Was okay, but now is unusable

Captions was decent when it was free. There were some major problems with it, such as when you download the video the this app move to the left like an entire inch (which was relatively simple to combat, just put it in the super wrong place when in-app and check after you download to see if it’s in the right place). But now, they decided to make Captions cost $8 A MONTH (which is an insane price for any app, but especially one that doesn’t work very well). I don’t know anyone who would pay that much for any app, especially one that’s sole purpose is to caption videos. If it was a one-time cost, I would consider it, but Captions honestly still isn’t even worth $8 just once. I’m extremely disappointed that Captions costs money now, especially since there are still some major issues with it that make using it for work far more difficult than would be ideal. At least fix your app before you charge people an insane amount of money to use it.
Force you to pay and lost all my content

With no warning today, they now force you to pay over $40 a year in order to use this. Tiktok and other social media websites offer transcription for free. I am now deleting Captions. I would have preferred them to add ads to it for the free version, instead of forcing us to pay for the same services that we were getting for free. Also I had multiple videos that I made for months and can no longer access them without paying for the subscription. Very disappointing
Used to be amazing

I used to use Captions daily to caption videos for my Snapchat story because me and a lot of my friends have auditory processing issues. It was great! Until they decided to make you pay. I wouldn’t have a problem if they had a pro option where you could make 3 minute videos, change the caption color, and save all the clips you record in Captions . The issue is I can’t use it at all! I don’t need all the bells and whistles, just let me record up to a minute in plain white text. If you have me a pro version and the basic, I probably would’ve upgraded pretty soon, but because I can’t use any features without paying, I will be deleting this app and finding another app. YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR BASIC ACCESSIBILITY!!!
Needs many improvements

I like that the this app are auto generated, and they’re about 80% accurate. But I hate that I can’t resize them or move them anywhere besides screen left. Sometimes the this app cover up graphics that I place on videos. The new scrolling feature gives more control over which segment of the video you’re on, so you don’t have to wait for the entire thing to play over, but every now and then while I’m editing a mistake, it will send me all the way to the start of the video so I have to scroll back to where I was. Really annoying. I’m editing some this app right now and Captions placed the word “know” on there twice one with a period like so: “know know.” I only need one know and I don’t need a period, but everytime I delete one of them, the other has a period. When I delete the period, it shows up on the other know. When I delete both words, and hit done, THEY BOTH MAGICALLY APPEAR AGAIN. Extremely annoying.
EDIT: I’m just... redoing my review now. Captions does not work for me. I’ve SEEN that it works for others, but for me it didn’t. I’ve had clips where it didn’t pick up my voice at all (and there was NO OPTION to add this app to that clip manually), I’ve had times where it completely switches this app from one clip to another, and I’ve had a clip straight up corrupt and not play (the this app for that clip was still there, but no other remnant of it was. I couldn’t play it, and it simply flickered the first frame of my next clip.) I thought it wasn’t picking up some of my words because I talk fast, which is fine. But the fact that I can’t add this app, even statically to one clip, is beyond me. I can’t rectify this apps errors. I ended up not using the videos I made with Captions because I had so many problems with it. If it picks up your words well, you likely will have no problem with Captions. There were few inaccuracies in the words it DID pick up, it just didn’t pick up most of my words. Frustrated and hopeful that you guys can figure this out, because I love Captions idea and just wish it worked for me. Definitely willing to come back and try again once you think you’ve fixed the problem.
Close, but not Great

Captions would be so useful if it would just let users adjust the positioning of thread this app. It’s the most appealing look, very unique, but most of the time it’s right over the action.
No to mention, you can resize any caption formats or write in words it doesn’t capture. You can edit, but if it doesn’t pick up speech in the first place, there’s no option to add some.
I hope the developers tweak it. Captions could be excellent.
Better before latest update
2022-11-27
by GenXJenny
I have been happily and easily using Captions for auto this app since TikTok doesn’t support it in app yet. However, the latest updates make it more difficult to use. Captions already supported a hands-free option and it worked better before the update. I don’t know why you removed the visual cue timer in the last update. Now, I have no idea how long I have left. Also, Captions arbitrarily stops recording me because it thinks I’ve stopped talking, which aggravates me to no end. And, the extraneous text and instructions on the screen are distracting and get in the way of me visualizing what it is I am trying to record. I think the latest updates were unnecessary and made Captions more difficult to use.
Love the app but needs some changes

I’ve used Captions for a few videos so far and really like it! Expedites time spent adding this app and dealing with the frustration of tik tok, also looks much better!! But I reaaaaallllyyy wish there was a way to add this app, sometimes Captions doesn’t pick up everything and there’s no way to add or fix this app to those sections ! I would also love to be able to change the size and location of this app instead of them being just on the top left. Otherwise love Captions and will continue using but it’s a bit frustrating and could be much much better with those simple changes :)
I really loved this app but it just doesn’t work for me anymore

When I first started creating on TikTok the videos were under a minute so Captions was perfect. Now that TikTok has change to allow longer form 3 minute videos ive had to record videos in parts and caption them in sections and then splice them back together which is a clunky workflow for me with TikTok being my job. If you guy increase the video size to 3 minutes thats be amazing and I’d even be willing to pay a few dollars a month for the feature. If that happens I’ll come back to Captions in a heart beat.
UPDATE 2: After many tests over a couple days using lgbtq+ terms, about 70% of my videos had this app while 30% of my others didn’t. I am not sure what causes the this app to not be generated but will consider it just as a glitch since Captions developers were quick to respond and tested this out on their own.
UPDATE 1: I was contacted by Captions support team to connect with them and their statement of support with the lgbtq+ community. I will be testing the use of the word “sapphic” in more videos throughout the day to make sure I am no longer experiencing the censoring of that word in my video.
ORIGINAL: Censored out the word “sapphic”
Otherwise great app, but makes me wonder what other lgbtq+ terms that made it to the censored list. Recommend someone who isn’t homophobic to double check the flagged list

have always loved Captions and it *is* easier to edit in the new update, but I miss being able to adjust the color shade, and more importantly, the WHOLE POINT of this app is legibility, but when you save a video now they get totally cut off on the right side, rendering Captions useless for my goal of making more accessible content 🙃 plz fix this!
Great overall especially if you have auditory processing issues!!!

