Disappointed

I love the IDEA of PUSHWorkoutGymTracker but the execution and functionality needs work. There are so many bugs making it extremely difficult to properly track my workouts. I would have better luck just tracking in my notes. The feature I have found most useful is swapping out exercises. I’m not always confident in figuring out which exercises will give me the same benefit so PUSH does the thinking for me. This is an expensive subscription for not working properly or tracking my weight progression properly. I will not be renewing.

Buggy

I’m currently in a one year subscription. I think the price is fine but, right now I won’t resubscribe. PUSHWorkoutGymTracker has potential but is buggy and I’m concerned there’s too much reliance on AI. Hopefully the AI part is more marketing than reality.

The Good: I like the choice of exercises and the variations in sets/reps. I like how muscle groups are prioritized throughout the week.

The Bad: PUSHWorkoutGymTracker always recommends increasing weight by 5lbs regardless of whether I’m deadlifting 200lbs or doing side laterals with 20lb dumbbells. Once I fail to complete the days sets/reps, the algorithm fails miserably. The new recommended weight sometimes resets back to 5lbs or, in one case, went negative.

Amazing UI, needs customization

I love how easy it is to dial in the weight/reps for each exercise as you’re doing the workout, and the rest counter between sets is also nice. The insights about which muscles are growing is great too.

It’s frustrating at times though because while it does let you add new exercises to particular days, it’s very much built around the program it auto-generates for you. I’m doing an Upper/Lower split at the moment, but it’s difficult to implement my own sequence of exercises for each workout day into my own program.

Also, it doesn’t let you add an exercise unless it already has it in its database, which is limited. Would be excellent to simply have “add custom exercise” and then you could create your own.

More Features

Decent tracking app to use to record lifts and see progression. Few things I would like to see changed: ability to change the warm up weight, a section to be able to view and record cardio exercises. Something else that would be cool to see is a bare bones calorie tracker with PUSHWorkoutGymTracker , somewhere to just place your own tracked calories. It’s a very good app, but many places to improve to really justify the price imo.

Almost perfect

I love PUSHWorkoutGymTracker, but it really needs an Apple Watch app. I’m trying to eliminate my phone from my workouts and having to take it out after every set is frustrating. An Apple Watch app with the ability to tick exercises done would be immensely helpful.

Also, being able to program a top set along with back off sets would be nice without the algorithm thinking you’re stalling for completing lower weight/ reps for every set.

The Best Workout Tracker with caveats

I love this tracker and it’s the best one yet.
✅Design is the most modern of all the apps I have tried
✅Love the feedback of what muscles might be growing

but there are a few things

**THE ONE BUG I FOUND**
The one bug I found was that PUSHWorkoutGymTracker does not track 45 degree barbell bent over rows as a lat exercise. So it’s not tracked in the total lat volume.

**FEATURES MISSING**
1. If you like pyramid training you are out of luck PUSHWorkoutGymTracker auto fills the sets based on the one you are on. So there currently is not a way to manually input different rep schemes unless you do it manually and update them yourself.

2. I wish there was an option to save my favorite generated workouts so I could have a list of workouts

3. PUSHWorkoutGymTracker doesn’t give you an option to do 3 days on and then one day off if you pick the 5 day workout. It just does 2 days on then one day off.

4. I don’t see any Apple Watch integration so it’s not tracking your calories burned or connected to the apple health app.

5. There is no way to track cardio in PUSHWorkoutGymTracker .

6. No analytics to see my workouts across the weeks or any data points.

Overall PUSHWorkoutGymTracker is great and looks better I just wish it had all the analytics and integrations to really make PUSHWorkoutGymTracker be THE workout app you should use.

Would give 6 stars if I could.

My wife and I just paid for a year of PUSHWorkoutGymTracker each. We are 1 year into our fitness journey with very different goals, and had both felt like we had hit a wall. PUSHWorkoutGymTracker gave us the extra knowledge we needed to to overcome that plateau.

The biggest game changer that PUSHWorkoutGymTracker introduced to me was the “full body” program that it generated. I always thought I needed to dedicate a full workout to just upper body or just legs etc. The full body program has allowed me to go into each exercise completely fresh and thus resulting in me being able to lift more weight and hit progressive overload more frequently. It also reduced my overall end-of-session fatigue and the LEG DAY DREAD!

PUSHWorkoutGymTracker reignited the fire in us and we now really look forward to going to the gym again!

What I would LOVE to see added to PUSHWorkoutGymTracker :
Stretches that pertain to the session we are about to do have just completed, or just a stretching program of any kind really. We are both still new to strength training and honestly have no idea how to properly stretch nor do we know how long we should be stretching for or if we should be stretching before or after, or both etc etc.

50 yr old male… best program on market

Incredibly easy and effective. Really enjoy the change up of exercises, and the ease of altering exercises when in need of certain unavailable equipment. Notifications to stay on schedule for specific muscle groups is crucial to my workouts. Seriously cannot give this enough stars. Absolutely injected new life into my workout routines.

Gains made easy!!!

This is a truly amazing app that makes it so simple to make epic gains. You can choose which muscles you want to prioritize, choose how many days a week you want to train, choose what kind of split you want to run and PUSHWorkoutGymTracker creates a custom program for you! The program is designed by science to maximize your muscle growth potential. I'm making awesome gains and I'm super grateful for PUSHWorkoutGymTracker! Much love to the creators. Highly reccommend. 🤝🤝🤝

Hidden gem of fitness apps

I was looking for a workout app that was based on science and had pre-built programs and this is it! I’ve tested Fitbod, Workout, Gymaholic, and many others and this is my favorite so far. It has great plans, easy tracking, and very responsive customer support. What’s more important is that everything PUSHWorkoutGymTracker tells you is research based and not just a bunch of opinions or data scraped off of the internet. Highly recommend.

