Whenever someone says “you have to pay to do anything”, usually I’m like “that’s bogus, you just have more limited features”.

Now I understand their point of view. Loopy Pro literally won’t let me record audio or add midi loops without paying. No, I’m not rich, I don’t have money to throw around at an app I can’t even try before buying. I bet LoopyPro is actually decent, I just don’t have the money to take the risk and find out.

I’ll continue to watch from the sidelines, seeing how development of LoopyPro goes, and hoping one day there might be a way to do something for free. I watched something similar happen with Remixlive, and I was pleasantly surprised by them.

This bug needs to be fixed ASAP; when the new update dropped, this bug didn’t apply to any new projects I did, but old projects I made before the update while I’m in the middle of playing the loops just… stopped playing audio! The audio completely cuts off and stays off even when I go to another project. It happens randomly when I tap on a clip or multiple clips that begin to play after a loop is finished. The remedy I had for it is restarting LoopyPro , but it still happens every single time. Please fix this. It gets more annoying the more its left unchecked. LoopyPro is an absolute lifesaver for me, so I’d really appreciate it if the bug got fixed. im using iPad air 2.

i’m a huge fan of Loopy HD i generally build all my tracks with it at some point so i was pretty psyched when Loopy Pro came out and i bought it as soon as i could. Personally i find it overly complex, not as direct as Loopy HD, it takes me awhile to build my loops and they generally end up a mess and essentially unusable by the time i’m thru. obviously this is just me, i’m sure other people can use it with great accuracy, i just find it cluttered and difficult to work with. i wish the developer had used the same format as HD and simply added the ability to link the loops to outside apps etc. Instead there’s too many controls, too much to go wrong and, in my case, it generally does. Nevertheless im still experimenting with it, maybe at some point it’ll click and i’ll be able to produce something viable with it. But for now Loopy HD is still my favorite of the two.

This is my favorite app now for writing music on the iPad. It’s very similar to having Ableton Live on iPadOS. Workflow is excellent and you can turn the program into almost anything with it’s customization. That said, there are a fair amount of bugs to be ironed out yet. Using the program I discovered a few that were disappointing, such as the ability to change midi controller profiles on the fly and I also had an issue with selecting your last tapped clipped. Michael (the dev) has been great and I’m sure these will be ironed out soon. It’s a 5 star app all the way, just needs a little refinement first.

LoopyPro is so powerful that I have yet to find the function that I need that Loopy Pro cannot provide. I’m admittedly a Loopy Pro rookie, but I’m a MIDI programmer and DAW user from way back. After 30 years in the game, there were many midi functions that I had made up my mind were simply not possible. Loopy Pro has forced me to completely change my way of thinking when arranging songs, using tools and deciding on creative direction. The usage of midi learn, the huge variety of midi controllable tools, and the automation of everything on board has made it possible for me to approach live performance of complicated midi productions in a way that is totally inclusive of the audience and allows the audience to see each step and engage in a way that keeps the performance of each song fresh and exciting with vocals and instruments that sound huge and energetic. Loopy Pro is a FIVE STAR GAME CHANGER!

I’m on week 2 of Loopy Pro, and tho I am picking up the in and outs of this amazing software, I know I haven’t even touched past the tip of this. There are so many people online explaining how to use it, but they are whipping thru the menus and important basics so fast,I’m feeling like an idiot. I’ve been looping with a loop pedal for years, this is nothing like that, but it is. Simply put, it is looping ,but on a whole new level. There needs to be someone who can explain the basics of Loopy Pro, in a slow, easy to understand pace. Step by step. I am so far behind the learning curve, but will push on. Because I love Loopy Pro, but haven’t even begun to learn how to operate it.
Update few weeks later.
Well I am now making templates and downloading samples. Loopy Pro has brought this all on. While a new side of creativity has been found using Loopy Pro.

Best looper ever!
The only thing I’m wishing for, is the option to chose Apps in the mixer inputs as well as Audio Units.
I have an old iPad (Air 1st gen) and I can’t use many instances of Loopy Pro in Audiobus in order to run let’s say four apps.
I’m running IBassist, Rock Drum Machine, SampleTank, and a live nylon guitar.
It’d be awesome if I can free loop on the fly these 4 inputs for some impromptu solos.
The thing is that those 3 apps don’t show in Loopy Pro (obviously) and I’d have to run everything through Audiobus with four instances (at least 3) of Loopy Pro.
Am I doing something wrong? Or I just need to upgrade my iPad?
I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

UPDATE: I can't thank you enough Michael for the Inter-App update and also I want to express my admiration to your incredible customer service. I never thought you would respond to me and on top of that it'd be so quick.
I have a question though, I couldn't yet load any Inter-App audio because Loopy Pro crashes in the process.
Would it be my slow old iPad Air (1st gen) the cause? If so, what iPad version would be the minimum requirement for a decent performance?

