Confusing

2025-01-16

Mealplan was a waste of $50 for me, and as a student I couldnt really afford to flush that money. I bought the annual membership of $49 outright, but was still put through a 7 day free trial that showed me features I would not have when my actually subscribed kicked in. There is no explanation as to what features you get within each price point (or none that I could see). Once my 7 day free trial was up I could no longer access ANY recipes with the mebership I paid for, not a single section. I immediately canceled only to find out I could not be refunded for my purchase as I did not cancel within 48 hours, because I was put through a 7 day free trial showing me lovely features I would not get when it came time for me to pay. Mealplan needs way better explanation of pricing.

Has potential

I like the idea of Mealplan but this one is not quite working for me. The meals are the same every single day. There’s little variety day by day and I personally don’t like that. This might work for people who don’t mind eating the same thing every single day, but not me.
I also find it quite weird that some recipes appear under several athletes as if they created it which makes no sense to me. For instance, a recipe that appears under Lewin will also appear under Heward and I thought these were personalized by athlete, much like the workouts themselves. I cancelled my membership, but I’m willing to get it if the format changes.

Had high hopes

2025-01-16

Was very excited to try Mealplan but it has let me down for the price. This is a nice cook book but that’s about it.

The ‘meal prep’ option for the week does not include true meal prep recipes. All it does is repeat the recipe that you need to make on each day. Some of which include 30 min of boiling then additional pan frying- this is too much to do for a lunch.
Also Mealplan does not allow you to check off what you have eaten each day nor does it work with the fitplan app at all. I was so excited hoping the calories I’ve been tracking with my work out app FitPlan would work with Mealplan- sadly they do not.

Good idea, but needs work.

I just want to start off by saying that I am by no means trying to dog Mealplan I am simply giving my honest opinion about it and what I think would help improve it.
The bad:
One thing that I do not like about Mealplan is that when you generate a meal plan the meals are the same every day. I understand that this might be the case if you were looking to meal prep, but it would be nice if there was an option to have different meals every day or at least some variation.
The good:
Mealplan is very visually appealing in my opinion and has a very high potential to be really good. It is nice that they have different nutrition specialist so that you have different styles of foods based on a specific trainer. It is also convenient that they generate your calories and macro nutrients based on your personal goals along with weight, height, age, and activity. There is also a good amount of recipes available if you look in the recipes tab of Mealplan .
To wrap things up I would say that currently Mealplan is not worth the $9.99 a month subscription unless you are looking to meal plan and eat the same meals every day for a week. I think that if they make the option available where you can chose to have more variation in your meals day to day then it would totally be worth the $9.99 subscription.

Great potential but...

2025-01-16

I just downloaded Mealplan and was getting started with recipes. However, there are too many variables that aren't being accounted for. In the recipes that call for protein powder, every protein powder scoop varies in size. Having a weight would be the best as I don't want to have to buy a specific brand of protein powder to have the right scoop. The only thing I've tried so far is the waffles and it is thus far proving frustrating. I made Belgian waffles and it made 2; I adjusted the recipe to make 4 but this is what I got. Note: my protein powder has greens in it and these were absolutely disgusting and inedible. I had such high hopes for these. I'm a bit nervous to try other recipes with protein powder but looking forward to others. I upgraded my account for more recipes.

Not very good customer service

2025-01-16

I hate to complain but I’d like to express some issues I had with the this app app. I signed up for the free trial to see if I would like it. The free trial said 1 month but I got billed $18 after only 2 weeks?? And can’t get a refund. THEN I went ahead and canceled the subscription after that and it said I could still use Mealplan until September. I just tried viewing a recipe that I had already bought the ingredients for and it won’t even let me see it? I just think that those are some issues that need to be resolved. As a struggling college student that’s just trying to lose the “freshman 15” I would LOVE to use Mealplan but the price is just kind of ridiculous and the policy seems a little sketchy.

