Geneva literally copied the discord ui, and many of its features, not even trying to hide it. Geneva’s response to that previously was that discord is made for gaming, and Geneva is made for communities, while if you go to discord’s app store page, it clearly has a huge image of something along the lines of “made for communities, and friends.” If you want an app that has these features, just use discord instead, its a cleaned up and perfected version of this app.

Hello, I wasn’t sure who to submit this complaint to.

I just started using Geneva this week and was directly messaged being told I was excluded from joining one of the “homes” because of my age.

It’s one of the main homes on the page that is highlighted.

And nowhere does it say only certain age groups can join and it doesn’t sit right with me to have a platform on Geneva that says they are about uniting voices and I’m being brushed off and told to follow them on Instagram even though I cannot join their group.

Super ageist. Happy to be a millennial.

I’ve been enjoying using Geneva for some local groups but the new navigation redesign is awful. It’s harder to get around now that you can’t quickly tap between rooms all on one screen. I don’t understand who needs or wants to see all the media at the top of a group. It’s unappealing and makes me want to not use Geneva because it’s less intuitive.

We got Geneva last year and up until now it has been amazing. However, recently we have been unable to rsvp to events. We hit “going” or “not going” and then it doesn’t show that we’ve selected any option. We’ve become reliant on this feature for knowing how many people can go, so this has been frustrating. We’re hoping that it’ll fix with an update soon, but if it doesn’t we are switching to a different app

I don't know why this app changed their design, but the new format is incredibly tedious and difficult to use compared to the previous version. The ease of switching between rooms and group has vanished and instead is a cumbersome process, with lots of dead space, and an increased difficulty to keep up with notifications, especially when in multiple rooms with many rooms each. Why the media gallery is such a highlight is beyond me and makes the whole experience in Geneva even more annoying. Bring back the old format

Geneva was nothing special, but their recent updates are ridiculous. Why do you now need access to my location AND contacts in order for me to log in to an account I’ve been using for months?

I’d previously been using this app for collaborative work. I’m not interested in sharing my location with everyone in my work groups, nor am I interested in using it for my personal social life. It was a business tool. This new branding has completely altered the purpose of Geneva and screwed over current users who don’t want to share their data. Very frustrating.

I am very disappointed by this. I understand the “invite only” is most likely due to safety precautions but that makes Geneva not inclusive. Geneva was designed for people who want to put themselves out there to meet new people just to be rejected because they weren’t invited to join. Well what about those of us who are wanting to use Geneva because we don’t know anyone? Where in the world would we get an invite in that case? We wouldn’t. By Geneva being invite only you aren’t allowing those of us who don’t know anyone yet or have connections to meet people. If anyone else downloads Geneva and faces these same issues please don’t worry, Bumble BFF is a great way to meet people! And even better, you don’t need an invite!

Geneva’s interface is fair to say the least. Too many options per chat and it gets messy. Besides that, the ability to send photos never seems to work, as well as basic messages. I 70% of the time get a “Message failed to send”.
If Geneva could perform the way its intended to perform, it’d be a 5 star!

Just downloaded today, and the groups that I have requested to join keep disappearing from my direct message feed. Not sure why, app seems like it has a lot of potential but it’s really buggy. Also, I’ll see that someone has invited me to groups, but there’s no way to “accept” the invite.

I’ve been using this app for a while to use with clients in my group programs, and for that, I love it.

However, the initial appeal of this app for me was the vast array of different groups I could find. There were sooo many options! Now when I go to the discovery page it's showing me groups in my area (i absolutely do not care about those, fyi) and it’s super difficult to just explore all kinds of groups from anywhere in the world. I loved that aspect because it built incredible community. I’m super bummed, why did you take that away??

I love the idea of Geneva. I feel like its harder to meet new people in NYC. But Geneva has many downfalls. For example, anyone can sign up you never know if it’s a fake page or not. People can stand you up & you’ll just be there. I believe they should work on verifying accounts and put in a system showing who really meets up and doesn’t. I only had to app for 2 weeks and got stood up twice. I don’t mind if someone cancels but saying nothing at all is dangerous especially if I’m traveling to meet up or going to an event. Lastly, I have been able to meet cool girls and make friends. Just don’t download Geneva with expectations. You’ll probably eventually delete it or maybe make friends. 50/50.

Geneva is awesome and has a lot of great features for chats/rooms. The only downside so far is loading chats can be glitchy and sometimes don’t update with the notifications. You will scroll to find the most recent chat history but it wont exist unless you exit and come back.

I was in a lot of group chats and the update kicked me out of all of them. What’s the deal? I now have to painstakingly go back and re-ask for invites to my previous groups. Extremely annoying.

