I'm writing this review to warn others about the terrible selling experience I had on Swappa. I listed my phone for sale on SwappaMarketplace , and it was immediately purchased by a buyer. However, the buyer then refused to pay for the phone, and Swappa refused to help me. I spent weeks trying to get in touch with Swappa customer service, but I never received a response. I eventually had to file a chargeback with my credit card company, but I'm still out the money I paid to list my phone on Swappa.

I'm very disappointed with Swappa's customer service. They were completely unhelpful and unresponsive. I would not recommend Swappa to anyone who is looking to sell a phone or other electronic device.

Here are some of the specific details about my experience:

I listed my phone for sale on Swappa on May 1st.
The phone was purchased by a buyer on May 2nd.
The buyer contacted me on May 3rd to say that they would not be able to pay for the phone.
I contacted Swappa customer service on May 4th to report the issue.
I never received a response from Swappa customer service.
I filed a chargeback with my credit card company on May 10th.
The chargeback was approved on May 15th.
I'm still out the money I paid to list my phone on Swappa, and I'm very disappointed with their customer service. I would not recommend Swappa to anyone who is looking to sell a phone or other electronic device.

There was an error on their site and I got charged hundreds of dollars without ever confirming an order. Contacted them right away, but they did not even respond to the web inquiry. Instead, the seller started sending me tracking info and now he’s lost his shipping fees and I the purchase value. I don’t think I’ve ever had a web merchant not be able to cancel an order when notified right away of an error. Hoping to save everyone else from taking risks with this service.

Been wanting a Swappa app for ages and glad they’re finally on it. Unfortunately app still needs a LOT of work. Tried searching for a phone, tablet and watch and app freezes on each one. Not able to even see a photo or scroll down for item details. The Home Screen “browse our catalogue” is missing watches/wearables category option. Needs to be added.

Swappa has failed me as a customer. A seller refused to complete a transaction, leaving me with $700 tied up for nearly a month. Swappa provided zero assistance in recovering my funds and instead advised me to push PayPal, which has its own lengthy dispute process.

Not only does Swappa fail to enforce transactions, but they also refuse to provide even a minimal courtesy credit or reimbursement for Swappa fees. Their support team is unresponsive and unhelpful, offering boilerplate responses rather than real solutions. A platform that allows sellers to waste buyers’ time and money without consequence is not one to be trusted.

I have been a loyal customer, referring many people to Swappa, but after this experience, I will never use or recommend this platform again. If you value your time, money, and customer service, stay far away from Swappa.

Where to even begin? SwappaMarketplace itself is positively abysmal. Half of its functionality is BROKEN. Photo uploads, form data saving, confirmations, the list goes on. Things will intermittently respond or not, will work or not, some functions are just plain lazily coded and so you have to work around things such as simple combo-boxes because you cannot “choose” when only one choice is possible and it’s filled by default.

If you accidentally upload wrong pictures, or duplicate, you cannot ever delete any photo! You can hide it from being displayed but they now have that photo permanently.

I’ve been selling online since 1998 (yup!), and this has been the most pathetic attempt at a platform I’ve yet experienced.

One single test listing took 20 minutes just to the stage where I get to wait for it to be approved. My eBay listings typically take at most 5 minutes for a fresh product listing.

Fellow sellers: just don’t bother wasting your time. Lower fees are not worth this shoddy experience, not to even mention seller protection who knows what to expect.

I am not pleased with swappa. I was ordering a phone on the site under nycphonebuyer page. I placed my order, checked with my bank to see if it went through. It did. When I returned to swappa, I was met with no account. I had been kicked off by swappa. I contacted the help desk by email. It said they answer promptly in 20 minutes. It is going on a day and a half. I tried contacting through IG and twitter (X) but know answer. I just want to know what happened and if my money us lost. The other part of the story is I contacted nycphonebuyer to see if he received my order. No answer back yet. I don’t know if he received, if swappa notified him of the order, or what. I don’t have time to stress. I recently had a major surgery. I may just chalk it up to a fine, swappa keep this money and lose whole lot more in return

They will delete your account for no reason and give no explanation. I sat aside 2 hours to taking pictures and videos of my item, crafted a good description, included the number they told me to write on a piece of paper, etc, and submitted it for review. No one reached out to me, I went to my profile and it says “canceled” and profile no longer exists. It has lead me to believe that they are collecting your pictures and pretending the item is there own while getting rid of you from the site. So shady! Do not use them.