Ordered an RC505MKII months ago. Back ordered everywhere, but I could wait a few weeks, no problem. Got notified they’re looking at a 3-4 month setback. Bummer.

Later that week I was reminded of the Loopy upgrade from a post on Reddit. Realized I had everything already set up to utilize my iPad in my otherwise hardware setup. A few videos later I saw this was not the LoopyHD I knew with some bells and whistles, but much more.

Between looping korg gadget instruments and the moog model D app running thru different fx apps, and recording live drums and layering hardware synths and guitars, loopy pro has so far filled the gap in my setup and then some.

I’m hoping to utilize midi out to sequence hardware and launch sections on the fly. That’s the next trial run.

The sequencer section lets me sit at the drums and jam with myself with much more variety than my hardware alone can allow.

I’ve barely scratched the surface and I’ve already surpassed the capabilities of the 505. The number of loops alone makes it a no brainer.

Also, very pleased with the purchase method. In a world of ever increasing monthly subscriptions, this feels like a nice balance of value and keeping a project worthwhile for great developers. Hope it remains viable.

I am technologically illegitimate ☺️…and I wish I could comprehend all the things LoopyPro is capable of…. I am trying to use LoopyPro as a writing tool rather than a live looper perse… if I were to use it live I would use it with some pre recorded chord changes (as in more like backing tracks) I could perform over rather than a single chord or progression looped infinitely…. I think it’s hard to do a whole show of looping and keep people interested(at least from my experience)…. The quality of sound in loopy pro is phenomenal to me and with the apps available these days it’s almost overwhelming…. I continually have to strip things back down to guitar /vocal to write with or I start going around in circles😉….. I am 60 years old now and probably will not be able to devote enough time to understand how LoopyPro and others really work… but I will continue working at it and I think you have made a brilliant thing here

Loopy Pro is the killer-app for making music both live and in the studio. Take the time to learn it because it is configurable and you can build the user interface to match your style. Hardware controllers can be used to get you away from the touchscreen, which itself can be mastered to great effect even without extra hardware. I am avoiding the mobile version of Logic Pro because it is subscription based and lacks the subtle yet addictive magic present here in Loopy Pro! I am not sure why this user interface is so alluring but every DAW that exists needs to take a hint from this. UI is everything when it comes to beating the legendary hardware loopers out there and Loopy Pro has done it!

I have always loved Loopy but this takes it to a new level. Fantastic, fun, deep, and just one he// of a great app. The developer is a wonderful guy who has made a perfect companion app to the original Loopy. I have a Boss RC-505 and I rarely use it. I still use LoopyPro and the original Loopy at 90% of any live gigs I do. I just really dig the workflow of both apps. Also, LoopyPro is NOT subscription based. You can get a cheaper yearly subscription if you don’t want to spend a few more dollars but it isn’t one of those ‘money grab’ subscription apps. That is awesome. Yes-you have to dish out a bit more money up front but it is way cheaper than most of Korg’s apps and this is not a big corporation. This is a sole developer. If you have a question and send him an email-he will always respond. That is just one more thing that makes LoopyPro special. This and Loopy are hands down the best loopers for iOS.

This is not a subscription. You own the software once you buy it, period. The subsequent annual payments are just paying for feature releases. If you don't want that, no obligation. Use it as is forever. A subscription wouldn't allow that. You still get fixes for OS updates, too. If you want a product that improves over time, invest in it. If you don't see the value in that or it already does everything you need, then don't pay the measly ~$20/year and you still get to keep using the software. As for the person who left a bad review because they misunderstood this payment model, I counter that "greed" also applies to the consumer who thinks a developer owes them eternal time and effort for extra features with no additional compensation. This Dev is a good guy and fair. This product is a brilliant and beautiful creation. I recommend it without reservation.

