Beyond useless.

CASIOWATCHES only works when you have access to data. Want to control your watch in the woods? Sorry. How about in a foreign port where you don’t want to incur roaming charges? Sorry again. In an airplane with no access to the internet? Tough. The primary purpose of CASIOWATCHES seems to be streaming your advertising for other watches, and actually controlling your watch is an afterthought.

An “offline” mode that allows you to require only Bluetooth is really needed

Shame on the Casio marketing department, I’ve just spent my last dollar with Casio. Something I’m sure their marketing department didn’t have in mind.

Fails to connect to my watch

App is too buggy. First it asks user to re-enter purchase date, instead of importing it from the Casio apps it replaced (MR-G connected and G-SHOCK connected.)

Then it utterly fails to connect to the watch. It just says it failed. No other info. Despite following instructions carefully to register the Watch with another app. Ugh. For luxury MR-G this user experience is awful. And for G-Shock watches that aren’t THAT complex/smart, this should just work flawlessly.

CASIOWATCHES does not match the superb quality of the watches it is supposed to serve. I hope Casio improves the apps quality by a lot.

By

It works

It syncs with my GAB-2100 without any issues and I’m able to make certain adjustments to the watch through CASIOWATCHES . That’s all I really need from it and it does the job well.

By

Needs work

It’s frustrating that CASIOWATCHES only works for some Bluetooth Casio watches, and I have to keep the other G-Shock connected app for other BT G-Shocks. And also, for Casio MRG owner, it lost that premium feel of the old Casio MRG App. It’s a down grade in terms of user experience.

By

Useless

Pointless and frustrating...refuses to connect with the Ocianus despite multiple tries following instructions scrupulously.
At least the Casio app from last year worked occasionally.
To say the Oceanus has Bluetooth connectivity with CASIOWATCHES is false advertising at it's best...don't bother downloading

How can it be so bad?

When I want to add my newly bought watch to CASIOWATCHES , the screen gets locked on the compatible watch list and the "close" button can't be activated. I updated the os on my iPhone xs max, but the problem is still there. How can such a big company have such a bad app?

By

Just start over

CASIOWATCHES is useless, all it has are ads for the watch some registration information. Casio needs to do better, they make great watches but their apps, not so great. I like the idea of one app for all their watches but this misses the target.

By

App can’t connect to internet

I can’t get CASIOWATCHES to connect to the internet. I’ve tried it on 2 different devices, same network error message. Very poorly built program

By

New UI is made by interns””

The older one is classy, this new one doesnt even have a “Home Time” menu when I connect my MR-G. So to switch your Home Time and World time you have to
1. Set your world time
2. Make that the active time
3. Set another world time
4. Flip the World time

It is now so many clicks when you change both your home time and your world time.

GM-B2100GD not yet supported.

Received my GM-B2100GD. CASIOWATCHES is supposed to support the watch but the database hasn’t been updated yet.

Nothing works

Cannot sign in, cannot create an account. Passcode never send to email. Piece of trash.

Works well but apple users may need some extra steps.

I recently bought a Casio G-Shock GA-B2100-A1. One of the exciting features of this watch is like the legendary watch it was inspired from, the GW-5000, It auto sets the time so it is always 99-100% accurate to the second. But with the GA it’s Bluetooth, while the GW is Multi Band 6. This means the GW doesn’t need a phone, it will try and sometimes be successful (or not) one of 6 time stations via radio waves at night. The GA uses your phone and 4 times a day. That’s actually really good since most people have the phone always within 20 feet or so from them. So what the catch? Well with an android phone there are less restrictions on apps being launched in the background. But, on our beloved Apple phones, we have to keep CASIOWATCHES running in the phone’s queue to allow the watch to communicate with the Casio app. If you clear CASIOWATCHES out of queue, the watch will not be able to connect one of the 4 time and thus not allowing this awesome feature to work.

Worst Customer Support Ever

I originally bought the GBD-H1000 as I sought out a smart watch that wasn’t an Apple product. I was disappointed that it was only really designed to record running, shame on me for not doing more research.

