Covid lead to a marvelous discovery!!

What should have been a 1 week stay in Montana turned into 3 months in the early Spring of 2020. Having long, leisurely days with no usual obligations on my agenda I was able to turn my attention to my lifelong love of working in clay. How I found this app can only be luck. After having spent over 40 years in and around a number of wonderful community studios and schools, I decided that being 100% a home studio potter was what I needed to do. Becoming acquainted with Jess and Kevin was a true blessing. Totally welcoming, approachable and supportive pair offer a safe place to land and grow your craft. All levels are partnering here. We all share and learn together. You can enjoy projects new and old, techniques familiar or challenging or learn a better way to approach what you thought you had perfected. I have learned so much, made new friends and become more comfortable in the clay crafter community . I have found new clay bodies I love, invested in more equipment ( with this app guidance) found a fellow potter to share my kiln and , in general, am just a better , happier potter.

From beginning to end

I have been doing clay for about 3 years now! WOW how time flew by! I started right before Covid and the 1st ClayShareCon. During the past few months I took a break because of some work I’m involved in. BUT when I stopped long enough to watch some videos again and my heart was once again delighted! Project planning began immediately and I made 2 earring stands the very next day. Next up - a Fairy House for my 2 year old Granddaughter and creating something I can do Peacock glazing on!! Oh yea! Best part is, I know I can complete these tasks with the help of Jess’ videos. Never would I have even attempted such a task before! Thank you this app!

Finding my way with clay

I have been watching a lot. I love working with Clay and I’ve been learning a lot from the show about about Clay and how to work with that and I think it’s really been lo love watching the this app haven’t been watching so much lately. This summer has taken me back to other things, but I will resume my watching as soon as I can, but I do love watching ithelping me and I like that I can watch it on my phone and I don’t have to leave my house and it’s slow enough that I can understand it and watch it so thank you very much been watching

Pottery Education in the 21st Century

Jessica Putnam Phillips is the primary instructor for the this app app, bringing the ancient art of pottery making into the 21st century. The new this app app allows any user to see the inventory of hundreds of classes on wheel pottery, handbuilt pottery, glazing and more. Any user can take a limited number of classes for free or then decide to pay a $9.99 monthly fee to gain unlimited access to watch the videos, download the videos and download required templates. The membership also gives members access to a private Facebook group that feels like a family - a rare item in this technology age.

Want to learn about creating beautiful pottery? or get some new ideas?

Then this is an excellent site! Many, many classes from which to choose, whether wheel-thrown or hand- built. Instructions delivered by a vivacious, knowlegable and very experienced potter, Jessica- who understands that there are different levels of experience coming to the site and never talks down or over anyone’s level. She understands and appeals to all- no question is silly or frivolous.
There are hundreds of projects to try- so I would highly recommend- Jessica the potter, along with her tech- saavy husband Kevin are offering a wonderful way to experience the building of beautiful ceramic pieces.

Hooray for ClayShare

Jessica and Kevin have built a supportive community of artists willing to share their artistic gifts and I really appreciate it. I feel welcome and respected in the this app social network. Everyone is encouraging to each other. The this app logo: Learn, Make, Share is accurate. Jess and Kevin have made hours and hours of in depth pottery instruction available, much of it free. I have learned so much from this app I feel my own understanding of clay and how to work with it has grown immensely. Thank you Jessica and Kevin for your commitment to create and maintain a pottery hub for learning, interaction with other potters and fun. You have enriched my life.

Melissa’s review

I’m new to pottery and was searching everywhere for pottery information and how to classes. I so glad I found this app. I’ve learned so much from the live and recorded classes. I look forward to each class! I like the list of materials needed for each class and the breakdown of each step in creating pottery. I’m glad I became a prime member. I love getting discounts on materials from this app sponsors and on rolling pins and templates. I’m more motivated in creating pottery and using various glazing processes after each class I view. My pottery has improved based on the materials offered on this site.

Game Changer for me!

I took a class at a local clay guild which ended being a super discouraging experience. I didn’t want to give up and I found this app and it changed everything for me. The classes are excellent and you can watch them over and over again. jess is so kind and encouraging and really gave me the confidence to keep going. You really feel like you were part of a Clay community. There is so much great content and learning opportunities to take advantage of on this app. I highly recommended ClayShare to anyone. I would not be the ceramic artist I am today without the skills I learned from these classes.

