ParentalControlBrightCanary has never provided good feedback on any of my kids. For 1 month (when I first got it) it updated frequently but for the last year it has not notified us or done anything in regards to monitoring my daughters phone. Last update on ParentalControlBrightCanary was July 23, 2023, been paying for it hoping it would work but still nothing! I’ll go back to using the bark app!

ParentalControlBrightCanary is clunky at best. The way it monitors text messages is by essentially putting a virtual Mac server on your child’s phone titled Bright Canary-XX. This has caused all kinds of issues with iCloud. It asks for a Bright Canary password which doesn’t exist, so I essentially can’t add my child’s iCloud account to any other devices. I’ve reached out to the Bright Canary support email multiple times over a time period of a few weeks, and gotten no response. There is no other way to get in touch with them. As far as the performance of ParentalControlBrightCanary , it doesn’t show all text messages, so you will only see some messages from your child’s phone. Wish I would have never installed ParentalControlBrightCanary.

Easy for kids to figure out a work around. Horrible customer service. And once you pay for the subscription, you are stuck with it even if it’s only a day or two into the service when you decide to cancel. I requested to cancel and get a refund for a few days now and they will not tell me how to get a refund , lots of run around .

ParentalControlBrightCanary worked for 1 day. Then the text monitoring quit working. This will make it so you have to completly delete your Apple ID and erase device in order to use iCloud again.

In response to the support response below, I did reach out to support multiple times, over the course of weeks multiple texts and phone calls, I was not provided a resolution whatsoever, support was not helpful. So, the response of “I should have reached out to support” is invalid. I did exactly that. Do not waste your money on this garbage app.

This might be good for little kids but if your child is tech savvy it will not take them long at all to figure out that they can turn off text message forwarding. This is key. Without it on, you as the parent will not be able to see their text messages. There is no way at all to prevent them from doing this. Major let down. With this limitation it’s not worth the cost.

I tried for a week. It worked for less than a day. I contacted support seeking help. I received a response with actions and a question. I responded and included screenshots. No response. I even asked to extend the trial so I could work with support to try to get it to work but still no response. I would highly recommend not committing to a year with this company unless the solution works for you. Similar to other reviews, customer support is hit/miss.

I like they only focus on social and messaging, and do not require a separate app on the child’s phone. But ParentalControlBrightCanary is extremely slow and only offers a few platforms. And if you use Apple screen time ParentalControlBrightCanary will use up your kids time. Each time canary checks their text messages it uses up screen time as if the kid was on the phone. My son would wake up and see he had 1 hr of screen time usage while asleep with phone off in another room.

ParentalControlBrightCanary is great for monitoring texting but the Google monitoring never connects properly and the customer service is non existent. I’ll keep it for the text monitoring but wish all the features worked properly for a paid app

If i dont look at this for a few days, it takes way to long to load and sometimes doesnt. Messages need to be categorized by date so i can load and read each day individually instead of ParentalControlBrightCanary trying to load a weeks worth of if thousands of texts and taking fiever to load and sometimes not loading at all. This is the only app I’ve found that actually works with apple or id probably move on. Please fix this issue!

We tried Bark and others. Complicated to use and don’t really work if your kid uses an iPhone. BrightCanary works flawlessly, and lets you monitor the things you care about…namely the messages your kid is receiving!

So many people are using it. It's really good. I've been using it to enjoy working overtime. There's no problem at all!

ParentalControlBrightCanary is so helpful for ensuring my child is safe. With so many social media channels with dangerous content, ParentalControlBrightCanary is invaluable. I love how I can protect their privacy while ensuring their safety. All of my parent friends are going to love this!

I use this to check on my minor son. He is 10 and I wanted to make sure his messages in and out going are good. It tells me if there is anything concerning. I have had a great experience with it so far. Been using it since May.

I briefly true the two largest and supposedly best parental apps on the market, quickly discovering significant issues with each app. I got so lucky when I tried BrightCanary, and app I knew very little about. The experience has been simple, easy to use and met the needs that I was looking for to protect my children from the negative aspects of the internet and social media. I would recommend this to any parent and use it in conjunction with our iPhone’s parental controls.

I needed to supervise my 11-year-old, after becoming concerned about what he was encountering online. ParentalControlBrightCanary ’s Technology makes it easy, without having to take his phone or hover, and it covers risky places like messaging that need monitoring. It’s the best I’ve found for iPhone monitoring.

As a parent to a neurodivergent child and someone who is in the mental health field, I do believe ParentalControlBrightCanary is very useful and should be included on devices used by anyone under 18 years of age. I do believe this will help parents and mental health providers to help spot troubling behavior and online activity. Which has the potential to help everyone potentially prevent future situations.

This is the best app for monitoring what my kids are seeing and being sent online. Other apps claim to be able to do text monitoring but you have to plug your kids phones into a computer daily. This works automatically….I get their latest stuff multiple times a day, plus they added summaries to make it easy to skim and see what’s new

You can monitor your kids texts in real
Time and review on your device. It’s a little work to setup (have to have kids iCloud password and device), but awesome. I have used Bark too and I don’t like that Bark only backs up texts and checks them when at home on a network with computer. Bright Canary has found a way to get copies of all iCloud messages, pics, videos for your review as a parent with AI input to guide you!!!

A 13 year old from a nearby middle school died in his bedroom after taking what he thought was a muscle relaxant. It turned out to be laced and he ordered it like a pizza through a social media app. Parents, we need to supervise. ParentalControlBrightCanary is the best one I’ve found to do that. And it monitors DMs.