I received a pre-order promotion for the new GBD-H2000 and was excited that it’s capability had been expanded.

I downloaded the new Casio Watches app to my phone and it immediately told me that there was a software update for this brand new watch.

I followed the instructions on CASIOWATCHES to conduct the software upgrade. When you get to a certain point in CASIOWATCHES , you need to scroll down the page to get to the link to update the software but the page does not scroll.

Multiple phone calls to Casio Customer Support and no one knows how to fix the problem. Every call I got transferred to a different support group and no one in the company knows who is responsible for fixing their app so that you can actually download the software upgrade.

Absolutely disgusted. I own a dozen G-Shocks and I will never purchase another.

A brand new product release and CASIOWATCHES and software do not work properly and no one in this international company knows how to fix this problem?

Average with good potential

Initially i had difficulty updating my watch but managed to get to the update button after reducing my font size. First tab should really be to “my page” or “my watch” but its a small inconvenience. Maybe future updates of software will allow us to choose. Functionally everything else works well as i expect.

Feature missing from G-Shock app

I transferred my data from the G-shock app to CASIOWATCHES as prompted, as theG-Shock app will be discontinued. I have a gba-800, and with the G-shock app there was a share function that allowed one to choose a photo and have that day’s step data imprinted on it. I’ve been using this nice feature to journal my hikes across the country and now that isn’t available in CASIOWATCHES.

I feel that of one is to replace an app at least the existing features should be on the new app, and even add additional functionality. I hope there will be updates coming, and I’ll update my rating then.

By

App doesn’t show accurate numbers

I have the GBD-800 watch and for some reason my steps register as high activity, walking 15-20k steps a day it shows me burning triple the amount it used to show on the Connected app. Also if I don’t connect my watch within 6 hours the steps I took don’t register (used to be fine for up to a week on the Connected app). Nice looking app with a bunch of ads but lost almost all its functionality, I have to look at data from before the data transfer just to get an accurate figure for calories burned and look at my steps before midnight to make sure I got the full step count

By

This was a terrible decision

The prior G-Shock app worked perfectly. Time synchronization worked on time, every time. CASIOWATCHES does the exact opposite of what was promised by Casio and the developers of CASIOWATCHES . This is considered false advertisement, especially considering the purchase price of my watch and the available functions as advertised upon purchase. Now I have to manually synchronize which defeated the purpose of why I purchased my GST-B100.

As a web and IOS app developer myself, I can’t understand why you decided this was good venture to embark on. Just to push advertisements in our faces? I’ll be filing with the FTC and consulting a consumer right attorney.

DW-H5600 Usage

The only health tracking is through ‘My Page,’ which is minimalistic. Lots of info, just not able to categorize or look through historical charts. No link to Apple Health. The purpose of this watch is for data and CASIOWATCHES doesn’t give you much choice on how to display it.

No offline mode. Which is awful as these are situations that a G-Shock is kind of in its element.

I don’t know if I would have spent the money on this had I know CASIOWATCHES functionality was so abysmal. I wish they had also paid Polar for their application team and not just the hardware.

By

Thinly disguised ad pusher/data collector

The old app was a space hog but at least did not push in your face ads. It was functional and worked well. It also respected privacy by not requiring an account in order to use it. This new app can’t be used without setting an account and being forced to watch ads before one can even access any functionality. Do you really need to share you email and personal info to set up an alarm or a time zone? Shame on you Casio!

By

Updated App a major disappointment

The previous App had some cool UI and animations, great startup time, some instructions on how-to, but was littered with misspellings and bad navigation.
The new app fixes the spelling mistakes but has a startup time of 10 seconds - to a marketing page, an additional 2-3 seconds to get to the watch page. No cool UI and no animations, but at least the misspellings are gone. No how-to instructions but for a link to a webpage manual. Casio has some of the best watches with great functionality but has decided not to invest in a great app. Hope the next app will combine the two and be as impressive as the watch line-up.

