The idea of Pdb is nice. Where else would you go for something like this with personality types ? The problem comes with a lot of the community and how the site/app is handled. The community is stupid and don’t make sense a lot of the time. The devs of this app also are dumb and make bad decisions. They add bad features to the site such as Zodiac voting, but they don’t add things such as making instinctual variants and enneagram into one voting category. They’ve also made add into pretty much a dating app that allows minors to match with people (some with young adults). They also promote poor resources and clearly don’t care about the information as only add and control the website for profit. They’ve removed certain simple features just so that you need to pay to use them.

this app is basically Reddit for typology… which is what it is, I have a love-hate relationship with it. I had some annoyances with Pdb before; settings changing themselves (i.e., disclosing my age when I specifically set it not to), paywalled direct messaging, and surprise loud music on the “meet” tab, but this latest update is the nail in the coffin. CONSTANT unskippable ads that frequently cause Pdb to crash. I get that this app needs to stay funded, but this absolutely isn’t the way to do it. Pdb is practically unusable now, guess I’m stuck to the web version, which sadly doesn’t support the AI friends feature that is in fact very fun. I’d happily donate if they just asked and I’m sure many others feel the same. “Premium” features and selling out to advertisers that wreck usability is the worst possible approach. If they don’t do something about this soon, I’m done with the site altogether.

Full offense intended, Pdb is sooooo bad. I downloaded it because the browser version was almost unusable because they were pushing Pdb version so hard, and I was so horribly disappointed at how far it had fallen.

Pdb has almost become a dating app full of AI first of all, and I get it, people are lonely, but come on man, be for real. Then any time I tried to navigate within Pdb it blasted Gangnam Style. Like, I’m sorry, what? I feel like Pdb was developed by people who find personality types stupid, which fair, they’re not empirically based, but they’re fun! Pdb was almost as unusable as the browser.

Again, how far they’ve fallen. It’s not just the fact that it’s more of a dating site for sad recluses or AI ridden. The reason I’m so upset is because the browser and app used to be user friendly and fun to use. I don’t even know what I’m looking at anymore. I used to enjoy popping in on occasion when I wanted to be insufferable about personality types, but I have to say I’m going to have to find another site 🫡 Wish it hadn’t ended this way, RIP the good ole days ig.

I’ve never in my entire life have written or rated an app, but gosh the sudden wave of dissapointment that waved through my body when I first opened Pdb . Heck I remember using the website back in 2021 and god was it FUN? It was sooooo fun and people knew how to make points and debates about chracterstitcs and etc, and it was usable.
Now everything I click on I have to pay for? You are better than this guys, don’t ruin such a beautiful website on such bronig and useless stuff please be wiser.
And at least filter people whom are chronically online because surprisingly they get sad and upset whenever something logical is being said,

I was so excited to download Pdb and hopefully meet new people. When I first opened it, seeing all of the great tv show and other options gave me hope as well as all of the customization options. That was until I got to the “way of thinking “ page. There are a number of ideologies to chose from some of which were shocking to see. From eugenics to fascism to white nationalism, they have it all. This is much more than disagreeing with beliefs, these have caused people to die and have killed countless amounts of people, especially during ykw. Disgusted knowing Pdb harbors people like this making it an extremely unsafe space for its minority users.

I don’t mind the added features for socializing, but this used to be a database where you could easily search for types and it has become a social media site. Please just put back the feature to filter for multiple types. I want to find characters who are specific combinations (entp 5 for example) and there’s no way to filter for that anymore. I don’t understand why they got rid of a feature they already had. Not only that but the website has been changed too, it’s not just Pdb . Please put it back.

suddenly making the ages of your 18+ users public without permission - with NO option to hide it - is so disturbing. don’t bother with Pdb if you place any value in trust or privacy. i’d recommend at least not putting in any of your real information, seeing as they clearly can’t be trusted with it. i’ve deleted my account, and i’d highly suggest doing the same if you’re considering it.

I would give zero stars if I could. I’ve downloaded Pdb multiple times to try and use it but every time it opens a blurred screen of my homescreen, and then closes itself out. When you try to use the website you can’t even use it for a minute before getting hounded with popups saying to get Pdb . It’s just unusable and I used to love using this website to find out my personality characters but now I can’t. I’ve tried everything to try and use it but it’s impossible. Might be an issue with my phone but it’s genuinely annoying.