Not accurate

2025-01-16

So I like the concept and love the idea but I found inaccuracies. For example, Amanda’s antioxidant shake is the same as cam’s athletic greens shake, it has identical ingredients and the calories are 466 and 230 respectively. The 466 is inaccurate, and for someone who is depending on this accuracy it’s hard to trust now. Also the chicken soup calls for chicken broth in the video but in the grocery items it says water and not broth. And ingredients are missing. So when I went to the grocery and bought the items I realized upon watching the video I was missing items. These inaccuracies makes customers distrust the product and wish that there was a QA on Mealplan who would double triple check the ingredients, calories, and portion count to be accurate.

Wasn’t quite what I was hoping for

2025-01-16

I was a little disappointed that the meal plan repeats the same meals everyday for the whole week. I don’t enjoy eating the same meals everyday all week long. The only way you can change them is by upgrading. If I already paid $3.99 for Mealplan I wouldn’t expect to have to pay again. Also, the whole app has less than 100 recipes spread out over different categories. I do like that you can adjust the serving sizes and the units of measurement.

Has the potential to be great!

2025-01-16

I like the fact that I am learning to cook healthy food however, the recipes are not accurate. For example, the ingredient list for some of the recipes do not match the ingredients on the directions to prepare it. Also, measurements on some items listed are off... for example, instead of listing 1 banana it will say 1 tbsp of banana..... Mealplan has the potential to be exceptional if someone at this app would just go over the recipes and check for accuracy.

Easy to use but not perfect

2025-01-16

I really like that you can see videos of the recipes, add the ingredients to a grocery list tab, and see how much fiber/sugar/protein you are taking in with each meal. I’ve tried a few recipes and they have been simple to follow along. However there was one recipe I tried (Keto stuffed peppers) that had me cut up the tops of the peppers but didn’t explain what to do with them. Little things like that. But I recommend at least trying out the free trial and seeing what works for you. It would be great if there was a way we could provide feedback in Mealplan about the recipe.

Best meal prep planner

2025-01-16

I’ve been using Mealplan since the new release and I’ve had the opportunity to try meals by all the trainers and they all have been phenomenal! I have found unique and awesome ways to make food more natural and healthy and have learned sooo much about preparing food in a better way and super tasty recipes that don’t leave me feeling gross like processed food does. I look forward to my meals and having control over what I put in my body!

Amazing app that helped me easily track macros

2025-01-16

Mealplan is a game changer. I used to count my calories but my macros were out of whack because I was making quick on the go meals. Once I started using meal plan app, my calorie tier was the same but I was getting specific meal prep meals to make that hit my macros exactly where they need to be. I’m slimming down and toning without lowering my calorie intake from Mealplan. Thank you mealplan_app! I’m on Michelle Lewin’s vegetarian plan! 🙏🏼

Best app for meal planning!

2025-01-16

I absolutely love Mealplan. Whenever I would do meal prepping I end up getting so bored that by day 3 I throw out the remainder of my food. Mealplan has awesome recipes that span the week that are both healthy and easy to prepare. Mason Jar salads? Yes please! I also love that I can choose my macros based on my goals, whether I want to lose weight, maintain or put on muscle. Mealplan will be a mainstay in my life for a long time!

Awesome app!

2025-01-16

I recently subscribed to this app app and am really loving it so far! There’s plenty of recipes to keep your clean eating fun, interesting and never boring. There’s also ways to customize your plans based on your preferences, which helps a ton for a picky eater like myself. I’m excited to report back after using Mealplan for a couple of months, but so far this is off to a great start!

Great app!

2025-01-16

For someone who loves to cook but struggles to find healthy variations or lacks knowledge to be creative while still eating healthy. I absolutely love the macros that are included and how you can modify any recipe to adjust for number of servings. Also neat that you can transfer items from a recipe (all or select ingredients) to a grocery list. Only recommendation is to adjust macros for removed items.
