My first review was ages ago, and issues remain over a year later. Having the password expire due to inactivity is an asinine way to deal with security — the worst thing for password security is making people constantly change the password, making them more likely to forget it and just pick something stupid and easy in frustration. BarnesNoble ’s password reset buttons do absolutely nothing, neither the option to send an email nor to answer a security question. The email never comes and putting in the correct answer does nothing. So resetting requires going to the website, and while the website accepts long passwords, BarnesNoble has different standards than the website and will not accept a password longer than 15 characters. Why is it different from the website. Why accept the longer password on the website if BarnesNoble won’t. How is this basic thing still not working or consistent between different interfaces.

It still won’t let me log in and just sends me back to the login page. It’s not the password being wrong bc it works on the website fine. There’s no way to give feedback on BarnesNoble or ask for help when on the login screen, so I’m doing it here. Previously I had had an issue where B&N kept looping between asking me to confirm my email address and the link they sent going to an page saying it had expired, even when it had just happened seconds before, over and over. Lots of login issues all around.

BarnesNoble keeps logging me out and won’t allow me to log back in. My email and password are correct but when I select continue it just takes me back to the sign in/create account screen. Any time I try to get on BarnesNoble it is like this and I can’t make a purchase. It’s so frustrating. Just bring back the old app already.

You would think for such a large company, BarnesNoble would be better. At least it’s slightly less clunky with the new version, but I still can’t sign in, even with deleting and redownloading BarnesNoble . Since I can’t sign in, the books I save in my cart will at some random point completely disappear, so I’m not able to order them.

Constant glitches & bugs. When scrolling through a list, it will randomly glitch and send you to a random point pretty far up the list & if you try to keep scrolling it’ll just keep sending you to the same spot. It’ll log you out & refuse to let you log back in, every time you try it’ll load and then send you back to the sign in as member or guest screen. Very frustrating to use do not recommend, I’d rather just use the website on my browser even thought it’s less convenient.

I’ve never seen an app so horrid for a company so large. How has this been allowed to remain like this?

The developers have asked me to provide details, as, apparently they can’t determine this for themselves based on the other thousand negative reviews. BarnesNoble is illogically organized, inefficient, freezes constantly, erases carts randomly, is unbelievably slow, and does not seem to be created by someone who has ever read a book or been to a store, either online or in-person. I have known 7th graders that would do a better job on this. Is this enough information? What else do you need?

I’ve had a problem logging in…again. I think it’s insane that BarnesNoble logs me out then persists to not let me log in because it keeps going back to the sign in screen. I look at every review and see the same problems. I also see the responses which I’ve used to resolve my issues but none of them work. I’ve deleted BarnesNoble , restarted my phone, reinstalled BarnesNoble a couple of times, and even called but I’m still having these issues. I would recommend signing in on a website than BarnesNoble cause it’s completely useless and broken. Even though I’ve had this since October-November, this is the second time it happened and I’m surprised BarnesNoble isn’t fixed or updated to fix these kind of issues. The problem with that though is that even the updates mess it up, it really isn’t worth the time and it’s sad cause I love Barnes and Nobles but BarnesNoble is not it.

I downloaded the "new" app and one would think it would be new AND improved, but it's just the opposite. I have yet to be able to log in. I have been told that my password was incorrect, but when I attempted to update my password I was told no account existed with my email address. I tried to create a new account, but was then told that I couldn't do that because an account already existed with my email address. Yes, that's right...apparently I do AND do not have an account with my email address. Both can't be true. After several more attempts I was finally able to change my password using my email address. Problem solved, right? Wrong!! I attempted to log in several more times, and while I am no longer getting messages about a wrong password or my email address not being connected with an account, I am being sent to the main page over and over again to sign in again! I have yet been able to actually use BarnesNoble because it's a Catch 22 situation. Please, please, please fix this!!

I’m so confused about BarnesNoble. It never saves my log in - nor does it allow Face ID. Frustrating since the website does. Since the update I can’t even log in - it just keeps returning me to the log in screen.

Another annoyance is when you order a book for in store pick up the option to add a proxy (someone to pick up you order for you) is not obvious- you have to click edit order before you click buy to even see it as an option. If you miss this because you are in fact NOT Sherlock Holmes, then there is nothing you can do. There is no option to cancel or change the order. If you try to chat with customer service they will also tell you there is nothing they can do - because they don’t have an option to change it - and if you call the store to let them know someone else will pick the order up … you guessed it! There is nothing they can do. So hopefully you can order it twice - and hope they still have a copy of the book you want in store.

I’m not sure why it’s so hard to make a user friendly app - or to provide customer service that helps problem solve. Especially since you are raising membership from $25 to $40.

So I just signed up for B&N rewards, I did so in an actual location, it was a fairly easy process in store. I was told I can link my card to BarnesNoble and shop online, so what did I do ? Download BarnesNoble with excitement to link my rewards card and irresponsibly spend my money on books. BUTTT like anything in this world I ran into problems I could not log, after what felt like years but just an hour I finally was logged in and set to go ape wild with book purchases. I began to use the “wishlist” feature as I have tons and tons of photos of books I want in my photo album labeled “TBR”. It was fantastic until it wasn’t BarnesNoble began to slow and glitch. Although somewhat hesitant I continued on with searching book titles and adding it to my list. After maybe a half hour, if I am being gracious with the time, BarnesNoble stopped working completely. I give it a rest as I felt guilty making it work hard looking for books, today, a whole 24 hours later I am completely kicked out of BarnesNoble . Unable to link my rewards or do any book searches I am deleting this from my phone and NEVER downloading again. I should have read the reviews before downloading because this was truly disappointing.

love barnes and noble, but BarnesNoble is so terrible. i can’t take it anymore. as an avid consumer and rewards member, i use BarnesNoble a lot! …but its basically unusable. constant login issues, glitching, and it’s awfully slow. i cannot stand it

Every time I try to log in, it keeps saying “Your password has expired due to inactivity. Please reset your password.” When I reset my password and try to log in, it does the same thing. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling BarnesNoble and that did nothing. It’s getting frustrating.

Dear Barnes & Noble: your app is terrible. I just wasted a half hour trying to buy something and couldn’t even log in. If you hired a developer to write an app that allows your customers to buy things, then that was a poor decision, because I don’t think these guys know how to do that. They are costing you sales. In sum: complete failure.

I tried to purchase 2 books with a gift card and I had to put my email address + gift card and every kind of info many times and it still wouldn’t let me order it. I putted my $50 gift card in BarnesNoble and I can’t seem to buy anything with it I’m so frustrated!!

It will sign you out and you won’t be able to sign back in. I uninstalled BarnesNoble , turned my phone off, and then reinstalled it. Still can’t sign in.

Awful app. Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

From your nook app, get BarnesNoble to purchase. Get BarnesNoble, try purchasing ebook and get “ BarnesNoble does not support purchases”. So basically you have no app to purchase nook ebooks, other than web purchases. Get with the time. You want e-commerce, but don't have any app for that other than an actual NOOk. My Nook version is no longer supported, so what are the chances of me purchasing books without 1usable app from you. If I could give you No stars, yes less that 1 star I would.

BarnesNoble is beyond frustrating. It lags and glitches constantly to the point of trying to tap on something more than once to get it to work but right at the moment you tap again, it starts to load so then you end up clicking on something totally different. Every time I try to change a store location for pick up, it resets my cart and goes back to the original location. If I finally do get the pick up location to stick, when I try checking out it tells me one by one, each book is now not available to pick up at that location; which I know to be false because I can see on their website the books are in stock where I want to pick them up from.
BarnesNoble has potential but based on my experience, and reading reviews of others, BarnesNoble should not have been released yet. It needs a lot of work.

App was fine and working great when I first downloaded it not too long ago, but I guess it got updated recently and now BarnesNoble doesn’t even work. Nothing loads: the cafe, my order history, I tried redeeming a new gift card and the screen never loaded, couldn’t even check a gift card balance. Went to the help center and that didn’t help. The help center would direct me to the same page that said I had to sign in to check order history even if I didn’t click on wanting to check my order history in the help center. I hate having to login in every time I exit BarnesNoble . I’ll sign in on BarnesNoble , then get a text message and check that without closing the Barnes and noble app, and then go back to BarnesNoble within 30 seconds and I have to sign in again. Also my wishlists aren’t saved at all.

Since I returned from my trip I have not been able to login into my account via BarnesNoble . Had hoped the latest update would fix the issue but it just keeps circling and if it does log me in, it’s just for a second before I am booted off. BarnesNoble is unusable right now

Still having issues. Still kicks me out. This is garbage. Can’t look anything up. Can’t resent my membership info. What the heck is going on over there. It’s not that hard to build an app that freaking works.

Stop logging out every time. Make ship to store an option. Accept my address. You might not like it but I know where I live so trust me, the entered address is correct. I hate this new app!

As others have posted, I’m having log in issues. I never sign out as I use BarnesNoble multiples times in a week, but I can almost never get signed back in. I always get redirected to the sign in page. I’ve done face authentication and even logging in my email and password. Nothing. When it does work, the pages won’t load at all and eventually I get logged out AGAIN. It’s been like this for months and the developers acknowledged the issues and claim that they’re constantly working on it, but nothing has changed.

