You should be able to receive iMessages with these eSIMs but it doesn’t work and this support would be atrocious if dealing with at home, let alone while traveling abroad. My phone was unusually silent so I switched to my primary card (and paid the roaming fees after paying for this app) and my phone was flooded with messages. I checked the support articles and my settings, and then reached out to this app support on chat (but instead they responded by email a little while later). It’s been three hours now of back and forth (well, minimally since they take an hour to respond and initially just send a stream of support articles before actually trying to solve the issue). And there is no phone number for support. Also, you have to keep their app and chat open, can’t toggle away to other apps, or it takes you “offline.” I guess it doesn’t matter because they don’t actually help you through chat.

I had a less than optimal experience with this eSIM provider. I purchased an eSIM card that didn’t work, forcing me to buy another one because I needed it urgently. When I reached out to customer support, they initially offered a credit to resolve the issue, but then they completely ghosted me and never followed through, and with not having the credit, resulting in me having to purchase a third package out of necessity. Their lack of communication is unacceptable— especially if needing to be connected in a foreign country. The service works when it should work, however, I would not recommend this service to anyone who values reliable customer support and quick resolutions.

While aloSIM experience was good, I wish it you communicated that the phone MUST be unlocked. For those of us still paying off the phone, like me on AT&T in the US, purchased an eSIM for an upcoming trip to Germany but I cannot use it. Your messaging and videos seem to say you can use both your home line and an eSIM together, seemingly allowing you to “just add” another SIM. But that’s not possible (spoke with ATT tech support). I suggest your communication calls out this potential issue. Would have saved me $25 which I wasted.

Started using recently and it is a very simple install and activate process. No issues at all with service but I do wish you could also get a phone number in the country you are traveling in. Not just the US or Canada. Also had one issue where sim did not connect properly with network. Other than that, things have been great.

Bought a USA eSIM to test it out and even that doesn't work!

Update: It actually ended up working fairly well. I was able to activate it in the US and more importantly I was able to use in Turkey.
It didn’t work in Azerbaijan but I think it was not aloSims fault. In some countries after certain number of days if you don’t pay one time gov fee they’ll add your imei into a block list and none of the mobile operators will serve your phone.

Works well. I've used it in a number of countries. And this app has good data practices.

Though in my most recent experience, I was half an hour outside the city and it used a less popular network, which was really spotty. (At least on iPhone not sure I could have manually selected it even if I went into that part of the settings.)

Works well and a cost effective solution for travel. I had to change my phone during my recent trip and thought I would have lost the remaining data. However, while I had to set up a new eSIM card, when I messaged this app they credited me the outstanding balance which I can use for my next travel. Very unexpected in this day of impersonal interactions but very much appreciated.

The tech support team is fast and extremely helpful. I made a few errors setting up my Japan eSIM and the agent kept going back and forth with me until all my questions were answered.

I might also add that most other eSIM companies only offer 4G speed. In many places, this app offers 5G speed which is considerably faster.

this app is an A+ application. Highly recommend!

This is Sim worked great for a whole travel had good coverage everywhere and plenty of gigabytes just don’t leave your personal hotspot on and one of your daughters watch movies all night on the overnight train. She used up three gigs in one night though plenty of coverage and service for using Maps and looking things up normal what you would do on your traveling

Purchased this for a 2 week trip to South America, it would’ve been $140 with my provider at their $10 a day cost. $5 a gig seemed expensive but a friend said it would surprise me how little we used.

He was right. We used 6 gigs the whole time. $30 instead of $140!

Wasn’t perfect as we had some issues installing on my phone, but the support was able to help quickly.

I hate technology. Never seems to work the way it’s supposed to. Used this app services in Thailand last month and it worked smoothly.

In Ireland the next month and it wasn’t so smooth. All kinds of connectivity issues. But their tech support is very responsive and walked me thru all manner of problem solving options. Eventually got everything sorted out.

Will use again for China trip the next month.

Ok - usually I’m pretty hard on app developers and their support teams because I can almost always find something wrong.
this app has set the bar extremely high for all consumer apps/tools. I travel allot, as do my family . We’ve downloaded and used this app for data connectivity and have had fantastic user experience. Installation seamless , works flawlessly. We have used for periods ranging from 1-2 days to multiple months (by topping off a Sim )
Like all tech tools that work across multiple carriers and multiple devices/versions, an occasional issue can crop up. When I’ve asked for support I’ve been contacted immediately, with the support team sticking with us to ensure the issue is solved. Sometimes it has been pilot error , they’ve cheerfully helped us. Once or twice there have been backbone issues in a carrier network, they have solved the issue and/or found a work around almost immediately.
I cannot say enough good things about this tool and company.

