I like the simplicity of Envy but am no longer wanting to use it because of these issues: there is no way to delete envelopes individually. When you go to “help” it brings up a menu but when you click on a help subject nothing happens and it doesn’t expand for further explanation. When doing a deposit you can’t input cent amounts. You can’t edit a deposit amount if you put the wrong amount in, you have to start over with a new envelope and can’t delete the one you messed up on. Like I said I love the simplicity but the issues have made me incredibly frustrated.
Hello! Just writing to say I love a lot about Envy , such as the ability to add memos to the deductions and the dollar amount at the top. However, I have been noticing some things that I really wish were different. One is that there is nowhere to see what your original total was. I think it would be really helpful to see how much I would be spending per month if I spent everything in each envelope. Perhaps at the top if it was not just the amount left, but something like original amount/amount left, that would help with budgeting a lot. I was able to see the original amount before the month started, but then I realized I needed to add more envelopes, and couldn’t remember how much the total would be.
Also, I wish there was a way to save each month rather than just deleting or resetting. That would help with tracking trends as well.
What also has been bugging me a lot is that editing in Envy is really hard. I have a really hard time with changing the amount in the envelope after I have created the envelope. Sometimes I realize I should have accounted for something else or want to divide one envelope into two, and most of the time I just end up starting over. I feel this could be made much easier.
I am looking for a budget app and came across this app.
It didn’t have a lot of reviews, but I decided to try it anyway.
I was pleasantly surprised.
What I really liked:
- privacy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (no information collected!!)
- price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (only 1 low one-time payment!!!)
- Interface: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(really clean and easy to use. Especially like the add transaction screen’s simplicity!)
- frequent updates, even for a 4-year old app!
(That says the developer cares about this and is committed to it.)
Opportunities for growth (What would make me switch to use Envy):
Accounts section for bank accounts or credit accounts
Transaction quick entry from home page just like quick deposit (maybe use same page for both positive (deposit) and negative (spending) transactions)
Jump to transaction by tapping entry in recent transactions
Charts! See how money was spent by category and date range, see spending vs. earning by date range, bonus: click on category in chart to jump to list of transactions filtered by chart date range
Optional: choose from different logos to personalize (this is obviously not a need, just a bonus)
Overall, while some functionality I use is not yet present, I am very impressed by what I’ve seen. I plan to follow Envy for updates and strongly consider switching in the future! (Btw, to the developer: I would be willing to pay more than $5 for these features.)
Simple to use. At first seemed what I needed. Keeping track of electronic version of cash envelopes. But then I found out it’s limitations. You cannot rename an envelope. No way to delete just one envelope. At least I couldn’t find a way. Plus (and this is HUGE for me), you can’t put in cents. Really? I need to be able to track transactions including the pennies. This adds up over time with multiple envelopes and dozens of transactions while aren’t perfect dollars. These limitations have been brought up in other reviews. So I’ll be deleting Envy .
It’s had to find an app that works this simple. I use it to simply creat envelops for things I purchase every month. I help to see how much money you have all together while splitting the amounts into multiple sections. I can use each envelope to pull out what I need while keeping the remaining in the envelope so that I can save up for next month. The only thing that I would like to have improved at this moment would be that I could move and shuffle each envelope category and place them in an order. I would like them in.
Though there are things that might make it better, (like having an option for envelopes to set up to automatically repeat each month or roll-over), overall it’s simple enough. Too many budget apps want you to categorize everything and go crazy - while I just want to track things like how much I’m spending on groceries each month. I was using the free version just fine, and paid the lifetime $5 because I appreciate a simple, cheap app.
I went to version history to get the email address for support. I could not find it. Hopefully you will see this.
I love Envy , so easy to deposit and withdrawal to keep balance up to date in each envelope and the combined account.
SUGGESTION:
I would LOVE to be able to separate my Saving’s account from my Checking account!
I got nervous when I saw my balance in my bank app and it did not match the this app app. I then realized I needed to subtract my savings balance from the combined total.
I have used many systems over the years and this is the simplest, most efficient way to do it. It’s the envelope system but without carrying cash, let’s you get credit card points, and takes a fraction of a second to use when in line at the store - so it actually gets utilized! I love that there are no ads. I wish more companies were this efficient and simple. It’s a dream. Does exactly what it needs to do, well. I NEVER pay for apps and I’m so glad I took the chance with this app.
