Require an annual subscription. What a bunch of bullocks. I have used the app for years. Developer says they “need to stay competitive?” Requiring a fee has nothing to do with being competitive. I have never used the sync feature. I don’t want it. I would rather continue using the basic functions as I have for years. $3 a month is steep for something that used to be free….

I use to have the Plus subscription, but cancelled because I wasn’t using the features from the subscription. Imagine my surprise seeing that now you must have a subscription!
It’s sad to see yet another developer come up with a lame excuse (“the main feature in our app is the ability to sync”) just so they can charge you monthly.

Tell me about a company that doesn’t have a clue what customer base they serve - looks like I found them.
They decided to charge a subscription model (a very expensive one too) without a one-time purchase option, to the very customers they serve, the money and budget conscious, the financial savvy, the only group of people who aren’t stupid enough to fall for the subscription scam.
And the new app isn’t great either, and iCloud sync is gone. Did you read what data is linked to you? Do you truly trust your data with them? Never, trust is earned.
Also, they proved to leave you in the dust as a customer in a moments notice. The old app will likely be killed, even if they say they won’t, why wouldn’t they? They may accidentally screw it up and force you to update. It’s a playbook. But even if they don’t, one iOS update will prevent it from working. So why should they have my hard earned money for them owning me and my data? After they proved to not care about their loyal customers.
You can choose to be competitive but for an app like this, you need a tier with basic features for a one time price.
