It was a great start to bring back the manual capture so all receipts could be photographed regardless of lighting conditions. Second thing to bring back is the “Send to this app” function for electronic attachments and severely punish whomever took that away in the first place…And as a Final request give us back the ability to create and add all of our own categories and to completely delete all of the standard categories that you have included so the software can learn our individual accounting codes etc…

I’m not sure what this app was thinking regarding this new app. It is truly awful. Trying to use the picture mode to upload receipts is so difficult I’ve abandoned that process. I now take a photo with my phone and upload. Trying to use the auto picture you need a contrasted background and that’s not always an option. At times I’m on a flight or at a restaurant with white tables. And then it need to take the photo of the whole receipt which at times is far away and then you can’t read it. Don’t know why you can’t still have the crop feature if needed.

Forget about no longer being able to go into a file on your cabinet then upload a file into that folder. Not you need to capture the receipt and then go to the captured receipt and move it to the desired folder. Time consuming and bothersome.

Very disappointed with the new app. I have no doubt I’m not the only one.

Today after my brand new ND1000 unit was taken out of storage and need to be put to use I contacted customer service. I was directed to purchase a plan and then was transferee to tech support where my rep was Danie. Danie was very informative and patient as I am not very tech savvy. Danie got me up and running, helped me set up my mobile access and helped me with any and all question and showed me examples on the system and I can assure there were many. This was the best customer service ever. After my old archive files are accessible, I know I can reach out to customer service without reservations and get the best customer service. Danie has set the bat very high!!! Thank you so much!!

So many things have changed when I first started using this app. I bought an original invoice/receipt scanner. Then Neat came out. It wasn’t great, but it was doable. Took forever, but was better than waiting to get home and use the scanner w the desktop.

Now there’s an update, and things are quicker, but I’m so tired of capturing a photo, go to unfiled folder to edit, move receipt to a folder, then it locks up. I literally have to get get out of Neat , reopen it, go back to the unfiled folder to go to the next receipt. This is ridiculous. Instead of going smoothly and quickly, it takes just as much time as before.

I really hope this can be updated to make this easier.

The latest updates finally have Neat working, but I still think the old app that this replaced was easier to use

I’ve used this app since 2012. I just went back to an iPhone and downloaded Neat to get some paperwork off my desk. It’ll take me 20 years to file all these receipts with the convuluted changes you’ve made to Neat. You’ve ruined it. I’ll be canceling and finding another service ASAP. I don’t have time for manually putting files into a folder, nor waiting for your app to magically take the picture. I used to be able to open the folder I wanted things to go in, point, click, boom, done. Now I have to position the phone just perfect way above the image and wait for your app to take a pic and then it puts it in a random area that I then have to go back and find and place in the correct tax folder. That’s insane.

This used to be a simple tool to use. Now it’s overly complex, too many places to click to save anything, or to move seamlessly to the next item on a list. This tool is getting too overburdened with bells and whistles and not sticking to simplicity which was the initial concept when it was this app. If I have a list of un-filed documents and am updating/editing/filing them, wouldn’t it be obvious that if I save one, it should move to the next in the list? Why do I have to hit “OK” after something is saved?? Just move on!
C’mon guys, think this through in development. Simple, or completely useless bells and whistles?

Just installed this because the old app said it was being retired in favor of this new version. Downloaded and opened it up, and it's nothing but a money grab to get you to upgrade to a higher-priced tier of service. The only thing you can do with a basic subscription is scan receipts. Every other function requires an upgrade.

With the old app I could see all my scanned receipts and files in Neat - not any more...not even with an upgrade. No ability to see your stuff at all in all app. Total junk.

Time to look for a new solution for saving my receipts and documents.

I bought the expensive scanner and software then when they took it off line I wasn’t able to even access the files stored on my computer with the desktop software unless I pay their new monthly service so now all my data is held hostage by them and I can even chat with them cause their chat support says they will only respond to paying customers. At least let me download my data or let me keep using the desktop software that you guys are taking off line why lock out the data that’s on my computer and forcing me to pay ??

