Terrible customer service for the monthly cost

I listened to all the sounds from the night after my first night. From a recording at 4:45am I heard two men whispering in the background and you could hear one of them saying “did you put it in the bag?” And the other said “yea”. Im a single woman living alone. Once I heard it the next day I called the cops and they did a full swoop of my house and confirmed they heard voices in the recording. Being that I heard the sound the next day there was not much the police could do and suggested I reach out to ShutEye to see if they could send me a longer version or the recording etc..

I sent an email to the apps customer service. I heard nothing for 3 days and emailed them again. I then got a response after a week saying “thank you we will pass along your feedback”. I wasn’t giving feedback I was inquiring about my safety and well being and asking for their help as I was fearful someone broke in. For an app that costs $40 a month I’d expect the customer service to be helpful and not robotic and disregard all requests. Is a shame bc I actually enjoyed ShutEye but don’t want to promote or give money to a service that doesn’t care about their users well being

Great app, but…

ShutEye has been super useful for me in tracking my sleep while in the process of adjusting medications! However, there’s one major problem that I have with it: it effectively assumes that the time between you waking up and you stopping ShutEye is just you forgetting to turn it off. This has been a major issue for tracking my sleep quality, because a lot of the time, the actual scenario is “I woke up several hours earlier than I intended to, lay in bed trying to fall back asleep for two hours, and then gave up.” This results in ShutEye thinking my sleep quality as lower on days where I AM successful in falling back asleep than the days where I’m not, which is obviously a major issue when my goal is to track insomnia. Would absolutely change this to 5 stars if ShutEye developers added a way to tell ShutEye whether you were awake but forgot to turn it off or you were trying to sleep the whole time it was running, and adjusted sleep quality accordingly.

Nope

I’d like to know how it thinks I’m asleep when I’m up moving around carrying my phone with me. There needs to be a way to say “no I didn’t fall asleep in 17 minutes, I’m 43 and have never fallen asleep in 17 minutes, even when I haven’t slept at all the night before because I have raging insomnia.” At first I thought it was tracking my husband who falls asleep in seconds, but nope. We slept in separate rooms for a week. How am I asleep when I’m adjusting the phone volume or switching to a different recording to play? There’s no way to leave feedback when you wake up about how you slept or anything, just the three stupid emojis. Waste of money.

After their response is like to update. Says if I don’t make much noise moving around it won’t register it. Let me clarify. I live in a house with 6 children. It is NEVER quiet. How much noise do I have to make? “Call the cops bcuz there’s an intruder” noise? Seriously. And again, I’m playing games on the phone ShutEye is running on…yet I’m sleeping. The phone is being moved around…yet I’m sleeping. And apparently I sleep drive, cuz we went to the gas station once. Whatever. ShutEye is pointless.

This app is really good but

There should be a longer free trial ( 2 weeks-1 month ) because not everybody knows if they really need it or not because what if there wasn’t much that came up like you snored once and even if your report comes out with multiple things it also doesn’t mean your going to do the same thing again so you should try to make more things free or make this cheaper I know that you get half off but this is still very expensive but not just that like what if you were really tired during the week and you installed ShutEye after that you would probably get the subscription and by the next week you would feel better but you would also have no need for it and you already paid so I’m basically trying today that we should be amble to get a longer subscription or pay for only the stuff we need

Pretty Good Recording Quality

Good:

ShutEye does better than others I’ve tried at actually recording noises during the night. They are usually miscategorized, but that is not a huge issue.

Neutral:

It does an okay job of actually tracking sleep. It’s accuracy is far from perfect. It often “misses” my wake ups during the night, for example. But it’s at least as good as other trackers I’ve tried and maybe a bit better.

Bad:

It’s impossible to change their suggestions. It asked me what my ideal sleep schedule would be. However, my ideal is not realistic (since my job wants me there at 8 AM not 1 PM!). I didn’t realize I would never be able to change. ShutEye now thinks I should go to bed at 1:30 and get up at 9. I could that for a couple days before getting fired maybe.

It is very naggy. Get up when you wake up that’s 30 minutes earlier than usual? Nag. Go to bed earlier or later? Nag. I get that consistency is good, but this seems to be totalitarian in outlook.

Speaking of totalitarian, the text suffers from a subpar English translation. It’s easily understandable, but just different enough to make you recall that it is, in fact, translated. It makes me wonder how safe my data is.

Summary:

I probably won’t renew this when it comes due. It is okay, but for me the lack of customizability/flexibility outweighs the decent recording ability. I will look for another solution down the road.

A few kinks but I really like it

I really like ShutEye so far but I don’t see how it will work for me personally. I’m open to suggestions as maybe there is something I’m not aware of.