App currently asks you to sign in over and over. Won’t load cart, won’t load book searches, won’t load literally anything. There is no app update so that isn’t the problem. What’s the deal!? I can’t buy anything through BarnesNoble or see my pre orders. Been like this for days.

I can’t buy ebooks off BarnesNoble and the website constantly is not working and says I need to update internet explorer even when I am not on it. I have completed all the updates available and still get the message. It is a shame I cannot go hear to buy my ebooks and have to use kindle instead.

I had no issues for a few months, but now it tells me “page not found.” So, I uninstalled and the reinstalled. Now, it won’t allow me to log in and when I try to use it as a guest, it again tells me “page not found.” I’d love to say it’s user error, but even my husband, who codes for a living, says it’s buggy.

I routinely log into BarnesNoble and suddenly face recognition won’t work and BarnesNoble won’t accept my password. Then BarnesNoble tells me I need to reset my password. After numerous attempts BarnesNoble tells me I have made too many attempts and I need to wait X amount of minutes. Long story short, I had to log onto the B&N website to reset the password which works fine now. BarnesNoble accepts the new password and then sits on continue and won’t log me in.
I love B&N but I use BarnesNoble for all of my business with you. Fix this problem or you’ll loose my business.

i downloaded BarnesNoble thinking it could be easy for keeping track of my rewards and such. i can’t even log in. apparently older reviews had this same issue, but the developers responded saying it had been fixed. i’m not sure what happened. my login credentials are correct, BarnesNoble refuses to take them. it won’t let me answer my security question (it tells me the field cannot be left blank, even with my answer in the box). after trying time and time again my account is now locked, but i can’t fix that either because the website is even worse than BarnesNoble ! i can’t even hit the continue button after making a new password because, for some reason, the continue button was a field i could type in.

my advice to others wanting to download BarnesNoble: just go to your local B&N.

I am not a review writer. I either have to have the best experience or the worst to take the time to write a review. BarnesNoble falls under the absolute worst. Face ID is useless it goes through the motions of Face ID as if to sign you in but you just end up back at the login screen. Can’t even get into BarnesNoble . I’ve never seen anything like it. Please fix the issues with your app. Start over if you have to. I’ve already uninstalled & re-installed BarnesNoble . It’s BarnesNoble not its users.

BarnesNoble has never been that great over the past year and a half that I’ve used it but just this week I had my account hacked TWICE, despite changing my password and restricting my account after the first hack. Both of these hacks occurred immediately following the use of BarnesNoble . That tells me that they’ve had a major security breach, and I want to warn everyone to stay away from BarnesNoble or your account might be hacked too!!! Devastated that B&N did me dirty

I can log into my profile just fine on a web browser but BarnesNoble will not let me. I checked the email and password three times. I even tried to reset my password and BarnesNoble said that the email does not match an account, when I know for sure that is my email attached. I would love to have the ease of looking up books through an app but will stick with the web browser that seems to work reliably.

I used to really love BarnesNoble , but now It won’t let me even open it. Every time i try to open it, the logo just flashes uncontrollably. I tried to wait out the flashing logo, but it didn’t stop or change pages. I waited about 15 minutes before giving up and closing it again. I’ve tried for the past 2 weeks to open BarnesNoble (the last time being a few minutes ago) and there hasn’t been any change or improvement 😢

BarnesNoble is so glitchy and overall needs a lot more work. I have not been able to access anything as the screen repeatedly goes white then goes to the loading screen just to glitch back. I’ve updated, removed BarnesNoble and redownloaded it to no avail. I wanted to look up some books to preorder while I’m away from home and my computer. Pretty sad when I have to go to google and do it the long way when an app is available. Not impressed with this as Barnes and Noble is such a large company and they should be more proactive for their members online shopping needs.

Found a book that is ONLY available with B&N Nook. Downloaded the book app and created a login but then received error message stating there was an issue. Went to the B&N website and logged in, bought the digital copy of book and then it wouldn’t load in nook app. I’m assuming it was because of the error. Downloaded just the B&N app and it said invalid password when logging in so I changed my password and it immediately said invalid password. Double and triple checked and spelled everything correct. Changed password AGAIN and still won’t let me in and now my account is locked. Book was bought but cannot access it so I just give up. Worst app I’ve ever tried.

This is one of the worst app experiences I’ve ever had. BarnesNoble never works. It is slow and force quits constantly. If I press sign in it will buffer and then force quit again. I can tell you right now if BarnesNoble worked properly I would be spending so much more money with Barnes & Noble, but every time I go to order it’s a problem. I read a bunch of reviews with similar issues and B&N’s response is that their aware of these issues… these issues have been around since the launch of BarnesNoble so respectfully hire some new app developers. I don’t understand how you’re still having these issues. Every other book app I use for ordering works seamlessly. BarnesNoble is a nightmare.

BarnesNoble is not very intuitive. It’s difficult to just browse by categories, it’s difficult to browse in general if you’re not searching by a specific title for a specific book. Why does BarnesNoble log you out automatically after some time? It’s an app on my phone, I promise you we’d prefer to stay signed in.

My account has my purchase history, BarnesNoble knows what things I commonly search for…yet it’s unable to provide curated recommendations based on my history? What’s the point.

50% of the time BarnesNoble is laggy and slow and when you search you get this “hold on we’re checking the back”. It’s just ridiculous to me that in 2024 companies can throw such little money on their digital platforms and experiences.

BarnesNoble is so unreliable now. Ever since the update a week ago I can’t log in, and BarnesNoble gets stuck loading to the point the screen flashes. Honestly there’s no point even having an app since every other update ruins BarnesNoble for most users it seems, we’re better off sticking to the webpage.

I used to love the Barnes and Noble app and really enjoyed using it to shop online or scan my rewards in store. However, the past couple of weeks, BarnesNoble performance has been terrible. I’m unable to login, and it constantly shows just the loading screen. It’s very disappointing because I’m unable to redeem my rewards in store. Awful user experience overall.

When I sign in none of my account information is linked. I have tried linking my membership and it will not work so since I’ve renewed my membership it won’t let me add my membership card to my Apple wallet. Please fix all the bugs. I shouldn’t have to add my credit card and membership card to order from BarnesNoble when it should be there under my account when I sign in.

As other people have reported, BarnesNoble will not let me log in and I get stuck on the flashing logo screen. I tried rebooting my phone and deleting/reinstalling BarnesNoble and nothing seems to be working. I’m not sure if this is due to the most recent update or what, but even after the apparent ‘bug fix’ this seems to still be happening to a lot of people. I hope this gets fixed soon.

I hate using BarnesNoble. It takes so long for anything to load. Removing things from your cart or saved list can take up to a whole minute or more to remove. BarnesNoble also crashes frequently and slows or stalls when browsing. Thankfully Amazons app works without all the bugs and issues, and offers better deals. Sorry B&N!

The B&N app has to be the one most frustrating apps I’ve ever used. It is extremely laggy and due to this, not user friendly. I’ve had books in my cart randomly removed/added multiple times. I’ve been randomly logged out while trying to purchase books. Multiple attempts of logging in and never getting through past the log in page. Yes, I simply can go into a store and buy the book, but considering some books are out of stock locally, it would be nice to be able order them.

1/9/24 Update: Still cannot log into BarnesNoble . Absolutely useless.

Original review: I was able to create an account and start a membership, which I was able to use for the first time last week. Since then, I can’t log into BarnesNoble . It’s a virtual paperweight until they fix it.

Someone else’s cart was appearing instead of mine and my order details disappeared, I feared I had gotten hacked so I changed the password and deleted my card info. Deleting BarnesNoble, i’m sticking to the website from now on.

Aside from getting stuck in a loop of logging in, if BarnesNoble does decide to function, it adds random books to my cart NONSTOP. And I can’t take them out. Suddenly there will be more added. What is going on? BarnesNoble is impossible to use.

BarnesNoble does just about everything except work the way it’s intended. It freezes, crashes, throws error codes, and sometimes goes completely blank. Yes, I have the latest version of BarnesNoble . Yes, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Not to be dramatic, but BarnesNoble is unusable in the state it is right now.

BarnesNoble started out pretty great. But as the days progressed of having it, I noticed that books were being added to my cart that I did not add and when I go to delete them it gives me an error message, my membership was not showing up it was saying I needed to buy one, and it is constantly crashing. Please fix this.

I recently just got into reading end of last year and have since gotten a premium membership and half tons of list on BarnesNoble. I go on BarnesNoble and add books to my lists multiple times a day. over the past couple weeks it has been glitching terribly. logging me out, telling me to sign in, then when I sign in, I’m still logged out. I just saw an update for BarnesNoble , so I updated it and now I can’t even access my lists. if I click on a list, then the book, it brings me right back to the home screen. with how much I use BarnesNoble, it would be really frustrating for me, and I’m sure hundreds of other people, to have to use google to sign in to their account every day. fix this asap.

