I thought Waffle was free (based on write ups and app itself). We are going on a huge vacation with my family for almost a month and decided to upgrade to a plus for the year (for this ONE journal), to ensure I am including my husband and 2 sons. But now that we have used it for 24 hours, 4 entry’s and a handful of photos it will not allow me to add any additional photos unless I upgrade AGAIN! And the worst part is I cannot find a contact to ask how it get around this. I am I in another country and don’t have access to a computer. It is really very disappointing since I had planned to share our trip details with each other and cannot even get out of the airport without this app asking /demanding an upgrade from us! Sad

While Waffle has the potential to great, it’s substantially overpriced for the features available in other journals. The time wasting element of trying to figure out where a response occurred is so ridiculous in this tech era. It feels like the pretext of simplicity is deliberate, it avoids a standard experience in other journals making Waffle frustrating over time. You waste time seeking out the responses when any new input should be highlighted and accessible. The absence of the ability to add audio clips is so ridiculous. I can’t see Waffle can sustain user attention over time when it does the one thing we are trying to avoid, waste time and limits the full dimension of shared experiences in the absence of audio. The current pricing does not reflect good value compared to the competition, it takes a while of shared use to discover glaring design flaws that should not exist. I’m hoping future updates will address these concerns.

I had made two journals. One for my friend and I to use and then another for personal use. The one that I had made for my friend and I, my friend was able to write an entry on but it didn’t save the journal on my end. I had to request for approval to be added to the journal when I was the person who made it. So, that kinda bummed me out because we were really looking forward to journaling together since we are long distance friends.

My other journal is for personal use and it just disappeared and I am not one for journaling but I am trying to get into the habit of journaling and this really turned me off. Because if I have to request to get into my own journal when all I want to do is vent or write. Then that proves a lot of difficulties.

I love this journal!! It’s like all the best parts of twitter/social media + a groupchat. I love that there are no direct laugh replies bc I think it makes people feel less pressured to post something that gets lots of positive reactions. I would say tho:
1) I think it comes off really bad for them to remove the ability to 1) firstly remove the ability to add videos then 2) remove the FREENESS of the feature to add multiple photos. It is a JOURNAL, that is marketed as helpful for mental health and relationship building. Seems sort of money hungry to put the photos behind a paywall. When it was simply like pay = unlimited and 5-6 = free, I was like okay fine. But to only have one seems like the company cares less about user experience and more about making money. I also feel like paying 6.99 a month to add multiple pictures is way too much. Perhaps changing their model to being like a nonprofit where yall get money through mental health advocacy grants or something,, because asking users to pay so much for having more than photo (especially wen we originally did not) seems greedy/not fair.
2) it’d be cooler if we could actually customize the journal covers!!!! The generic journal cover lacks intimacy. I would also say that there should be an option to remove people from the journal.

We keep getting similar daily questions ever since Waffle started using an AI. It will just reword the same questions. Over and over again. It makes it boring when we already answered the question and it keeps asking it again. Please fix this!! I enjoyed using Waffle and too many days I have to put “already did this” on the questions. The types of questions from back before the AI were great and exactly what we wanted! Nothing has changed in months. We would just like some simple questions that get us thinking about things we haven’t thought about before.

I really like Waffle so far! I do have some recommendations on how to make Waffle better than it already is though! Maybe add in a commenting or reaction system to the journal if you’re sharing it with someone. A simple “like” feature or being able to comment something short and sweet in response to the journal entry would be really nice!
I also wish there was a dark mode 😂

Ok update: yesterday Waffle stopped working and wouldn’t anyone in my journal post (including myself). I got frustrated and uninstalled Waffle , but when I came back today there was a new feature that seems cool and Waffle is working just fine. I hope this doesn’t happen again because I lost a very important journal entry yesterday🥲

I love love love the format for making entries! It’s why I chose Waffle over others.

Only 2 problems, the videos you upload can only be up to 10 seconds and they don’t have any audio, even though it shows the volume. Weird.

Secondly, it would be perfect if you could control who gets to edit content versus just view it. Everyone added on gets to have access to edit whatever. I would like for it to be shareable with some family members, but not allow them to make their own entries or edit. Just like and comment.

Oh, and also you can only upload 6 pics at a time and 1 video at a time. Not the best but I can deal with it.

I still really enjoy Waffle and love the way it looks and how to use it. It’s super easy and inviting! It makes me want to keep using it and record every day. 👍🏽 Super grateful for Waffle .

Again, while a few other apps allow me to upload as much as I want, have audio, and control who can edit or only comment/like, the fact that I decided not to share this with extended family members makes Waffle the one for me because of the great format for uploading.

Super cute design and also user-friendly, this app is almost the PERFECT app for couple journaling! I especially appreciate the ability to log past entries, and the space to add a P.S. after every entry is a nice added detail. So far, you can only attach either multiple photos OR one video to an entry, so the only thing I’d really request is the ability to attach multiple videos to an entry, and the option to attach videos AND photos in the same entry. I never write reviews for apps, but I feel like this app is so close to being the perfect journaling app that I really wanted to provide this suggestion, so that users can continue to use Waffle with more and more enthusiastic satisfaction!

Needed a shared app to journal exercise with the wife together. Really like the simplicity and little icons to record our daily stuff, but Waffle has started collapsing everything from more than a few days ago and it’s really annoying to try to get them to open back up if we want to go back through prior days. There are also some issues with stability where it sometimes won’t post a new entry the first time you try to submit it and it’s a really low hit rate when trying to update a prior post with new numbers (for example, adding more push ups to the day’s count for our purposes). Overall, I like it, just wish a few things worked better.