Personally, it’s a great app to look at character’s and peoples personality types and all sorts of that stuff, however there is a issue with people being judgmental in a cruel way in Pdb . People in Pdb can appear to be extremely cruel and tend to act in a inappropriate behavior when people share or talk about they’re own interest within seconds and hours. Cruel and inappropriate behavior is seen a lot in Pdb and is usually targeted to minors and people with different interests. I’m speaking from experience.

I used to love Pdb . Unfortunately, everything has gone downhill at an extreme pace. I personally am not a fan of the “dating app” aspect, but I can ignore it and understand why others might be into it. What really is the deal breaker for me are the CONSTANT 30 second ads.

And like some others have said, Pdb is more based on people’s.. opinions. Not really any concrete explanation of someone’s type. I’ve seen so many characters purposefully be mistyped because a majority of people just don’t like it. An example is Naruto being typed as an ENFP because most people like that instead of his correct type which is ESFP. (There is a N bias in the community and now it is impacting how people are types) So I’m basically saying this isn’t even a reliable source for the whole PURPOSE of Pdb . You’re better off trying to guess what a character or persons type is yourself.

Really sad to have to delete Pdb. It was fun for a while. I’d be more than happy to redownload if things change in the future.

I used to use Pdb all the time. Almost daily. Now I can't even look at a single characters personality profile without getting a 30 second unskippable ad (which takes you to Pdb Store if you do so much as touch your screen). So naturally, I restart Pdb , go back to the personality profile I was originally looking at, and am met with another 30 second ad about a role play sex app for minors. This continued every time.

It's unfortunate because the developers of Pdb had a great opportunity to monetize their creation in a way that wouldn't annoy their users, but instead are settling for a cash out from pedophilic games and simultaneously ruining their user experience and possibly losing a decent chunk of their users.

The website on desktop is fine. If you try to access the website on mobile, it has removed functionality, and it’s broken and ridden with pop-ups that force you to download Pdb constantly.

When you download Pdb , it has removed functionality from the website. There’s NO WAY TO FILTER categories by type, enneagram, etc. That’s literally the whole point of this site. Instead, the mobile app forces you to make an account to participate in the “social media” aspect of the platform, which is completely broken and uninteresting. Quit forcing these horrible tacked on social media features, nobody wants it, nobody wants to talk to weirdos, just let me filter and search!

Pdb is trying to be too many things at once. I think you guys should focus on why people want to use it (to analyze their favorite characters) instead of forcing people into some pseudo tinder and re directing everytime a user lands on the page. The website even forces you to download Pdb . There are better ways to monetize if that is your goal, cornering in users who were used to interacting with this service one way and then completely changing it and cornering us into paying is just going to drive users away. I deleted Pdb because it is useless at this point.

used to be a simple site/app for discussing typology (specifically of various characters, celebrities, etc.), which is what i (and many others!) explicitly joined and used it for. whatever is going on right now with trying to turn it into yet another chatting/social media app, virtually indistinguishable from any other out there aside from the personality database part, is extremely forced and uncomfortable, VERY poorly implemented, and kind of just ruins the preexisting experience for all of the users who only signed up to discuss what their favorite cartoon character's mbti is, and don't necessarily want to be inundated with random chat notifications and constant popups on every screen of Pdb pretty much begging you to buy the premium membership. i literally couldn't even type a name in the search bar to find a character without one of these popping up halfway through and basically softlocking Pdb until i hit search on the incomplete name and hit the "regretfully miss out" button for like the 50th time. believe it or not, i have not felt a single ounce of regret for not spending money to support this website i used to sincerely enjoy being frankensteined into yet another second-rate social networking app, but go off i guess! :)

Ive used this app since 2019. I remember when Lettuce was the owner and we actually talked once. It was an easy, simple website to look up mbti types of characters that you like and have some fun off topic discussions on the aptly named “Fun Board”.
It all went downhill when the website went through a redesign in October a few years ago. It became more “modern and sleek” but lost all the charm it originally had as a simple website.
Now it’s an app and it’s an absolute hellhole. “Just don’t use Pdb ” if I’m on mobile, I can’t look up a character on the website without being forced to download Pdb . If I’m on desktop, I can’t change my profile picture, theres ads that practically break the site, and the notifications don’t work. Some stupid AI bots reply to every post I make even not on Pdb and on Pdb I am constantly bombarded with ads and requests for me to upgrade to premium so I can see who viewed my profile, which I do not care about in the slightest.
I literally just want to look up MBTI types of characters I like. This shouldn’t be that hard. Stick to your original purpose for f’s sake.

