Simple advice - Don’t buy if you are from USA

Against all the advice provided by the previous reviewers, I went ahead and bought eSim and selected the 25 Euro 60GB plan. I thought I am invincible and lucky. But not the case. Not sure how it worked for some small percentage of reviewers. Lucky, I guess, which I also thought I was! Since I landed in Spain 5 days ago, and activated my account and eSim, I am not able to get data. I get connected to 4G, but no data. I could call customer service but no prompts for English. But to setup voicemail, which you might never use as a tourist, there is an English prompt! Whoever thought through this is a genius.

I am not even sure how to get my money back. That’s the least Orange can do for wasting my time and money.

Data does not work, customer service very bad

THESE DO NOT WORK!! I got one for my trip to Spain, and the data does not work at all. They do not offer refunds or help, and when trying to contact them during my trip they either could not contact me in English, or required an international call (which their data not working was preventing). They refuse to offer refunds, and take days to respond to service requests. I would NOT get this- I ended up getting Holafly and it was great! Would recommend that over orange any day.

DO NOT BUY!! STAY AWAY!!

If I could give them negative stars I would!

If you’re thinking about getting a SIM or eSIM for your travel abroad, DON’T! This is a scam. It absolutely does not work and to make matters worse, there is no one you can reach out to. No one to help, meaning, after you pay for the service you need they leave you stranded. There is no contact number to call, after you do extensive research you’ll find one phone number but it’s only in French, no other language option. You find yourself forced to email them and no one ever replies or reaches out to you.

I’m not new to eSIMs or purchasing data for travel abroad. I followed all the steps and got a message stating that I went through the installation process successfully, only to find out that both eSIMs I purchased didn’t work. I still haven’t heard from anyone at Orange and quite frankly don’t even expect to anymore.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM ORANGE!

Recieved no data on my SIM

I purchased a 25€ Sim for Spain. As I landed, my phone connected to signal but I could not receive any data. After a few hours, I recieved a SMS that there was no data on my SIM. I contacted support and they were extremely slow and did not resolve the issue. I asked for a refund and they said they had to send me to secondary support, which took a couple more days. By that time, I was back in the U.S. Orange secondary support also refused to provide me with a refund as I had activated the SIM., so now I am disputing this with my credit card company.

Stay away! There are many other eSIM providers out there.

Customer service is terrible

My eSim hasn’t been working, and their supposed “24/7” support takes full days to respond to my issue, only to provide issues that do not work, then take more days to respond.
Do NOT buy from Orange

Useless app, terrible service

As others have mentioned, OrangeTravel will not tell you anything about your current usage. Also, as others have mentioned, the service is awful. It was complicated to set up, and I have had a problem when an incoming call from Ireland used up all my non-Europe minutes. My plan was supposed to have free usage within Europe, where I am. Ireland is also considered one of the European countries where this plan is valid. So I asked customer service, and I’ve had two days of email back-and-forth, mostly on my end. They are not giving a straight answer why Ireland is eating up all my non-Europe minutes. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking down on my 14 day validity, with a phone I can’t use to dial outside of Europe. And even if I did speak French, there’s no way to call them. You get to speak to a robot. And the robot obviously doesn’t answer your question.

Paid for data but can’t activate.

I paid for data plan in Italy, try to activate but it didn’t work. Contact their customer service and after a several emails back and forth they said they refund me money but it will take 10 to 15 business days to process. It’s ridiculous, why takes that long to get a refund, will see if I ever get a refund from them . Don’t waiste your time to buy a data plan with them, specially when you traveling and don’t have time to deal with this problem.

Do Not Recommend - eSIM did not work

I have an iPhone 15 pro max. Buying an eSIM and installing it was easy. However, upon arriving to Spain, the eSIM did not work! I contacted customer support many times both in English and in Spanish and they claim different issues every time. I ensure to follow the instructions and active my eSIM upon arrival to Europe and they claim it will work once I get to my final destination.

Then, they claimed I never bought an eSIM. I showed them my receipt and I can see my bank statement shows the charge but they refuse to acknowledged my transaction and will not issue a refund. They keep insisting to buy a new eSIM or to “recharge” to resolve my issue.

I would not recommend Orange since I’ve been left in another country without service. Their customer service is the worst to deal with. Constantly, telling me to contact different numbers and all had similar conversations with no results. I had to fall back to my primary carrier (which I didn’t want to do since they have bad international rate).