By

Why

Old G-Shock app worked great. No issues. Go on one day and it says I need to get new app. I have to set up all my watches again and reconnect to the new app, bad start. Now, syncing and connecting is way more clunky and requires more taps. My watches no longer sync automatically and when I manually sync, error every time. Bad all around.

Casio/G-Shock need to figure it out as they continue to push more bluetooth and connected watches. I have been a G-Shock owner for over a decade and new customers are not going to deal with this clunky bluetooth garbage. Great in theory, poor execution.

By

App doesn’t support all new watches

Both Casio’s new DWH5600 Gshock watch models are on CASIOWATCHES to register but after you register, it doesn’t give you a portal for Bluetooth syncing with these Casio Watches phone app. So your not able to do with this watch what you bought it for so after many hours of trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I realized after I was able to sync my other Bluetooth Gshocks with CASIOWATCHES , that it wasn’t anything I was doing wrong, its CASIOWATCHES that’s not updated and it wasn’t me so I return this watch and I’m very disappointed.

By

App Works Fine

I had issues at first but once they updated CASIOWATCHES to support my watch, everything works fine now. yah the ui could be better but it's not a big deal and i'm sure they'll update it in the future.

By

Works fine for me!

i haven’t had any problems with CASIOWATCHES really. I own an Oceanus T200S and a GBD-2100 and i think the automatic time sync is just awesome. i love being able to set my watches entirely in CASIOWATCHES . When i travel by plane i just hit the sync button on my watch and it automatically adjusts to the local time. I feel like james bond

Terrible app

Oceanus app for Oceanus Casio watches was discontinued in Sep 2022. The original Oceanus app on the iPhone was decent. The basic Casio app is now used for connecting to the Oceanus watch. CASIOWATCHES is a disgrace compared to how nice the actual watch itself is (I have the T200). Shame on Casio for combining the worst software in the world with superb, truly outstanding, hardware. I feel bad for the engineers that worked to put the watch design together - they must be ready to commit suicide over having been set up with this software. Not only is it unintuitive and not easy to use - it is UGLY. Please fix this asap!

By

Stay on the old app if you can!!!

CASIOWATCHES is absolutely egregious. All I want to do is be able to adjust the time and settings on my almost $600 watch. There is no need for me to register for an account and provide location data to do that. CASIOWATCHES despite being newer somehow offers LESS functionality than the older one. The interface looks like it was designed by a toddler. Unfortunately I already transferred my watch data so there is no going back, don’t make the same mistake I did.

By

New app is impossible !

I like so many others attempted to up the time on my watch. Told I had to download another app. Did so, it said it transferred all of my information. Did not work at all ! Said I needed to now sign-i. I did that, it still doesn’t work. The “g-shock” app worked flawlessly. I don’t understand how this be soooo screwed up ! Terrible app ! I never need to purchase another Casio watch again.

By

Mad at Casio

Dear Casio,
I would like to first say the reason I wear your watches is due to the dependability and reputation for quality. All of this being said I purchased a watch with a built in step tracker and love it. This past week I was prompted to migrate my watch to the “new app” for a better experience.

The new app is nothing more than a storefront for more products that I neither want or need. All of the things I fell in love with your watch and g-shock connect app are gone and I have to deal with this goofy interface that is in no way what I want.

To be honest I would love to go back to the old app and deal with it being out dated as opposed to what I have now. Please do something for the people who want to use your watch to it’s full potential without having you try to sell me something every time I try to log in.

By

Terrible “Upgrade”.

The previous app was simple. Connect, time autocorrected, I could go about my day. Now, time will not autocorrect. It will not keep my required time zone. Now will not even synch time to my needed time zone. This effectively makes this watch useless to me as I need it for work and cannot stop every 5 mins to update my time. Until they fix CASIOWATCHES, return your havocs to the store you got it and buy a cheap watch or another brand. They’d both be more reliable at this point.

By

App is NOT stable!!!