I've been a member of Barnes & Noble for years, and even though the last app was pretty difficult to navigate, This one is 1 million times worse. I've had to reset my password every single time I've tried to login and then it just spins around and around and never lets me actually login. I think I've been in once, which is a bummer because I do most of my christmas shopping through Barnes & Noble and I've had to find other resources this go around. Super frustrating. They should just ditch it and start new.

I’m a premium member at B&N and love shopping there and using my points. However, BarnesNoble never works. It won’t even let into BarnesNoble without saying “something went wrong, please try again later”. Every single time. I’ve deleted and redownloaded BarnesNoble ten times. I’ve hard reset my phone and waited for months to get them to roll out a fix but nothing changes. I’ll continue to use the actual website but it’s so much easier to use BarnesNoble especially when you need to have access to your card in store.

I’ve just got out of a reading slump (years) and I bought books from Barnes and Noble and signed up for the rewards program. I was excited to be able to look online through BarnesNoble for books because online shopping is so prominent now. Tried making an account multiple times and it wouldn’t let me. Then I tried to log in because I thought maybe it registered my attempts. It told me I had too many unsuccessful log in attempts when I had never tried to log in. Over it, Barnes and Noble please fix your app. It’s awful.

Before ordering, I checked the balance on my gift card. It said it had $25, so I chose the books I wanted and successfully added the gift card to my order. However, when I clicked “Place Order,” it gave me an error saying it couldn’t place the order. I went on the website and tried to place my order that way, but now it’s saying I don’t have a gift card balance! I have no idea what happened on BarnesNoble but some error must have taken the balance out of my gift card even if the order wasn’t placed.

Yeah, I was born in the 21st century. I definitely tried “updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling”. Do you think your app would be so lowly rated if the solution was that simple? I genuinely don’t understand these corporate copy&paste replies on every single review that just suggests updating/reinstalling and “we’re bringing this to our team”. These community wide complaints are from MONTHS ago. What is your team doing??

If I could give 0 stars at this point, I would. I too, as others, am getting the “flashing Logo” scree. Before I receive a reply telling me to remove it, restart my device, and download again, I have done that-three times now. This is clearly an issue with BarnesNoble .

So, I downloaded BarnesNoble on my newly acquired iPad and it looks like it’s’ only suited for a phone. I looked for BarnesNoble ‘for iPad’ but I guess there isn’t one? Annoying, but it seems to work fine. I would recommend only using a computer to access B & N though if your wanting to see the site on a larger screen.

Won’t open, won’t let me log in, will randomly boot me out. I really want to like BarnesNoble and appreciate the advances B&N is making to step things up, but all the patience in the world wouldn’t help me put up with its godawful glitches. APP does not work at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didn’t fix it. It would not allow me to sign it or to create a new account under a different email. Just gives an error box each time saying it’s not working.

App doesn’t work, when it does it is showing someone else’s account and shopping cart (19 books, over $300 total). Can’t clear the shopping cart, it just times out, so I can’t shop on my own account.

Barnes & Noble…invest more in the development and testing of your app. It’s pathetic, with lots of glitches!

BarnesNoble shows your rewards and stamps, but you cant apply them to a purchase. I gave up and went to a desktop instead. Such a waste. Its maybe fine for the occasional shopper or someone just wanting to check stock at a location, but with how slow BarnesNoble is, I dont trust the stock levels either. Shop instore or shop local instead.

If the point of BarnesNoble is convenience, this is a waste of energy. I am always having to log in, and get stuck in log-in loops, or simply nonworking buttons. I thought this would replace the store search kiosks they used to have, for finding things in the store. But no. And please don’t expect awkward book people to ask for help in the middle of the store, in front of everyone. We just want to to know the book is in stock, see a map, and scurry away to find it. i added gift cards to BarnesNoble and i lost almost $200. It won’t let me checkout with them and in the store either. I really don’t recommend this unless you want to lose money.

As a longtime loyal customer of Barnes & Noble, I am increasingly irritated by how awful their mobile app is. It is almost as if they don’t want you to use their app and force you to use their website instead. Today, I wanted to look up the availability of a new book I want to read and BarnesNoble is useless. It just keeps flashing. In the past, when it has worked, it is slow and difficult to use. I am used to other brick & mortar stores with new, upgraded apps that will show you the exact location of the product you are looking for. Maybe, for B&N we should just set our sights lower and ask for a mobile app that works!

We went to Barnes and Noble today and it was such a fun store. I figured I would start getting some ideas for Christmas gifts so I downloaded BarnesNoble hoping to be able to make wishlists or something. That option is not available.

THE WORST THING is that it doesn’t load properly! Unless you stay on the exact page your on.
If you go out of BarnesNoble and try to come
Back in, it won’t load images or it will automatically take you to your empty cart and then I can’t click to get back to what I was looking at. So the solution is to clear BarnesNoble go back in and find where I was at. BarnesNoble absolutely needs to get fixed.

This is probably the worst app I’ve ever used. In an age where technology is everything and everywhere, it’s extremely frustrating to have an app that is basically useless. For the past several weeks when I go into BarnesNoble , it logs me out every single time and I have to log back in. Additionally, it’s not even loading any content or books and just says “page not found”. I’ve had so many issues with B&N in terms of BarnesNoble and shipping and orders, it’s so disappointing. At this point it’s just taking up space in my phone and that’s about it.

BarnesNoble is as bad as the website. Enter your password or use your bio-password/face recognition and it just spins continuously with no end result and no way to access wishlists, shop, etc. Sadly it is spotty at best. Feels like the website that always shows some dumb downed version saying your browser is out of date, when it isn’t. I get it’s difficult to support all browser types with constant updates, and some do work well, but now BarnesNoble too? Will absolutely change the rating opinion once the tech is actually consistently user friendly.

I bought three books, the checkout process logged me out and cleared my cart several times during the ordeal. After a few refreshes, it would appear again. As soon as I finally placed my order it showed that my gift message wasn’t added nor was the gift wrap on only one of the books. I submitted an email to customer service after I clicked send in the help center - page went completely white so who knows if they actually got it or not. Embarrassing amount of errors for a company this big. Please invest in UX designer………. Probably also several dozen delivers.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single good review of BarnesNoble. My main problem with BarnesNoble is that it NEVER works when I’m on a WiFi connection. Not on my home WiFi not on ANY WiFi connection and will only work when I use my data and that’s incredibly annoying. I can’t browse the store or log in to my account unless I’m on data and if I switch over to WiFi while logged in BarnesNoble will just stop working. I’ve redownloaded it multiple times seeing if maybe it was just me but this has been an issue no matter how many times I’ve redownloaded BarnesNoble .

I never write reviews for apps but this has got to be the single worst app I’ve ever used. It doesn’t matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall or restart my phone, there’s no getting past the sign in screen. I log in and it just spins and spins and never goes anywhere. I assumed I had a password issue so I tried using the password reset option. That did absolutely nothing but flicker the screen at me. “Enter as Guest”? Yeah that button doesn’t work either. And it has been like this for at least a week if not longer. Thankfully the website works on my computer, but BarnesNoble is completely pointless.

I can literally (and have) cook and eat an entire meal and BarnesNoble will still be trying to log in. It’s not a server issue because the Barnes & Noble website works just fine, not a wifi issue as the issue persists when I use cell data only or I’m on a different network, not cell signal issue as the issue persists on cell data only where other apps work fine, it’s even a bad install issue as the issue persists when BarnesNoble is uninstalled and reinstalled. BarnesNoble used to work just fine and somewhere along the line an update broke something. Also, on the rare occasions I’ve been able to log in on BarnesNoble , the search also just spins.

For being such a reputable business I would have expected a top notch app. I would have seriously spend way more if BarnesNoble would actually work. I don’t understand how other businesses can have successful flawless apps and Barnes and noble can’t. Im constantly logged out and there are times I can’t log back in so i just give up. I try adding items to my cart and it either doesn't work or it takes forever. I really wish they would invest more into BarnesNoble. I would use it so much more!

I think BarnesNoble has worked one single day ever since I downloaded it. That’s it. That’s the review. I spend too much at B&N for this 😭 Just let me browse and buy things!!! Sometimes it just crashes every time you open it. Sometimes it logs you out every time you click anything. Sometimes you actually manage to keep BarnesNoble open and account logged in, but then it refuses to load anything. One notable time, over $1000 worth of random books were added to my cart and THEN I was booted from BarnesNoble leading me to think I’d been hacked. So that was fun.

I truly do not understand how non-functioning BarnesNoble continues to be. Do we not see that under two star average rating?

Can we pls fix BarnesNoble? So I can buy your books? Thanks so much xoxo

**Yet another** B&N app that doesn’t do the things you need an app to do. Really only useful for comparing prices to see if you want to go to their website the next time you sit down at a computer (because the mobile site is a mess, too).

So they closed most of their stores, making it highly unlikely you’ll purchase a physical book. And they decided to have **multiple** apps - but where none of them will let you purchase digital content? And logins are unreliable, and BarnesNoble loses your cart, and it’s buggy, too!