This a GAME CHANGER! Im more of a traditional beat-maker/producer - so notComing from a looping background. I am also a professional musician. I've been working with iOS for over five years now. But still putting tracks together, in the box, my desktop. I have been using Ableton live since version 4, Reason since 2.5. And now I am seriously considering, once my love desktop finally croaks, I am going full iOS, and Loopy Pro will be my main Creative DAW. ASoon as they started understanding LoopyPro, which didn't take long, I immediately started deleting other apps. It's alreadyClear to me that with a more powerful iPad, I would not need much else. This is the AUM killer. The only other sampler I can see using in parallel is koala. Well done!

It’s a looper, a clip launcher, an AU host. It’s basically a DAW since you can record to a timeline and I guess it’s getting MIDI soon too. Have been using Ableton since v2, long before it had MIDI and this on the same level of special. It’s reminiscent of Ableton, but you can change the interface elements and touch them. It’s very deep and the dev has put A LOT of thought into so many details of the interface. Truly impressive 👌. Still early days and I have a feeling when more templates come out many MANY minds will be blown.

Also, I hate subscriptions, and this is not one. You get to use what you buy with free bug fixes after the year is up. That’s fair

LoopyPro is elegant in design and function, and deserves all the praise it is getting. Really well though out with a mild learning curve to learn all the tools available. Powerful.

However ios offers very limited connectivity with external hardware without investing in several peripherals for wired headphones, instruments, midi, charging, and additional ports. Apple continues to cripple audio connectivity on newer devices, so I feel like the ios platform doesn’t deserve LoopyPro. I hope Apple appreciates developers making their app store great with innovations like LoopyPro.

You can get some great results from just the internal mic and au plugins, but you will probably need an adapter for wired headphones because bluetooth latency is an issue with real time audio.

I encourage Michael to branch out to other platforms that offer better audio connectivity to realize loopy’s full potential, because the design sensibilities here are top notch. If this interface was on a touchscreen hardware device with real audio connectivity it would blow away the entire Boss product lineup.

I’ve used many looping systems from hardware to Ableton and oh my…Loopy Pro is changing my whole set up. There is so much that can be customized and the whole ecosystem is very intelligently thought out. Michael, the developer is passionate and has a direct relationship with the user base. He listens and gets things done. A note about the pricing model: what are getting for the price of a dinner out is a fully featured Live Looping system with mixing and DAW capabilities that is also under continuous dedicated development and evolution. This pricing model makes it possible for this one man operation to continue to support and improve on an amazing professional piece of software.

I’ve never had so much fun with music before. I have always loved music and envied just how good some musicians are. I just know I could never be that good. I’ve tried for thirty years now. I get to a point were I learn how to play a new instrument but never master anything the talent just isn’t there. So over the years I have collected just enough knowledge on 5 or 6 of them to make some thing sound okay. With Loopy Pro I can take 5 or 6 instruments that sound okay and tweak and rearrange correct pitch, speed and tempo add FX bus sounds together. And create my own on screen controls quickly and intuitively then assign actions to those controls to control just about anything you can think of. Or map midi instruments and actions to your own controllers. I’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars on music software over the years and never had more fun or been able to create anything so quickly and easily before. I think I like it so much because it’s so customizable you can make it look and function any way you like. I’ve never been able to learn a new music software so quickly. And I’ve never been so impressed with the support you get from the developer himself. I’ve asked a question on a facebook group about how to do something in LoopyPro . And the developer himself will respond to me. 🤩I Love It!!!

As a professional performer that specializes in loop-based performance. I’ve used almost there, from hardware pedal loopers by boss, digitech, EH, headrush, and TC electronic to complex midi setups with Ableton and the Mac.

Loopy pro is as more powerful than all of hardware pedals, it’s not even close. And it outdoes ableton for one HUGE reason: Customization!

Ableton is it’s own thing, and while it’s very good, it is not designed with looping as the focus point. Whereas every feature and design point of loopy pro is geared towards the workflow of either performance or composition. It’s really astounding what LoopyPro is capable of. As someone who performs with sample based percussion, vocals, guitar and keys, I can set up sessions with fully customizable templates on a song by song basis, complete with widgets that be assigned to about anything you can think of. It really can be as simple or complex as you want it to be.

On top of that, the community is fantastic and the lead developer is always listening and engaging with it. I’d give 10 stars if I could!

