Do not recommend

Yeah it may seem cool at first to be able to make “cool looking videos” but unfortunately that selected animated videos do not load correctly. Also when you try to play the video or stop it you can’t even click play or pause to see what you’ve created. No matter how many time you try to creat a new project Spool just craps itself and just doesn’t want to work after that.

FORCED BRANDING

First began using Spool as a short term solution for adding cool visuals for my beat post. I could export, then create, and tag upload. Could also save what was created to my device. Now no more saving to device AND no posting UNLESS you use Spool ’s hashtags?!!! NOT for a paid PRO version subscription I won’t. So seeking alternative opts. Shouldn’t have to pay to market/promote a product supposed to be the other way around.

I want my money back

I tried to cancel and they still tried to charge me. I had to move money from my checking to my savings to make sure I didn’t get charged because I really needed the 4299 I sent emails nothing was done. Nothing was sent back to me not a word that Spool is cool but after this, I don’t care if I ever use it ever again I will never recommend it to anybody has their customer service is the worst they flat out. Ignore you

Bugs

Already not working

Hard to use, stupid subscription rate, not worth the $40 a year

I make a lot of quick music video intros for work. Thought this would be a time saver. It’s not. Bad navigation, the least intuitive designs and over priced subscription based price made it unusable. For $2 this would be amazing. For $10 I’d be happy. But for $5 a month or whatever it costs it’s just a scam.

Not good. Pay walls everything you need

In addition pay walls weekly instead of a one time purchase, the base are all made by credited artists so if you’re a content creator you’d have to credit the person who built those visuals this not making your creation yours, rather your own edit.

My advice to avoid pay walls on visualization apps like these is to create and edit your own visuals and sync it to your music using an editing with best sync or audio matching
(I.e Videoleap, beatleap)
On those apps you can pay once for life, instead weekly or annually.

They are way more functional and the content you create is yours.

You can check out my edits/music videos under ~Skyryn Sand~

Just another paywall

Like all the other junk, this one promises a lot, under-delivers then immediately prompts you to subscribe for yet another monthly payment. Absolutely useless for “music videos”.

Cant export ever

I've tried over and over to export my projects and it wont ever work. It freezes and I have to start over. You have to do it all over just to see that it won't work again. I have tried restarting my phone, network, and even re downloading Spool and nothing works. Yall need to fix this or give me my refund thank you.

7 day trial

I think I could like Spool . But for someone simply playing around and trying apps all you offer is a seven day trial. I will be lucky to find much time in a week. And the subscription is too high. I suggest a mini version to learn on with a looser time restraint. Given time and a chance to see if it works the way we want maybe you could get more subscribers.

Removed support for important feature…

This was a very solid app until they removed support for adding audio from a video file. You can add your own video, but the audio doesn’t come with it. If you want to use the audio from the video, you have go through too many extra steps for this to be useful any longer for a workflow that I enjoyed.

Song better be less than 2 minutes.

i have some songs that are almost 4 minutes long and unless i wanna reuse clips over and over from the same deck it’s useless. you should be able to use multiple decks for one song and not have all your clips get overridden by the new deck. this should have been a day one feature fix yourselves you almost have a decent app

Good app but buggy

It’s a great app but some effects don’t work properly (audio waveform). It shows in the preview, but when exported, it’s gone. Also, been having exporting issues as it’ll freeze when trying to export

Pretty cool but issues exporting

Spool is pretty cool and fun to use, however when it comes to trying to export the video and save it, it’s a really big hassle every time you bring up your project you have to export it and it takes forever and so far I’m finding a lot of the movie editing apps don’t work with it. Not sure what’s going on. Maybe it’s just a show on my end or the apps

Cool visuals but my exports dont hold up

I was trying to make a visualizer for one of my songs and while it was great within Spool , every single export I did was glitched out and would cut randomly through the song. I tried to see if I could possibly re render but theres no option to get rid of the initial render and it will export with the exact same issues every time.

I’d say its worth the accidental year of subscription if this wasnt an issue but sadly it is and theres seemingly no fix built in.