So now we have a couple useless nooks with no easy way to get digital content. And you have to drive an hour to experience the in-person equivalent of an airport gift shop? No thanks!!

Are the developers closely related to the CEO or something? Any other business would treat this as a 5-alarm fire and demand a functional and integrated app “before the Christmas shopping season”, yet this has been a mess for years. B&N has been playing around like time and money mean nothing to them.

Must be nice, but they can’t push people away forever. I’ll be shocked if B&N exists in a year. So sad. Family loved shopping in their stores back when they were plentiful and large and fun.

B&N… we’ll miss you!

Everytime I use BarnesNoble it freezes and then kicks me out. I close out BarnesNoble and try logging back in and it returns me to the sign in page every single time. It’s extremely frustrating. I can’t make a purchase, I can’t even reliably browse. It’s also slow to load anything on a good day. If B&N wasn’t a huge retailer I wouldn’t care. If you’re a monopoly in an industry and yet you can’t make a workable app then don’t have one at all. It honestly just comes off as lazy.

If it isn’t the slow loading times that have nothing to do with my internet connection (other apps are fine), then it’s the constant login loop which ends with me having to choose Guest mode to see anything, or the clunky UI. Why in the world you don’t have a dedicated account/profile link at the bottom navigation is weird, too. You have to navigate to Home and hope that you weren’t in an active search there to go to your account page.

When it comes to purchasing a book, which is meant to be the main thing about BarnesNoble, is next to impossible. You will immediately get your personal info popped up so you can’t enter your billing information. Even when you get the billing address it will still say something went wrong. Do not waste your time until they fix it. It’s been a month since the last update to BarnesNoble, so I doubt it’ll be fixed anytime soon.

Previously, you could access BarnesNoble and order books for in-store pickup. However, you can no longer sign in, as BarnesNoble just spools without actually logging you in. This is incredibly frustrating, as you can no longer place those convenient book orders. Furthermore, other users have reported the same issue, yet the problem remains unresolved for months with no updates from the developers.

BarnesNoble is so terrible. It could be so good if they tried. It’s constantly crashing. It always logs me out. And half the time when I’m trying to log back in, it says it does but then goes right back to the sign in screen. And that cycle just repeats itself until I can’t stand it anymore and give up. It makes me not want to buy books. And I love shopping at Barnes and Noble. It’s such a frustrating experience and has been for years. Pleeeeeeease fix BarnesNoble. May I remind you in an era where bookstores are becoming obsolete, I dont think this was the smartest decision ever made. You will lose a lot of customers based on this. I would give BarnesNoble five-stars, but to my disappointment they disabled the online services for the Cafe. Every time I visited my local Barnes & Noble I would always order my Starbucks through BarnesNoble as I did my shopping, but to my surprise, its no longer available due it being unpopular. Please bring it back.

If you want to know why you’re going extinct to other book options it is because you by far have the worst interface anybody could have in 2024. Constantly crashing, constantly just disappearing pages. It updated one day ago and is worse than EVER. Why do all my pre orders say back ordered? I was trying to order some books and look more at my account activity, but I can’t even log in. As soon as I try, it kicks me right back to the log in page. I’ve tried un-installing BarnesNoble several times, and even went to the actual website this morning which also seems to be down. Disappointing.

You would think that because Barnes and nobles books are so expensive and that they make bank they would be able to make a good app but no BarnesNoble can’t even tell me if a book is in stock and then when it’s having trouble it logs me out and I can’t log back in and I have to refresh the page sometimes for it work. Also why is it so laggy like BarnesNoble is absolute garbage and they haven’t done a single thing to fix the issues. TRASHHHH!!!!!!!!!

(Note: restarting/reinstalling BarnesNoble does not permanently fix any issue. I know you’ll recommend it— believe me when I say I’ve tried everything to fix it on my end.) BarnesNoble is a nightmare. Constantly freezes, crashes. It wheezes at almost any page loading. There’s a 50% chance the page you’re trying to load will result in a 404. App will sign you out and refuse to allow you to sign back in via a login loop (re-install fixes the issue, until the next time you open BarnesNoble and you need to re-install again 🙃). Items disappear from the cart within 24 hours, only to re-appear a day later. BarnesNoble was updated TODAY and spawned even more issues than it had before.

After the last recent updates I have not been able to log into my account at all. I have a gift card on my Apple Pay that can be used in BarnesNoble but I can’t get logged in. I have uninstalled BarnesNoble multiple times (like the developers have recommended) to no avail. Would really like to order my birthday present 🫣

I loved my nook when it first came out .
But B&N has gone so far downhill there is almost no way to get lower. I just tried to purchase some ebooks for my Nook. How do we add to our nook library ? Every Nook site I go to says it's not able to add an ebook to library ? What has happened to this formerly great store ? They say they are adding all kinds of physical stores ? They should fix this first !

It’s so slow, I’m constantly being logged out in the middle of using BarnesNoble , and sometimes it won’t event let me log in to begin with. I’m so annoyed since I have all my books on my wishlist and it makes it impossible to access my list. They are a massive corporation so I’m unsure how they don’t have a little budget to pay for BarnesNoble to just function. I don’t even leave reviews for most things let alone an app but I am so fed up. Less than one star if possible.

It wouldn’t let me finish making an account so I continued as a guest and nothing works?? No page works, all of them say they can’t load or anything. It’s not wifi because I’m using everything else perfectly fine. I had the old app, it told me to download the new one so I did. I just wanted to check the price of a book, but I guess not. This is terrible and seeing that everyone is having issues is not a good sign.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Why even have an app if it isn’t going go work or be sluggish 90% of the time? I’m tired of being kicked out or trying to view books and it won’t work. I’ll keep this short and to the point. BarnesNoble regularly logs you out and will not allow you to log back in without completely deleting and redownloading BarnesNoble …and sometimes even that doesn’t resolve the problem. Also, when you drop a title from your “save for later” section of the cart, the remaining titles get all mixed up (book image/book titles get jumbled up). There is no excuse for this to still be an issue, especially for an app directly linked to revenue and ease of shipping for the customer. I hope this is resolved so the shipping experience is improved.

The sign in button only leads to a blank white screen. No amount of time waiting for it to change is fruitful. Surely they have people (if it takes more than one person) who regularly check on the heavily-trafficked user routes like this one, right? I used to use BarnesNoble quite religiously, but ever since the “new” App came along, it is worthless. If you click on anything BarnesNoble is promoting or you do a search, it never goes to what you are wanting to see…just the dreaded spinning pinwheel. I keep thinking an update to BarnesNoble will fix this, but alas it does not. I LOVE B&N. This needs to get fixed. I will not trespass into the darkness that is Jeff Bezos’s pocket, but I am but one loyal customer. Too many will find this maddening, driving them to get their books elsewhere. Please fix this. Please be better. We need bookstores. We need B&N to survive!

Every time there is an update, BarnesNoble gets worse. If you type a title or author in the search field, it just spins and spins and nothing will come up. If you click on “see more” on their own homepage of different things to look at, it just spins and spins. How can a company get away with having such a bad app this day and age?

This is maybe the worst app I’ve used. It seems like it doesn’t have to be this bad. Every time I open it, BarnesNoble just flashes and never gets to the page. Even when it does get to the page, the pictures and menus are all wonky and unsearchable. Then, if I am able to make it to a page, I have to sign in each time I use BarnesNoble and most of the time it won’t accept my sign in information. So, when I try to apply and use my member points, especially in store, it’s a hassle and frustrating to the employees of the store and to those in line behind me.

I really think that BN can make this easier and simpler. I would buy from BN far more often if BarnesNoble was functional, but it’s simply not worth the hassle.

The B&N app used to be very functional; now imagine my surprise when I tried to buy an ebook and was confronted with “This platform does not support e-purchases.” Given that B&N’s Nook (both app and e-reader) require ebooks, the lack of ability to purchase on either app seems a ridiculous oversight. I might as well uninstall it and simply use the website.

I didn’t expect much from a B&N app but holy crap this thing is incredibly buggy. I added 8+ books to my cart. A few hours later I go back to BarnesNoble to find that not only have all of my books been removed from the cart but that they had been replaced with other random books. I’ve closed BarnesNoble , deleted/reinstalled, signed out and nothing has helped.

How can a major bookseller have such a crappy app? I try to purchase as a guest, but I must register. Why give “guest” as an option? I search for something that’s available, then not even in the search, then available again. I put something in my cart that disappears, then reappears. I change the shipping address to a different state, but it changes the state back to the old one. I enter a complete mailing addy with a business name, but the biz name doesn’t show up in the address.

I had BarnesNoble for a few weeks, and at first I thought it was smooth and very useful. But today I found random books added to my cart.

I thought I might have accidentally clicked on add to cart while browsing, but then I deleted them and went to the home page, I immediately saw five more random books added. When I tried to delete those, BarnesNoble logged me out. When I try to log back in, it loads forever or the Barnes & Noble loading screen flashes white and never shows me the log in page.

