App works, but the developer has implemented an absolutely obnoxious countdown timer that keeps increasing exponentially begging for a “donation”that you have to have WeChat or Twitter to send to dodge Apple’s 30% cut. (Hey Dev, I’m not on Twitter or WeChat, and I’m not going to just to buy you a beer so AmiiBoss works like it’s supposed to.) Almost feel like reporting AmiiBoss for this bull. Charge for AmiiBoss or don’t, I don’t care HOW good it works. Going to find another app, save your time and money.

Update to developer response; No, AmiiBoss “working as expected” doesn’t include it becoming unusable after two or three times because you want to extort customers. The increasing timer isn’t mentioned in AmiiBoss description, and making people pay you outside Apple’s ecosystem to use AmiiBoss we downloaded is abhorrent. Either make it an in-app purchase or keep the timer from growing to 148 minutes after your fourth use. I’m using another app now that works great and didn’t play games with users.

I’ve had AmiiBoss for several months, and at first it was great for writing amiibos because there was only a short wait time between writing amiibos with a pop up/ad. Now, the wait time has gotten ridiculous. It increases with each amiibo you write from 30 seconds to 2 minutes to 10 minutes to 45 minutes to 24 HOURS to I don’t even know what beyond that. and you have to keep AmiiBoss open the entire time or the timer doesn’t go down. Of course there’s the “option” to donate to get rid of this pop up and have no wait time, but it’s not an in app purchase. You have to message the developer personally on twitter or wechat, neither of which I have, to donate to get the pop up to go away. It seems very counterintuitive to make someone go through all this to give the dev their money or else they have to wait a ridiculously long time. I would be much more inclined to donate if it was an in app purchase. So unless you only have like 2 or 3 amiibos to write, find a different nfc writer app because this one is not easy to use.

AmiiBoss isn’t really free anymore, unless you’re okay waiting hours just to write one NFC card. The creator is literally forcing donations on its consumers with the pathetic pop up message: “If you would like to support ‘ AmiiBoss’ and buy me a beer, contact: ‘through twitter’”. Just have us make in-app purchases, not third party ones! That’s not even the worse part, now the timer increases every time you click on something - which by the way wasn’t like that before!

AmiiBoss worked amazing a few months ago. I don’t mind the 5 second timer after clicking on stuff because AmiiBoss is free to use. The problem now is that it’ll just keep increasing, forcing the consumers to have to contact and pay the creator in order to use AmiiBoss with no pop ups, and access special features. Why change it? Now you’re just making your consumers run away. You don’t deserve a beer for this.

AmiiBoss works amazingly, or at least it used to. I understand wanting to get paid for your work, and believe me, I really want to pay you. But this asinine pop up system is insulting. I am not going to private message a stranger using apps i have never used just to figure out how i can pay you directly. And please stop thinking that making a cheeky joke about buying you a beer makes this any more tolerable. Please just charge us for AmiiBoss !!!!!!! I understand you don't want Apple getting their cut, but please just charge a price that takes it into consideration. Whatever we have to pay will be worth it. The worst part about this garbage is that after i waited 600 seconds for the privilege of being allowed to write one, it failed and ruined the nfc card. This has happened before using AmiiBoss, but having to now suffer through 10 minutes of constantly touching the screen to keep it awake just so I could waste a card was absolutely infuriating. Plus, the fact that the wait time gets longer every time you use it only makes it worse. Please remove AmiiBoss from the store or start charging!!! Stop pretending AmiiBoss is free!! At this point I am ashamed i ever recommended AmiiBoss to anybody.

Love the functionality but the creator is now asking you to message him to donate. If you don’t there’s a pop up that lasts longer each time. So I’ve written 5 amiibos and I now have to wait 15 minutes with AmiiBoss open to write the next one, with my phone screen not locking, and not navigating away from AmiiBoss . And after this one it will probably be upwards of 30 minutes.

So really it’s more like a free trial than a free app. That’s fine, except there’s no way in AmiiBoss or on AmiiBoss Store to unlock the paid version. You have to have a Twitter account or WeChat account to send a private message to the creator and offer a donation in order to get rid of the pop up. Since I don’t have either, and it’s sketch to ask people to donate that way, I’ll be trying placiibo and if I can get that to work, then I’ll delete this. Bummer.

