AmpliTube TONEX Reviews

AmpliTubeTONEX is terrible, when I can get it to stay open there is a constant digital clipping / static noise. Unusable. This is using it with the TONEX one pedal as an interface.

Noisy,tones not real sounding , and quite pricey. Stick with Amplitube. WAY better tones, cheaper, and WAY more versatile. IK just update Amplitube please. Been a LONG LONG time!! Updated 9/6/24.

Useless garbage. Unable to use it because AmpliTubeTONEX does not load. It would be great if they can focus on quality not quantity. Imagine going to a perform a show and app won’t open. Tested on several devices with same issues. Seems that there server went down or blocked. To me this is no where ready for any performances. No preset export or sharing or Tested on 2022 iPad Pro /iPad Pro 2015/ iPhone SE
Note to IK we know you are IP blocking which is easy to to bypass with VPN. 3 months later with same issues on new version.

Terrible wasp buzzing sound in AmpliTubeTONEX. Sometimes it’s all I hear. Other times it’s in the background. The software on pc is better. I wish this would work on my iPad, it would be very convenient. Please fix and add new effects as well.

Suddenly useless, I have deleted and reinstalled. It shows the intro screen and then just closes with a pop in the audio. 0/10 cannot open. Purchases and free models from buying an iRig all down the toilet. Thanks, IK. Living up to your reputation.

As the title says. I can’t even get AmpliTubeTONEX to open 90% of the time, and if i go to the tone store or whatever its called it crashes every time. Even tried on a ipad and the same thing happened. Waiste of time and money.

AmpliTube 5 with auv3 support would be better but I guess that makes too much sense. Ik Multimedia is pretty much old news as far as IPad apps goes, they used to be ahead of the game, now they’re behind and it seems like nobody there are using common sense as far as developing apps for the IPad goes, I’ve invested hundreds over the years in Ik Multimedia apps and in app purchases and aside from MixBox they are all obsolete and have been bad investments over the long term, and that could have been changed if auv3 had been implemented in them. Sorry IK, I’m not investing another cent in your apps unless it’s AmpliTube 5 with auv3 support.

I love the hardware, but their software doesn’t get common tasks done. You own TONEX MAX (equally as bad) and have a TONEX Pedal, and you have everything including your iRig HD X registered to the same account. You would think all of you presets, purchases and cab IR’s would be available on both apps, right? They are NOT. You are stuck with only the free stuff off of ToneNet on AmpliTubeTONEX. Now, who is writing this software? Don’t they understand what owners of this fine hardware need to do to get their tones working…and working everywhere? Apparently not. What a shame! Such excellent, capable hardware crippled by crap software. IKM, get your act together. There are many excellent sounding alternatives out there. Fire the knuckleheads who don’t understand basic “simple” functions of what users need to do. It’s not supposed to be complicated or impossible. Fix the issues.

Good for guitar; not good for bass.

This is extremely unstable! Take about 10 attempts to get it to open without crashing then has connection issues. When it does work it could use way more features. Wish it was more like the full OS version. Pretty disappointing app overall. Was really hoping to use my TONEX One pedal with AmpliTubeTONEX but just doesn’t want to connect or open or just not crash. In need of some serious help! I like a lot of IK products and things are good as far as hardware and using my MacBook Pro. But for the iPhone it’s literally useless! IK could really have a top place among other companies but their lack of support and things like AmpliTubeTONEX just turn so many people off. I just don’t get why they put so much effort into one thing then not following up on another. It’s like they have half of a company that knows what they are doing and the other have is just non existing. IK Do Better!

TONEX it’s broken! I’m not sure since when because I have automatic updates set up, but I’ve been hearing noise and artifacts for a few months. I’ve tried different devices, different guitars, different cables, even different audio interfaces, but nothing works. I really hope they will fix this soon because I really used to love AmpliTubeTONEX ! I’ll be more than happy to give a five star review when a fix is pushed.

I’ve noticed a huge improvement in the stability of it loading with the most recent update. Just wanted to notice this as a change since my last review.

Updating my review. Happy to see ToneNet crashing issue appears to be fixed in this latest build (1.0.4). The previous build (1.0.3) crashed instantly upon selecting ToneNet. Other reviews mentioning this problem are older.

AmpliTubeTONEX is pretty slick. I like being able to listen to ToneNet profiles quickly and easily. Makes hunting for good ones pretty painless.

AmpliTubeTONEX is amazing. It looks and feels just like the TONEX pc or Mac program. Easy to use with tons of tone models that sound like the real deal, especially if you pay a little more for upgrades. I almost knocked off one star because I paid for the max subscription but it did not unlock all built in models and could not get it to work with much effort and a support ticket. So I got a refund through Apple. I purchased the TONEX pedal which unlocks MAX on all devices (only the big pedal does) and everything now works perfectly and 100% unlocked. So I kept it at 5 stars because the good FAR outweighed the bad in this case. Keep it up IK, your making new fans everywhere.

Being able to use tonex max with my iPhone 15 pro and interface to play guitar is incredible. Love this setup. THANK YOU GUYS!

This absolutely my ultimate setup for studio and live use!
I come from using my beloved Fractal AX-8 and Tonex Max on IOS has become my main rig live at church as well as in the studio.
I ask the developers to please not forget the IOS community and give us the latest update which includes 8 effects. That would be so awesome!
I highly recommend AmpliTubeTONEX! Buy it directly from IK Multimedia website and it will unlock the IOS app!

I’ve used Amplitube for several years but started using Tonex for iPad and iPhone. It is really easy to use, the interface is intuitive, and the tones are so good. I’m not even subscribed to the Tonex captures and only using the standard IK models. I’ve been placed in a situation recently where I need to keep things simple and use the least amount of gear possible. I’m going guitar straight into an “amp” and then to the house PA. The built in compressor and room reverb are the only effects I use at this point. It sounds fantastic. All I need is my guitar, iRig interface, and the iPad, and I’m in business.

Love AmpliTubeTONEX and the tones. Everything used to work fine until updatw 1.0.3. But i see that the latest 1.04 update fixed the crash of the stand-alone app when trying to connect to ToneNET. I am a happy camper again and pleased with the quality of AmpliTubeTONEX and the way the developer fixed the issue in a timely fashion.

This is not only a rival to Fractal for sound quality, but easily matches or beats any hardware profiler while costing vastly less to use and get started with. They also sell a pedal if you want that stores your amp profiles, and again… it’s cheaper than even the crappy multifx pedals out there.