This used to be Pdb where I met people who are interested in personality types like I am, where I would make some friends and meet other people who I didn’t like.

However, recently the developer has started to implement involuntary ads into Pdb , and disguise the update where it is implemented as a bug fix, when in reality, the main goal for the updates is to add more and more ads into Pdb .

Ever since the optional video ads they added that you can watch to get currency for Pdb that you would use to reward and upvote posts (which I supported and used), the dev had gotten more and more greedy and is trying to make money off of making the experience worse.

The pricing for their subscriptions is high and predatory, like always, having a month subscription price set at about $15, but having the year subscription set at about $60.

I believe an app with such greedy practices doesn’t deserve your attention, and people should start to avoid Pdb to send the developers a message that this heavy degradation of user experience for the sake of personal profit isn’t ok.

Pdb has downgraded terribly. It used to be a simple site where people could discuss MBTI, and it used to be much easier to navigate whether you were talking about a trait, character, concept, franchise, etc. However, with this new money-grubbing update, every feature in Pdb has become a paid feature. I mean, come on! The one simple feature Pdb was used for, which is searching MBTI, you can't even be done anymore without paying because Pdb doesn't show you the full results unless you pay for premium or watch an ad. And whenever I try to watch an ad, it doesn't even display anything. I appreciate how they're trying to make Pdb more social, but it's super hard to navigate and edit your profile, let alone even access your chats because you can't even open them without paying.

first of all, why is Pdb exposing my location in my about me when I don't even have location services allowed? even worse, I can't remove the location from my bio making my privacy extremely at risk. Pdb used to be somewhat usable, but now it's a lame knock-off of a dating app when quite literally nobody asked for that. half of the features are locked behind a paywall and you can't even DM new people without paying. bring the old app back and maybe I'll consider redownloading, but there's so many issues that it's become intolerable. deleting my account seems like the only solution to removing my location, a shame I have no other choice since you made it virtually impossible to remove it any other way.

There was nothing wrong with the original website. I dont understand why they had to remove functionality from the website to develop an app with limited functionality. Want to look for a particular category of your search like Infp musicians for example whoops sorry not available on Pdb . Want to try the website whoops sorry you cant do anything without being forced over to Pdb store to download some stupid app. I wouldn’t be surprised if this app is just trying to get in on data harvesting why else would they push so hard for a free app that has no ads.

i used to love Pdb when it was just a website where you could look at the typology for characters, but now the website itself is practically unusable, forcing you to download Pdb . i also don’t like the fact that you NEED an account to use it. i know that this is because they’re trying to tap into the social media market, but i know that me and many others miss the way it used to be. i hope i don’t sound too harsh saying this, but i’m really disappointed that a website that i used to find so entertaining has now become something practically unrecognizable. i don’t want another social media app. you had originality! now it just feels like a regurgitation of so many other wannabe social media apps.

I just wanted to look at a book series, their characters, and their personality types.
I did not know that we had to make an account to do that now? The pop up would not go away on the browser mode at all and even after I tried it still was there! I ended up making an account which we had to pay for?? Why do I have to pay to make an account? What’s the purpose?

So then I signed up for the free trail, I just wanted to look at the book series THATS ALL. Then I see that MY ACTUAL LOCATION ON FOR EVERYONE TO SEE WHEN I PREVIEWED MY ACCOUNT??😭 I had no idea how to turn that off, I’m not sure if that’s an everyone thing or just a me thing when you preview an your own account-but it was scary to say the least. And no it wasn’t the flair thing of my country, it was my actual location. After looking at the book series I went and deleted my account and canceled the subscription.

Above all, I don’t understand why this website turned into an app? I didn’t even know when it turned into an app! Especially a pay to chat app? That’s so dumb I’m sorry. If you just want to use the browser mode to look at personality types fantastic but maybe find a different website because it will not let you click off that obnoxious pop up. Please make your FaQ better for people who had similar issues. Or if anything maybe not make Pdb at all.