If you are a long term paying customer to this app, now is the time to dump them! I totally concur with all the other reviews. This is a horrible limited capability app. It is like being forced to ride a bicycle after you have been driving a car for years. If this app forces Neat on me after June 30 - like they have announced - I will dump them for certain!!!! this app, you have been forewarned. If I were you, I’d fire the CTO or whoever is leading this new app. Not doing so means your current customers will definitely fire you!!! The choice is yours! No customers means no business. Think about that!

This new version of this app is absolutely TERRIBLE, the reason why I used this service was for it to help me create a report from the receipts that I scanned in which the older version of Neat did, this new version does not allow me to reconcile unless I have my bank linked to it which I prefer not to have. At this point I will be cancelling my account after 7 years of using the services. Thank you for your time but I will no longer be paying $35 your updates services which are now useless to my needs. Cancelling my account effective today!

Good but can be better, In the smartphone app all features is important but one of the most important features is the ability to share files on whatsapp and other apps like telegram etc or simply save on my galery but this option on this app is no possible only is possible share via Email and this is very limitant and i need indeed send to my email and then download for share.

I hope that this app relents on forcing all users to their new scheme. It may work perfectly well for some customers but isn’t going to work for me.

I have been a customer for years and years! I have file systems set up that help me organize my data. Now we won’t be able to use Neat to open files. What were they thinking.

I’ll not be paying for an app that doesn’t work; I’m sure there is someone else that would love to inherit all of the customers this app is clearly taking for granted.

I haven’t explored other apps because I have so much time and data wrapped up in the “this app bundle” that it wasn’t worth the aggravation. Now it appears that I won’t have a choice.

Pay attention to your existing customers as you go off chasing new business; or all you will have all new users who have no loyalty to you.

I have been using this app for 7 years. I liked it with its limitations and occasional bugs. I like it even more now. The functionality is clever and flexible. It is reliable and consistent. Easy to use and easy to teach others.

No you can use your smart phone a lot more to enter information and to scan images into this app.
Reconciliation is greatly improved

I used to be able to see my files through the mobile app as a paying customer but this newer version doesn’t have that.
Also, I don’t see the multiple pages option that I loved in the prior one. Can’t tell if the capture worked until I go online on Neat .

You can search for a receipt but can’t sort and if you select the “More” (where I was looking for sort options not there) you can’t go back to the search results and have to start again. Terrible iPhone UI, unless there’s something I’m missing here.

Have used this app since 2012 but now will be looking for an alternative as it’s not worth the fee I pay for what I use it for.

The recent updates have streamlined the process and Neat is much easier to use. I increased my rating from two stars to four.

Very disappointed with the new mobile app. Cannot view my filing cabinet or directory of files. Thankfully this is not changed on the web based app. Looks like my only option is to use my mobile Device to login to my web based account. This particular New app is to the most part useless to me. Had a good product. Should have left it alone.

I have been trying and trying and trying to figure out how I can use my iPhone this app app. I use Sam’s club to be able to send my receipt to my this app mobile. NOW, It does not work!! You have change and upped up the cost for the this app system. The new version and the new price are both terrible. I am really really trying to stay with you. Fix it please.

App is less intuitive, less discoverable, and buggy to the point that I literally cannot scan & save a document anymore.

Neat has literally two jobs - scan & file quickly (completely broken) and retrieve & share (for some reason your file cabinet is a sub menu item buried in More… & when you want to share it generates a link instead of a PDF which is a terrible user experience)

I pay too much for the subscription a year for just the very basics not to work. Done with this app. There are plenty of much cheaper, less buggy alternatives.

The interface between the phone and the computer makes Neat convenient and easy to use. I have been using it for several years since it had the this app scanner. It is definitely gotten more easy to use in personal device friendly. I would have given it five stars if I had more control over the camera. And taking photos of receipts it does not seem to recognize receipts unless there is a drastic difference between the receipt color in the background color. It would be nice to be able to control that on my own...to manually frame the receipt and manually take the picture.

After upgrade app constantly freezes after choosing my cabinet then my folder. I have to restart the numerous times before I can save. The previos version of Neat was better. Less features but I had no issues saving my receipts