Won’t let me access my Music

Been looking for an app like this, but will not let me access my Music, so I will have to delete it would’ve gave it more stars, but there’s no sense of me using it if I can’t access my music

Wrong Images Exported

UPDATE FROM 1 STAR REVIEW

Was unable to export the movie I had created with 1 of the decks I had chosen. Tried many different ways to determine if fault was on my end; restarting app, deleting all video and starting again, etc..the problem-a specific clip of the movie wouldn’t export and instead included a clip I hadn’t picked which ruined the movie altogether (if 1% of the video is incorrect, it throws the intended experience). I finally found a workaround to make a video to my liking. It involves exporting many different versions of different decks/videos and assembling a movie in my personal video program. I have found that this way I am able to create a much more robust video instead of just using 12 videos from a single deck, now I am creating with this app’s full library. Admittedly it is a LOT more work than just creating in Spool and exporting a whole video in 1 go, and I am losing some fidelity of image in compressing a second time after a second export from my personal editing program, but I am finding MANY more clips to use and am now happy with the results. Just a heads up though, some clips don’t export properly. But overall Spool is pretty cool with many options. You may need to be willing to dedicate some time for a desired result

Not the tool for me

I was hoping that this would be similar to Beatleap but it's not good for me as a social media content generator, but if I make more than one video it's going to look very repetitive due to the limited style and the auto generated videos are one trick pony and keep doing the same effects over and over and over.

Apps a great concept

Will return & rate 5 star if timing bar is adjusted from frequency bar to timing bar to track where you’re at on the track more efficiently & if we can cross reference video pieces instead of 12 preset settings we’re limited to once we chose a set up. Overall love the idea & the execution of this project & am just giving my feedback with constructive criticism for efficiency of layout for building a video start to finish.

Pretty cool so far!

Some obvious issues.. like the inability to purchase Pro due to broken links, no undo button, no timeline, no transition effects or overlay options, no addable assets and speed adjustment to the clips, and no text option. Had Spool preordered though because I have faith in it just needs some tweaks! Made my first video with it and liked it enough I wanted to go ahead and purchase annually but it doesn’t do anything when you click continue or take me to somewhere to pay. My only reason for purchasing though was I like the pad concept and overall functionality of Spool but I DONT LIKE WATERMARKS. However, I do think it’s important to show users what all comes with a pro membership as well and I’ve yet to see anything like that in Spool . First few hours using it but so far so good. Definitely will need to be adjusted on updates moving forward.

Why???

I love how cool the visualizers look! I want to use Spool. But why do I have to pay for adding a soundtrack from my files? I’d rather have to pay for certain visualizers than pay just to add a soundtrack. I’m a music producer who does everything on IOS, and I haven’t really found any apps that have a high quality visualizer that is free. If you could make it so that you can upload a sound from your videos for free, I would be willing to use Spool for my visualizers.

Subscription issues

Spool won’t allow me to sign up for this app pro.

Could be really great.

I think Spool has a ton of potential but as it is it’s purely amateur. The primary missing piece is bigger decks. As it is currently, you can create a “deck” out of up to 12 video clips. You press record, and it plays your song and then you can tap each of your 12 pads in rhythm to the song (like a drum machine except triggering video clips instead of sounds). It’s a very fun concept and a super intuitive way to make a video. Rather than slaving away in front of a video editor for hours you could make a music video intuitively in the time it takes to listen to the song. The effects are decent. The only problem is you run out of clips very quickly. Instead of 12 pads you need more like 64 or 128 or something like that (more even!!!) Otherwise you just keep repeating your twelve clips, which when you think about the fact that most music videos cut every second or so, you run out of stuff to cut to way too quickly and so it gets boring before the song is over.

Fantastic and intuitive but needs more clips

This is a very fun and intuitive app for making music videos in real time. Works like a drum machine- I love how you create as your music is in playback, and the newer feature of auto generating videos is great for when you just want to be lazy and see what it comes up with. I have used all the sets that I like already though, and there is not enough new ones added for me to renew. Also many of the effects are kind of worthless. Only about half really do something cool and add to the images. More clips please!

Please make name more memorable easier to find

In exchange for the title advice of making your name, more memorable or paying for your name to pop up easier I would like a lifetime subscription. If you don’t mind ha ha I’m sort of serious. I bet a lot of people are looking for you can’t you because your name or description doesn’t pop up., get to work ha ha and like the other review, please allow me to include as many clips as my memory can handle and allow me to switch music and audio clips as well//???…. I don’t gave you four stars cause I haven’t really put you to my music video test yet….. and I’m on a check. I can’t afford 40 a year even come on with all the apps in the world. Give me a break….. Give me a discount, pity me the sort of handicapped, but I ain’t made out of it…..lol, good luck in your adventure

I’m serious about earning a lifetime subscription~ I could do maybe some cool kaleidoscope generic clips you could offer or animation clips that all subscribers could use it would be worth it! I really want to get going with your program

AMAZING

This is an awesome app for those who want to make videos for themselves or as artist or for artist! I’d love to see where this goes with more updates! In the future hopefully being about to automate some fx movement. As well as changing clips and creating personal decks Would be really awesome! Overall for a new app they are killing it!