Backstory time!! i used this app’s website a LOT for a while when i first got into typology, and it was really interesting! but then, the website urged me to get Pdb (the website is hardly useable without it begging for me to get Pdb ), so i did.

i genuinely hate to say it, but it’s not my favorite.
the layout does look nice, i’ll say that! some of the features are nice in concept (though the paywall isn’t my favorite).

but the worst thing for me is the amount of UNSKIPPABLE 15-30 second ads. whenever i try to look anything up, or even just move to a different page, BAM, an ad appears. and even Pdb is hardly useable because of that. i entirely understand why there are many ads, ad revenue is important for a free to use app. but i think there can be a better solution that could work out for both the users, and the devs.
Just please, the ads are unbearable and i can hardly use Pdb because of them.

LITERALLY THE CHRONICALLY ONLINE EPICENTER OH MY GOD…

it’s like you can’t breathe without someone getting upset. honestly i think Pdb would be a million times better if you could filter who can/can’t reply to your comments. or just get rid of comment replies all together. the entire app is opinion oriented, the like/dislike buttons are there for a reason, so the comment reply feature really does more harm than good. one user literally got upset and reported me and my comments for saying “agree to disagree”
being chronically online on a niche personality typing app is no better than being chronically online on tiktok or twitter. honestly i love the concept of Pdb but i hate the users so much i am so close to uninstalling its so frustrating.

I was excited to see Pdb and I thought maybe Pdb was going to show more details on the characters and why their personality works the way it does. Instead it’s just a bunch of comment section where people debate with not the best points on why characters are their personality base. I think it’s especially unfair for the characters who are a certain personality and people have good points but they change them because theirs more of a bigger population towards a certain personality. At the end of the day the points people make don’t matter because different personalities have different amounts of people who have that personality and definitely some more then others so the characters are bound to get changed whether people agree on disagree. I think it was better off just a website rather then an actual app. I enjoyed to see what characters I could relate to and the personalities we have but now I rarely have any characters to look at and some other people can agree also and it’s frustrating so I’m just deleting Pdb from now on.

I’ve used Pdb for quite a bit now and only as of late have the ads become literally unbearable. I understand you need ad revenue… But an unskippable, 15 to 20 second ad that has automatic sound playing almost EVERY time you search something up? Really? That’s a bit much. There are way better ways to go about this.

Update: Do not download Pdb if you actually want to learn about typology. I have watched Pdb get worse and worse over a period of a couple years, and it is now a messed-up tik tok/deviantart/tinder type app filled with loud ads and people just wanting to vote their type that has nothing to do with actual typology. It literally opens you up to the “meet” page upon even opening Pdb , with something that LITERALLY LOOKS LIKE TINDER and could make anyone’s significant other do a double take. Updating my review because I am so, so so disappointed. Uninstalled.

I downloaded Pdb a few days ago and it was decent enough, it was definitely another pay to chat app, similar to any other dating or friendship app these days. However it had more options, you could directly messages accounts you came across, and even follow people. Now I guess they updated it and even those tiny things have been taken away, you have to pay just to message a specific person and you can’t even follow them anymore to get there attention. Essentially you’re stuck messaging random people because that’s the only chat feature that’s free. Not to mention logging in and out of your account is confusing and you risk losing it permanently. And since the update, Pdb has been glitchy, continuously playing music even after I exit out. The communities aren’t really active. It’s an interesting app and has potential but the pay to use basically any feature definitely ruins it.

The most annoying thing about Pdb is that there is no way to sort by enneagram type. Which is especially frustrating because its something I can do on desktop, but if I try to access the page on my ipad its literally inaccessable because of a pop-up telling me to use Pdb . DONT MAKE YOUR WEBSITE UNUSABLE JUST CAUSE YOU HAVE AN APP NOW. ESPECIALLY if you aren't going to add every single feature!!

Anyway thats really annoying.

I think there should be a quotes category, "Most likely to say" various quotes. I think that'd be cool.

