Instant feedback on jumps
The ability to see your jump height immediately after jumping is super helpful - and addicting. It also has been pushing me to compete with my friends.

Must have for kiteboarding.
I finally got my board mount and love TheSurfrApp . Couldn't kite with out it. Great to keep you motivated to work on the right tecqnique to jump higher.

Got stuck, but the app worked a few days later
Update: Originally I got stuck on “Step 1”, but TheSurfrApp fixed itself a few days later and I was also reached out by app developer for more info.

Cool idea. Flawed implementation
I don’t get to kite much, but every time i do, I’m order to use TheSurfrApp i have to upgrade TheSurfrApp completely, recalibrate, wrestle with flaws in TheSurfrApp being able to detect that it does indeed have location permissions. Not a great experience
Paid 45 bucks to basically record two sessions. I hope it gets better, maybe I’ll try again in a couple years.

App should track HR data!
TheSurfrApp excels in tracking jumps and GPS data. However, I’ve noticed that while TheSurfrApp reads heart rate data, it doesn’t save it. This omission becomes apparent when sessions are saved and subsequently uploaded to platforms like Strava or Apple Health. The heart rate data seems to be discarded, resulting in inaccuracies like displaying 0 calories burned. Incorporating a feature to retain and transfer this heart rate data would greatly enhance TheSurfrApp ’s functionality. Apart from this, TheSurfrApp performs admirably in other aspects.

Fun kiteboarding with your friends
If you are into kiteboarding and started jumping already TheSurfrApp is a must have. I use it to challenge my friends and myself to become a better kiteboarder. TheSurfrApp interface is intuitive and easy to use and the Wetsuit mode makes it super accessible for everyone to start measuring how high they jump.