Not sure what has happened. I checked to see if there was an update needed because BarnesNoble has been absolute trash lately. I kept waiting and waiting hoping it would get fixed. Nope. After two weeks I have had enough and now will be deleting BarnesNoble to use the web browser.
NOTHING loads. It signs me out CONSTANTLY. I’ll be browsing books and then BarnesNoble just shuts off on me. This evening I tried going to the 50% off hard cover book haul on BarnesNoble and it just displayed a white web page with no letters or back arrow. Absolutely ridiculous.

the other commenters are definitely right — there’s a ton of bugs in BarnesNoble that don’t resolve even with a hard close. store selection screen took me to a blank screen with no back button, and closing BarnesNoble and reopening first made it so i had no option to sign in, and then just strobed back and forth with the loading title screen and a blank one no matter how many times it is hard closed and reopened. looks like BarnesNoble will need to be deleted and reinstalled every time there is an error. please look into backend issues!

I miss the old b&n app SO much. Ever since this version of BarnesNoble came out it has been such a hassle. It signs me out constantly and refuses to allow me to log in. There’s no error message, I didn’t get the password wrong- it just kicks me right back to the log in screen. BarnesNoble crashes while browsing, and now the latest bug is after hard resetting BarnesNoble , it is blinking white and gray and not taking me to the log in screen at all. I will never get the past 2 hours of my life back. BarnesNoble takes all socially accepted conventions and expectations of modern day online shopping and chucks them out a window. Add BookA to your cart. Find BookB in there. Delete BookB, suddenly BookC appears while you are still looking at the cart. Try to add BookA again. The cart now has BookC and BookD, neither of which you want. Finally add BookA, delete all other random books, and then try to check out before BookA escapes. Your address can never be saved. You try three times. There is no other way to go forward. Your mobile app journey is now truly at a dead end.

After I click place an order which is the final step in placing an order, it auto populates expensive Express shipping instead of the free shipping, even though I've double checked everything and am a premium member. I've had to cancel and redo so many orders it's honestly ridiculous.

You would think a big company like this would be able to hire better developers 🙄 just use the website. BarnesNoble is way to buggy. I was satisfied with BarnesNoble as it was but after being forced to update today, I can no longer log in. Any time I click the log in button, the screen goes blank and I cannot do anything but close BarnesNoble . I can browse BarnesNoble as a guest, but that entirely defeats the purpose of my use which was quicker access to my lists.

BarnesNoble is disappointing to say the least.
Crashes every time I click on a book to read the description or scroll longer than couple of books down.
The only time I’ve managed to even add a book to my cart was to log out of my account- but that’s useless because I can’t earn rewards if I check out that way.

My app is updated and there are still these crashes.

BarnesNoble won’t open most of the time. The screen is just white. It doesn’t work.
If it does open, it won’t let me sign in. And the last time I actually got to open it said I couldn’t make digital purchases so what good is it??

I see why BarnesNoble has a 2.2 star rating now. It’s Black Friday and I can’t even sign into my account. Plus, the layout and navigation of BarnesNoble makes no sense. It’s too difficult to find things. Don’t even get me started with the weird laggy/jumping scrolling on at least half of the pages. I don’t know who they put in charge of user experience for BarnesNoble but they should find a new career.

It is as every other review has stated: HORRIBLE! I constantly receive error messages, it claims login failed due to too many attempts even after trying to login twice, is so glitchy it asks me to reset my password almost every single time. The only time it works is when I enter as a guest. But that defeats the purpose as I can't add to my wishlist, see how many stamps I have or save anything. It's time to delete and rebuild B & N!

I love Barnes & Noble, I even have a membership, but I genuinely hate BarnesNoble. I can’t even use it right now when I open it it’s just a strobe light of the B&N logo and a white screen. But even if that stopped BarnesNoble is incredibly laggy and uncooperative. You’re better off just going in store or online. Super disappointed that they can’t figure out how to make a decent app, maybe the third time’s the charm.

I have a shipping address saved but when I go to check out it says invalid shipping address so I check it and it’s correct. When I recheck the box it accepts it but charges me shipping for $18. I’m a member so I get free shipping and yes the first time it is correct. I always have to cancel and start over which is also a hassle because the first 3-4 times I try and cancel it says “something went wrong, try again later.” In which case I usually just don’t order at all.

Whenever I open BarnesNoble , it automatically goes into white screen and it’s like that for hours. I’ve rebooted my phone, all my updates are up to date. It’s not my phone, it’s BarnesNoble itself. I really want to shop on BarnesNoble for more books. 😭

BarnesNoble is horrible. Constantly crashes, doesn’t load, logs you out. Can’t even ship a book to one of their stores for pick up!!!!! Ridiculous when every other book retailer has that option. I have been trying for several days to create a new account in BarnesNoble so that I can access my rewards. I am brand new to all of this. It is very unfortunate that BarnesNoble does not work. After I fill out all my information and click on “create account”, it just does absolutely nothing and when I try to go to the sign in page to sign in, it’s says there is an error. Very frustrating.

I like reading books and this bookstore is one of my favorite bookstore in NYC. However, their app is horrible. I couldn’t even sign in. It just stuck on the login screen all the time. I would suggest to invest some money into your app, hiring professional developers to improve BarnesNoble performance and functionality.

Your app is so glitchy. At time I can login in, it’s giving me errors of pages not existing. Just now BarnesNoble wouldn’t even load. The launch screen just said Barnes and Noble and glitched between a white or black background in a constant loop. I’ll be sticking to the website until you fix this.

I cannot log in on BarnesNoble , but my login credentials work perfectly when I open a browser tab in Safari (on my iPhone). I have reset my password, deleted and reinstalled BarnesNoble multiple times, and restarted my phone. BarnesNoble still doesn’t work for me. Thankfully, I have my plastic membership card and can also use the website, but in this day and age, apps are a nice convenience … when they are functional.

BarnesNoble is the worst, so much so that it’s useless to have and you may as well log in through the browser. It’s what I’ve had to do for the past month. BarnesNoble logs me out ALL the time and then I can’t log back in telling me credentialing issues and I’m using the wrong username/password combo. I was finally locked out of BarnesNoble so I reset my password only to be locked out again. BarnesNoble is useless. I’m glad I’m not the only one having this issue but this is beyond frustrating. To the developers, both my phone and app are updated. This issue is clearly not resolved based on your responses to other reviews.

I downloaded BarnesNoble this morning and have tried to sign in on the welcome screen, including successfully resetting my password, but every time I press “Go” on my mobile keyboard, it just resets to the welcome screen with no indication that the sign in failed. One time when it reset, the keyboard was stuck on the bottom half and I could not try to sign in again (as that button was covered). I am on an IPhone 12 Pro with iOS 16.5. There are obviously a lot of bugs with BarnesNoble per other reviews, but I truly can’t understand how it could have gotten through any amount of testing with the first step of the user flow not working.

I went into a Barnes & Noble for the first time in awhile and was pleasantly surprised by recent updates they made. So much so that I bought a ton of stuff and the clerk pointed out that I should join their premium membership to save money and get rewards. I did and was super excited to download BarnesNoble and start using B&N more and that A-word site less. Except BarnesNoble is horrifically slow, crashes often, and now I can’t even log in. I see the developer responding to these same issues here for the past several months. That’s nice and all…but how about you fix BarnesNoble so you don’t have to keep on responding here? This is ridiculous. Just fix it already.

I don't typically write reviews, but BarnesNoble is THE WORST! It glitches just before you click submit order, then somehow automatically chooses expedited shipping. I called the next day (customer service was closed when I ordered) and was told the best they could do was to refund me for half the amount of shipping. I tried again to place an order and the same thing happened. It says error (for no reason) then automatically picks expedited shipping, but shoots you right down to the order button so you don't see it.
Customer service finally refunded me in full after several calls. I will be deleted BarnesNoble and never using it again.

I had such high hopes with the release of a new app but it’s just as unusable as the last one. Literally logs you out every time you use it (even switching between apps) and often won’t let me log in. I’ve only had it downloaded for 2 days and I already hate it and am only using it because now they force you to scan in store instead of giving a phone number in order to get rewards. My phone number I’ve been using for over 15 years won’t work anymore because of all the changes they’re making to the rewards program, and folks in store can’t help me otherwise I’d delete BarnesNoble in a heartbeat.

I was really excited when I found out I could use BarnesNoble to keep track of my stamps and rewards! However, it came out to be pretty disappointing. I'm constantly being logged out every few hours and when I go to log back in, it tells me my password is wrong. I know this statement is false because I can log into my account on their website with ease using the same password. It's unfortunate that BarnesNoble doesn't work as it was intended, but I'm glad the alternative is just using the website. I like the interface of the website a lot more too. I really hope that BarnesNoble develops into something great where it becomes more user friendly!

When BarnesNoble works, I enjoy using it. It’s an easy way to look at books and there are usually great deals.

But when it doesn’t work, which is very often, it’s a pain. It logs me out frequently (usually have to log in ever time I want to use it) and when I try to log in it says “Something went wrong, please try again later.” It would be fine if this didn’t happen all. the. time. My app is even updated to the latest version.