Pdb is fun, but they are stupid. Here is why. They have features that playfully allow people to comment and secretly visit people. This can lead to bullying, taunting, and mocking. Also, child predators can appear and use the secret and then begin to text these users. When the bullying actually starts, this app blames the person sticking up for themself and not the bully. Their support takes 50 hours and reporting system barely less then that. They are trying to turn this into a dating app. Look at the “friends” section. It is identical to Bumble. I would suggest that if you download Pdb, be awear of all of this. While Pdb is fun, it has these problems. They have to be more awear of this.

Maybe I’m just dumb but you can’t click onto categories in Pdb ? For example, only looking at profiles from video games or movies. It just has everything together and it’s overwhelming to see all these profiles at once. I hope y’all add this in!

I love this app. I was so excited to find there is an app, but it's disorganized and links from online do not take you straight to that profile on Pdb . You need to keep confirming things and it's just complicated. Love the design and have hope for some improvements since Pdb is so new. Had to delete 💔

I like the concept and have used this app for a while now but dawgg recently Pdb just keeps freezing so u have to exit out and often if u return right away it'll be stuck on the loading screen
Also yea there’s way too many pay 2 use features and they’re RLLY expensive for some reason??
Anyway also i think there should be more features to keep people entertained with Pdb for longer cuz currently i feel like it’s becoming mostly a networking app but even in that sense i prefer insta or snap🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ i think there should be more features that pertain to the original goal of this app being literally typing characters and people

I used to really like Pdb , but it’s getting really annoying to use as a free user because of all the ads.

Here’s the thing, I know that there’s no such thing as a free lunch, and I’m willing to have ads to a certain degree. But when I get a 30+ second unskippable ad after a simple search, followed by another one after clicking on a profile, it can get very annoying.
Ads like that are meant for videos (or something significant, like completing a match in a game for example), not searches.

And why does it seem like everything is behind a paywall? I’ve never seen an app require you to pay to see DMs. That’s ridiculous.

And then there’s all the times that you open Pdb , only to be greeted with some message begging you to upgrade to premium. Please stop. Provide features that I’d consider worth subscribing for, and I’d think about it. But trying to guilt trip me into subscribing makes me less likely to do so.

I’m giving this three stars, because at the bare minimum (as an app to vote and discuss on the MBTI of characters/people) it’s still functional, but only just.

Please come up with a better financial strategy, because this is not it. Sorry.

Tried to use Pdb today and it was forcing me to fill out my profile, even suggesting I use a real-life image of myself. I only use Pdb to look up personalities of characters/celebrities I look up, that’s it. I downloaded it because I have to login on my phone to see all the personality details without getting blocked by the sign-up message. I’m not trying to date or make friends. I also don’t like how I have to give out details like my age on my profile. If I’m set to “me time” and “in a relationship” I don’t think I need to give out that information publicly. And like others have said, there’s a ton of ads, some of them are a little long/noisy and even require interaction first before you can skip. And the skip button is hard to find sometimes. I don’t usually mind ads but I think maybe it might be better if they were less intrusive. Maybe they could be banners that don’t take up the full screen?

I downloaded Pdb near the end of February and had it ever since. I don’t use it everyday but I still use it often. I like how you can talk to other people and send them messages it’s pretty fun, but there are lots of adds just to get to one page to the other. I downloaded Pdb to see what personality I am and to connect that with other people I find on Pdb but also with different celebrities and characters, which I found pretty cool. But I stopped using Pdb more in the most recent updates because of the swiping thing that came up. Also more regular things from to start at that you could use for free you now have a limited access to. I liked meeting new people who also use Pdb , but there are a lot of this holding Pdb back from becoming good or even great. Overall it’s an ok app with some flaws.

As an MBTI enthusiast, I love Pdb for being a hub of all kinds of personality stuff. I’ve been using the website forever and having Pdb is handy. BUT, recently there have been so many additions for socialization purposes. Very cool for those interested, but now whenever I open Pdb , it’s automatically on the “Meet” function and is playing music or a video of some random person’s profile. Also the Feedback button in the settings/preferences isn’t working, otherwise I would’ve sent this there (but, might just be a user-side issue, nbd). I just want Pdb to open on the normal home page. I keep waking my partner up when I try to check a character’s profile late at night lol

So far Pdb is so close to being perfect, but the one thing that I used this website for didn't carry over to Pdb ! On the website, there's an option to filter your search once you're in a category, and there are certain sorting options (like A-Z or Newest to Oldest) in Pdb , but you can't sort by MBTI type! Please please please add this feature!!

came back to say the quizzes are SO glitchy. every time you click it enters the wrong option which is super annoying!! also i wish there was an option to create a text post on your profile and not just a “moment” or picture. also, it’s annoying not being able to dm people which i know is important for you guys to make money through this but i wish i could at least answer the dms that i get!!