Man. LoopyPro surprised me. I was originally looking just for an app to have good routing between various iOS apps and maybe record some guitar loops here and there. I quickly found the workflow super intuitive. I could layer stuff as fast as I could think of ideas. Being able to then sequence them on a timeline was even better. I was able to sync up my MC707 groovebox with it and now I get all the good tones of the 707, along with guitar or vocals through the 707 into my iPad and can do the fun arranging and experimenting in Loopy Pro. Once I have polished ideas, I can export stems to Zenbeats or Reaper and finish mixing and mastering there. I mainly needed the fast arranging piece that was missing on the 707 and in DAWs, and this seems to be LoopyPro . Well worth the $$ and the developer did a great job with UI. Being a former developer myself with an eye for UI, I can greatly appreciate that part of the experience. I'm sure I haven’t scratched the surface at all it can do either.

This is one of the most enjoyable music-creation apps. On my iPhone and iPads (and soon to come: Mac), in the AppStore, or even in existence, anywhere!
It’s SOOOO flexible! You can adapt it completely, customize the layouts, the triggers, functions, Inputs/Outputs, every bit of it, to suit what you want to be able to create with it. You can create buttons to do multiple things, even make “invisible” Follow Actions: things that happen following anything specific happening. You can change between multiple layouts, change effects’ parameters, switch between inputs or outputs, even send MIDI Program Changes, at the tap of a button, or a MIDI message. You decide how LoopyPro works for you!
LoopyPro is sooo much more than it seems. I’ve been using it for many months, yet still discover new ways I can make use of its infinite possibilities basically every time I dive into the inner workings! It is continuously being updated with new, exciting features (there’s a roadmap site where you can request and vote on new features/functions) and Michael is super active with his community.
I can’t recommend Loopy Pro enough! And I cannot wait for the MacOS version coming soon, to once again totally transform how I create music completely!

This is what I’ve been looking for in my journey of iOS music software as a hub for live clip launching and looping. Although there are features to use as a full DAW (that I’ve not yet explored), the possibilities for live set up, looping, clip manipulation are endless. Especially since it integrates AUV3s so well. This is as close (and in some ways better) as you will get to ableton live for the iOS.

This software, although simple and colorful in appearance is very deep. So beware, it will take some time to figure out how to customize and learn your way around this. It’s easy to get lost in the weeds and frustrated. I almost considered a 4 star review as I’m learning (and sometimes getting lost) on all the functions, but this is still just head and shoulders above any clip launcher or looping software that’s on the iOS. You also have a very responsive support network for troubleshooting and a developer that is responsive and committed to continue to make this even more awesome. I am certain this will keep getting better and better. Quite frankly, I never write reviews but I’ve never been as excited about, not just a live performance tool, but a truly creative platform for making music on the iPad. This is a game changer.

I’m new to live looping and have tried a few different setups but Loopy Pro has been the best by far. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want. If you just want to hop in and record some audio, you can just load it up and the default project is perfect to get started. From there, you can quickly add interface elements if there’s something specific you want to be able to do for whatever music you’re currently playing.

More importantly, everything is fast. Most things you’d want to do in the moment, you can do immediately using gestures. You can turn down the volume on an individual clip just by spinning your finger around it. It even helps with small interface elements in clever ways to quickly and temporarily make them larger.

If you want to jump down the rabbit hole, the interface is incredibly customizable with a large number of actions that you can map directly to controls or gestures on those controls.

The color groups are an amazingly intuitive way to deal with shared behavior. All of the I/O you’d want out of an iOS music app is there. It has its own arranger. I could go on.

It also has a free trial, so if it looks good, try it out. Just make sure you actually set aside some time to really try to make music with it. I toyed around with it a bit an then put off buying it for a while, but once I hooked it up to my hardware rig and starting using it for real, I quickly fell in love.

Can’t play a guitar or piano or anything for that matter but with loopy combined with a few others apps I’m able to do what I never thought possible. LoopyPro is incredible. You can spend so much money on LoopyPro Store buying apps that say there easy to use and they’re either trash, overwhelming, or require a musical background. Loopy is not one of those apps. This is straight forward. Everything is explained extremely well. There’s plenty of videos you can find if you need more help. It’s just awesome. I admire the creativity it took to put this thing together. Well done and thank you

Seriously, this application is a true work of art. I’m a self taught muso/audio engineer with a tendency to noodle around with technology. I had all but given up on iOS as a platform to create and returned to a laptop. However as a guitar player I recently got interested in loop pedals. Tried a few out ( friends ) but really couldn’t see how they would satisfy my ‘noodling’ gene. After investigating a few laptop plug in options ( not really enjoyable ) I downloaded this app , plugged in an iRIG HD2 I had lying around and OM Goodness . Is there nothing LoopyPro can’t do ? It runs so well, it seems handle all my AU and IAA plugins flawlessly ( nothing ever seemed to that in the past ) and has turned my older iPad into a wonderfully fun sound machine. And it lets me fiddle around with effects and configuration effortlessly. Don’t be scared though … as long as you can plug in a sound source it will just do what you think it should right out the box! As a an app it is architected beautifully … the thought and talent required for this blows my mind. Six stars If you want to loop and have an iPhone / iPad stop wasting time looking around and buy this. Nothing else comes close.

