it’s resolved as I’ve found RC to be very effective for us otherwise.

Needs MMS support

Works great other than the mms support. Also there is a small glitch with the Apple Watch app that makes RCPhone quit when you click on the reply button. When a message comes in on the watch.
The Apple Watch app is extremely slow to load Messages.
I just realized on RCPhone itself if you have a forwarding number you can make outgoing calls from your forwarding number but only if you use RCPhone exclusively it will not ring out to your iPhone from that number it gives you an error message if you try to use that. Other than that RCPhone works great and I’m happy with it. I wish your team could make the Apple Watch Amp work a little faster and fix the glitch that causes RCPhone to crash when you try to reply to an incoming message it’s been like this for about a year now.

Great app, great personal service service

Having used Ring Central for 3+ years for my business, I can say it’s amazing. Mostly because I don’t have to work hard to have it work hard for me.

Most importantly, if I have a question or issue (as happened in the beginning) a real, live person answers or calls you and works it through with you —- rare with software these days, much less apps. Additionally, each time (several) I’ve called the help center, someone has called me after to ensure that my question has been adequately answered. So rare these days!

For anyone using a co-working space, Ring Central is perfect as you can keep your same phone number over multiple locations. (Including when your co-working space closes or relocates.)

No 3-way calling?!? No changing ringtones?!?

RCPhone is solid for the most part. It just has two fairly major annoyances. There’s no way to make a 3-way call over VoIP from within RCPhone (you must switch to a carrier call and then use the iPhone dialer) and there’s no way to change the ringtone of an incoming call (and it’s not even your own set ringtone). Both of these features predate the existence of RingCentral as a company, so it’s somewhat inexcusable that they’re dragging their feet on the development and addition of these features to RCPhone . -1 star each for the two annoyances and -1 star for the fact that we’re talking about 20+ year old technology.

In reply to the developer response: Hi Developer, Please don’t say that a 20+ year old technology is on your “product roadmap” and then ask me to vote on a four year old community feature request. Like I said, this is inexcusable. Just get it done already, please.

GREAT service

Loved Ring Central from Day #1. It’s been 7 years now and we couldn’t be happier. Well thought out options, great mobile app ( I could be anywhere and answer or call) via my personal mobile and appears it is all conducted from my “business desk” phone. Sound quality never amiss even over speaker or conference call option. User options are detailed and illustrated step by step on website. If you need 1-to-1 help, REAL people are patient and available. Best practices and expectations are always met with this exceptional worldwide company who’s global platform is solid and their international employees are well trained and always helpful. Great job on all fronts, RingCentral got it right from the beginning. Highly recommended.

Very helpful, couple requests

RCPhone comes in handy when I am not in the office and need to fax. 99% of my faxes are straight to my boss to send work orders as I work in a different state. A couple things I’d prefer to have on RCPhone that are available with the online computer website:
scheduling a fax - this comes in handy a lot, but I wish they would add it to app as well.
Adding a cover sheet - because most of my faxes go straight to my boss, I don’t need a cover sheet. When faxing from the website on my computer, you can choose to add one. However, on RCPhone , it’s automatically enabled and you have to change it to none. I’d like to be able to make a setting to change that to always none unless I choose differently.

Other than that, RCPhone is incredibly helpful!

Worst voip service not worth a dime

This company will charge you more bogus charges than any giant company would. My monthly rate is $36 and with their fees they’ve been over billing me at $63 per month so as you can see you will pay almost double what your rate is in their fees. So if you signup with them you will pay double of what they say you going to pay. I’ve transfer my lines to a better service like att collaborate who only charges you $3 or $4 in taxes per month and is a reputable company not a small mom n pop who just wants to defraud you. So unless you want to throw your money down the drain find a better alternative with a company that will be honest and consistent. Also their account managers as they call them do not return a single call or email when you have any problems or when you need to speak to someone all you get is the run around. Worst people ever will never do business with some small crappy company like this again.

Barely works sometimes on ipad

Outbound faxes sent through the most current ringcentral phone iOS app, used on an up to date iPad, do not do anything RCPhone says it will do, especially if you are trying to attach documents. RCPhone :
-Does not populate draft faxes to the Draft tab (if you switch apps the draft simply disappears. There is no apparent way to save a draft fax).
-Does not populate sent or sending fax messages to the Outbox (they never show up here)
-Does not populate sent fax messages to the Call Log (they show up here erratically)
-Does not save documents attached to faxes to the Documents tab. I have never had a document save here.
-Does not show if the fax is successful or failed.
-You are directed to keep RCPhone open “while faxing”. RCPhone never tells you if faxing has accomplished. So when do you get to use your iPad again? If you switch apps (double tap, keeping the ringcentral app open), there’s no way to tell what happens to the fax you sent. Is it still sending?
-You can’t resend a sent fax that fails, whether by iOS or your web account.
-You can only ever know about fax success/failure by checking email for updates, ie leaving RCPhone , or checking your web account, ie leaving RCPhone . You have to create the whole fax all over again, which is maddening.

Great App But Not Without Issues

Very convenient way to have my personal cell phone double as my business phone and communications portal. However, there seem to be issues with the fax function of RCPhone ...desk top app in particular with regard to content in some attachments. Specifically, when I try to send pdf’s that have images and/or images from software screenshots they do NOT go through...whether I am using the fax desk top fax function or sending faxes via email. Simple Word and Excel documents sent as attachments to faxes, even those with images, go through no problem. Extensive calls to Ring Central support have not yielded a solution which has dictated that I snail-mail some communications. Boooo!