So far, it’s combining the sleep of my husband and I. The tracker shows I am in deep sleep when in fact I’m wide awake listening to my husband snore. And it recorded him coming in from work and taking medication as me teeth grinding and in deep sleep. Nope. While I am able to mark the recordings as errors, it would be nice to be able to make a quick note of why it’s an error (not my snore, I’m awake, that’s a pill bottle). It seems to me this feedback would help this app better identify the noises it hears to track better. I’m exhausted from little sleep and yet it states I was asleep 6:17 of the 7 I was in bed. In fact I was awake much more and walking around at a time it tells me I was deep sleeping. I’m confused but there must be a better way.

Does not identify true awake status

I have a habit of waking up in the middle of the night and being unable to fall back asleep for hours. Often times I will get on my phone to scroll or to look for music/white noise to help me fall back asleep. ShutEye would be so much more helpful if it could tell when you have picked up/unlocked/or are using your phone. I was awake last night from about 2:30 to nearly 5 and for over an hour of that time, though I was actively using my phone, ShutEye recorded it as deep sleep. I will also wake up and try to turn on sounds within ShutEye to encourage me to fall back asleep and it doesn’t even seem to recognize that use as wakefulness, despite me clicking around in ShutEye . Until that issue can be fixed this is a mediocre app at best, especially if you’re unwilling to pay for premium features (like me).

The absolute BEST!

I have had sleep issues for YEARS! I have tried just about every known recommendation that I could try; Melatonin, Benadryl, Ambien (which was very dangerous for me), and even Xanax & Klonopin and had no improvement. I tried doctor’s other techniques to no avail. And I tried ShutEye, and I have found what I call my “Miracle”. I actually almost cried when the statistical analysis just told me “You fell asleep really fast”. ShutEye is the absolute BEST! It is worth every penny & more. Please take it from a former chronic insomniac who has probably spent several hundreds of dollars in hopeless remedies and gimmicks, and lost years of my life missing out due to lack of sleep. ShutEye IS GIVING ME MY LIFE BACK. I LOVE IT!!!

It’s alright

I do love this and I can sleep better, but I am really upset that I have to pay to listen to my recordings! I would love if the developers added an option where we could watch an ad to get the recording. I would totally do this. I speak for everyone when we say at least let us listen to our recordings! Maybe every night you sleep you get “tokens” and then you spend those “tokens” to listen to your recordings? ShutEye is amazing and I love it, but the main reason I downloaded it was to listen to my recordings. Please consider changing the pay option for recordings. Thank you if you respond or listen. When this happens you WILL get my five star review.

Edit: I got a notification that you guys replied but I don’t see it. Please improve the service. :(

Not impressed

I’m really not impressed with ShutEye. To start off with, I always play rain/storm sounds while I sleep. The first night I turned on ShutEye, it was fairly decent. I have a bull dog and he snores louder than a grown man, which ShutEye recorded as me, but I expected that. On the second night, I hit the button to start recording and laid my phone down on my nightstand. Well, the pop up for rating ShutEye I guess came up after I started. So nothing was recorded that night…. Then, the last two nights, I suppose it’s the sounds of the rain or thunder that are throwing off ShutEye because it’s saying I got very minimal sleep. I would think that it could tell the difference between me actually being the one making noises all night and the sleep music, especially considering ShutEye has sleep music as well. I really wanted to love it. Wish it could pick up just a little more accurately.

By

Almost perfect, but…

I fell asleep pretty much instantly with the light on and the computer still being used. Also I fell asleep waaay before the time I usually fall asleep (I usually fall asleep at midnight on weekdays and 1:00 - 3:00 on weekends). I did sleep past the alarm but that is mostly my fault. I rested very well my first night using it and it did record the noises I made during the night. So, you may be wondering, why did you give it four stars if you loved it? Well, it was completely vertical. When I tried to rate my sleep, I was asked between horrible and mediocre. I tried swiping (I’m using an iPad, btw), but nothing happened. I rated mediocre, of course, as it was the best rating I could choose between. So, that is my review of this app. Pretty much amazing app. Four stars out of five.

By

Pretty good

I am amazed by the apps ability to do exactly what it says it can. I’m in the middle of my free trial but almost certain I will purchase a yearly subscription.

The reason I gave only 4 stars is because the user interface is not the best, and in my short time has had a couple of bugs. If you say you want to start a sleep tracking accidentally, it doesn’t give you an option to cancel so you have to force close ShutEye and open again. It also got stuck on the weather forecast for me when opening once. I don’t need a weather update when I open a sleep app. I have a weather app or Alexa for that. I think it’s neat it tacks the weather with your sleep to help provide answers to troublesome sleep but that is all I need it for.

Wish I could get my money back!

Going to beg Apple to refund me as ShutEye doesn’t work right. I hate that it doesn’t have AutoSleep but when I did the way you have to start ShutEye like I’m back in the first iPhone days. The database is wrong or it doesn’t even record anything. So I guess I’m dead or ShutEye just has bugs. I use another sleep app called Pillow and when I check that app for the same night it shows me all the correct info and I didn’t even have to tell ShutEye that I’m going to sleep. For one week I compared the two b apps and 2 out of 7 days it showed me some data but was still not correct and pillow was 6 out of 7. The one day pillow showed that I slept for 6 hours when I slept for 9 hours. So it was a little off but that same day ShutEye said I only was asleep for 30 mins. lol ok Apple I hope that since you have a trillion dollars give me a refund ShutEye is kinda of ripoff.