I have been trying to log into BarnesNoble for the past 3-4 days and have not been able to do so. It has become increasingly frustrating because I like to browse books often. I have a premium membership because I use Barnes and noble so often but BarnesNoble simply does not work well!!!

I hope they fix it, because I want to continue shopping with them. From other reviews, I am not the only one this is happening to.

I had tried to purchase a book and set up my payment method and billing address when I ran into the first issue of it not save so I could proceed any further. Then it jumped me to the Home Screen of my phone. Got back into BarnesNoble , it had me back at the sign in area. I tried signing in 50 or more times, literally, and it would not let me sign in. It jump be back to the beginning. I check if BarnesNoble needed updated..it was already done. Checked if it was my phone by going through all the steps and shut down and rebooting. I deleted and redownloaded BarnesNoble multiple of times. Nothing worked. This sadly is the worst app I’ve came across on performance and maintenance wise. At this point..I guess I want be messing with BarnesNoble . DO NOT DOWNLOAD

I never had issues with the previous app but was pushed to download the new app today.

Today I was trying to place an order for a gift, then one for myself.

Order 1 - send to new address
- added a new address in ship flow, errored out when saving the new address. Had to start checkout again, new address was there.
- paying with new card added as payment method. States CCV was wrong, tried again, then processed with same CCV
- states to link my membership card, entered number and it told me was already linked - still charged me the $6.99 for shipping

Order 2 - sent to me
- four new books were in my cart that I never put after my first order was placed
- when I go to checkout there is a random persons name, address, and card information
- when I try to change to my own shipping info, selecting one of the saved addresses, it tells me that the address is not valid. When I try to edit the address and save it tells me there are multiple issues, even when selecting the suggested address.

At this point I can’t place an order, and also was charged $6.99 over on my original order.

Please give us the old app back. What a mess 😞

I’m running this on a new iPhone 12, and it takes a full THREE minutes to load anything, any search results, etc. And it doesn’t have any improvements to the features— there’s still no way to see whether the books in your search results are available for pickup in your chosen store unless you click each individual one. But the new app takes a step *backwards* and doesn’t even allow you to save your choice of store anymore. Giant fail. Why did they bother? P.S. The company keeps insisting that the password issues are the customers’ own fault because they “need to update them in their phone settings.” This does NOT fix the issue. Everyone using BarnesNoble will be forced to reset their account password. They messed up and are acting like it’s the users’ fault.

I used the Barnes & Noble Café app religiously, because I work in the mall and it’s super convenient to just be able to order before my break starts…I was totally okay with switching to BarnesNoble after it was discontinued, but the entire experience with BarnesNoble has been really terrible. Also, this has literally been the only app I have ever rated and negatively rated at that. But, I use BarnesNoble almost everyday and it has really inconvenienced me. First, I couldn’t even log in, wouldn’t recognize my account, even though I’ve had the same account for over a year…after I got that figured out, I still CANNOT use my Barnes & Noble membership account to order in the Café, which is my main use for it. Also, just found out today, it does not tell you why your order was rejected. Just overall, needs a lot of work. Not really impressed.

BarnesNoble has glitches you would expect to see in 2009 not in 2022. It's a shame that it's brand new but still has the same shortcomings as all the other app versions before it. Why is there? No remember me function? Why is there no biometric login option? Why is your password expunged after limited use? Why are you prompted to re-enter security information on your credit card despite the card being stored? Part of the reason why I stopped shopping. Barnes & Noble's was its failure to improve the online experience. I shouldn't have to spend 20 minutes attempting to get into my account, but this has routinely been an issue. Things like this takes money out of their pocket and I wish they would realize that people are frustrated with them and are more to turn to other retailers.

The cart frequently has issues, especially when moving items from the saved section. It’ll either throw an error or get the images switched around.

It also fails to display or apply sales. It’s missing other promos too, causing you to miss out on premium (paid) membership deals.

You also can’t remove ebooks from your cart in BarnesNoble .

Just such a mess for something released in 2023.

Even with recent updates to fix bugs, BarnesNoble is just one big problem. When it works, it tends to be laggy or glitchy. When it doesn’t…well you can’t even sign into your account. You can browse as a guest no problem but the moment you try to login, it’s just a white screen that doesn’t do anything. I frequent my store enough that it’s not a huge problem for me personally but it does make ir hard to check preorders and such while on the go.

I have to sign back into BarnesNoble about every other time I open it up, my cart is constantly being deleted on its own. ( which has led me to not get multiple books simply due to not being about to remember titles.) BarnesNoble is incredibly laggy and closes out on its own often. It will also change my store location on its on after I’ve switched it each time I check availability at store and it becomes a battle to finally get it set to right location. I can go on..

I don’t get logged out every time, which is good. But, today I tried to place an order to be paid for and picked up in a store. First issue that was that it wouldn’t let me use the gift card attached to my account. Then, when I tried to pay with the credit card attached to my account, I got a message that said there was no email attached to the order, which of course is not correct since I was logged in. I was able to place the order with no problem on the website, so I can only assume this is an issue with BarnesNoble and BOPIS.

I know others have mentioned this, but the logging me out every time is a pain. The website doesn’t do that. The website at least remembers my email so I can log in using Face ID for the password. The previous cafe app allowed me to stay logged in, not sure why the technology from one couldn’t be transferred to the other. It’s easy enough to navigate, but the website is better at this time due to the log in issue. Edit. I sent this before and was told it was fixed with an update. Since this is still an issue, even when trying to use BarnesNoble multiple times in day, my question is how do I know if my app is up to date?

I love love love Barnes and Noble, and when BarnesNoble is working it is great! But most of the time there is always something wrong with it. It either doesn’t let me log in, the order history won’t load, one time it charged me shipping when it shouldn’t of (I am a premier member so I get free shipping) I then had to cancel the order and do it again or it’s glitching and just flashing the home screen at me. I like the idea of pre ordering books because it stops me from spending more money than I should but it definitely needs some work.

I’m a big book worm so ultimately, i was thrilled to know there’s a barnes and noble book but it’s extremely slow. It’s also not up to date, I was looking for books by Jeffrey Eugenides and nothing appeared, assuming they just didn’t have his books I went to the website to see if they did and they most definitely have his books and the exact one i’m looking for. Overall, i like the layout but it’s annoying that it moves so slow and especially how it’s not up to date😕

BarnesNoble regular doesn’t work correctly even when up to date. Searches often reveal no results even when picking authors from their own books pages. Frequently logs my account out, slow searches. More often than not it’s better to just use the website rather than BarnesNoble .

I’ve had BarnesNoble for about a year and when it works, it’s an awesome app. I use it mostly to pull up my rewards to scan in store and keep track of what books I need in a series and if my local store has it in stock. Once again, after a “bug fix” update, it’s stopped working properly again. I used to log in, and then be logged in for over a month at a time. Now I have to sign in every-single-time and it doesn’t even “remember this device”. I’ll be on BarnesNoble switch to something else and switch back within 2 minutes tops and it is having me sign in again. Other times it will tell me every single location near me is sold out of every book I looked for. I recently decided to start the S Maas books and was looking to complete my set of Throne of Glass about 2 days after the launch of her newest book. App said it was out of stock everywhere. Had to call the store and they were heavily stocked in her books. This is a big issue for me because I live in rural area that the closest BN is an hour away. I’m uninstalling for now. Hopefully a new update will fix this issue.

I very much want to support BN over other options, but they make it so difficult.

The primary issue is the awful authentication setup. It never stays signed in and the reset flow is clunky. Please consider adding third-party auth options like Apple and Google since this has been a problem both on web and app for years.

I enjoyed BarnesNoble for a while because i used it to order starbucks in the mall however since the newest update it has takes my cafe option off and i can no longer do that. this is pretty inconvenient because i don’t use it bc i’m lazy i do it because when on my lunch break, i do not have the time to sit and wait for my order to be made. I need y’all to bring my cafe option back.

Mobile café ordering was nearly the only function I ever used BarnesNoble for and now that they have removed this without notice to their customers, I feel extremely disappointed. I used this often! I recently spent a lot of time searching for the cafe order function, thinking I was going crazy and not seeing it after an update. I had to find out from searching Reddit. Not cool.

Since the last update BarnesNoble puts one in a circular loop to log in even when you delete and reload BarnesNoble multiple times. Very frustrating!!

The B&N app needs actual bug fixed and a redesign.. I'm trying to order books right now and it takes forever to load any page, when I'm scrolling sometimes it just freezes, and half the time when I add a book to my cart it says there's an error and it completely signs me out of BarnesNoble . The slowness and freezing happens in BarnesNoble too frequently. I'm trying to give you my money vs cheaper competitors, please update BarnesNoble. The amount of negative reviews for BarnesNoble and the low rating should be a major sign to the company that it needs to be fixed if you want to continue selling books online.