Starting off, this is a good app for making amiibos! Works perfectly! Once you know the process you can easily do it. BUT. When you first start it gives you a two second timer and asks for a donation on a tab. Then, after that, every time you write a new character’s “profile page”, it increases!😒It went to 1 min, 6 min, 10 minutes etc….guess what was next? 40 MINUTES!! 😳That’s a HUGE time to that it takes and it’s very disappointing. And guess what was after that? 23 HOURS. I get that the developer wants a donation but that’s WAYY to outrageous. And to keep your phone on the entire time??? Not worth it. 🙄 If the developer really wanted to make money from AmiiBoss it should have in app purchases, (I’d consider buying a one time purchase for no donation ads) but otherwise it downright makes me mad. Developer, would you want to wait that long? Would you really? Please understand what I mean. If you only have maybe 5 ish amiibo you want to write, then this is your app! But come on. Anything longer than 10 minutes is too much. And also the fact it’s displayed in seconds????? Hope this helps you get an idea of AmiiBoss . 😕

First of all, thank you for providing us with AmiiBoss. It works great. I used it a couple of months ago and everything was fine. Didn’t mind the 5 second wait. I get that it’s a “free” version, but if you really wanna push ppl into “supporting” you then why make me feel pressured into doing so. I just got into animal crossing again and bruhhhhhh the timer gets longer and longer each time you do anything in AmiiBoss ??? Why would I waste my time using AmiiBoss then? I might as well find another way into doing this rather than having to download “wechat” or “Twitter” and making a whole account just to be able to contact someone. I don’t want to “chat” with some random person or doing all of those extra steps just to get in “contact” with whoever runs the account. Let me buy you a beer with a flat in-app purchase fee period.

To the developer: Thank you for making AmiiBoss . I understand you want to make money and it might cost to run AmiiBoss , but can you please lower the wait times? Or make it a one-time in-app purchase? 🙂 I would’ve happily donated for a reasonable price (at least something under or around $5) as an one-time payment. It’d be awesome if full-access could be restored (through the Apple ID), if I have to delete AmiiBoss or get a new phone. 😌
Main review: I really like AmiiBoss . It works, but I dislike how after writing a few tags or swiping up to read an (already written) amiibo description the wait time drastically increased to 10 mins. And as you write more, the longer the time gets. I don’t mind the pop-ups asking to contact the developer to donate, just the long wait times. 🙃 WARNING: if you have to close AmiiBoss or anything happens, the timer will restart. 🙂

I’ve been looking into making amiibos of my own because I didn’t want to spend NMTs looking for my favorite animal crossing villagers! I just want to say that AmiiBoss is definitely user friendly ONCE you’ve uploaded the necessary amiibo files. I first saw this app on Twitter and a mutual said that they would be willing to help me figure AmiiBoss out - screenshots and their explanation definitely helped. I’ve been writing my own amiibos since - saved me a TON of money. I took off one star because I thought the website instructions weren’t that easy to understand? Maybe screenshots would help, just like how it helped me. I did reach out to the developer’s twitter for any questions and they responded pretty fast, which I was pleasantly surprised about!!! So if you have any questions, reach out to them and ask them, don’t struggle on your own to figure it out.

Downloaded AmiiBoss and it was awesome for the first 2 amiibos I created… now I’m trying to write my 7th amiibo and the wait time is 8000 seconds, that is over two hours!!!! I created a Twitter account just to send a message to the developer saying that I will buy him a beer, and now I’m waiting on a message back and the countdown timer in AmiiBoss ! Not very happy with this and if I don’t get a return message soon, I’ll download a different app. Why not just create an in app purchase to remove the popups?????

Above was my original review which I gave only 1 star but I have since changed it. Once you send the developer a donation, AmiiBoss is worth it! If you don’t plan on spending any money though, this is not AmiiBoss for you.

I love the way AmiiBoss works, and even went through the process of activating AmiiBoss by contacting the developer and sending a “tip” to remove the time limits, which keep growing and growing.

As other folks have mentioned, the system for paying for AmiiBoss is super convoluted.

1) Maybe make AmiiBoss cost $9.99? The problem with this is, people can’t easily test/try before they buy.

2) Leave AmiiBoss the way it is, but add two or three tiers of In-App Purchase, maybe $10, $20 and $30. They all do the same thing (unlock the exponentially growing timer between writes), but people can pay more if they can afford to support more.

Messaging the developer on Twitter, exchanging information, then paying through PayPal is great IF you have Twitter (I don’t…had to phone-a-friend) and also have PayPal (not everyone does). The one thing everyone with an iPhone has is AmiiBoss Store, and the ability to buy apps (option 1) or pay for IAP (option 2).

Would love to see AmiiBoss redesigned to fit one or both of these models.

Hands down one of the best apps for amiibos out there. It is very fluent and can even allow you to scan a already created tag and gives you information as to what character is on it and even gives you facts about them! Been using AmiiBoss even before it was brought to AmiiBoss Store. I have never had a issue creating tags! Super easy to navigate and very simple and straight forward I would recommend AmiiBoss to anyone interested in using it. The creators are always on bugs and glitches and they don’t take long at all to bring a fix to keep AmiiBoss running!

