**UPDATE**
After being contacted by Apple, I gave JusttheRecipe one more chance. No go. Out of ALL the apps on my iPad, this one does not open; I get the spinning red circle, let it spin a bit, then give up. So, still just one star for the good idea. But fruitless nonetheless. Dumping.

JusttheRecipe was recommended by AARP. I tried using it on my iPad which the developers say is compatible. No go. I was able to save two recipes but my other failed attempts just didn’t work. Lots and lots of buffering. Then the message that the recipe couldn’t be found. So, I’m removing JusttheRecipe from my iPad. The concept is great, thus the one star, but it’s just too frustrating.

I love this app!

I do a lot of recipe browsing, and JusttheRecipe addresses my biggest annoyance: bloggers who feel the need to relate their life stories or an anecdote about something cute their toddler did, or compare different types of tomatoes to add to your BLT. I know many of these have a “Skip To Recipe” button near the beginning, but many don’t. JusttheRecipe strips the fluff and gets right to what you want. Brilliant! My only gripe is that many times JusttheRecipe won’t open. You get the splash screen and a red circle spinning ‘round and ‘round. Even rebooting my phone doesn’t fix the problem. Squash that bug, and you got yourself a 5 ⭐️ app!

Love it! Will be even better with a few tweaks

Love the concept, and the ability to have my recipes all in one easy to find place without having to scroll through blogs and ads or search my photos for screenshots I took. I also LOVE that I can edit the recipes so I remember what I did differently for next time since I almost always tweak recipes. JusttheRecipe should really integrate your phone’s auto correct though so that it makes it easier to type edits without having to correct every little error you might type. Really looking forward to the recipe import feature that is in development too - I’d like to be able to import more than one recipe at a time and would like even more if I could import them from my many current screenshots of recipes.

Makes cooking so much easier!

I have been using JusttheRecipe for awhile now and love love it! After many recipes converted I just have a few notes that would make it more user friendly:
- tap top of screen to return to top of recipe, as you can do in other apps and webpages on a smartphone. This would make it so much easier to reference ingredient amounts in long recipes!
- ability to add sections to ingredients or instructions. I have noticed some import in “sections,” e.g. ingredients for base dish vs sauce, etc. but I haven’t been able to figure out how to add these manually if needed.
- fix coding issue where sometime apostrophes show up as %!~\#^ (or something similar lol). It’s not a big deal to fix myself when I see them but would make it a bit more streamlined and require less time correcting text in recipes.
All in all a fantastic app that takes away a lot of the clutter and difficulty with ads when cooking with online recipes! I will continue to use it and look forward to seeing updates in the future.

I love this app - it’s almost perfect

I love JusttheRecipe. I cook a lot and I often find recipes online, but it’s easy to lose track of them and it’s annoying to have all the added advertisements and texts and junk. JusttheRecipe makes it easy to keep track of them and easy to read the recipes. I absolutely love it, I gave it four stars instead of five is because it doesn’t save the recipes that you add to it automatically. Sometimes I forget to click the save button after I’ve added the recipe. I add the recipe unless I wanted to save it, so I think this step should be automatic. sometimes I forget to click the button because by my logic I already added it so it should already be saved, but if I forget to tap save I’ve lost a recipe after I added it. it’s nitpicky, but five stars indicate something is perfect and in my opinion it’s not quite perfect. if they made the saving function automatic upon adding the recipe, I would give it five stars.

Amazing all around!

I’m so hooked on JusttheRecipe , I’ve entered family recipients, copied online favorites, and organized everything so it’s simple to peruse!

My favorite features are editing titled (thank you thank you for this feature) and removing all the usual online junky language. Or, editing for simplicity as my husband likes to say.

Now if you’ll just let me organize recipients into and print cookbooks for gifts, I’d pay a fortune for this!

Life. Saver.

Nothing is more obnoxious than going on those godforsaken recipe websites and having to scroll for twenty minutes to find the actual recipe, and that’s if the ads don’t crash the website. JusttheRecipe eliminates the need for that AND is totally usable without a subscription, though I personally would recommend since it’s cheap and helpful if you cook a lot. I’m mad at everyone I know for not telling me about JusttheRecipe sooner.

This app is literally life changing

I know some might see the title as hyperbolic, but for me it really was. I have always enjoyed cooking and saved recipes in many different places, but when I wanted to get serious about losing weight and needed a place to store recipes, add notes categorize and modify, JTR made it all possible. I have been a user from the early days and I love how the developer takes requests and over time makes JusttheRecipe better.

One of my favorites

JusttheRecipe is fantastic! Just put in the url for your recipe and it takes out all annoying life history of the recipe author. It literally shows Just the recipe. I don’t know who decided we needed to see so much information, but I just want the simple recipe. This is one of my favorite apps. Some websites have made it difficult to copy the url, so for those I email myself the link and then copy it from my email. It works every time. Heart❤️❤️❤️

A DREAM!

Have been hoping for a tool like this, and I love it! More focused time on making the recipe, less time cursing at blogs, less frustration at the insane amount of ads and loading and my gosh, I can barely get through a simple recipe on a blog because how crazy flashy and focused attention killer they are. JusttheRecipe is so helpful for my time and my mind, thank you!! A few tweaks could make it better and I know it will probably get more and more user friendly. Thank you for saving me 🙏

This app is the best!

No more searching through webpage bookmarks to find my favorite recipes, no more searching through cluttered blog pages to find the instructions and ingredients. Just copy the link and add it to your recipe box, it filters out all the extra narrative text that I personally never want to read. No more searching for the “jump to recipe”. Just copy the link into JusttheRecipe and you have everything you need and none of the extra. All your recipes in one place, and easy to read!