Installed CASIOWATCHES . Added 31 gshocks. Paired my 17 Bluetooth watches with CASIOWATCHES . 2 days later it crashed and I lost all 17 BT watch pairings. Then I just paired one BT watch with it - the watch I am wearing. Less than a week later CASIOWATCHES crashed again and I lost that watch pairing as well. CASIOWATCHES is nicely designed and has nice features, but all of those features are useless if CASIOWATCHES keeps crashing. If it happens again, I’ll just stop using BT on my watches and revert to MB6.

Can’t export fitness data 😕

The g-shock move app allowed you to link your health/fitness data with Apple HealthKit, the new Casio watches app omitted this for some reason, tbh if I can’t export the health data to my main tracking app then I have no reason to use CASIOWATCHES or a Casio watch for fitness tracking. It feels like a bit of a confusing step backwards. Plenty of reviews of their recent fitness tracking watches mention this as a huge negative, so hopefully they prioritize it as an upcoming feature, until then a lot of users lost a huge value prop 😕

By

Why the negative reviews?

I really expected a buggy app based on reviews, but it works exactly as described. Push a button on the watch to connect, make settings changes in CASIOWATCHES , send the settings to the watch. Voila! Automatic time synchronization works if your phone is nearby, but you can also sync time (and location though…) to the phone with quick push of another button. Takes 5-10 seconds, has worked for me every single time. Syncing 2 watches.

By

Terrible with fitness tracking

The watch is absolutely amazing but CASIOWATCHES is very frustrating. It will link to Strava but it only actually sends data to Strava about 50% of the time. If you miss a day of syncing the watch to CASIOWATCHES it won’t update past data on previous days. It will show you were inactive the day you didn’t sync. There needs to be a force sync option and the button that says “send to Strava” needs to actually function. Overall CASIOWATCHES needs a complete overall for fitness tracking.

By

Does not send text message or email notifications to my watch

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and the only part that works with notifications for my DWH5600 is phone calls. I do not get text message or any other notifications sent to my watch. And yes - notifications is turned on in CASIOWATCHES and the watch. Very frustrating. I tried to delete the watch and add it back, unpair it etc etc. it still does not send notifications to my watch.

By

Worse

All I wanted to do was update the time after a flight, and I was confronted with instructions to change to a new app. I did the data transfer as suggested, installed the new app, and.. nothing. There is nothing there. I do know that I am now constantly badgered to create an ID. I see no reason Casio needs any user information from me to support a product they have been supporting until now. Given the complete absence of data after following the instructions, I have no confidence in continuing to use this new app. Why, Casio? Why? It’s worse now, while before it was simple and elegant. What a disappointment.

By

Simple app to use…

Was able to easily connect watch to my iPhone which was why I bought a Bluetooth watch, though Casio makes it very confusing to find the correct app!

By

It wasn’t broke but they thought they’d fix it

I LOVED the simplicity of the previous app and if I needed to sync my watch it was a easy one step method. Now with the new app it’s not been able to sync. I hope they did not pay for this new app!

By

They created this app to scrape your data and sell it to third party vendors.

The previous apps for gshock and MRG watches was fine. The only reason to move to this new app is so Casio can spy on you and sell your data. There’s no reason you should need an app to get all the features your watch comes with. Further, that functionality shouldn’t require you to create an account and agree to have your location, contact and usage data sent to Casio so they can do whatever they want with it because you bought a watch.

I’ve been a gshock owner since I was a teenager. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on their products. I’m done. I bought watches, not spyware.

By

Terrible App

I love my G-Shock watches and my Edifice watch, but the Casio Watch app is absolutely the worst app I’ve ever used. It fails to connect with my iPhone (12) and and always requires password verification, which it doesn’t recognize, forcing a password reset, and then never actually sends an email to update my password.

You need CASIOWATCHES to synchronize Bluetooth enabled watches, and check the watches battery status, but must be logged in to enable this functionality - and there’s zero app functionality if you’re not logged in.

Don’t bother with the Casio app, unless you enjoy being frustrated!