Love Geneva - accept that you can’t put the calendar into a monthly view! Also, when in the list for the calendar it gives, earlier events in the same day show up after later events. Everything else on Geneva is amazing!! I would highly recommend it.

Geneva is great but this new update is not good. It’s not as user friendly as developers are making it seem. Makes it more cluttered then it needs to be. Old design was much better and user friendly.

i think the over all app concept and functionality is really good, however i blocked someone and noticed that I still saw her messages and she could reply to me?? I read the website and it said blocking only blocks them from dms. I block people with the intention of never having to see them or their messages. Just a little bit upsetting because i try to block people instead of getting irritated and eventually blowing up at them.

I like Geneva so far. Many interesting groups in my city. However, I think threaded replies could be implemented better. If the chat is very active, it’s hard to keep up on different comments. I also would prefer an age verification option for safety. I also would like to have notifications built into Geneva . It’s hard to know what chats are being active once inside Geneva . Also being able to wear locations instead of near you & everywhere. But nice so far!

I love Geneva first and foremost, but it needs a little work, mostly regarding bugs.

I’d suggest a few key things:

Primarily: the chats often glitch on IOS where you have to close and reopen Geneva to see what you’ve sent or new chats. Very frustrating

Secondarily: the side panel is a bit visually over stimulating. I preferred the visual conciseness of slack, perhaps you make it so that you have to swipe twice to see the main menu, which would give more room for the channel/side panel, does that make sense?

Thirdly: this is small, but the capacity to change the color scheme on individuals phones, I’d like the freedom to choose which colors I see, as the color that the admin chooses might be distracting or visually displeasing.

Lastly: the capacity to add new emojis such as in Slack, as well as, very importantly, a reactions tab, reactions don’t show up in activity like they do on slack. Very helpful, as they can communicate a lot without needing to actually reply/clutter threads, and without a place to See all the new reactions to my comments, I might miss important ones

Overall, I appreciate Geneva and look forward to its further development

I love how Geneva connects you with people . I’m new to the city so it’s helped me get out . I would suggest an update where you have a notifications tab . When I comment on someone’s post , I lose it with all the other comments people are leaving in the rooms ( in my Notification Center on my phone ) . So I always miss it .

Secondly !! It’s confusing on my Notification Center with all the people commenting in different rooms , I know you can see the top room name however maybe we should be able to mute some rooms we want to be in but not care really about who’s commenting .

Thirdly , I join alot of rooms. The new update for the rooms makes it overwhelming for me to stare at . I also liked how I could still see the rooms , even though the chats were open. I don’t like how it’s all separated . Anyways thank you!!

Joined a group chat or “home” in a new city and was able to join multiple different events and meet a bunch of new people. There are a lot of new homes popping up all over! Hope this is the future of making friends online :)

I’m not sure if it asked for my ID at the beginning of opening Geneva . But I think it would smart for y’all to ask for ID verification, just for the safety of others. Since it is an app used to meet up with quite a number of people. Other than that the basic needs of Geneva is cool!

I was literally about to design and build pretty much what this app is before stumbling across it on Product Hunt. It’s very well designed to what I envisioned. I think this is going to be a huge company in a short while.

Some tips & requests:

1) Never go woke, ever. No politics!
2) Focus on free speech (the legal definition)
3) Implement passwords with 2-FA security
4) Darkmode for the web version
5) APIs / web services
6) Embed codes for live broadcasts
7) Dashboard for public broadcasts like Periscope used to have along with a geo map.

Overall, really great job 👏.

Have been using this for a group that I organize and it’s been very nice — a good alternative to slack I think and feels less cluttered and confusing with a lot of novel and useful tools. Cool that you can use on the desktop as well as on your phone. New features still being added, which is exciting.

I’m using Geneva to communicate with other women that using SoFi bank. I love that we get to network through this awesome app. We get to share our finance stories but most of all I love to see that I’m not the only that’s not good with money.

Geneva is very much what you’re looking for as a social creature living in 2024. The design is so beautiful and thoughtfully made! Easy to use and instant way to meet some cool people. Also cmon ppl you gotta stop giving apps bad reviews because of glitch/bug or desired feature that could probably be fixed or added if you bring it up to them. They have a section for feedback in the settings area, be mean there (joke, spread love). But seriously wonderful app, that will only get better with time!

I was looking to build some sort of support group and I saw an ad for Geneva. So far it has been exactly what I wanted and more! We have a great private forum that can be customized to our groups needs. Thank you so much for creating Geneva! I have been able to connect with people from all over the world with similar experiences. My only request would be for some way for groups to be discoverable if you want them to. Like maybe a section where you can look at groups accepting new members and request to join.
