Can’t connect.

Can not connect my monolith m-twe. It works just once and after that it stopped working. I am not going to unpair and pair the earbuds every time I want to use sound id. Shame!!!

Great for owners of supported headphones.

I love the value it adds to my Drop THX Pandas. I actually bought them because of the integration with SoundID. I have had moments of finicky-ness with syncing eq profiles but I’m not sure if that’s due to the headphones or SoundID . But it’s never taken more than 2 tries to successfully sync.

It would be really cool to be able to have multiple custom presets for when you have a sound you like and want to see if it could be tweaked to be better but dont want to lose a good sound or go through the 15 minutes it would take to painstakingly recreate your eq profile. It’s not really feasible to manually save and recall custom eq presets because of the lack of db readings to the 10ths place, so -2 db could mean -2.1 or -2.9. Even just 3 slots would be a welcome addition!

Great company

I bought the true-fi app a while ago. I really love when companies stand by their product. So many times they get your money and dump the program after some time. Not this company, they stick with you.

As far as SoundID , I currently can’t use it because I sold the headphones that had the profile (hd650’s). I have jh 13 and verum headphones which don’t have a sound profile. I’m ok with this since I know I can use this product when it is updated or I get new headphones they have profiles for.

Does Nothing For Your iOS Device

SonarWorks Review: this app

[Edit: Added stars after Sonarworks granted Tru-Fi users a license; this address my “abandonware” complaint. Thank you.]

TL;DR - With this app (iOS), SonarWorks would like to provide input, personal profiles, into their MacOS “this app Listen” product.

Pros:

- Hasn’t crashed
- Nice design
- The company is responsive
- Good intentions
- Excellent promise

Cons:
- this app does...nothing?... for your iOS device at this time. I wish there were no ratings for this sort of utility.

This is not an iOS equalizer. In fact, this is nothing for your iOS device. I believe it is primarily a utility for the SonarWorks MacOS application, “this app Listen.” As such, it should not even be given a rating in the iOS App Store. It is a companion utility app.

I’d like to thank SonarWorks for clarifying the cost of their iOS app. Paying nothing for an iOS app that does nothing for my iOS device seems fair. It works with a $44 a year subscription for their MacOS applicaiton to be useful today.

Be sure to check SonarWork’s website to see if they have support for your headphones before spending $44 a year.

Love this App!

I discovered Sound ID from being a Sonarworks user for years and I am equally as happy with this as I am Reference 4! I hope to be able to be an audio engineer into my later years and I feel that SoundID will play a huge roll in me being able to do that effectively. The A-B identification process was straight forward, accurate, and I was really happy with my ID profile at the end! Excited to see the further development of SoundID.

Disappointing

As someone who uses Sonarworks when working on headphones in my DAW, I was excited to see an iOS app... but for some reason, it doesn’t do anything to improve your iOS listening experience outside of SoundID . I was impressed with my “Sound Profile” after I went through the set up, but the corrective EQ is only active when you’re in their app, and I can’t listen to my music from there...

So I guess if you’re like me, somebody who was excited at the possibility of having Sonarworks on my phone, you’ll probably be disappointed too. If they ever make this work like their Reference software does, I’ll come back to SoundID in a heartbeat and likely change my tune.

Pure Listening Pleasure

"this app works with the phone, speakers, or laptop you already have and delivers an instant upgrade to your listening pleasure. You no longer have to be in an ideal audiophile listening environment to experience the mix as it was intended for your ears. Best of all, your personalized this app is saved and can be used with any new devices or speakers that you may use in the future."

Just... wow!

A few things:

1. This is amazing for the desktop environment. You guys absolutely need to creat the testing for desktop users seeing as the EQ settings can be set universally for sound as opposed to only being played through SoundID .

2. If you get this set to be universal on iPhone/Android with different profile selection this would be an absolute game changer. Having an EQ for desktop then one on my phone while on CarPlay would be absolutely amazing as I only have bass & treble for an output setting in car.

3. I hooked up my HD 660s using a few adapters to my iPhone (only way to use the EQ setup) went to my desktop and the difference in output is absolutely night and day. I love the difference!

I’m using HD 660s with a JD element 🙂

Dope!

I thought SoundID on both iOS and OS worked seamlessly. The sound profiles are interesting to me, especially as a mixing engineer. Feel like after I did all the test, my hearing experience was accurate! Felt like I was hearing bass, especially real low notes better than I have before!

Nice!

Easy to use, can try for free and pair with a desktop 60-day trial. Anyone familiar with Sonarworks will see a familiar approach, now with individualized preference, and hearing, profile testing for a lot of popular headphones. Worth checking out!

Improvement is needed

Great idea. I have their standard program that flats out the headphones response. That idea was great too but it did not work for me. Again SoundID is great only if works. The analysis is not doing its job and the result is far from satisfaction level. Also it does not let me access iTunes or my own files stored in iCloud. I have ear buds Liberty pro 2 and it has similar feature and works 10 times better.

Give us a generic option

None of my earbuds were covered by SoundID . It wasn’t that they are bad - just older models. Might be nice to have some generic profiles to pick from.

I didn’t notice a huge difference with good headphones. For me it brightened the middle and I had a similar experience with True-fi, their desktop product.

Less awesome headphones seemed to benefit the most for my aged ears.

IOS Version Confusion

Hello! I see that there’s a chance this will be able to work on IOS. Is there any update on when that might be? It would be incredible to be able to use SoundID across the entire IOS audio.

Also, is there a decibel slider in SoundID somewhere like in the OS version?

Sounds great but has one sight problem

I just have problem when will we be able to use SoundID instead just using the try out I would love to pay for it but I can’t use it for the lab top I have a phone and would rather use it there

Forced into music service use?

SoundID is a replacement, as i understand it, for a headphone profiling app that accessed itunes. I loved that app. It no longer works with itunes, i guess, and the developer made no mention of that as i was recreating the profile i had made for the old app. So, after creating the new profile i refused the service. When reopening SoundID it forced me to start from scratch. I am now deleting SoundID .

Great idea

Ran through the listening test and love how it creates a personalized experience for my taste in the content I enjoy. Cannot wait to see this in more products!

Great but where are my headphones?

Simple to use, great interface, and the resulting sound is amazing. My only complaint is that not all of my headphones are listed. The standard Razer Kraken, Beats urBeats3, and Audio-Technica ATH-CK3TW are not options. All of my Sony cans are on there. I just wish the gear I use most with my phone was on here.

Drop THX finally connects (needs firmware update)

Update your headphone firmware if you can’t connect. Unclear if the settings chosen stick with the headphones without the mac applications. Seems like not? Cool to see it working either way

Great sound

Finally an app that allows me to hear my music with a quality that was made for me. Ez to use and setup.

Good idea

I’ve tried it on some songs that I’ve listen to million times og million different speakers and headphones, and I don’t agree with the sound that it’s making for me, I think it’s way to processed, I don’t like it. I love Reference though, it has really helped me with my mixes lately