Could use some tweaking

Used this for 12 days now and I was able to catch some supernatural activity on the mic several times. But since it only records like 20 to 30 seconds of audio at a time, I wasn’t able to listen to the full on screaming of my neighbor yelling about how he saw something floating above him and then gasping something about $140 or maybe it was 140 ducks? But I would appreciate if it recorded the entirety of a single noise instead of cutting it off so i could find out what my neighbor actually saw. Other then that, it’s fine. It works as intended and I’m fine with that.

Seems suspicious

I suffer from insomnia so I wanted to find a way to better track my sleep habits. Unfortunately though ShutEye want you toTo commit to paying a entire year before even trying ShutEye . The seven day free trial and should be available on the monthly option as well. If I’m going to try some thing I should still be given my payment options. People are less likely to try ShutEye if they fear that they will be charge $60 if they forget to cancel because they didn’t like ShutEye . I believe this is part of the companies plan. Some people will try ShutEye and be fine with paying the yearly price. Others howeverMay not like ShutEye but forget that they had the subscription and end up being charge $60 for the year when they meant to cancel instead. Seven day free trial shouldn’t come with so much of a risk. So it should be available for the monthly price as well

Good but bad

I love ShutEye I really do but I want to know what I do in my sleep without all the extra vip stuff. I got ShutEye so I know what I do in my sleep. And theirs no way to save those sounds so I can hear it. I’m really bummed that I can’t know what I did in my sleep.

I also realized that it did not get the correct sleep timing

It said I fell asleep at 11:17 when that’s when I sniffed from allergies

Also ask me for any personal information so that’s a plus

But back to the stuff that bugs me.

I am I sleep lover but have trouble sleeping I go to school at 7:45 and am a 4 grader so I like to sleep when I can the alarm is helping me but also it goes off to early. I had to reset it because I was wide awake when it went off!!

I know y’all are small but y’all made it on tik tok!!!!!

Congrats for that!!!!

But my mom won’t spent money just so me my brother and sister can get a good nights rest

Back to what I was saying I don’t love the fact that you have to pay to hear yourself because on your little tik Tok campaign it didn’t say anything about money. I just want to know what I slept like 😭

Not for couples

I’ve used ShutEye for about a week. I didn’t purchase it, so I didn’t try all the premium features, but it cannot differentiate between my husband and I, so it doesn’t actually give me accurate sleep information. It always assumes because my husband gets up 2 hours earlier than I do that I stopped sleeping at that point. My husband mentioned getting up at 3am once and sure enough it was noted. According to ShutEye I’ve not slept more than 4 hours a night since I downloaded it. And while I know my sleep isn’t great I’m pretty sure the one night I went to bed early, slept great, and actually got to sleep in the next morning that I slept more than 4 hours. Oh and a few nights it has randomly quit sometime during the night so nothing got recorded and the alarm didn’t go off.

Bit Disappointed

I like how ShutEye can detect when you fall asleep and wake up. It’s a good app to get when your main goal is tracking your sleep. However, if you’re getting ShutEye to hear yourself talking or snoring, or whatever you do in you sleep please note that it cost money. It may be just me but I really wish ShutEye wasn’t as expensive, as I was very excited to hear the recordings of my sleep last night and instead was taken to an subscription add. I can understand where they come from and why they make it cost. If this is the case I don’t understand the point of saying you can click on something and use it when really you have to buy it.

Great app but...

Been using ShutEye for about a month now and recordings work just fine for me! Nature sounds are quite helpful to get you to sleep a bit faster. So far so good. I have notice a problem though. It’s been recording my sleep just fine lately. But say you were to wake up early then the alarm on there you have set to wake you up. As soon as I hit the wake up button before the alarm if I’m up early from it. It says error and nothing was recorded at all. Even when I do hit recording option and it shows that it is recording it. Before bed. I Have notice it does that every time you hit the wake up button early from the alarm you set it at.

I think my tracker is recording my shitzu snoring—sometimes listing it as sleep apnea which is a concern so I would really like to find out. Is the app actually able to tell the difference between me and my dog?

NOT AT ALL ACCURATE & TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE . Been trying to get my refund for months & the stupid instructions they emailed me to do so, do not work.

Two problems. First problem. It says I’m awake for an hour during the night and I’m not. This happens frequently. Also my sleep tracker won’t let me turn on the snore score sounds . It seems frozen.

Slept all night and it said i slept 40 min. I was excited to see the score and it didnt catch ne sleeping.

Judith Hirschbeck   1 year ago

My app is not working properly. It does not go through all the parts like noise level and who else sleeps about the same time as me or if I’m having periods of apnea. It offers these as free gifts but when I click on them is says I’m already subscribed.
