I was enjoying my this app but the last two app updates have made the barely functional accessibility for screen reader users now completely disfunctional. Voiceover doesn't read most of UPRIGHT elements, gets stuck in the calendar, and only one of the tab buttons is labeled. It's completely unusable. A lot of people with vision impairments need products like the this app, but UPRIGHT is one of the worst I've ever encountered as a screen reader user. To top it off, there's no dark mode and UPRIGHT doesn't respond to smart invert so it is visually agonizing for anyone who is light sensitive. this app was a good idea and was great, but thanks to the required app it is $60 completely wasted for me that I'll never get back and there are no other products like it so, as is often common, the people who need something like this the most don't have access to it due to a dev team that isn't designing with their own target audience in mind.
UPRIGHT won’t run in the background anymore (yes, I made sure background app refresh was enabled), and thus it won’t buzz me after being out of posture for 60 sec. I can observe UPRIGHT work once I open it and then will go live, but you have to have UPRIGHT always on.
Also, support is trash. I specifically defined the problem only to get an email parroting the same the information I already gave… I said, “… so it no longer buzzes me” and support replied “is it still vibrating when you slouch?” Yes, that’s exactly what I already said!!
No I’m not responding to you and wasting my time. Nor am I giving you my actual email so you can mine my data.
What is happening? I finally figured out how to advance and go back in the startup screens but cannot progress beyond that. When I log out and log back in 1/3 of the time UPRIGHT completely crashes. Cannot even get to the stage to connect my device. The old app works fine. I reached out via chat and the representative clearly does not know how to use UPRIGHT and instead of giving the reasonable advice to go back to the old app, he said to use it without an app. First off, I did not pay this much not to be able to track or interact via my phone. Secondly, train your representatives how to use UPRIGHT . Come on.
Totally unethical move towards kickstart supporters from the first this app model to stop giving support for the first model to “reduce costs” when there have been no changes what so ever in the application… They stopped supporting the this app go 1 only to make more profit on the second one that is basically the same device. I feel scammed and ashamed of trusting this company, not because of the monetary loss, but because of the trust i had on them, 5 years ago everything looked so genuine with the first product… greedy people with no ethics or morals what a shame… sorry for the broken English it is not my first language.
The new version might have prettier UX but the functionality is less reliable and less performant. It disconnects from the sensor more, takes longer to locate the sensor, and doesn’t provide any useful new features. Never make network calls on your UI thread, nerds. Blocking interactivity because you’re reading data over a sloppy Bluetooth connection is bad design. At least show a progress indicator? Or maybe do that incrementally on a background thread all the time so I don’t have to watch you do it? Don’t get me started about the poor design of the sensor flash UX. A long time of staring at 0% wondering if it’s hung or just constipated…
My wife had the original version one device in a drawer and never used it but her back pain was getting worse so we decided to give it a try. I went online to download the required app and found out UPRIGHT . Only supports version two of device there for making the older version with us. What a waste of money and lack of support from the developer. I guess we get to throw the device away now since there’s no app to support it.
Bottom line – over promised, under delivered. Cannot recommend the device or UPRIGHT . I hope I’m soon able to update my review to say they finally made it right – still waiting.
I got one of these devices in Spring 2022. It worked great for a couple of months, then it failed. After a few exchanges with customer service, they sent a replacement. Again, it worked great for a month or two, then failed.
In late Sep 2022 I sent a message to Ethan at customer care stating the device failed. I first got a link suggesting that I use the device without UPRIGHT . That’s like suggesting I use a TV without a picture. I requested to either replace the device or send me a refund. Several exchanges later in late Oct 2022, I was told by Ethan “our team is still looking into this issue”. The only response I’ve received since was an automated link to “articles that might help”.
Good device when it works – problem is it quits working. Still waiting on a resolution of a problem initiated well within the warranty period.