While researching DAWs for iOS for my partner, I came across reviews for Loopy Pro, and got intrigued. Then I got obsessed. So I bought an old, used iPhone, bought LP, and have had zero regrets. For as much customization as I knew I wanted to do, though, the iPhone was just too small of a screen, so I bought a used iPad. My obsession grows by the week. I’m less looping focused than most, and use it primarily as an incredibly customizable instrument (I’ve made a seven octave isomorphic keyboard on it using the DCompose layout). But when I decide that playing that instrument into loops would be fun, it really shines and impresses my friends.

If you don’t want to go down the insane rabbit hole of customization, I’d recommend picking one of the pre-made projects (or just the default), and just treating it like an incredible loop station, and I would 100% recommend it. I gave my 70 year old dad the iPhone, and he just uses the default page, looping his voice with a USB mic, and he loves it.

If you want to make some simple changes, you can easily do that. But I f you aren’t afraid of thinking like a programmer, there’s no limit to what this thing can do.

I am in awe of what Michael has created here. This allows me to do everything I kept attempting to do in other daws (Cubasis, Garage Band, Logic Pro, Beatmaker 3, etc…) and AUM (my previous go to for live jams). This has me wanting to sell my Akai Force now. This does what I got the Force for, only better and more reliably while reducing the complexity of my setup. The fact that I can create my own interface with the canvas and use all of my AUV3 effects with my collection of hardware synths… LoopyPro is truly incredible. At first glance my mind was boggled by the apparent complexity but a few hours of watching tutorials and experimenting and I am able to do anything I can imagine. Only thing I wish I could do was record midi loops so that I could have it controlling the playing of an external synth while still using that synth’s hardware controls to modify the sounds live. Then it would legit do everything I’ve been able to imagine yet. Thank you Michael for creating this amazing tool!

I have been using an earlier version of Loopy for a while & then I got a great deal on a Boomerang III. So, I have spent some time getting my head around the Boomerang & I wanted to see how integrating Loopy with the pedal would work. Then I saw this version had come out, saw the new features & bought it the same day. I am running 2 projects now, maxing out my RAM & the difference is amazing. On the one hand, being able to do things in this version is so much quicker & easier. Some of the features are still a challenge but I’ve only had it for a few days. Once I got accustomed to the obvious features, like REPEAT/ONE SHOT & such it’s a massive upgrade from the previous version. Assigning colors also is very helpful:
ORANGE = perc/drums
YELLOW = repeat Loops
RED SQUARE = one shots
BLUE = outro loops

This makes keeping track easier & of course, naming the audio helps keep track of what the audio is for.

A fantastic upgrade to the point it is an entirely new app.

I absolutely love the idea of LoopyPro, and have heard so much good about it. However, as a blind individual, I'm unable to use any of the amazing features within loopy pro. I've used loopy hd for years, and have loved the accessibility included within that program. I would immensely appreciate if the pro app would also work with the ios screen reader known as voice over. I know that this isn't a push of a button solution, however i do hope that someday I might be able to fully appreciate the amazing capabilities of loopy pro.

I’ve been live looping guitars and various instruments as a solo performer for 25+ years. This is the live looper I’ve always dreamed of. You can customize it to fit your looping setup in so many ways, the possibilities seem endless. It’s laughable for me to think how much money I’ve spent on various loopers over the years to only have a mobile app completely blow them all away. The robust community of users and the tireless app developer have such a great ongoing dialogue it gives me confidence that LoopyPro will be around and supported for a very long time.

When you want a developer to keep working on a complex piece of software you don’t set up a one time purchase pricing model. This leads to abandoned apps and brand new versions that require you to rebuy LoopyPro . TastyPixel have done us all a favor by giving us the best of both worlds… pay for LoopyPro as-is, and have a simple upgrade path in the future only if you want to. This is a concept we’re all used to by now in desktop software. Stop complaining about a developer trying to earn a living making awesome software like this.
