It works but not worth the price IMO

My kids lost the remote to my LG TV so I went to TVPlus Store to find the LG iOS remote. This one appeared to be made by LG so I downloaded it for free, then right away was nagged into purchasing it to get rid of ads and unlock the premium features. Once I realized this was not the official LG app I went back and found the real one. It’s the LG Thinq app, which is also used for all of the other LG IOT connected devices. I regret spending money on this TV plus app even if it was on sale. It does very little that the official app doesn’t do and the experience and flow of the LG app is better.
I was sold on the screen mirroring feature that TVPlus claimed to do, but I cannot get it to work for the life of me. I was able to upload some home videos and play them on the TV, but it was extremely difficult and frustrating to even get that to work and could only upload one at a time then go through a drawn out process from the very beginning to get another to load.
The track pad is practically unusable because it’s way too sensitive. A tiny movement makes the cursor fling all the way across the screen. I cannot recommend any purchase TVPlus. Just download the LG Thinq app and it will do basically everything TVPlus does and better

Amazing! Game Changer

I cut the cord about two years ago and have been canceling one service after another as they started adding commercials. This morning I came across this LG TV plus app, I’ve been for about one hour and I absolutely love it. How refreshing to see such reasonably priced app ($20 for life!!) improve so dramatically. It’s a whole new TV watching experience. I hope it continues to be a great service without commercials, but I am happy to pay few dollars to avoid them.
The services I’ve cut are ones that continue to charge me and also show commercials. That is a no go. Nope.
Its great to know that there is a company out there still producing a high quality product at such at a phenomenal price: $20 lifetime membership!
Love!
Thank you!

It alright

It’s convenient to have a remote app on your phone and I don’t mind the $20 subscription but the only thing is you have to turn on your TV before you start using the remote. I don’t know if it’s just my phone or if it is a glitch, but whenever I connect to it and the TV’s off and I press the power button it says “are you sure you want to disconnect?”. I’d also add that when your phone turns off or you go off TVPlus , the controls don’t work and the only thing you can do is control the volume. The input button doesn’t work either, it just takes me to the lg store. I’ve found a work around but I’d rather use the input button than the method I’m already using.

Promising but Ruined by adds and lag

Compared to LG TV Plus app the layout of the controls is improved. Easier to jump back and forth between controls. BUT - clicks on features quickly brings up adds to buy premium which gets annoying very quickly.
The cursor control suffers so much lag it makes it unusable (as you get the cursor close to the target it flies past over and over as you try to correct).
Further - ideally the menus one is flipping through would be on your phone because as your attention switches to TV screen you don’t see the boundaries of the track section on your phone so your finger frequently goes outside the area and up comes adds to buy premium. Arghh! So annoying.
Get the “LG TV Plus” app instead.

I would give this 0 stars if I could

TLDR: don’t waste your time with TVPlus or LG they are both trash. Just another huge company trying to nickel and dime customers after they have already purchased their product. Not only did I pay a lot of money for a nice LG TV the remote that came with it is trash, so I decided to try and download TVPlus expecting it to work like the normal remote. Instead TVPlus has a touch pad that is terrible and hard to use. And to put a cherry on top you have to pay $20, that’s right TWENTY DOLLARS, to be able to turn the volume up on your TV using TVPlus . Or God forbid you don’t want to use the terrible touch pad “technology” LG so graciously gave us and would rather use arrows, too bad you have to pay premium for that too.

Really?

I’ve had TVPlus since I bought my tv. It’s annoying because it doesn’t always want to connect even though my tv and phone are on the same network. After the last time it didn’t connect, I decided to delete TVPlus and download again. (I just needed to turn my tv off and back on). Wish I’d known, because now I can’t use TVPlus without being charged? Get the crap would I want to do that when I should be able to use it for free as I was as other tv apps do and after already paying for the tv? So far I’ve liked my tv and was thinking of getting a bigger one to replace another one. I don’t appreciate anyone or trying to get over on someone though or ripping them off.

Not LG. Will not even adjust audio unless you pay.

Like most who find TVPlus, I was looking for an app to replace a lost remote. TVPlus plays itself off as an official LG product, but isn’t. (PS the real LG app is free and work fines)
I found this out after I had already downloaded it, but figured as long as it did what I needed it to do I would give it a try.

It literally would not even adjust the volume of the TV. If you press any remote button it will just take you to the page to purchase the “premium” version. Some apps you just have to pay for, no big deal. But if you literally don’t offer a single feature for free than you don’t get to pass yourself off as freemiumware.

They trap you so you have to buy or exit before you can even try the basic functions - don’t bother

They trap you so you have to buy or exit before you can even try the basic functions - don’t bother. If you aren’t willing to buy it in trust. Don’t expect to be able to check out even the basic functions. You get in and start using it. After just a couple clicks. Every click brings up the sign up screen and you can go no further . If it’s a time trigger then figure on less than a minute. Just on principle for these tactics I’m not signing up. Because odds are they’ll pull tricks when you try to cancel so it’s difficult to stop any payments.