I’ve been patiently waiting for a developer to create the iPhone equivalent to Android’s TagMo app. And honestly, this app completely blows TagMo away!! The interface is so smooth, responsive, and very very user-friendly. This developer is amazing and he truly was so helpful!! He replied within minutes to my message about requesting a UserKey - MINUTES. It’s very clear to see how much time and hard work the developer has put into creating such a seamless app experience. In my opinion, I definitely recommend making a donation to the developer because clearly he deserves it for sure!

I was desperate to find a way to make amiibos on iOS after animal crossing came out and the cards were insanely expensive to purchase. After browsing Reddit I discovered the developer giving out beta codes for this in test flight. It took me a few tries to figure it out, but when I did I knew AmiiBoss was and needed to go big. I’m glad to see the polished masterpiece had finally made it to the AppStore for all to enjoy and use. I implore anyone to use AmiiBoss and if you can’t quite figure out how to use it, just contact support and they will walk you through it. DOWNLOAD NOW!

I never write reviews but this one deserves one. AmiiBoss was easier to figure out than others. I was able to write the amiibos I wanted fast and easily! I can invite some cute amiibos to my island n! I have a iPhone X and I didn’t have any trouble writing or identifying the amiibos. I was actually able to write over a failed one that I tried on Placiibo (I think by luck?). My switch wasn’t able to identify that it was an amiibo after using Placiibo to write on my card. I kept getting error messages. I’m so glad AmiiBoss is out there because I am able to get all my favorite amiibos to visit.

Title says it all. This is the best app out there to make amiibo cards. It’s so easy to use and works like a charm. I have an iPhone 11 and haven’t had any issues using AmiiBoss. I’ve been able to make cards for friends who are looking for certain villagers in ACNH. It works with so many games too, not just Animal Crossing.
The developer is so very helpful in every way. I was confused on how to use when I was using it in early TestFlight stages and he’s answered all my questions. Very responsive and willing to help. Thank you for such an amazing app and I would highly recommend AmiiBoss to anyone who wants to make their own cards!

I just got AmiiBoss today after discovering how to make my own amiibos and it’s so awesome! I saw that some reviews complained about getting AmiiBoss started but it’s honestly very simple. I reached out to the dev on Twitter and they responded very fast and were very helpful with getting me all set up to use AmiiBoss . On that note, AmiiBoss itself is very easy to use and has a huge database of amiibos from various series to choose from.
I also noticed complaints about donations. The dev does NOT ask for money. Making a donation is your own choice. I personally donated because AmiiBoss works and I like to support the creator for their hard work.
Definitely recommending this to all my Animal Crossing friends!

The competition could only dream of what this app has to offer. No silly tokens per scan, no struggle to import .bin files, no errors (unless I move my hand away too fast but that’s just user error and impatience). By far the cleanest UI, the easiest to use, zero issues and the dev has an excellent response time and is super friendly and will walk you through any step you need. Watch out for those trying to be what Aussie has to offer, I even accidentally left this review on a clone and scrambled to delete it so they know my loyalty lies with this app. My ntags are basically jumping out of the box at me to be used. Props to Aussie for knowing what the people want and how to deliver not only a great app, but great service as well.🍻

So, I was skeptical at first. I didn’t know if AmiiBoss would work as intended. But, since the puppy shredded some of my Amiibo cards for Animal Crossing, I absolutely needed a way to make more chew-proof backups!

AmiiBoss works like a charm. It is incredibly simple to use! You can identify what a tag is, and write a new one! With little effort, I was able to get a back-up copy of my cards, and replace the mangled unusable ones. The developer is super responsive on Twitter, and AmiiBoss has been smooth sailing and bug-free. All you need are some dirt-cheap NFC tags (stickers and PVC coin shapes are popular), they are one time writeable, but you can use them as many times as you need to after that.

Donate and support the author! AmiiBoss does exactly what it says it does, and is super easy to use. :)

This is an amazing app. The service is wonderful and honestly has been around before a lot of people started using. To those complaining about having to pay: Apple has their in app purchase system set up to make it so if you want to charge for something, you have to go through them. Which means if our beloved dev decides to set up in app purchase, he will have to pay Apple for every transaction. It’s fair for him to circumvent this by having you pay him directly, just as we are circumventing a different system and making our own cards. Please. Stop. Complaining.

Hi so I’m giving this 4 stars because AmiiBoss works eventually, you just pretty much have to figure everything out on your own. Looks like an exact copy of AmiiBoss Placiibo but truly free with no limit (Placiibo has a 2 free limit then you have to pay). My issue though is anytime you encounter an issue or have a question, all you can find is “DM the owner” but it’s been 3 days without a reply, so, my feedback is to at least have instructions on how to use it, and a FAQ before mass release. Relying on DMs isn't ideal for both parties.