Great learning platform for potters

What can I say about this app, it’s awesome! I have learned so much from Jessica and all that this app has to offer. I discovered this app when I joined the Instagram family and during this COVID 19 shelter in place craziness. My studio closed. I’m a newbie potter, and it has become my passion and not having the studio to go to was hard. I didn’t do a lot of hand building, prior, I’m a wheel addict 😁 I watched every day of this app Con and I’ve been hooked ever since! Now I can say I can handle build, mugs, planters, plates, etc, so many things! Being able to still play with clay at home and stay creative has kept me sane during this COVID crisis! Thanks so much Jessica and this app! 🙏💖

Love the well made videos and the interactive clay experience

I learn so much from the well made instructional videos. Jessica has a way of explaining things to make everything seem easy. There are so many quality videos on every facet of clay that you learn a well rounded clay practice. Jessica does a live special project every week with an opportunity to ask questions. Along with the many videos, this app also has a FB site where you can connect with other potters to ask questions and show your projects. Jessica and her team follow this page and answer questions when they find it appropriate. this app is a must if you are interested in clay projects and want to connect with other potters.

ClayShare is motivating!

There are so many things about this app that I love. *Jess and Kevin are approachable-they feel like friends to all of us in their large family of members. They answer questions promptly over social media or email. They seem to incorporate their business into family life-maybe because they work all the time so we see them somewhere almost every day. I know they are trying for more balance to avoid total burnout. Please take time off-we get it. *There are classes archived for absolutely any question or topic I might have. *Jess teaches on a level that everybody can understand but does not talk down to anyone. Longtime experienced potters can also learn from her. *Monday Morning this app is a great way to start the week and the weekly Wednesday classes are very informative. *The additional time they give to us, like ClayCon or bead week are above and beyond. *I am more motivated by this online membership than my studio classes that I have been enrolled in for years. Thanks!!!

A must-have for potters of any skill level

Finally! A fabulous pottery app full of amazing classes, tips and techniques! this app was already a top notch website and now having an accompanying app... well I couldn’t be more thrilled! I love the ease of quickly finding a class I’m looking for or just browsing around to discover things I hadn’t seen yet. Being able to add classes to My List to save to watch later is a big one for me. So in love! Great UI means it’s extremely intuitive and easy to navigate, learn from and get excited about! Not to mention that Jess is a natural in front of the camera and makes learning new things super fun! Whether you are a beginner or an expert, there are things to learn and have fun with on ClayShare! Total game changer!

ClayShare is a must have for Ceramic fans!

I have been a premium member of this app for almost six years and I find that it just keeps getting better. I turn to this app for inspiration and education. Jessica is brilliant at making sometimes complicated processes simple and repeatable. She is upbeat and funny. Jessica and Kevin, her husband are a dynamic team to make this app constantly better. Jessica encourages the members to interact as a community and I am enjoying the family feeling. I love participating in the pottery exchanges put on by this app family members! Also how members cheer each other on by giving tips and encouragement to each other. Looking forward to more workshops and classes. So worth every penny I have invested in my membership. Thank you this app for being wonderful!!

Always there to answer questions!

this app is a wonderful pottery site to learn both handbuilding and throwing. One of my favorite things about this app is Jessica! She will show you how to make something either handbuilt or thrown and goes directly thru it all and then shows you how she glazes the item! Then in the next week or 2 you will see it coming out of the kiln. So many times watching others they show you how to make it,with NO helpful comments and you never see the item finished! I have never belonged to a group of people like those on this app ,who will gladly answer all questions and be so friendly. Would highly recommend this app with Jessica and can’t forget Kevin !! I would gladly recommend this app to all my friends and Ihave! I really feel like I belong!

Great place to learn and grow

I truly appreciate the positive environment offered at this app. They do a great job of providing an inclusive environment to foster your growth at any level. For example, I’d consider myself to be an intermediate to advanced wheel thrower, but I’ve built some pretty amazing hand building skills from watching Jess’ videos. My style is a lot different from a lot of the things made here, but that doesn’t matter. What I want are the fundamental skills - then I can apply them to the work I’m doing. This has opened up worlds for me that I had never considered I could be good at. AND it has given me an amazing group of vendors to buy from that I would not have uncovered on my own. It’s truly shaped the course of my work. Thanks this app, for a safe and positive space to learn and grow!

