Onan Cummins is still stuck in the 80’s thinking they are the god of all. Nope. This product is a scam! Look at Victron Cerbo GX. You get real data and control and historical analytics plus true remote/cloud control. This product only reads in 33% increments on the SOC side. Seriously, even your gas gauge is more granular. I hope this product is recalled. It’s created serious safety hazards. It’s auto start turn the generator on even at 100% soc. It is a gamble if you will get accurate reads in the voltage side. Generator hours after numerous factory resets never shows. Maybe 50% of the time after reset you get a voltage reading. It’s sad that the included temp sensor lets you see the battery volts, yet it’s not possibly on the generator house or starter, only very questionable reads at 33% block that never shows accurately to all the other SOC readings outside their crap hardware. Flagship product. Most certainly not. Creating the next titanic, 💯!!! No gold function for remote checking on your system, also absent. The fact they didn’t implement an basic iOT cellular or WiFi option let alone canbus shows how removed from basic industry standard their engineers must be. Can’t wait for the recall and class action. I think I’ll head the start of that.
Update- apparently this is fixed (FINALLY). This could really use a upper and lower temperature to all the generator to cool down a bit before shutting off. When cycling with the temperature setting, for long periods, the generator tends to start hard as a result of a hot shutdown.
CumminsECAGS is the only way to “talk” to the EGS system. While the hardware is very robust and simple to install, CumminsECAGS is clunky at best. It seems that if you log back into CumminsECAGS , while the generator is set to “Auto” it will only allow the generator to turn on once and run for 15 minutes. Then it turns off all automatic functions but leaves the generator in an “auto” state. App and system seem to work best if you set it, then close out of CumminsECAGS and never open it again. Sadly this doesn’t get support from Cummins.
System has not worked since day 1 and calling Cummins support in Tampa and Orlando has offered no support besides no call backs (5 x) and being told by at least 6 different personnel that it is to new and they could not help me and must transfer me, the last time referring me to a saleswoman. Lost all faith in the Cummings generator. Told them I would like to return the part and they said no because it is electronic. So in short they sold me a part that was possibly released to early and does not work the techs can’t figure out how to make it work and I am stuck with the part at a couple hundred dollars.
I have had this system for a year. Several very annoying issues. It logs you out all the time and there is no Face ID. It sometimes will prime for well over a minute if you attempt to prime for more than 10 seconds. It also has no priming option for auto restarting. I would recommend getting something else.
Don’t buy this controller. I’ve had two now. The first one was replaced under warranty because it stopped communication. The second one randomly stops my generator and can’t be depended on to stop it when it’s quiet hour at the RV park. And yea it’s set up correctly. They don’t do returns so I’ll have to fight to get my money back.
I was hoping for the money paid that this system would work somewhat flawlessly.

Always reconnecting - annoying.
Always switches out of auto - annoying.
Not reliable for the auto functions when this is the main function of what you purchased.
Good for manually starting and stopping the generator with in 20 feet.

It cycles 1 to 3 times, then turns off the temp control automatically. Of course, this is very dangerous for any pets. Cummins support has not been able to provide any help and will not refund cost of the product as well as the installation cost.
Doesn’t show battery voltage. Takes itself out of auto mode..which is literally its only job.
This unit is unusable. I’m in disbelief that they put this out there.
Basically read all the other reviews it’s not safe or reliable. Constantly disconnecting and the auto start parameters will randomly turn off. On top of it causing a constant error 14 when plugged in. Our generator is 6 months old and has 10 hrs on it, Never had a problem plug this unit in and bam within an hr it’ll throw the error 14 and shut down. Unplug it and it’ll run fine. The generator has its own error code display and never shows any issues and has run for 12hrs straight without an issue thought it was a problem with the installation took it in to get checked and have a Onan authorized service center install the unit and bam runs 1 hr and shuts down. They messed with it for hrs and the best they got was it ran 4 hrs and then did the same thing. They finally got it replaced under warranty installed a new unit and guess what 1 hr goes by and shuts down error 14. They removed the 2nd unit and ran it just fine we now have almost 200hrs on the generator and never had a problem. Do not buy this
Update: gateway firmware update (via CumminsECAGS) on April 13th, 2023 appears to have addressed the issue of the auto start changing from a/c activation based on temperature to battery monitoring.
In a test run today, I ran the AGS and air conditioner long enough on a hot day for the generator to start. Cool the van by running the a/c, then stop when target temperature was reached, and start again when the temperature rose.
The rest of my feedback on CumminsECAGS continues to stand. Cummins took a good step forward, but there’s more to do.

The auto-start module is sold as a way to keep batteries charged, interior of the RV at a safe temperature, or both. The software in the gateway and that in CumminsECAGS are unreliable. After one cycle of temperature-activation, the gateway then thinks it is supposed to only monitor batteries (even if set to NOT monitor battery voltage) and the RV interior is allowed to overheat. CumminsECAGS constantly asks for passwords and reauthorization rather than simply reconnecting to the generator. It gets tiresome and could so easily be fixed. There is no way to reset the “hours to service” after doing an oil change on the generator, making the maintenance interval reminder completely useless. It’s not just CumminsECAGS that’s flawed, it’s the firmware in the gateway.
Getting the coach ready for an upcoming trip i decided to change the oil. I have been ALL OVER CumminsECAGS , there is no way found in how to perform a reset! It appears onan has bigger fish to fry, they are OUT OF TOUCH of customers needs…. Too bad, all this was a great idea… tisk tisk