This looks like a scam

So I bought their Orange Holiday Zen plan for use in London, UK. I followed their instructions on what to do prior to flight, during the flight and after the flight. I didn’t experience any problems. I landed at Heathrow and my phone (iPhone 14 which is unlocked) was showing 4 bars as well as that it connected to EE network. I thought to myself that it was awesome. The trouble came when I tried to send a message to my AirB&B host about my arrival time. AirB&B kept on saying I was offline. Then, I opened maps app, and it told me I didn’t have any connection. I rebooted my phone. That didn’t help. I was able to connect to wifi finally to send the message. I was also lucky to get a cab at the metro station to take me to my staying place. I had no idea how to get there with luggage without my phone. I was able to get a data only plan via GigSky which worked beautifully for me. So I sent a message to Orange to complain about my problems. And …. Nothing. No response. It has been about a week. I do not believe in nagging. I figured that the only way to get any attention was to write a negative review. If this doesn’t work, I will try Twitter. These companies seem to understand social media complaints better than direct messaging.

Useless

Not working. Paid 49 Euro. Asked for a refund and did not receive any response regarding my request other than to try again.

total garbage

both my e-sims stopped working after 2 days, wouldn't make calls to Switzerland after 30 minutes despite being marketed as unlimited SMS in Europe. stay away.

Do not buy!! Just a scam

I tried to purchase OrangeTravel and all I end up getting was the bill, I was charged and never got the eSim, I wrote to them through OrangeTravel and they never answered, I will give them -10 if I could, DO NOT PURCHASE don’t throw your money away

Buying only

OrangeTravel is OK. It’s mediocre and incomplete. I bought an eSIM through the website, then added that account to OrangeTravel. The eSIM I added before my trip worked flawlessly upon arriving, as did my spouse’s. However, inside OrangeTravel, you can buy new eSIM cards or supposedly add money to your existing account, but the basic functionality of seeing how much data and minutes you have left on your account at the moment is notably and painfully absent from OrangeTravel. Two stars.

High hopes for ESim….MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT

I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I purchased multiple European All Inclusive Holiday Zen packages. The installation was not the easiest, the instructions were dated and no help was to be found online unfortunately. Once installed (something you can’t do before landing) we NEVER could get the cellular data to work, so no maps, internet, iMessages, access to online files where itinerary are, etc. while in a foreign county. The customer help is mostly automated and only available though email 8am-8pm, which is impossible to deal with when touring without cellular. When they finally sent a reply email, hours later, it was cookie cutter facts and didn’t apply to the settings for our iPhone 13s even though I told them what model & iOS I had. DO NOT recommend purchasing unless you only want a European phone number to call each other when lost. Still working with Orange to see if compensation is possible…not hopeful.

Expensive

Good service but ridiculously expensive pricing.

Incomplete user interface

While I was able to top-up my plan through OrangeTravel , I find it a bit frustrating not being able to find any details about it, such as the amount used, etc…

It definitely has much room for improvement. I.e.: allowing you to log back on without the need to re-enter your pw every time, but that’s just my opinion.

I think it’s a bit confusing for Orange customer service representatives as well. One pointed out a name for OrangeTravel “mi Orange” which I could not find, and it ended up being this one.

I also thought I’d be able to correct some information through OrangeTravel , but that seems like it’s not an option on there. I couldn’t do it online, and was told to try doing it through OrangeTravel . So… how can I get that done if there aren’t options for that?

Overall, it got the job of allowing me to top-up my plan—albeit with some slight confusion and frustration.

I’m hopeful for bigger and better improvements.

Essential for a trip to europe

I’ve used OrangeTravel several times i’ve the past year and have had great coverage throughout europe. I have an iphone 13 and the e sim instantly activates via OrangeTravel . Much cheaper than using your american carrier, OrangeTravel is 100% the way to go!

Not as bad as the reviews say

Hi all - was nervous to try this because of the bad reviews. For me the installation process was seamless, I followed all the provided instructions. IMPORTANT NOTE - make sure on iPhones in your “Cellular” settings, when you click on the eSIM card, there’s an option for “data roaming”. Turn that ON. I had a minor hiccup in activating my data until I figured out that needed to be on. Otherwise no issues and works exactly as promised.

Mediocre app, excellent service

OrangeTravel UI isn’t the greatest, but these eSIMs are my favorite when traveling to Europe. Good price per gig, a phone number with free European calling, seems to connect to all the major European mobile providers at full speed and with 5G support. I’ve been very pleased whenever I’ve used their eSIMs.

Simple and easy to use

Had tried to use another app, ubigi, but couldn’t get that to work. The orange app was really simple and easy and worked without issue.

Would be better if it supported apple pay.