ClayShare is fabulous!

Jessica is one of my main inspirations and influential artists in my growth in Pottery. I also love that she and Kevin are able to do this as a team. I learned so much from the videos. Keep up the wonderful content and the great collaboration with each other as well as other potters like Adam Field,Kevin Kowalski, and more! I really like being introduced to the companies like ClayScapes, Amaco, Mud Tools, and all the other companies that make potters lives so fun! I will forever be thankful for the Periscope platform and Potters of Periscope group for opening my world to beautiful art and continuing camaraderie amongst us all. I especially love seeing where all of our Potters’ of Periscope journeys continue moving forward today!! Thank you for creating this app along your journey Jessica! It touches so many creatively, yes but on a deeper, more soulful level! Namaste! Janice McCravey J McClay Creations

Clayshare is wonderful!

Making pottery has been so healing after coping with some big unexpected life changes this past year. I have returned to pottery after taking a long break from it after graduating college 20 years ago. Jess and this app team (Kevin) have really helped catch me up to speed on all the latest things in the pottery world since I left it so many years ago, including commercial glazes, underglaze transfers, texture options, pottery forms, kilns, wheels, etc. Not only have I learned so much from this app, but as a bonus, I have fallen in love with hand building pottery. Still love throwing as well. Jess and Kevin are both generous-hearted people. Jess makes herself available to help you problem solve issues you may be having and answer your questions. Members ask questions I don’t even think to ask, which is incredibly helpful. I’m learning so much and loving the process. Thank you this app!

Susan Clark’s Feat of Clay

I subscribed to your show several months ago and have throughly enjoyed it. I usually watch it on the replay and haven’t sent questions.
I have been doing clay for about 50 years!!! Thst does tell you I am not young!!
There is always more to learn, my art degree did not include pottery so I had to learn on my own with many mistakes but also lots of experimenting!!
I started out with handmade angels which I have no idea how many have flown away! It was so much fun. I live in a small town in MS so there were no clay people. I never learned to throw. My son is an excellent clay person and has offered to teach me, but my brain is too full for more and I don’t want to tempt my skill with more task!!
I have tried many things in clay , some I have shared. I cut stencils and make prints on clay then fired them to about a cone 2 and let people paint them in acrylics. That process saves me another firing and they leave with a piece of art.
I have done this several time with special needs.
I do mostly want to say how much your show and your delightful presentation has made my clay world better , I really want to make a rain stick. I have 4 children and 3 are artists so I live in the world of imagination! Thanks for adding joy to thst world and many prayers for healing.
My husband has Parkinson so I also live in a world of physical needs.
Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge😁❤️

A favorite app for me.

Hi there. I have a lot of love and respect for you two. I’ve had medical issues starting about two years ago that got progressively worse leading me to be basically bed ridden over the last two months of what was an unknown cause at the time. After passing all tests at ER at least three times, I went back with husband demanding a brain scan. Thank God. There was a large brain tumor taking up the space in my right frontal lobe, actually pushed that part of the brain out of its location and caused a mid line shift. Two days later, Nov 1, 2021, I was in surgery and met the head of neurological department at Ochsner hospital. I was blessed that he was on my case and the tumor benign. Ive been totally unable to do pottery. Decision making ability was not accessible. But I felt good knowing I had you as my ace when I returned. You’re my fav. This is getting long. I don’t share this with anyone. Happy to be back on board. Much love and respect, Robbie Lynn.

The absolute BEST clay community!

Jessica Putnam-Phillips and Kevin Phillips have created the most educational clay school and community there is out there! They are so down to earth and generous with their knowledge, kindness, and time.

If you are a beginner or a seasoned potter, you will not regret becoming a this app member. There are classes for everyone.
In addition to Jessica’s teaching style, which is so much better than any other teacher or professor I’ve ever had, you get the experience of all the members, too! Ask a question and the members respond with their knowledge, too. It’s an international community of clay artists that love learning and sharing with kindness.