I myself have auditory processing issues and so for the longest time couldn't caption my own Tiktoks which made me feel like crap. I want my content to be as accessible as possible and for the longest time couldn't. This however is an amazing app and I couldn't recommend it more. I did a video using it and asked some of my friends to review it to make sure the this app weren't going too fast and the general consensus was this is a good app! While it does lag a little it follows your words really good. This surprised me honestly because I do talk a little fast but it picked up pretty well. Also its almost 100% accurate! I only had to correct a couple of words. Editing this app is a bit of a pain if I'm honest because it gets a little slow and laggy when typing but overall pretty good. If I could recommend any changes its less lag when fixing this app and maybe a way to make sure the words match up 100% when speaking. Otherwise I love Captions and I've already begun to recommend it to everyone I know!
Works great, except 1 thing

I was so ready to post my video since Captions makes captioning so easy and more engaging than traditional line this app, however when saving the video it makes the saturation intensify, and then when posting the video (to TikTok in this case) the saturation is even more intense, most notably around orange/yellow/red tones. Until that gets fixed, I can’t really caption videos using Captions.
Almost an EXCELLENT app

First of all Captions is VERY good if it would work properly and had a couple extra features.
My main problem lies in the fact that it doesn’t support the new video format on iPhones so after all the this app are done it saves the video and suddenly the entire video turns orange.
My second problem is sometimes it doesn’t detect the audio for some reason and I haven’t been able to find a way around this. Even if I take another audio from a video that worked and then put it together it still won’t work.
My last issue/feature I wish they had is you can’t place the this app in a particular spot. I LOVE how the automatically make some words big and small (would love to have more control over this in the future) but you can’t move the batch of words around. So they all end up in the top left corner and if I happen to film a video where my face is mostly in the top left corner, then all the this app cover my face.
With that said, when it works smoothly, the CC on Captions looks FANTASTIC. It’s easy to go back and edit words that it picked up incorrectly, but it gets about 90% of the words correct which is amazing. It pauses when you pause, and is aesthetically very pleasing as you can also change the color of the font.
Captions is my favorite of the ones I’ve tried to use. I wish there was an option to upload slightly higher quality videos & that they could be a bit longer. For insta & platforms besides TikTok that feature would be really nice to have, because the caption function is so much better than the other apps I’ve tried. But I find myself so often having to go back and re-edit or compress videos. That part is quite annoying.
Great CC App

I love Captions. It has made closed captioning so much easier on my videos and is 95% accurate. I very rarely have to make changes. Mostly capitalization and punctuation. My only complaint, is I wish the caption could be positioned in other places on the video itself.
Great app but I have suggestions!

I love the styles Captions applies to it's captioning better than the others, but more options are still desperately needed! More styles and fonts, easier ability to change timing and size/emphasis of each auto generated word, shadow and background options, etc! My main source of income is generated through tiktok so I use Captions daily, adding just a couple of these features would improve it ten fold!!
Threads, but better.
2023-11-07
by Make The Dam Wifi
It's basically a superior version of threads in every way- ability to adjust words if it mistranslates, able to export more than 15 seconds (seriously why does threads do that? It already captioned the whole video), same threads visual style that really boosts engagement and view time by "writing" the words one at a time. (Plus different styles if that's not what you want!). 10/10. A future improvement I'd love to see is the ability to move the caption placements by time (ie set a marker on the time line and be able to move the caption placement at that point forward in case suddenly the this app are in the way of your subject)
Great captions, but stitch is broken

UPDATE: I’ve grown from 8 to 6k followers in the past couple weeks, and I never would have had the patience to caption the quantity of content needed for that growth without Captions. The developer continues to improve it, and it gets less buggy with each update.
First off, Captions is amazing. The this app appear with your words, so you don’t have to worry about manually timing them. Since it’s designed just for the caption feature, it doesn’t have all the “close friends” nonsense of Threads. Also, unlike that one, you can choose your caption style and import videos made in other apps. You can also export directly to whatever app, like TikTok or Insta or whatever, or save to your camera roll.
There are a few bugs. I find sometimes it hangs and only a full tablet restart makes Captions useable again. But the developers have been very responsive to bug reports and I expect this to be resolved as well.
Highly recommended to make your videos both more accessible, and watchable for people with sound off. Much better than Threads for the purpose.
I really can't believe this is free! I used to get so frustrated that it would take me longer to type this app than it would take to record a video for Tiktok, but I want to make sure that everyone can be able to read and hear what I'm saying so Captions deserves all the praise it gets! Highly recommend! ❤️😍

When I first got it everything was working like it should but then the second time I use Captions the this app would not appear. When I pressed edit it said no this app. I am not sure if I pressed something to turn off the this app. Could you please respond and tell me what I should try to turn on the this app. Thanks!
Captions is great! Very easy to use. Makes adding this app fun and straightforward.