App is a nicely designed catalog but utterly absent are the tools that sellers need: listing items, modifying listings, seeing your messages, responding to messages, etc. I receive push notifications about messages but appear to have no way to view them in app. I suppose that’s better than no notification at all, but why have SwappaMarketplace if I need to go to the website for every seller interaction?

I’ve been using Swappa for several years and was excited when they launched an iPhone app. I’ve both bought and sold on swappa—good experiences with that process. Their iPhone app has been a little bit of a disappointment:
1. Browsing products is way more work than necessary. For example: go to the iPads section and you’re presented with a massive list and no ability to sort or filter. The same with iPhones. There are simply too many iPhones in existence to not have filtering and sorting. Yet on their website they offer a huge number of sorting and filtering options.
2. In the cameras section, you’re only choice is to scroll left and right viewing only 1 item at a time (really, one at a time!).
3. When you attempt to leave a comment on a product, there isn’t solid feedback you’ve actually submitted the comment.
4. Some of the visual design compared to other shopping apps is a little bland. Specifically the gray boxes on the background.
5. Not all of the product categories are available on SwappaMarketplace . Some are only on the website.

I’m new to Swappa. I’ve been shopping for an iPhone and may try listing items. Listings seem more trustworthy than eBay, although buyers still need to be cautious and do their research, especially since there are numerous complaints about slow or no resolution of after sale problems. The platform seems solid but SwappaMarketplace needs updating as some functions don’t work on that mostly work on website, like sorting filters, ability to like/save listings, etc.

App needs to see some serious love, it feels like the most basic app and like it was created without anyone thinking about the design. That said, it gets you right to the point on condition and pricing and the filters work well, and the fee is very reasonable while still giving you confidence to buy. Will def buy on here again and also probably sell on here in the future.

Audio section of SwappaMarketplace just entirely fails to load.

I’m going to focus on the usability of SwappaMarketplace , it’s very bare bones UI and it is fantastic. Supports the OS dark mode, dynamic type and does try to re-invent its own UI paradigms.

This feels like a more TLC and well managed Craigslist which also tracks with the selling and buying process.

I think the previous reviews are from an older version, but this update gets lots of data in SwappaMarketplace natively. Swappa is the best place to pickup a dev test device or sell some old equipment and I'm looking forward to future updates and new features.

This iPhone XS Max is in Excellent condition ! It was Rated Good but actually it could have been Rated Mint! No visible dents or scratches, or marks on this iPhone, very very subtle wear, you have to really look for it, it’s in Great Shape.
You can tell Matt really took care of this iPhone, and it’s running like a Champion! I consider Matt to be a guy of integrity, you should buy from him. Thanks Matt!!

I like using Swappa because there are plenty of tools for researching what you want. Also, the sellers descriptions are very accurate, and the products are always exactly as described. Additionally, the prices are very competitive. I trust that I will receive what I purchased and what I wanted.

I’ve been using Swappa for a couple years and have had nothing but a great experience with SwappaMarketplace and buying process. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for quality used tech for fair price.

If you’re looking to get a nice, used device and want to ensure you don’t get scammed, Swappa is absolutely the best platform. I’ve never had any issues with them. They do require you to buy through PayPal, which can be a bit of a pain. But nothing that would stop me from using them! Bought my phones from this site for years.

I bought a beautiful phone…that was not usable. Seller said it was locked to my carrier but it wasn’t. I fooled around for a month trying to work with the seller, my carrier and another carrier to get it unlocked. Swappa stood by me and their promises to keep buyers protected from junk and jerks. I finally gave up and sent it back. Swappa stood by me when I had trouble getting my refund too. I appreciate the platform and its support!

I purchased an Apple Watch Ultra 2 from “Boricua Cellphone Shop Kentucky” and am so happy I did. This merchant is quick to respond and provided me with a product that frankly was better than new! My watch was sent out in 40 minutes, and arrived in thoughtful packaging, the watch exceeded my expectations, and for an unbelievable price. I urge other buyers to check out this small business and see this exceptional store for yourself!

I’ve bought at least 6-8 personal phones using SwappaMarketplace and saved a lot of money instead of buying new. This is a great safe way to purchase used phones.