This is the buggiest and most frustrating app I continue to suffer through. It logs me out at least once a week - sometimes daily - with no option to ask it to remember me whatsoever. Today I’ve tried logging in no less than seven times and every time it acts like it’ll log in but then dump me back into the Home Screen. I’ve force restarted *and* updated and it’s still doing it. I’ve also had issues in the past where, if I look at a past order (like something with preorders in it), it then won’t show me any of my other orders unless I force quit and restart. It’s exhausting, which is disheartening, because when it does work, it’s a great app. But when it doesn’t work, it *really* refuses to work.

BarnesNoble won’t log me in or will log me in for a moment before booting me out again. I want to make a purchase and literally can’t load my cart where I added everything I wanted to get. I also can’t access my rewards because of this. This is frustrating and encourages me to go elsewhere where prices are lower anyway. Additionally, search functions as well as product display would benefit from improvement.

BarnesNoble is so poorly done. constant crashes. constant glitches. i have had to delete and reload BarnesNoble so many times. i've had problems with orders going through and purchases being messed up. i wish it would be fixed because BarnesNoble layout is beautiful and when it does run, it's nice. but that's such a minimal amount of time.

Installed new update and now I get a blank screen when I want to sign into my account. I have a book to return and I can not return to a local store. Book was sent without a packing slip so I can’t even use the order search function.

Ever since Barnes & Noble revamped their business, I’ve become a pretty dedicated customer. If I can’t get something in the store, I usually go to the website because BarnesNoble on the phone is consistently unreliable, and simply doesn’t work a lot of the time. For example, I just spent five minutes trying to login. I know my credentials are correct, because I can log into the website but BarnesNoble won’t take them. If this was a one time problem, I wouldn’t be complaining, but this lack of basic function has been pretty consistent. Often I am unable to check out or use my credit card. Their testing and quality control group needs higher standards. Until that happens, I recommend that you use the website or go into your local store.

After the update, when I go to open BarnesNoble , the logo menu screen just glitches between old and new logo. It was usually bad before. Always logging me out, always forgetting my login, etc. but now it (as stated) doesn’t even load or open. Just flashes.

I’ve had so many on and off issues logging in over the last 6 months. It’s extremely annoying. I get books pretty frequently and check shipping status and such. I can log into the website but not through BarnesNoble , it says my login information is wrong. This happened a month ago and is now happening again. I don’t understand why this is an ongoing problem. I’m about done with BarnesNoble . I’ll just use the website since BarnesNoble does not work most of the time.

I hate that it won’t accept my card on BarnesNoble but it will on the website. I have to force close BarnesNoble all the time to login, it should just keep me logged in. I’d love to see a specific sales section or an “upcoming sales” like my target app. They need to add the capability to track your shipped orders. I see that it says “shipped” but where is the tracking number? Things i love: the scanner, wish list tab, rewards tab, and easy access to the rewards card.

BarnesNoble used to be great, I have ordered a couple things from BarnesNoble before and it worked fine until recently. I don’t know why but I was logged out of BarnesNoble , and now any time I try to log back in it just kicks me back to the opening page of “sign in or create account” nothing will load, and BarnesNoble keeps taking me back to that same opening page no matter what I try or do. I could literally just click the “sign in” or “continue as guest” buttons and it puts me back to the opening page. This is so frustrating. BarnesNoble had so much potential. Please fix this issue as soon as possible. Barnes and Noble is such a great store and having BarnesNoble is so convenient, but only when it’s working. Which according to other reviews, it doesn’t work 95% of the time. Considering the amount of bad reviews there are you would think they would try to fix BarnesNoble but it’s starting to feel like a lost cause :(

I was quite exited about BarnesNoble but ultimately it’s just not a good app. The format seems to only comfortably work for phones so if that’s not the device you are using there is a lot of extra space. The logins process is strait up bad. The first time you login make sure to enjoy it because that’s all your gonna get. After closing BarnesNoble it will make you sign in again and there doesn’t appear to be a quick sign in option. Also it’s a very slow app and takes forever to load. Once I tried to sign in again (this would have been my second time using BarnesNoble ) it simply would not let me in it kept saying there was some sort of problem

I’m just genuinely confused as to why BarnesNoble is so bad I feel like Barnes and noble should be able to have made a smooth app at this point but apparently not.

BarnesNoble is slow, and logs me out constantly and does not save my log in information. I can barely ever get it to work and was stuck in a flashing screen for a few days, deleted BarnesNoble , redownloaded it a week later and it was still flashing back and forth from the logo to a white screen.
Please please please fix BarnesNoble it’s incredibly frustrating because the website is equally as buggy to use. BarnesNoble , when it does work, is ridiculously slow and can barely load a search or item.

Like other reviewers, the Barnes & Noble app frustrates me to no end. I can’t place an order, it logs me out at least once or twice a week, and BarnesNoble is incredibly glitchy. Sometimes I can’t even log back into my account —I usually have to force close BarnesNoble a few times— and whenever I try to move a book to “Save for Later” the whole app glitches and logs me out. For orders I have placed, most of the time they won’t show up under “Order History” and, when they do show up, I can’t even access my tracking number. Definitely use the website over BarnesNoble .

I love Barnes and noble and I use their membership program, but their app is atrocious. They had a different app that was awful and created this new one, only for it to be just as bad. It’s laggy, signs me out no matter how many times I save my password, crashes when I add too many things to a wishlist and overall makes buying online super inconvenient. Not to mention their search is horribly organized. It needs so much more work, and they should be able to do that now that they’ve raised the price for their membership :/

When I put my billing address and all that info the click next it goes white and it is on the current update and I restarted my phone and uninstalled BarnesNoble then installed it and it does the same thing.

It’s very strange to me that an app on my device will not let me purchase an ebook to read on the same device. Using device’s web browser is a work around but it is a work around that should not be necessary.

My app is up to date, but with the last few updates it won’t open at all or has issues trying to open with a flashing screen. It’s nice to have BarnesNoble , but it’s useless if it won’t open or take more than 5-10 minutes of a flashing screen to figure itself out.

I don’t know what is going on with BarnesNoble, I have a Barnes & Noble account but it will not let me reset my password. It keeps saying to use an email associated with the account even though I have used both and it will not move forward with changing the password. When I try searching up specific book categories it will only give a certain amount of options, and if I want to search at a specific location for books I have to sign in to do that, but cannot access my account at all. I’d rather use the website than BarnesNoble honestly. This is the third time I’ve downloaded BarnesNoble hoping for a better improvement.

I really liked BarnesNoble when I had access to it. Now it’s telling me I need to reset my password due to inactivity which would be fine if it would move past the “password assistant” page. I’ve tried to send a link to my email and answer my security questions with no luck. It will not move past the page and I never get an email. So unfortunate as I would at least like to keep track of my points. B&N is a billion dollar corporation it’s kind of ridiculous it can’t at least provide a decent app. It’s 2024 figure it out.

I love BarnesNoble, when it is working. Search, wishlists, ratings, membership access, store, etc. are easy to use and great! However, more times than not BarnesNoble never loads, despite uninstalling, rebooting, Face ID, or not, wi-Fi or direct it just doesn’t matter. This is across my device and my husband’s too. Therefore reliability is lacking for me and I am unable to use it as intended. I sincerely hope a fix comes quickly!

Let’s see if this remedy this but this is the second time this occurred.

Their app continues to crash and act wonky — maybe bc of black friday idk but regardless I have witness someone else’s cart appear instead of mine. Soooo strange. My account details are correct but then when requesting an email verification— the email is addressed to someone else. No one has my password or access to my account. Ive reset my password and bow BarnesNoble continues to crash.

This whole weird things in my cart that wasn’t added by me, has happened before black friday so idk what the deal is.

It signs me out constantly and when I enter my information it says error, but the same information works online. It crashes a lot.

That said on the rarity it does work BarnesNoble is really good. You can see your stamps and balance. Find books, browse, checkout and checkout pick up at store.

My main issue is BarnesNoble very rarely works.

There is much to be desired with BarnesNoble. When it works, it’s great. Although, when I’ve asked if a book was out of stock at the store the store has said otherwise, despite BarnesNoble saying out of stock. Also, 98% of the time I can’t get BarnesNoble to open, or even pull up my account information which is a bummer. Especially when trying to find out my rewards info. I hope some of these things get fixed.

BarnesNoble is exactly what you expect; Barnes and Noble but mobile. But, the UI and BarnesNoble itself is very clunky. I tried adding my payment method and address but once I was done putting everything in, it just wouldn’t load. Does BarnesNoble want my money or not? Nevertheless, even the filter settings for the books is kinda annoying. It only allows you to select one thing only even though it’s a filter. Really all I want from BarnesNoble are two things:
Dark mode
More quality of life updates
Other than that, BarnesNoble is fine

I have 18 books in my cart and was going to buy them when it randomly crashed. I can’t even open BarnesNoble anymore. I stopped trying to open it for a while but when I started to again I was logged out. This was fine and it’s normal. But, when I logged back in, it crashed AGAIN. It’s defiantly the amount of books I have in my cart, because it doesn’t crash whenever I have less than 10. Please fix this!!

I love shopping at Barnes and noble but the one closest to me is about 45 minutes away. Especially when gifted a gift card but I can’t load it onto my account it keeps saying that it’s been loaded to the account but not showing the current balance. However, when I go to check the balance on it, it still has it’s current amount on the card. So something has to be fixed about this.

