Melaninterest Reviews

To be honest it is a great idea and it is good but it is just on like the original Pinterest. It is way harder to get around on Melaninterest . When I was trying it out I saw some things I had like but I couldn’t save the images like the other Pinterest. And the back button would be frozen and I would have to exit the whole app to go back to the page I was looking at. And I would rather go back to writing “on black girl” cause it is just easier.😁

Melaninterest is nice and easy to use, but there are some issues that need to be fixed. I’ve been trying to edit my profile but it won’t let me do anything. I tried to add a profile and cover picture with no success. Tried different sizes, tried the size they suggested and still nothing. Basically I can’t do anything to edit the profile section. And the last thing is about ads. It’s nice and all that Melaninterest is free and therefore ads are needed, but this is just on another level. I barely have the time to click on something that there’s an ad popping up and as if it wasn’t enough as soon as the ad ends there are one or two others immediately popping up again within seconds.
I don’t mind the ads but the fact that they pop up every second just makes Melaninterest unusable and that’s really unfortunate.

Incredibly irritating, which is super disappointing considering how much hope I had in Melaninterest. If y’all are in need of money you’re gonna have to find a different way soon, because I can’t imagine Melaninterest being successful in the long term with pop-up ads, on top of the execution issues that were already present. I was willing to live with some of the glitches for the time being just because of how rewarding the imagery on Melaninterest was for me, and because I understand that a project on this scale must be difficult to manage. I loved the concept of Melaninterest and the content I was seeing on it, but I just can’t use an app with those ugly and annoying pop-up ads.

I’ll check in again at some other time to see if anything changes and I’ll amend my review in that case, and if it doesn’t change I’ll just have to let Melaninterest go.

Love the idea of an app where I don’t have to type “black girl” after every search! However, Melaninterest needs a few tweaks before it could replace Pinterest in my phone. Mainly, Melaninterest need to be optimized for larger phones (iPhone 10 and up), it feels like I’m squinting to see the content. It would also be nice if the ads were integrated into Melaninterest a little more seamlessly, as opposed to popping up in the middle of the screen or a banner that covers the menu options. Lastly, more searchable content would make me want to stay on Melaninterest longer. If these things were fixed, Melaninterest would feel higher quality; I’d definitely use it as my main search engine!

I rarely post reviews but I support Melaninterest for us. Melaninterest has so much potential, but the ads are just ridiculous. Please take notes from Pinterest and put the ads within the posts. Cause them pop up ads ain’t the move at all. It’s annoying to the point I just deleted Melaninterest . I will check back in a few months to see if there has been any changes or updates. Until then take the time to fix the bugs and glitches so it can be more easily navigated and user friendly. I hope the developers are really taking feedback into account to make Melaninterest be successful. We need Melaninterest.

I’ll say this: I love Melaninterest and the concept. I’ve seen tiger reviews about how laggy it is and I haven’t experienced it since downloading. However I do think that you should give it more publicity. There’s not a lot of people on there and so I do think that once more people do switch over it would be even better! Other than that I feel like Melaninterest is great!!!

I’m happy to see a platform just for us. I would like it to feel a bit more organized the amount of ad pop ups is a bit irritating. I would like to see it progress in a more cleaner layout for the iOS version. Other than that and a few bug fixes. Melaninterest could go very far and I very much would like to see it

I love Melaninterest wish more knew about it but I will be creating and adding a lot of content to this for people who enjoy to make it our own and be very saturated with amazing things. I hope Melaninterest does get updated as it seems to be a bit out of style compared to Pinterest I hope we can get our own style and less old app feeling overall love

Melaninterest is great for our culture I excited to see the great ideas that’s available, but I just downloaded Melaninterest a couple days ago and every time I go to Melaninterest it has a big loading box right in The center of the page. which is disappointing I don’t know if it’s a glitch because Melaninterest still allows me to go to different pages and look around at other boards. I will try to uninstall again but if that does not help I will stay uninstall and wait for an update.

Melaninterest has been incredible and deserves more hype because it’s honestly so good for black people, it’s finally an app that shows a lot of BLACK PEOPLE without white people. Finally an app that where you search up hairstyles it actually shows black people and not only white people. Thank you to the creators who made Melaninterest, you guys really did a great thing which I thank you for.💕

I find it extremely cool to see an app made for black people and how we can expand our creativity without having to search up things with the word black people needed to be included . However , Melaninterest still needs more room for improvement the settings are a little weird and hard to a manage . When I entered Melaninterest it was slow and I saw too many ads pop up . Although, those things did occur I do hope that they will be new updates soon

There’s so many glitches and bugs that’s need to be fixed. I love that this is for us but I wish it would’ve been more organized before the roll out. I’m happy to support; but I think it’s going to discourage a lot of people from choosing this over Pinterest. I search things and nothing pops up which makes me believe the search bar doesn’t work. I just wish it were better. This needs to be tended to ASAP.

The idea is wonder; I often find myself on Pinterest having to type African American before anything like “African American wedding hairstyles.” An app like this is ideal and so needed! However...she needs some serious work. Melaninterest interface is out dated and there are adds in places that aren’t aesthetically pleasing, like the actual Pinterest app. Also just need more images, and quality images at that. I hope to Melaninterest live up to its full potential.

Thanks for making something for US. I do find myself typing for black gurl behind things and it feels nice to not have to do that. To see such a celebration of black woman and all that we are is truly amazing. My new favorite app for sure. Thank you so much for creating this. I am seeing so much greatness and style I can’t wait to take tips from. This is the best.

I love the concept of it and i wanted to try it because I have a Pinterest. I think this is a great opportunity to reach out and get myself known within the melanin community. However, if I can’t update my profile, i can’t let them know who I am and what I do. Hopefully this will get fixed or I will have to continue with Pinterest

I’m thrilled that there is an app just for us so let me start by saying that. However a lot of the “pins” repeat so much that there’s just not much to find. However I am here for this and will be using Melaninterest regardless. I am sure that over time, the more people that use it and the more bugs that get worked out, the better it will be.

It’s good but definitely needs work. Needs to be more organized and put together better. Like in the settings, when adding a picture for your profile. It acts weird. They should probably set it up like Instagram setting input or similar. Can’t add my videos either.

Yea I was definitely excited to see that people of color or coming into spotlight especially because we are able to have a black version of Pinterest however it runs slow it keeps prompting me to to sign and over and over again to like something and it does have a lot of pop-ups for ads so I will give it 3 right now . So excited to see how they will improve!

Melaninterest is confusing and hard to use. I love seeing all of the black owned businesses being supported and the beautiful makeup being displayed BUT I just find Melaninterest a little disorganized. And it feels like it would do better on a computer than an app on your phone.

I’m in love!!!!! Melaninterest caters to me, it has everything in looking for, it’s given me new ideas. Since Melaninterest has become available for iPhone it’s had me all In my phone. Every time I look something up it shows just what I’ve been looking for plus it’s easy to navigate and understand
