No activity

The concept of baklava is great, but there are several flaws that need to be fixed. One, there should be a filter for religions. I’m not picky but some people are super picky when it comes to the other persons religion. Wish we could tolerate that but what can you do?
Next, the people on baklava are super far away from you, which doesn’t make sense. I’d think anyone who is dating would rather prefer to chat and meet someone that is local or at least no more than an hour away from them.
Finally, it seems like there are many inactive and fake profiles. baklava needs to find a way to rid of these inactive accounts and fake profiles. I’ve had a hard time chatting or matching with anyone on baklava. I have a higher chance of matching on Bumble and Hinge, than on here.

Good but

Good, but filled with TONS of non-arabs. As someone who has finally found an arab space… it’s disappointing to see it invaded by countless non-arabs fetishizing arab women. I’m reporting them because it’s annoying LOL

By

Not bad

I like baklava but i wish there was a way to filter your search by religion. All arabs know how hard it is to mix religions when it comes to relationships lol. Furthermore, i was a little disappointed that there was no option to select “Druze” as a religion which is kind of expected from a arab dating app. Also even after the update, baklava still crashes for me and i keep getting the same likes popping up even after clearing them.

Simply amazing

Finally a way to network with locals with similar backgrounds! Beyond happy with how simple baklava is to use and the amount of people I’ve been meeting. Can’t wait to find future wifey 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Needs a better way to filter by distance.

Nice app that’s specific to Arabs looking for a relationship but the apps needs a better way to filter for distance. It’s not very clear where the profile users are located and many are looking for matches nearby

By

Great app!

I really love baklava . I just really wished that there was an option in the search part about the religion, something will really help! but other than this great app 😊😊

Good concept but plagued by issues

I’m super into this concept and it’s a huge strive for the community but there is lots of work to be done on baklava

-It crashes from time to time
-The interface is clunky and it’s not a super smooth process to like/skip a profile (such as on tinder or bumble)
-There should be distinct groups for dating, marriage, and relationships but it looks like profiles are all mixed up and it’s up to the user to see in the persons profile what they’re looking for
-glitches with profile pictures of people you’re messaging
-glitches in keyboard for messaging (send button disappears)

Tried and but didn’t work

It’s a working app but never found any luck with it. Some fake profiles on there but it’s whatever. Tried the paid subscription as well and still no luck

By

Unmatching issue

I feel like there’s a glitch with the matching. The past three people I’ve matched with aren’t showing up anymore, and it was after I got a different social media like their snap or insta. Not sure what’s going on

Works fine

Honestly, it's a good app for arabs. Plenty of people, just put up good photos and you'll be fine

By

Used them all

Substantially better than muzmatch or minder. Exclusively arabs which is what is needed. keep it up

By

Yes!

Love it. Nice interface. Plenty of active people on it. Significantly better than the other Muslim apps I’ve used

By

Pretty good!

So much better than minder or muzmatch. Everyone is Arab which is a huge plus! Keep it up guys

By

Fake profiles

90% fake profiles

To the Dev reply: As a dev I can tell that is not true. If anything, you are using fake profiles as a marketing strategy to creat the illusion of users on your app. You can easily implement verification methods but I have a feeling you know where these fake profiles are coming from.

By

Has Potential

This has been a missing app for the Arab community. No offense to minder and muzmatch but Arabs needed their own app regardless of religion

By

Distance

What’s the point of the location being enabled if we can’t see how far this person is from us? Please fix!

By

The boost feature ruined the app

As the title says, you cannot even see who liked your photos anymore, time to move to another app.

By

I love it

Great app, but I want my 50 LIKES FOR INVITING PEOPLE!!!

By

Doesn’t work - no one is real on there

Fake profiles, my app keeps loading and never actually opens. They also don’t let you filter by distance so it was nice that I got one match in A different country??

By

This app seems cool but...

Please add an option to choose more than one flag when choosing one’s Arab Background. Some of us are mixed and don’t come from just one country. Thank you!

hmmm

It’s like Instagram but you can like and reject people for dating & marriage . Honestly I don’t know if anyone is really finding anyone on here because they’re all career oriented men & women Arabs who I guess think are too cool to get married or something 🤣🤡because NO ONE has commented they found each other on here and are married 🤧😮😬😲🙄🤥🤫🤗🤔🤭👹 & are not many people making profiles . The people on baklava are just dumb for making a profile on here because they know marriage is like living with a friend. Also the Arabs here were born and living in America mostly so they’re the type that’s educated smart and working like a surgeon or engineer so my point is you won’t find a husband on here no doubt stick to other methods of matchmaking IF ANYONE REALLY WANTED A WIFE THEY COULD FIND SOMEONE ON INSTAGRAM

By

Limited access even if you pay

Even i am subscribed i still have limited likes, like seriously? Then why im paying $10 a month for? Fix this nonsense issue

By

Antiquated and Non-Inclusive

Such a shame that it’s 2021 and baklava is limited to cisgendered heterosexual couples. The developers are missing out on a huge opportunity to connect with a significant portion of Western Arabs that is often neglected.

By

question

how can u delete ur profile? cool idea, not for me. it’s not letting me delete my account and i can’t message support through baklava .

Why why whyy?!?!?!

Why did you make a boost 😫😫

Oof, where do I start. This app calls itself Baklava... a common transliterated spelling of the dessert from several middle eastern languages *except* Arabic, most dialects of which do not contain the letter V. So if you're a Persian, Greek, Kurd or Turk, you might expect this app is for you. Then you find not only is it Arab-normative in super silly, cheesy ways, it's Levantine-normative. The "Besties" function suggests you and your new friends "order shawarma extra toum" or "learn to dance the Dabke." Not even all *Arabs* call garlic toum, or know what Dabke is (try asking a Moroccan). It lets you choose Buddhist as a religion option... But not Jewish. Arab Jews have to call themselves "other". And of course it isn't friendly to LGBT Middle Easterners. I'm keeping it because there are few other secular apps specifically to connect people from the MENA region. But I would really love to see it become more inclusive of the whole MENA region and not make minorities and other baklava-eating cultures feel excluded. This would be less ironic if it was called b3alawa.