Bought the lifetime app, disconnects with our LG every few minutes

Fails to recognize our LG OLED every few minutes and we have to completely reboot TVPlus to make it work again. App displays as still connected to the TV, but none of the icons work. The problem might be because I have ApplePay activated on my iPhone, so it locks after about 15 seconds of non-use (and needs Face ID or my passcode to unlock). I can’t be the only security-conscious ApplePay iPhone user. All my other apps stay on and ready when my phone security activates, and when I unlock the phone i just pick up where I left off.

What good is a TV remote app that you have to reboot EVERY TIME you want to use it?

I’m over it.

TVPlus used to be free . I’ve used the tv app over the last 3 years with no issues. After the update, it was suddenly $24. After having no luck with other tv remote apps , I finally gave into trying the free trial. I finally had the tv app that ran so smoothly again. Part of me wanted to just pay the $24 just to have the simplicity of using TVPlus again. After maybe 30 minutes of using it , it stopped working.. it won’t connect to it again. I keep retrying it over n over. No luck. I’m back to using another app that only works sometimes (but still connects to the tv at least) . Glad I didn’t end up paying.

Not Practical Without Subscription

You basically have to pay to use the remote overall. It comes with a default swipe feature that is free in TVPlus , thought it lags insanely on the television screen and is quite difficult to control. There is then the traditional arrows that you tap to control the television, but you can literally only use it like... four times and then you have to pay. I just went ahead and deleted TVPlus in the matter of 3 minutes 😅 I would probably give a better rating though if I was willing to pay for a whole subscription.

Great app if you actually buy it

This is a great app to operate your LG TV just like the original remote (which my kids are always losing) and the added photo/video/music mirroring functions are really outstanding. Don’t believe all the stupid reviews from people who think everything should be free. What country are they living in? If you’re willing to pay for it, and it is $20, it’s a really great app.

By

??? Idk what this is

TVPlus seems simple. Now my tv doesn’t have a button to turn on the tv. It NEEDS a remote to turn it on.

And for TVPlus to work, the tv needs to be on already. And for connection to be lost when you leave TVPlus needs to be reconsidered. To reconnect it over and over again is a bore

And I want to watch stuff from my browser and thought I could screen share it from my phone. However it seemed to be only through TVPlus’s browser.

Now I’m on this AirPlay screen on my tv and well, I don’t even know what, but it’s not sharing content from my phone. It’s not even doing anything!

Both tv and phone are on the same WiFi, so I don’t know what else.

Simply put, I want my $20 bucks back. If you could be so kind to return them to me, I’d be greatly appreciated. Probably not going to use TVPlus ever again…

Does not work as advertised.

I downloaded TVPlus due to my children breaking the remote for the television and was a little disappointed that I had to make a commitment before I could even try it out. TVPlus would not connect to the television, when it finally did it would not control 90% of the things that I needed it to or access the menu on the television. Paid the $20 for the lifetime subscription, and have recently requested a refund. I will update this review after I receive a response back from the developer, if I get a response back from the developer.

By

Not for me

I was debating on buying the subscription so that I can cast videos from my phone and play music. However, the free version had this annoying pop up every time I would try to use a directional pad that the other remote app didn’t have for the free version, which makes me feel like there is more interest in money than a working app that is helpful. I’m going to go back to the other app and support the development since they don’t pay block a basic use of the remote.

Accidental purchase, but…

I don’t normally write reviews, but I wanted to mention this. My daughter accidentally ordered TVPlus. I contacted the maker hoping I could get a refund. To my surprise, my purchase was refunded promptly. With that, I can vouch for the maker being a reputable group. I have had this happen before on other apps and was denied a refund. Thank you.

Do NOT Get This App!!!

Compared to the last LGTV app this one is a sell out for money. The last one was completely free. And this one you can’t even change the volume without an add or you have to pay for a membership. Already spent $300 on a TV. I don’t want to spend another $25 for an app that is useless.
My recommendation is if you lose a remote. Do NOT get this. Get a universal remote. Their so much cheaper.
I hope this company is happy with all of the money they make from adds and making TVPlus useless because of it.

By

Either you pay or it’s useless

At first, I was simply dismayed with TVPlus . Ads pop up fairly frequently, including some with timers that force you to wait. Eventually I noticed you can change the trackpad (which doesn’t work properly and is essentially useless) to the normal arrow buttons, but only if you pay a monthly subscription. Then I could no longer use any of the controls without paying for the subscription.

By

doesn’t work

i only got TVPlus because i lost my remote and it’s a joke. it takes me 10 minutes trying to use the cursor to put on a show and i can already tell the technology is trash so i’m not going to shell out $20 for something that doesn’t even work as advertised after already buying the physical LG products themselves. it’s just absurd to try to charge customers who have already bought your products $20 for something that doesn’t even work ugh so annoying

By

DON’T BUY!!!

I bought a “lifetime” version of TVPlus for $20 and now I can’t even use it without upgrading to a $30/yr subscription, which I refuse to do. Every button on the remote I click on keeps taking me to the page for the subscription. Total waste of money.

By

Terrible

Don’t waste your time with this, you really don’t control your TV from your phone very well, if you have an iPhone good luck trying to cast from your iPhone to an LG TV especially with TVPlus. It’s good at changing the volume and that’s about it
