Though I put the correct log-in information, it does not let me log in. The logo is spinning and it never let me go any further. I reinstalled Understood , changed the password and tried again. It let me submit the log-in info but nothing happened. No “wrong info” warning, no next page, and no nothing. I hope this tech glitch will be fixed soon.
I think some of the content could be very useful, but it’s difficult to access. I’d like to try it again after the next update.
Device is an iPhone 12 with iOS 15.6.1
So far the issues encountered are:
1) I made a post to a group yesterday. Today it says I have a comment, but I haven’t been able to access/see it. When I click on the post from the feed it doesn’t show any comments, it only gives me the option to make a comment.
2) There is an issue when trying to view or download the printable resources. It requests an email to subscribe to emails or to log in. If you’ve joined Understood via Google sign in there’s an error message that says “let the developer know that Understood doesn’t comply with Google security…blah blah blah”. I’ve tried emailing and texting it to myself which just opens it up in Understood and I keep encountering the same issue
3) I highly recommend adding a tech support link or adding a group/thread for people to ask tech related questions in the actual app, vs needing to go back to Understood Store to find how to communicate with the developer.
The only reason I’m taking the time to do this is because I feel the content could be helpful/great! But the format and interface is lacking.
It’s clear that the people who created this site want to be helpful. But they missed the boat. When one has dyslexia, they have trouble navigating the written word, and that is this entire app. Not one opportunity for voice to text or any videos. I didn’t give it one star because they do try to block the different topics so it’s not horrible to navigate. But there are a lot of questions posted by parents, and it’s difficult to find the experts who are actually giving advice versus people just sharing their experience. Also, the advice is pretty much anything you get anywhere on the Internet. I feel bad giving a poor review, because you can tell the experts care. But time would be better spent advocating for more streamlined support than passing out generic advice on an overwhelming platform.
Looks good but impossible to change some settings, like role of parent vs “here for me”. Also Categories not specific enough to get proper references
Love the idea and helping me understand behavior and triggers. But I can’t add more than one child? How can I track more than one kids behavior?
Seems like there are some good ideas to help with adhd related behaviors. Hoping for more involvement and tips. A large robust community would be most helpful but I have yet to see if there is much involvement.
As a parent of a child with special needs, Understood has been a great resource. I especially appreciate the ability to interact with experts and other parents dealing with similar challenges.
Love having a go-to place to talk to other parents with kids with learning challenges. Especially when we’ve had a particularly bad day. It’s great to know others are out there
I’m a therapist who specializes in ADHD and I am also a mom who has ADHD and parents kids with ADHD. Understood is (so far) everything that I have been looking for to help my clients (parents) with understanding and working with their kiddos.
The community on here is open. I don’t feel judged when I ask questions about my child’s disabilities. The experts are knowledgeable and sound like they really care, too.
What a great app and resource for parents and educators who want to find information and ways to help their students and kids who are navigating all that comes with ADHD, learning disabilities, and other mental health issues.
It’s so cool to find a space to be able to talk about my daughter’s ADHD. Not just with other parents (although that’s great) but with doctors and teachers and people who are experts in this field too. Other parenting groups can be challenging if you don’t have neurotypical kids, but I feel at home here.
As a parent who has 4 children (3 diagnosed with ADHD and/or dyslexia) Understood is a great find. I just started using it and I am excited to explore more of what it offers. I’m always looking for ways to support my children thriving in school. My favorite quote about ADHD, “Creativity is ADHD gone right,” and it’s so true. Our brains work different, but that’s not a bad thing.
Understood is so helpful for parents! I enjoy receiving encouragement from other parents experiencing the same struggles as well as getting great advice from trained professionals. Truly a game changer!
I’m really enjoying a book study on Dyslexia right
As a single mom with neurodiverse kids, it’s hard to relate to regular mommy groups or feel comfortable on Facebook groups…always seem like I’m being judged or getting uninformed advice. Wunder is a breath of fresh air! I finally feel safe knowing other parents are going through the exact same thing. And the experts! No more desperate googling at 3am. Sharing with all my mom friends!
I’ve gone all the way through math. And what did I learn?
I learned that math deserves to be hated. It’s not your fault.
Wanna hang out today?
Understood is great! The person who made it is really cool and very good at their job! Keep up the amazing work :)
Thank you so much!
I love Understood! It’s full of helpful resources to help kids thrive in school. Absolutely recommend downloading it to learn more about ways you can help your children be successful.