Love this app!!

I am constantly trying new recipes and this keeps everything so organized. Sometimes these food bloggers post so much fluff in their recipes that it’s nice to be able to edit them to make everything flow better. I also like adding my own ingredients to things so being able to add and delete some stuff is awesome. Loved the free version but I will say the paid version is 100% worth the money especially if you spend hours scouring the internet for new recipes like I do.

Super helpful

I was trying to find an app that I could use to convert all the recipes I want to try into metric measurements and most importantly stop the recipe website from scrolling itself back to the top of page in on. I don’t know if there’s an easier method of getting this accomplished but Just the Recipe works wonderfully! It breaks down every recipe into measurements I can use for exact measurements. And it takes out all the mind numbing back stories to every single freaking recipe. I DID NOT NEED A 20 min saga about how you came to love this biscuit recipe, Karen!!!! Just give me THE GOODS!! Aka THE RECIPE!!

I enjoy cooking more!

I enjoyed the website and to now having an app is the best! The premium is a good price and is worth the extra benefits. I am trying to cook more and love finding recipes online, but the extra stuff and pages refreshing and moving away from the recipes made me get so frustrated. I love that I can print in a simple format too! JusttheRecipe and website make cooking more enjoyable. I recommend it to everyone! I also like the apple sign in button is in JusttheRecipe AND the website, because plenty of places still don’t do that and it’s very annoying. It’s a tiny feature that makes it easy to use on my computer and phone.

All my recipes are gone

I really regret that I recommended people use JusttheRecipe. First, I stopped being able to enter recipes. I had carefully curated some recipes making my own specific changes and recording of them. I logged family recipes in. And now they’re all gone. I can’t access any of them. I can’t enter new recipes. I’ve contacted them multiple times, and initially received one friendly response and then have heard nothing since.

UPDATE: they got back to me and now it’s working great again and I can recommend it! It is a good reminder to always keep a hard copy of important stuff, but I’m so glad I can use it again.

Buy this app. Give them your money now.

JusttheRecipe is amazing. I show everyone I know and I use it daily. I have collections of recipes so I never forget and it makes grocery shopping easy as can be.

Also I HATE reading recipes online. Why all the ads? I don’t care about your great grandmother and how she formulated this recipe and how it’s been handed down generatio… I don’t care. Just give me the food.

Also JusttheRecipe keeps your phone on so you don’t have to touch it as much with messy hands. I will never not use JusttheRecipe and I will forever tell everyone to use it. It’s only $1.99 a month?! Come on. Do yourself a favor and eat well and cook without being annoyed!

Pro Chef - This is my go to app

I have been in the restaurant industry for decades, and until now, have struggled to find a recipe app that fits all my needs. This one checks all the boxes for me - it allows me to pull recipes from sites and save them, eliminating the ads and blog content with them. I can edit any aspect of them in JusttheRecipe , print them, and share them with my kitchen staff. It also syncs seamlessly from my Macbook and my phone, allowing me to go from office to kitchen with the recipes in my pocket! I have used Evernote for years, and it tends to fight back a bit with recipes, but there is no fighting this one. It is intuitive and easy to use. Exactly what I've been longing for! Premium upgrade is so worth it!!!

Finally…a better recipe manager

Finally...a better recipe manager

Being a foodie and retired geek, I've tried every recipe manager/organizer/solution ever created (seriously), and I've never found anything better than the Paprika app, which has been my go-to since it first came out. But that just changed!

Most all recipe manager apps attempt to do too many things, and they end up failing in their intended purpose of managing recipes. I've always wanted a simple, yet elegant recipe management solution with a beautiful UI and truly functional UX – and I just discovered it with JusttheRecipe! I don't want the unnecessary glitz of things like rating stars, etc. Every recipe I care enough about to save is obviously 5 stars.

The iOS and iPadOS apps appear to be web-based apps, but in this case, that's a good thing, because the UI/UX familiarities are consistent between the apps and the website. I made a quick Safari web app of the web version, and it works flawlessly, leaving Safari free for other things. If you use Chrome, you can do the same thing.

I honestly can't say enough good about JusttheRecipe and its future possibilities. It still needs a few features, but it has a very mature feel to it and but the developer seems very committed.

Amazing App! A lifesaver in the kitchen!

My one suggestion is that I would LOVE to see a feature that let you "add notes" on recipes you save!

In terms of reviewing though, let me be honest: I'm autistic, and sometimes I get overwhelmed very easy. I use my phone in my kitchen because I don't have the counter space for my laptop or tablet. My phone hates recipe websites (it jumps around the page and crashes randomly, which makes me have to refresh and jumps me to the top of the page, and the ads are genuinely overwhelming), and my brain often hates layer after layer of text and filler and the ads.

I used to screenshot recipes on my computer with a dozen layers of Adblock and mineblock on, and send that to my phone to avoid the nightmare that was recipe sites. After learning about this site and app, it's become a vital instrument to cooking and baking, and I'm so, so happy--I've cried over how overwhelmed I've gotten in the kitchen in the past! This saves me from that!

Outstanding!

I’m a chef and restaurant owner. As creative as we all can be…sometimes it’s nice to see how other people do things. When you’re in a busy kitchen and having to dredge through life stories and advertisements it gets super annoying real quick. This is the coolest and most helpful app I’ve ever installed for my profession. I love it and I’ll never go without it. Pay the few bucks for premium! Throw these guys a bone, they deserve it!
