I can’t get NixSolo to save any data from a full workout. Starts fine and can watch it work for a bit then at end of workout NixSolo says ‘something went wrong’. There is no option to save what it has... only option is to discard workout!?!? Restarting NixSolo and it instantly reconnects and says the patch needs to be replaced… with almost no information presented to user it appears that the patch gets saturated and then app just dumps all the data. I guess I have to stop workout early to save any data?
I would say NixSolo and sensor are good when they work, but they basically never do at this point. Email support has been responsive and as helpful as they can be, but when all they can advise is “yes, we know it doesn’t work but we’ll try to make it better at some point in the future”, it doesn’t seem right to ask people to continue paying. I’ve lost a number of workouts (and the $25/four pack patches to go along with them) at this point. They sent some free patches, which was nice, but that didn’t make NixSolo or data recording work any better. I would love to track this data, but my pod will stay in a drawer because it’s not even worth the effort of sticking a patch on before a run.
NixSolo is down right terrible. I got the Nix pod a year ago and I could never get it to work. So I throw it in a drawer and forgot about it.
I just pulled it back out thinking “maybe a year later they actually got it to work properly.” I was wrong. Not only does the pod have massive issues with connectivity, I couldn’t even edit the name of my pod. NixSolo is that poorly made—there’s no save/submit/done/etc to complete the name change. Return doesn’t even work. So you’re only option is to hit the back arrow.
This product is absolute junk…. Rode 20 mikes 1:15 minutes… said I list 6.7 ounces. Currently attempting second ride to give it a proverbial second chance…. Won’t even connect. These patches are too expensive to have even 1 failure. Furthermore on a light bike ride i lise 16-20 oz an hour…. Save yourself money and get a regular sweat test. Or weigh yourself naked immediately before and after an hour ride. You wont know electrolytes, but that can be done accurately in a lab.
I wanted to like NIX. After multiple iOS installations I still am unable to properly set up my profile. NixSolo lacks basic user friendly capabilities, it’s confusing and I am constantly being promoted to re-add the NIX device! NixSolo UX is poor which leads me to be unable to use this device…
Couldn’t keep the device connected. When I finally got it to work, the data is pretty worthless. Don’t bother until they make it a functioning product.
Just don’t bother with this device, the “science” is limited. Customer service is non existent. Replacement parts when NixSolo is not working (pretty much always) are too expensive.
Can’t even use because it errored out creating my original account and now says an account exists but I can’t recover a password?
I love the idea and concept of this but connecting with the garmin is a fail. NixSolo doesn’t read my Bluetooth and the Garmin 955 solar. NixSolo always freeze up me. Would love to return the product….
I’ve had my device for 2 months now. Honestly, I can’t make sense of what it is telling me. They should have a video to teach you how to use it including calibration. I should be able to calibrate by drinking a specific amount of fluid, such as a 16 oz bottle, with a specific electrolyte, and doing a specific workout, such as 1 hour on a bike at a specific power level, such as 130 watts on an indoor trainer. Without that I don’t trust what this gizmo is telling me - it contradicts what my cycling coaches tell me. Coaches tell me to raise my intake more than this device. Pods are too expensive - $25.00 per workout is a lot.
I have tried to register on NixSolo using multiple email address, on an iPhone, on an android phone, to no avail. NixSolo becomes unstable once I get to the email verification screen and then freezes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled NixSolo several times but I get to the same point and results. This equipment is worthless if at NixSolo is unstable. I just emailed them and waiting for their help now. Based on all the other evaluations, which I should have clearly checked prior to buy, it looks like this product is not ready for commercialization
I wanted to like this, but the development around the connectivity needs to be reworked. I started a ride with my phone battery at 90% after 1hr it was drained to 20%!! It’s useless for long rides if the phone is needed. I don’t race with my phone so having the ability to just use my Garmin would be ideal. It’s so unstable in it’s connection. Says give it 20mins for data to appear, after 45mins still nothing and you have to turn bluetooth off and back on. It’s not ready for prime time that’s for sure!
NixSolo is not very good as it crashes all the time during workouts. It also doesn’t notify you very well even when it is running. So I have stopped relying on it to cue me when to drink water. Instead I’ve used the overall electrolyte and fluid loss data to learn how to better hydrate during my workout. Even if the NixSolo crashes during a workout, just restart NixSolo and it will still download the data from the sensor. So you can collect workouts over time to learn how much you expell in various conditions. Just don’t expect it to notify you properly during a workout. Still very insightful data.
Have been using the Nix system for a couple of months now. When it works, it is spot on with the information. Due to previous issues, I now place the pod on the patch and start NixSolo all the way to starting a workout to make sure everything is going to work; saves on patches. Newer software releases have addressed some problems. Customer support has been very good with reasonable turnaround times via email.
NixSolo REALLY uses phone battery fast! They are working on it so I expect that it will improve over time. You must be in cell coverage for it to provide real-time info. It may or may not reconnect when coverage comes back. Connectivity to a Garmin device is spotty and they advertise the problem is being addressed.
For shorter rides/event ~4 hrs it’s a pretty good tool and improvements keep coming. For longer events battery and cellular coverage can render the real-time data useless. However, using your past history and the Nix values from previous data it provides you enough information to calculate your fluid and electrolyte requirements.
Needs some improvements, but much more valuable than a single sweat test whose data is based on a single environmental data set. Recommend it as a tool that should improve over time.