I used this for my trip to Aruba. Initially I was planning on using T-Mobile since they are my carrier. After landing, T-Mobile just would not connect to the local network. After getting to the hotel I installed this app and it worked great! Support questions were quickly responded. Highly recommend watching the video to figure out how to use. This is a very cost effective solution for international travel. Will use on my next trip.

aloSIM was already promising when I downloaded it and had support for the Bahamas (Not many other apps had support!) ESIM was automatically activated once connected to a local tower. Speed was FAST! Even when I manually switched to the 3G network. Can we also talk about support? I was there for 2 days, so I bought 2GB, but only ended up using less than 1GB and they gave me a refund since I didn’t use the other 1GB! (My top up) The UI is SO EASY to use. Saved me so much money than having to pay my carrier a ridiculous fee of $2.50 a MEGABYTE, not to mention other people roaming from USA had “LTE” coverage but could barely load anything.

In conclusion, plans are very affordable, speed was very reliable, UI is so easy to navigate, and customer support was very helpful.

I downloaded the esim for mexico. I first had trouble downloading/setting up but customer service was quick and helpful. My second attempt it worked and I am elated. Because of the new esim only iPhone I was going to be forced to get a phone plan in mexico. I can also already tee up to have my next esim ready for my next county while traveling and can avoid cellular stores, save time and avoid language barrier. So excited about aloSIM solving a problem for me!

This was the first time I bought a SIM card in lieu of using my expensive cell carrier international service. It was literally fantastic. I am no genius with technology but I was able to simply download the aLo SIM for Ireland. When I arrived I tapped a few more buttons and I was ready when I landed. Surprisingly it picked up 5G everywhere we travelled on the green isle. Even better service than I have here in the US. Speeds we fast and my connection was flawless. I bought far too much GB with 10 but I didn’t want to be caught short. Will definitely use aLo SIM on my next trip.

I was recommended to use a competitor named Airalo many times. I was turned away by how Airalo asks for photo of my face + a government issued ID. This is much more information than I’m comfortable with giving. Thankfully I stumbled upon this app which allows you to register with Apple ID (anonymous email) and doesn’t ask for any other personal information. Purchasing the eSIM was quick and easy. Installing the eSIM was an automated process and took no more than half a minute. The prices are a few dollars more expensive than Airalo but this is completely worth it to me to preserve privacy. Highly recommended!

Purchased the $10 3GB Western Europe regional SIM for a family trip to Spain and Portugal. The service was almost flawless but for one minor blip. I emailed customer service and got a response within 5 minutes. Prior to my purchase I also interacted with customer service and they were equally prompt and helpful.

The 3 GB was perfect for our 9 day trip and covered us when not on hotel wifi. Also, we did not suffer with the absence of cell service or SMS texting, because Whatsapp (to call most family/friends who use that) and Skype (to call others, or businesses who are not on WhatsApp) fulfilled this need, and both work over this app and over hotel wifi.

Some advice:
1) read the extremely well-written and helpful FAQ short articles on their website.
2)(my only blip) in Settings, Cellular, SIMs, Select this app, Cellular Data Network, be sure that ‘this app ’ (all lowercase) is entered in the APN field for BOTH cellular data AND LTE.
This should happen automatically upon installation but because the technology is new, sometimes this does not occur and so it must be done manually.

Ahead of travelling to the Netherlands for three weeks, I was looking for a SIM that I could activate immediately on arrival. I discovered that my iPhone SE (2nd gen) has the ability to add an eSIM. That was a wow moment. I did a google search and found this app and it had some great reviews. I downloaded aloSIM and used it to buy a data package for the Netherlands a couple of days ahead of leaving on the trip. On landing I found I had data almost immediately. During the visit I was able to easily check how much data I had remaining via aloSIM . I love how it's possible to use aloSIM to buy a data package for dozens of countries. Being retired we travel a lot and previously bought physical Sims (a painful process). From here on this app is going to be our preferred method of keeping connected.

Very easy way to add a data package so you can use all your online services while traveling. Things like Viber or WhatsApp or FaceTime to make data only calls or anything, text messaging and anything else that will use data.

Double check before you buy a country spedicf one if there an eSIM package for the region you are traveling. This is useful if you plan to visit some neighboring countries so you can use the same eSIM in multiple countries.