Help!

Alright, so Spool itself is pretty cool. I’ve used it a lot the past few days and I’ve been able to make some nice visualizers for some songs I like. HOWEVER, some of the songs/files I am trying to put into Spool are not even loading in. I don’t know what’s wrong with it (I think it isn’t Spool , but I just need to be sure).

Either way, I love Spool . It’s just that one thing that is bothering me.

My thoughts

I’ve been using this app for a while now, and it’s truly a fantastic tool for creating music videos. The real-time editing features and the extensive library of visual effects are impressive and make the creative process enjoyable and intuitive.

However, I do have one suggestion for improvement: I wish there were more video templates available. Having a broader selection of templates would make it easier to quickly produce high-quality videos and provide more creative inspiration for users. Expanding the template library would greatly enhance the overall experience.

Overall, this app is a great app, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to create professional music videos with ease. Keep up the good work, Pixite Inc.

Fantastic! Please make a PC app

Such a great app, my only negative is it’s only on Spool Store. I’d love to have this on my PC to do some hour long mixing! Love Spool love what y’all are doing keep it up!!

Really fun way to edit videos

This is a really fun way to make quick videos for social. It feels like playing an instrument for video instead of the usual headache. Cool app!

This concept is genius

this app cutscenes are goated they would make a great secondary tool to adobe pro

Of course the main video theme is always lip syncing

But for transition making or an artwork type music video I don’t see anything being easier. Imagine if you could preload your own decks and use the tap tiles to sync the rhythm of your songs instead of trimming and cutting on adobe pro. I would buy the concept if I were them.

Fast, easy, and VERY useful!

This is the perfect tool for quickly creating Spotify canvases. It lets me quickly generate visuals for my music that I can use to share across my social media accounts.

Good app

Subscription button needs to be fixed. Not able to subscribe, and too many bugs.

Fantastic for music visuals

I personally use Spool for visuals to put over my music. The sheer quality of the videos that come with a subscription is enough to sell it alone. As well as that the effects can be recorded at specific times (for bass drops its especially nice). I am slightly disappointed with the amount of clips that are available but i assume that in the future more will be released so im hopeful. 11/10 interface for the users super user friendly as well

Amazing

Spool is great for music visual creation. Artist - Frisco904 😁

Excellent!

As a creative person with no video editing experience Spool makes video creation easy and entertaining. Very addictive, I could spend hours creating!

Simple and and quick

Not the end off all when it comes to video editing apps but if you need something quick, efficient and pretty cool yet simple this is a easy grab.

Been using it one day so maybe I’ll come back after a month to add to my review. It great so far.

Love it! Idea for more development

I am using this a ton lately and love it. Would I would love is the option to export at higher resolutions. AND how about pushing this into the VR market with 3D video!!!

Buy

Can you make a option to buy your app outright to use these as tools, I’m a Producer and i love your app but not the subscriptions

Does not work

I can’t load anything into the deck! I’ve tried deleting Spool and reinstalling but it still hasn’t been working correctly… seems cool but yeah

So much fun!

Spool is really fun to play around with and feels like the possibilities of mixing sound and video are endless. Easy to navigate and interface is great!

Already obsessed

Seriously one of the coolest apps, I could play with it all day. So easy to create my own music videos using this app’s sick visuals

Beatpad meets video editor

Quite a lot of fun to edit like playing an instrument. If you’re into edits that hit right on the beat, Spool will be a great time.

No need to drag, just tapping makes the experience more pleasant when “editing”.

Loving it!

If your imagination is active then you’ll know what to do with this - LOVE IT!

Fun and practical

Awesome visuals for your music. And super fun just to play around with

Love it already

Great way to add visuals to my music. Amazing animations

UPDATE NEEDED ASAP

i have literally been struggling with Spool all day loading my music from files and off of apple music… its stuck in loading. i paid for Spool . I would have given all stars if it wasnt for this 🤦🏽‍♂️

Feels like I’m jamming on a drum machine

Addictive! Always wanted to try my hand as a VJ. This makes it really easy, just like playing a drum machine.