Decent, No Frills

Been using about a week now. Was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. No frills training plan for weightlifting at an affordable price.
Would be nice to have a “keep screen awake” function when using PUSHWorkoutGymTracker .
As someone who does a significant amount a cardio training as well it would be good to have a space to input that training…or have it read your Apple fitness activity and incorporate the data into training/recovery plans.

The only workout app that I’ve stuck with

I’ve been using PUSHWorkoutGymTracker for about 6 months now and I keep coming back. I’ve used just about every other app on the market, but this is the best. The ability to learn why you’re doing specific exercises coupled with the progressive overload is my favorite feature. Being able to quickly edit parts of a workout that day of, or changing whole sets and rep ranges for the routine in general is also a major reason I prefer Push.

For me? Life changing

Never write reviews but have to say - amazing job by Joe and the team on this one. I’ve been a consumer of fitness content for a long time, but was never able to find, let alone stick to, a routine that I felt good about. That problem is gone after using this for a month. The design, AI features, and clarity of information here all come together to make the fitness tracking experience so easy it’s criminal. It’s also educational and easy to use, so important for an app like this. Do yourself a favor and use it!

Love it but v3 won't open at all.

PUSHWorkoutGymTracker is just (was just) so cool. Been loving it since downloading it. A joy to use, so slick and intuitive. Some minor improvements had crossed my mind along the way but overall, the best out there. Then came v3 which just hangs and won't open and that's that. I'm sure this is a normal update growing pain and I look forward to it being resolved but for now, for the new year, it's a bummer! That said, still giving 5 stars because I know these things happen and honestly PUSHWorkoutGymTracker is just the best of what's out there.

AutoPay after trial

I will start with the fact PUSHWorkoutGymTracker is well put together and with time, after a few additions/iterations it will be very very useful for beginner or experienced lifters alike.
But;
Be careful when downloading the free trial. It states you will be given a notification to cancel or adjust your payment plan before you are charged so I thought I’d give it a go. Unfortunately the notification only pops up inside PUSHWorkoutGymTracker so you wont get a notification if you happen to not train that day and don't have PUSHWorkoutGymTracker open. I’ve applied for a refund and may come back to PUSHWorkoutGymTracker after a few months when the kinks are a little more ironed out!

Close to perfect

Really good workout design, nice UI, good customization but there are few more places they could add fine tuning (ideally without overwhelming the novices).

Joe if you read these, my one request is to allow customization of the timer notification sound. On the Strong app it was a bell sound not shared with any of my other apps, but in Push it sounds just like the notification noise for Instagram, Reddit, Hinge, etc., leading to false positives where I have to look at the phone to confirm it’s the set timer. Also would be nice to be able to manually start a timer like in Strong.

Otherwise, looking forward to future updates given how far PUSHWorkoutGymTracker has come in a short time.

Excellent

I’ve tried them all. Every fitness tracker. And this is the best one. Science based. Automatic AI program building. Takes into account not just the basic height and weight, but other key details like sleep, stress, recovery, years of training, etc. Includes research and sources. Has a huge variety of exercises and customizable programs. This has everything you’d need, can’t say I’d prefer anything more. One feature I’d like to see added though - the ability to either add custom exercises and/or adjust a workout fully. As someone with experience sometimes I want to adapt from the expected programming. That said, I’m a certified PT and it makes me really happy that people will be getting access to this level of a fitness app. Great job.

Tried a lot of workout apps and this is by far, my favorite.

I’ve been going to the gym and following Joe Delaney for a couple of years. I’ve tried a lot of workout training and gym apps and finally decided to try this one. And I have to say, it’s my favorite one that I’ve ever used. I love the simplicity, minimalistic design, and effectiveness of it. Very well done and jam packed with a ton of intuitive and awesome features. It really feels like they thought of everything.

Some of my favorite features are:
The ability to generate your program split, the ability to customize and swap out exercises for similar ones that target the same muscles based on the availability of equipment, the simple tutorial videos that accompany each exercise, the effectiveness and priority ratings of each exercise, the research and information put into everything and easily accessible to you, the timed rest intervals between sets and exercises, the motivational notifications throughout your workout, and of course the ability to track your progress and the push feature that recommends progressive overload. It seems to be effective too!

Joe Delaney is my hero!

It’s the little things

AI learned behavior interactivity in apps isn’t new, but it is finally becoming common. This is by far the best example that I’ve encountered. Obviously program generation and adaptation is the key benefit, but I am impressed with the little details. The way that each exercise has a simple to access movement animation reference, the ease of adding a set or changing weights/reps, the way each exercise collapses to maximize visual real estate after you finish each one, the intuitive way you can select the exercise and replace it with something else (smart suggestions are pushed to the top). I could go on and on.

PUSHWorkoutGymTracker quickly made it to the first page on my phone and I have been evangelical about it with my girlfriend. Highly recommend.

Great for both advanced customizers and people looking for complete automation

Very satisfied with app.

Only suggestion is ability to see the schedule more than a week at a time (appreciating the algorithm may suggest changes along the way) in order to plan you lift days in advance - especially if you’re trying to balance lifting and cardio.

Great app. Highly recommend.