Waffle is awesome so far and the team behind it seems so kind! I have two glitches to report tho. When you delete a journal it deletes properly but then you get stuck on a blank white screen and have to restart Waffle . The next problem is trying to create a journal to replace the one you deleted. It gets stuck on the creation screen even tho it makes the journal, closing and reopening Waffle fixes this too and the journal you made pops up. Oh, and I can’t change the cover for some reason, but that might be an error on my part.

I really love Waffle it appeared to me out of nowhere and as I was about to skip it I saw that it was sobering ti di with your friends which I thought was so sweet so I told my friend and we both ended up trying it out so far it’s really simple and I love that , the only thing I’m struggling with is that when I update a photo on an entry it won’t put the new photo I chose same with my profile picture I can’t change it
The book covers as well if I were to change It the entries would be lost as well
I can’t wait for what other things y’all are going to add to Waffle so far it’s really great

I’m a writer, and being able to organize my writing based on character, even having them react to similar situations from my life, is amazing and helps me a LOT with completing my workflow!
If there’s anything I could possibly say to add to Waffle, it’s that it would be super cool if there was a journal option with a color slider so that we could choose our own journal colors/patterns instead of just picking from the preset ones.
Other than that, Waffle is perfect in every possible way!

Hi I just want to say that this is one of the best apps for the purpose that is created for. I have the time to create journals with my partner that lives abroad and we save memories.
I only have a recommendation and is that Waffle allow us to create events with a back date like for example I’m trying to create an event for January 2021 but it’s not showing in a chronological order I think it only allows the creation of new events in current date.I want to say thank you to the creators and I can’t wait to see new updates in the coming future.

So far I’ve really been enjoying Waffle. Its a fun way to connect with my spouse and family members. I also am planning to use it for personal journal entries as I think it would be great for that as well. I like how simple it is and you can go back and read old entries. I do wish i could respond to other entries or react to them to show that I read it. Definitely recommend for people who are looking for a unique way to connect with their family and want to avoid the pressures of social media.

OK, so to start I have to say I LOVE Waffle. I don’t use it for family actually I use it personally for myself. I used to not journal much I have always felt it was a waste of paper so I stopped. So imagine my excitement when I saw an AD on Instagram for this app.

First I mean it’s CUTE!! You can change up the cover of your journal and Waffle icon is ADORABLE! I’d probably add a couple more journal covers for sure, I’d also add in more seasonal journal covers I think it’d be super cute to see some more seasonal ones like Valentine’s Day, maybe even adding a this app covered one to match Waffle icon.

Second I think it could definitely benefit from some things, like highlighting especially those who use it for family or maybe even those who use it to make lists or you know whatever they use it for. As well as maybe being able to change the font or italics.

Aside from all of that, I love Waffle it’s easy to use, it’s convenient on my phone when I wanna quickly open it up and jot something down especially since I usually forget so easily. Super surprised Waffle isn’t as popular as you’d think it would be.

No one really cares about my life on social media. I’ve collected people like Pokémon and sometimes it feels like no one really cares about my adventures or life struggles.

This journaling app allows me to write posts my family will be able to read and enjoy. Hopefully it will give my kids some insight to who I am, because I am sure they couldn’t care less right now as teenagers. And maybe if Waffle is around long enough my Grandkids can read about my life and all the stupid things I would like them to know.

It easy to share photos and videos. And I like the unlimited journals so I can write for myself or to my family.

If I would add a feature, I would make the published entries more visually appealing like a scrap book. Maybe vintage styles or stickers to give them more personality. Right now it’s laid out like a blog roll or social timeline, which works, however not as visually appealing as my handwritten journals. There are doodles all over my handwritten pages.

Whether if it’s family, friends, or partners, Waffle is a great catalyst for getting to know your people better. It doesn’t matter if you have problems or have the best relationship with your people; it’s a fun way of getting to know them deeper. The daily questions allow us to share our philosophies and explain our thoughts with no interruption in either parties. It’s a fun show-and-tell app. It’s also super convenient since we can read or write whenever we want without disturbing the other person.

A feature I would like to see added would be emoji responses to other people’s entry to show we read their entries.

Although I don’t journal heavily everyday, I always come back to Waffle to write down some thoughts on books, movies or quotes I like. It’s such a quiet place that I can focus only on things I enjoy.
Before this app, I used to post my thoughts or philosophy quotes on FB, so I know I will not loose them. After some time people told me they thought I was showing off “what an intellectual person I am”. That’s not what I wanted. So now, I only share with my closest ones.
It’s just so nice to occasionally scroll back and read the little treasures I collected.
May I suggest the developers to create a rewind feature, so I can see what’s posted on the same day a month/year ago 🙏

I definitely left a review, like, last night. BUT i have more to say !!
All of the apps current functions work really well, I just have an idea for the future, if it’s possible !
I think having iphone widgets for this app would be really useful, especially since, as far as I’m aware, they arent a thing yet. For example, you could have a lock screen reminder for the daily journal prompts, or quick-links to each journal, easily accessible from your home screen :)
I don’t know how much work would have to go into making that, but just saying it’d be cool. Even without the subscription, pretty much everything is up for grabs.
overall, I am still soso happy with Waffle !!

Waffle has been amazing for me. I get to journal anywhere, any time. Sometimes when I’m too tired or stressed I can just close my eyes and use dictation to get my thoughts in the journal.

I have one journal in Waffle that I share with my therapist so she always knows what’s going on with me. When she has time, she’ll even respond in Waffle to help me through the day/week.
I have a separate one for things I’m not ready for her to see too. All in the same app!

Lastly, the developers are awesome. I had a glitch and emailed them, and they actually responded, worked on the glitch, followed up with me, and then fixed it permanently and followed up again when it still wasn’t quite working.

Really appreciated their responsiveness and Waffle has really helped me use therapy more effectively as well as manage my mental health by myself!