Was introduced to this product/app from a customer. She gave me her sensor and helped me create the account and set it up. Worked great for about the first two days. Then it started to misbehave. Lots of false readings or failing to alert when it should. I could set the sensor on the counter and it would randomly alert on and off all night long. App is buggy. Customer support told me to completely shut down the sensor then remove and reinstall UPRIGHT . App kept freezing trying to log back in. Would even freeze trying to create a new account. NOT READY for prime time with buggy software. Cannot tell the difference between bad posture and leaning over. So lots of annoying alerts that will result in you leaving your investment on the counter.
I paid way too much for a delayed delivery that took several weeks, and an app that doesn’t work. I sent in a support ticket and hope to hear back and my experience gets better from here.
Update: I deleted and reinstalled several times and it finally got through the intro screen this morning. UPRIGHT itself seems to work well once it’s working.
The product does not sync accurately with UPRIGHT . If I’m away from my phone, it never updates my progress. Also, I see the original this app is available for Apple Watch and the Apple health app, but not the go 2. I’ll be looking forward to the watch app and a fix for syncing everything. If It’s connected to the Apple Watch, I don’t need my phone on me and it should log all the data.
The this app is easy to set up and use and it’s very effective! However, it can be annoying in the beginning, because one is not used to sitting or standing up straight. Eventually, I’m sure it won’t vibrate much, as I know I did not overextend my back when setting it up and it’s easy to correct my posture with it. A really great invention! :-)
I really like my this app GO! I’m using it to alleviate pain from a shoulder injury as well as remind me to maintain good posture while sitting in front of the computer. I use the necklace which makes it easy to put on/take off and doesn’t require any adhesive.
I only wish this updated app didn’t require me to watch the intro video again. Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t see any option for “I already have an this app Go”.
I love this little devise! I use it in a pretty unique way. As an equestrian, I’m constantly working on my posture and position in the saddle. I pop this into the lining of my helmet, set the posture with my phone, and ride! Whenever I look down or my position goes to h***, it vibrates to warn me. I’ve used it in lessons, clinics, even shows.
UprightGo-I think if you researched a bit, and made a few modifications, you’d find an entire new market!
I have struggled with a lot of back issues over the past 10yrs. 2 failed back surgeries, some bulging discs and a car accident has created a monster. One of the problems that people have been telling me for years is I have bad posture. Finding this little device has helped me to stand and sit with better posture but has also been a factor in getting the muscles in my torso to take some of the stress off of my back. So you could say that I am a fan.
I’ve had the device and iOS app for over two year now. I really enjoy the posture vibrations as a reminder. There is a lot of flexibility with how to use this product. The updating of the device is also fantastic. I just hold my phone nearby (sometimes on my shoulder just to be safe ;)) and it updates. The one time where I had a problem with the firmware update, the support chat was very helpful.
On top of these things I also love that they don’t track everything under the sun to use their app. It bothers me with other apps but they just use the minimum.
We’ve had a great experience so far. UPRIGHT paired really quickly and it’s been easy to use. We weren’t huge fans of sticking something on our back so we got the necklace that goes along with it. Also, be careful when training the device because you’ll be self conscious of wearing it at first and you’ll likely be sitting/standing super straight. That’s the goal of course, but it can be a bit uncomfortable getting used to being that straight for the first week or two.
Easy to set up and works well as a reminder to straighten up. I just got mine and I and I wear it all day because I’ve always wanted to improve posture but have never been successful. I think this is going to work. Little vibration when you slouch isn’t bothersome but enough to remind to straighten up. I think it’s great
Overall I feel better and my lower back pain is gone. I love how easy it is to put on and the battery life is great for those like me who forget to charge devices. The vibration feedback helps me be more aware of my posture in the moment. Affordable and easy to use.
It’s been sitting in the box for three years! I’ve been having some upper extremity issues and I think that this is going to really help me. I can already see a change. Crossing my fingers.
I have struggled with bad posture for 20 years. I have bought every back brace available which always helps when it’s on but also was very uncomfortable. this app is amazing. It makes me correct my posture on my own by sending a gentle vibration alert. I’ve already noticed a difference within the first week. This device is amazing.
