It’s kind of a pain

I tried to give it a month to get used to it before leaving a review. KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion certainly looks nicer but they definitely prioritized form over function here. I don’t love that all credit cards show up as a loan advancement. There are so many more steps to actually go through now to check a single credit card transaction. Also, the transfer is frustrating to use. I use savings accounts as sinking funds, so I do several transfers each month. I preferred the old way, when I never accidentally made a transfer that was only 1% of the intended transfer amount. And yes, I recognize that I should double check before submitting transfers, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not a crappy way to enter the transfer amount. Finally, the way the accounts are listed on the home screen makes it difficult to actually check balances quickly. As I stated before, I use savings accounts as sinking funds, so I have to scroll through three times to view all of my accounts. Even more frustrating, the location of each account on this list seems to change, so I can’t just quickly scroll through a few times to check my balances. Just because checking was on the second scroll last time doesn’t mean it will be there this time. Very frustrating user experience.

Horrible upgrade

My biggest complaint is that all the category tags and notes I had made on what the charges were for are now lost. Lost forever. Nearly a year’s worth of being able to monitor my spending on specific items, charitable donations, everything now lost. Such an irresponsible thing for Kemba to do. No warning that all tags and notes would be lost. Had they done their research on this upgrade they could have warned us to print off information that would be lost.
I’ve now lost the ability to see at a glance what my VISA charges were. Why are they listed as loan advancements? If you have to list them that way, list the merchant first then add the loan advancement.
Did you ask any members their opinion of this update? Any trial runs to see what bugs could have been corrected?
And I didn’t like having to give you my full SSN in order to create a new account for this unacceptable upgrade.
I’m sure as I continue to work my way through this upgrade I’ll find more things to complain about.

Insufficient Alerts

I don’t mind the new update, but I am a bit disappointed in the alert function. Real time push notifications are sorely needed. You can set up text alerts now (I’ve set mine up for anything over $1 so i see everything), but the text can sometimes take hours to come in. Then when you do get it, it just says that a transaction for $X has posted. No vendor info or details to easily identify the charge so you have to then go into KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion to validate each transaction. With more detailed/timely notifications, we’d be able to very quickly confirm transactions or spot fraudulant activity and for that reason, real time/detailed notifications would greatly improve the banking experience for me.

Personal service

I’ve only been a member of KEMBA for two weeks and I am very happy with the friendly personal service. And it’s a bonus that the credit union offers all the newest technology for electronic banking. The KEMBA associates who have taken care of getting me set up have been so helpful and professional.

Great Improvement, Still missed the Mark

While Kemba, did a fantastic job updating the interface. App works great and there are very little if any bugs to be worked out. The look and feel of KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion no longer feel antiquated. The design is beautiful with color and easy navigation.
Missing items: Real Time Push notifications. This should be an industry standard. Getting information about transaction 30 mins later or more can be problematic for users and clients. This could be the difference of preventing fraud or over drafting. Adding the in app messages is a nice touch but have push notification is much better.

New platform

Love the look of the new platform and the additional features but PLEASE update the way the transaction history appears for credit card transactions on KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion and online platform. It does not clearly and easily show the merchant when looking at the transaction list without clicking on the individual item due to jargon showing “loan advance credit card platinum visa…” etc. it makes it difficult to review charges at a glance and if shop regularly it shows all the recent charges that are similar before even getting to the true merchant details. Don’t love this and if doesn’t change will look to using a new card.

Insufficient

I’ve been a member of Kemba and have been utilizing its mobile app for some time now. While KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion is convenient it also serves as the most banking app I use often. I was happy when they came up with the new app but to be honest the whole new app is nothing but below par. It didn’t bring anything new but instead took away much features. For instance when it comes to bill pay(ments) there is no way you can see or view any or all scheduled payments, make changes or even cancelling a payment altogether. I hope the developers of KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion can go back and correct these errors for its a very inconvenient part of KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion .

A better way to bank!

Have been a member at Kemba for years. Have never had a negative experience but have had many positive ones. Am happy that they are always working to improve and update the latest technology. Truly, a better way to bank!

1987, this should tell you, I am so pleased. Fantastic Customer Service department, easy loan approval and the highest interest rates for the city credit unions.

New app is good….except

I like the new app but absolutely hate that the credit card transactions no longer show the name where the card was used in the transaction listing. The only way to see who the charge was for is to go into the transaction and scroll to bottom of the screen. Knowing who a payment went to should be on the main transaction list!

Credit card transaction naming

The naming on the credit card transactions is horrible. All transactions show the same name as “loan visa transaction” so I have to click each of them just to figure out what each transaction is. They show the proper name when it’s pending so why not just keep it that same way when once it’s posted?? Please fix it as it’s sooooo inconvenient having to do this. I should not have to flip my phone horizontally or click each one of them just to figure this out.

So many things

The update to a new platform has removed so many of the things that worked before. You can no longer: See pending transactions, get alerts for transactions (you can set up alerts, but not the merchant, and you have to specify what amount you want to receive an alert for), see a quick balance. The list goes on, but for the sake of brevity all of the things that were great about KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion are now gone.

Terrible

I bank with KEMBA but live out of state , the old app worked fine and was much simpler to navigate and gave better transaction information. KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion looks like you are trying to mimic something like the mint app or quicken, but really it’s just super busy and less functional. The deposit function is always messing up and it’s like playing wac a mole with the camera when taking pictures of checks.

Side note it’s even a pain to put up this review because of KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion .

New Platform is a Major Step Backwards

I used to love Kemba and all the features they provided. Almost all of them are now gone with the platform update. Things that were once done seamlessly and convenient were nuked. Everything now takes multiple steps and connections with 3rd Parties (Quicken and Plaid) are either horribly crippled or just gone, not to be restored. The update upended my financial world and I’ve tried to make it work but I am moving my money to a different bank.

Messages sent are taking longer for KEMBA to answer.
Finding learning curve is BIG using new platform. If you need help be prepared to sit and read through endless information with no visual experience. Program did not take into consideration the average Joe.
Most of all, cannot print out or look at budget reports by month, quarter or year. Every category created was lost.
First time ever I am not happy with KEMBA!

Not user friendly any more

The new app is not nearly as user friendly as the previous app. I don’t like to have to scroll through KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion to get a quick summary of my accounts. Also, the background color is unnecessary. Additionally, I don’t like that you cannot see who the transaction is with without scrolling through the transaction itself. Bring back the old format!

Pretty, but hard to deposit checks

The Check capture function is very sensitive. The “Tap to capture” button doesn’t stay on the screen long enough to “tap” it. It appears the window is very sensitive to distance and placement of the check which makes it hard to remain steady enough to activate the capture function.

“Loan advance”

Please change the logic when you pull credit card charges to show where the card was used and not just “loan advance”. I don’t want to have to drill down on each transaction to see where my card was used. This makes KEMBAFinancialCreditUnion so much less user friendly than your previous app (which was not user friendly but at least I could see where payments were sent).

Too much verification with update

Trying to unlock the account after the plate was a pain. Then even after unlocking it every time I try to log in online it tries to verify through my phone. I’m logging on the computer because I don’t have my phone beside me. Just trying to check my balance throughout the day is stressful with the new system.

New Kemba App

The new app is absolutely terrible. It is much more involved to see a quick balance of all your accounts. Everything was in one place before and now you have to swipe to see each account. There is way too much information shown on one screen. Most of that should be hidden under an “Account Details” tab under profile. Anyway. Absolutely garbage please go back to the old one.

This new platform is awful. Can’t see what your transactions are without clicking into every one and scrolling to the bottom. Why are credit card account transactions listed as loan advanced instead of vendors?