Love everything about it. But…

Only reason, I give it four stars, and not five is because the company did not reach out to my girlfriend, and communicate to her that I was simply using this to meet other like-minded people, and not cheat on her with because the first time I figured out the chat mode. I stayed up until 5 AM talking to other guys and girls who are incredibly educated and intelligent (so is my gf and some obv).

Would really like some assurance that this community is not for creating negative relationships, but genuinely am being sarcastic- amazing app.

I love Pdb , it’s format is similar but different from the website, so it’s a refreshing change without it being completely different!! But there’s no option to change or add character profile photos anymore :((
Whenever I click “Change Photo” on the website (through Safari), it tells me to install Pdb , so I hope this gets fixed!!

I love seeing the characters in my fandoms that match up with my personality (like most people do). I only really gave it 4 stars because it crashes consistently when I try to apply certain filters and it gets frustrating quickly :( Other than that great app! Edit/response to developer: I encountered the crashes on the search page.

It'd be really great if you could add a function where we could sort through different personalities functions inside each group. For example, if I wanted to look at all 3s in a certain show, I could just tap that filter and then find them. Other than that, just as good as the website!

I've been using this website for a little over 2 years now, and recently got Pdb .
It's great, much more convenient than the website, however...
I cannot message people without having to purchase a subscription.
I understand that this is just what you guys have to do to make money to continue supporting Pdb, but gosh I just feel so guilty whenever someone messages me and I'm unable to respond to them. 😣
I know the obvious answer is to just get a subscription, but I'm not in a financial position to do that right now (as in I'm a minor who is still in school and is not financially independent just yet).
I don't really expect the developers to make messaging completely free, but maybe there could be a compromise?

Lots of great parts of Pdb but there’s a few things that are fundentally broken. Quizzes, for example, are frustrating because you could pick the same answer (example: I’m an INFJ, click INFJ to read that result. Suddenly you’re at the ENTJ result even though that’s not what you clicked at all. It’s not user error, it’s a glitch in their system. I made my own quiz that was very simple and I still kept getting a different result each time, and not what I clicked on, despite knowing that I didn’t make it that way). Everything else is pretty good though

Pdb is great, looks nice, and is easy to use. I would like to see the personality filter though. Like being able to filter a search or a category by ISFJs only or 6w5 only. And also being able to combine these like "show INTP 5w4 only"

I’m a huge fan of my this website so I’m happy to see there’s an app now for it but as for voting it seems the only options with the + button are “personality study” and “community discussion” which both require you to type out a comment rather than click the MBTI or other traits you think they are. Is this feature just not in Pdb yet or am I clicking on the wrong things?

Great app in general. I think a new feature could be to have private or shareable profiles that you can create on your own to type people/things. Formatted just like the existing ones, but these can be created by the user to type for personal use.

Update: it took a few days for the updates to be set in. Everything works wonderfully but there are still a few missing features but I’m sure with patience it’ll set in, thank you so much

I absolutely love the website (it’s an addiction), but I’m not as much a fan of Pdb . Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great and you guys are doing an amazing job. I personally find the website a better interface, but I could just be more used to it. Anyways, amazing app, would recommend to anyone who wants a new addiction!

I reference this app at least once a day (ik i have a problem) so Pdb has made that much easier to do! I'm glad the developers are so committed to making and maintaining a good thing and I like the changes they've made over Pdb 's lifetime 👍

I’m very satisfied with the progress Pdb has made. It so easy to use, it barely glitches anymore, and I love the option to post photos. Overall, a successful endeavor, I think.

My favorite is not having to obsessively check if I got notifications.

Love to see that they made an app for the website it’s every convenient and I get to learn a lot about the characters I love and even CONCEPTS have personality’s that’s so funny 10/10. Now how can we get the human population to discover themselves through Mbti A person can learn a lot about their strengths and weaknesses and the aspects in their personality that make us unique and through Pdb it encourages people to find similarities from character from any sort of media, it’s amazing. - an INFJ