I’ve gone through all the budgeting apps literally at least 30. All of them wanted my back information, didn’t offer digital envelopes, or was just over complicated! I needed an app that I could have 5-10 categories on that was easy to use and didn’t require me to put in all my bills and total salary. Nobody uses envelopes for an electric bill or mortgage payment - we use envelopes for the categories that have variations of spending! This was perfect for me. Great app!
I’ve wanted to do the Ramsey Method cash envelope system for years-even purchased the wallet a few years ago. But did I use it? No. Maybe back before online shopping and debit cards it would be practical, but not now. So when I came across Envy, I went all in and have used it from day one. I really like the simplicity and privacy protection as it’s not linked to any of my banking information or accounts. Well done!
I just wanted an envelope system, not to add my bank account, credit card, etc. Definitely didn’t need it in the cloud! Also didn’t want all the updates. I just see how I am doing overall budget wise and where spending is out of hand. This is perfect, plus no ads! So far worth the extra $5 to upgrade and I like the color coordination of envelopes.
Suggestions: be able to sort envelopes via color (this may be available just haven’t found it yet—maybe directions under settings?) and have cents available for envelope deposits.
This is #5 on apps I’ve tried, and it is 1000% worth the $3 to buy the full version! I just have been needing to keep track of each of my spending categories instead of on paper or in excel and this is perfect. Don’t need a million extra things and don’t need to link my account, just need to stick to my budget. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review for an app but had to for this. So glad I found this!
I have been looking for something like this for a very long time!!!! I have used pretty much every envelope and budget app out there and they were always lacking or missing something I needed. Envy allows me to put into my phone what I would do with the actual envelopes at home. Y’all have to try this out!!! Thank you so much for finally developing this!!!! 5 star app!!!!!!
I love using Envy to keep track of my sinking funds. I especially love all the color choices for organizing and how easy it is to use in general, even right from the start. I would love to have the ability to move my envelopes into the exact order I choose in a future update. Since I use this to keep track of my sinking funds, I wish I was able to drag and drop the envelopes down to the bottom of my list once they are fully funded. Otherwise a wonderful app for an excellent price!
Thank you for offering a lifetime access. I cannot keep up with too many monthly or yearly subscriptions and the irony of other apps is how expensive they are for their subscriptions and offering no lifetime access for a single fee. This is the NUMBER ONE way they can ensure strong clientele and that they are really helping people get control of their finances. So thank you for offering what your app is designed to do.
I would love to see a version compatible with iPad and MacBook in the future because I work off of all of my devices.
The envelope style budgeting app I’ve been looking for. I love how it lets you build up envelope balances over time. It’s a little more manual then some apps, which is fine by me. The first of the month after I do my monthly deposit I sit down and reconcile Envy with my bank accounts and credit card, it helps me feel still connected to the transactions. The only thing I wish for is that you could have connected accounts so my significant other and I could both have Envy on our phone and they would share information.
This is a budget app that I was looking for. It’s simple to use unlike a lot of other ones and for one very low price it’s easy to pay for. I do really wish you could share it with someone else though. Like I’d love for my husband to be able to see it on his phone and be able To put in his transactions. That would make Envy perfect.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted an app to help me keep tabs on the different categories of “envelopes” that I use that I don't actually take cash out for.
I like the aesthetic. You don’t need to download/upload anything to and from accounts to use it. It is intuitive and simple to use. And, it barely costs anything. Very happy.
Envy is honestly my favorite budgeting app I’ve ever used. It’s simple and it was a $3 one time purchase to get to use it to its full potential. I love the color coding as well as the quick deposit button that lets me add money to the envelopes in one go as well as the accumulation of the money. Don’t have any complaints about Envy and love the simplicity of it.
I like Envy so far, easy to use. However, the free version only allows 3 envelopes which I. Think is a bit stingy 😳😳 Please make an update so that we can have 4 or 5 envelopes in the free version please! :)
——I just realized the paid version is just $5 and only a one time fee! So that’s worth buyin! Changing my review to 5 stars

Simplistic budgeting that digitizes the cash envelope system and puts you back in the driver seat.
We don’t want to carry cash around but wanted to still utilize the envelope system.