When it works, it works well! But more often than not I always run into problems while using BarnesNoble — mostly glitches, lagging, what-not. As it stands, you’re better off logging on through your browser or heading straight into a physical store.

No way to contact customer service through BarnesNoble . No way to cancel orders at all. Ordered a book for a Christmas present. App said I would get before Christmas but when the confirmation came through the delivery date is for after Christmas. I will seriously be rethinking whether I want to continue business with this company. I don’t like spending money on lies and scams.

BarnesNoble crashes consistently, for myself, and my friends. BarnesNoble has sign in issues EVERY-TIME for us. It is cool you can order Starbucks on BarnesNoble at your selected store when BarnesNoble does decide to work, and the concept of BarnesNoble is great as it will tell you if a book is available before you come and you can use it to put a book on hold. However the issues with it are far and plenty. The worst one recently was when BarnesNoble was offline for 2 days or so last month. Around Black Friday time of all times. But the company is great and have good prices as well as a great membership value. I think BarnesNoble should be scrapped and a new one should be made from scratch at this point. It feels well past fixing 🥲

Using BarnesNoble has been an up and down roller coaster since I downloaded it. I’ve always been a shopper at the physical stores so a few years ago I decided to download BarnesNoble to make things easier for myself. Some of the things I do here are price check for lower prices on books, check which locations have some and sometimes I ship if I don’t have the time to go out. But BarnesNoble has been so unpredictable since the beginning. It takes forever to load anything, BarnesNoble closes out on me often, and at random points in the day it’ll log me out and refuse to let me back in. I don’t know what’s going on but to anyone considering BarnesNoble, just stick with the website!

I love Barnes and noble and I love online shopping, especially on mobile formats. I was really hopeful when they redid BarnesNoble a while back but it is still insanely glitchy and laggy. Sometimes I’m browsing (which takes a while to load to be able to scroll through books) and it randomly closes BarnesNoble for seemingly no reason? Want to add something to a wish list? Good luck it’s extremely clunky trying to select a list but once you do it will either load out and you have to close BarnesNoble and restart or sends you to the top of books you just spent all that time browsing and lose your place. I wish it was easier to use, now I just use it to check if in store locations have a book in stock (if it loads that time). Disappointing but shopping on a computer browser works much better.

For such a big brand, BarnesNoble is terrible. Very laggy, often crashes, signs you out randomly, difficult to navigate. Not useful at all. The most recent update has been the worst in fact.

BarnesNoble is very glitchy and it is very hard to put gift cards in, but when I use the normal website it works perfectly, please everyone, use the b&n website (b&n.com) it’s just like BarnesNoble but much better

So I usually have no problem with BarnesNoble but in the last week, I have had a huge problem with BarnesNoble signing me out and then not letting me sign back in for maybe 5mins to several hours! It is ridiculous! I love shopping at Barnes and noble and I have been using my wishlist to give people ideas for gifts. I can’t do that if app keeps signing me out… I have contacted the customer service team for help and it didn’t help resolve my problem. I am frustrated. Update: It has happened again. I having this happen over and over again. This is the 3rd time in last week! And I should not have to deleted and reinstall BarnesNoble every time this happens. It should not be happening.

Constantly get signed out of BarnesNoble . Unable to delete items from my save for later list. When I try to add things to my cart from my saved for later list, it says added to cart but it doesn’t actually add. I’ve tried updating and deleting and reinstalling since the update but I’ve seen no change.

As someone who heavily enjoys reading and writing, I bought two items off of BarnesNoble with a gift card. It’s one being a paperblanks journal, and item two being a book. The book never arrived, but the journal did after an incredibly long amount of time to the point I forgot I even ordered it. I’m still not sure if the money was returned to my gift card as of right now.
Today I opened up BarnesNoble and it just keeps showing the logo, a loading white screen, and then the logo again. I absolutely love Barnes & Noble, and I also love reading. And having items shipped to you seems to make things easier, but a lot of the issues with BarnesNoble aren’t worth the hassle. If you can, I’d recommend a physical location as opposed to BarnesNoble .

BarnesNoble has potential, but it’s not come close to reaching it. Like others, it’s impossible to make an order through BarnesNoble . I have to use a browser. It seems you can’t use PayPal through BarnesNoble , either.

I like the layout a lot. When it’s running smoothly all the features like search, add to cart, save for later, wishlist, and check in store availability is great. However, checkout never works, and, worst of all, it logs me out every five to ten minutes. Just leave me logged in! Is that too much to ask for? Currently BarnesNoble doesn’t work at all, even after todays update. I have tried uninstalling/re-installing. Nope. Didn’t work. I’ve gone back to having a perpetually open browser tab for Barnes and Noble so I can continue my searching without getting kicked out of BarnesNoble when it inevitably crashes or logs me out.

If the developers really sit down and work hard to polish up BarnesNoble, it’ll be worth a perfect score. I love Barnes & Noble and I want to see BarnesNoble be as great as my local bookstore.

Overall, when BarnesNoble works, it’s works great, but when it doesn’t, it’s the worst experience you can achieve for a mobile app. My main concern is that when I go to check on my tracking status, none of my orders show up half of the time. If BarnesNoble can fix minor issues like this, then it’s worthy of at least 4 stars.

BarnesNoble is great when it works, lately it has been glitching and very laggy when trying to remove things from cart etc. it will also sometimes log you out which can be frustrating, but BarnesNoble truly does have potential to get better and I’m surprised its not given how popular Barnes & Noble is. I feel like it would be in the company’s best interest to fix BarnesNoble so that more online orders can be placed. It’s not a terrible app but it does need a lot of work.

I find BarnesNoble helpful, however there is one bug that makes it very unhelpful. There is no place in checkout where you can apply your gift card(s) to pay for your books. I receive many gift cards as gifts, and they are my main way of paying for books. I eventually end up going to the website to pay, so what’s the point of having BarnesNoble anyway? Just fix this bug and BarnesNoble would be 5 stars!

I’ve always used the website to order books, I never ran into problems. I would place an order and get a confirmation email about 10 mins later, I used BarnesNoble bc I thought it would be a lot easier. I ordered 2 books through BarnesNoble and I haven’t gotten a confirmation email or message 2 days since I’ve placed my order I’m anxious that maybe my order didn’t go through bc it’s been showing preparing shipment for the past 2 days. I always get a confirmation email and an email telling me my package has been shipped, and I haven’t gotten that from using BarnesNoble !!! Please tell me if I’m getting my package or I want my money back!!!

I wanted to download BarnesNoble so that I could buy books that they didn’t have on the shelves when I went in person. But I look at the reviews and they’re saying that they get logged out EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. They open BarnesNoble again after closing it. But I also saw that some of them got replies saying sorry about the issue and stuff like that. I still downloaded it hoping they did fix the problem but they didn’t. I made an account yesterday and I re-opened BarnesNoble today and it told me to log in. I haven’t even ordered anything yet and I’m having problems. This is something that really isn’t that big of a problem, not like as if someone ordered something and never got it, but it’s still frustrating. Hope you could fix this cause I don’t wanna have to enter my email and password every time I open BarnesNoble .

I love BarnesNoble so much! And I love reading. But lately when I go to my Barnes & Noble app, it just randomly appears to have me signed out. I never signed myself out and I go into BarnesNoble multiple times a week. So there’s no reason for it to sign me out if I was “inactive” because I wasn’t. Then, when BarnesNoble login finally works, the pages never load and I can’t search for a book or author. I have an account and a membership with rewards and Barnes is my safe place, I would like to keep it this way.

Hi I can’t get my lists sorted by most recent. This is a problem since I have lots of books added to my list. Can somebody please look into this? It makes looking what I recently added to my list extremely time consuming on BarnesNoble . I will have to scroll for about 8 minutes just to reach the bottom and by that time I am too exhausted to use it for it’s intended purposes. Can somebody please at barnes & noble look into this?

I haven’t had any issues with BarnesNoble since the last update. I am able to browse for books and complete purchases. I am giving 3 stars because of the lack of payment options. In this day and age! BarnesNoble needs to catch up to modern days LOL! Please add apple pay, PayPal and after pay. It would be way easier to checkout.

at first when I got this a few months everything was working perfectly. lately though it has started to glitching a lot. everytime I log in, I’m never actually logged in. I can’t see my wishlist or rewards or anything else that is in my account because it says I’m not signed in even though I am.
please fix this Barnes and noble!!!

BarnesNoble has worked for me up until the update 2 weeks ago. Now I can no longer go into my accounts information and check on orders and see what’s on my lists. The screen goes blank when I click on the account circle and never loads. I have to log into the web browser to see any of my orders or any information. Once that is fixed I will really enjoy BarnesNoble again.

Whenever I sign in and all of my information is correct it takes me back to the page where it says “sign in” or “enter as guest” and won’t let me get onto the homepage where you can search for the books unless I create a whole new account with a whole other email. It is so frustrating. Please fix this.

Overall BarnesNoble works enough for my needs until BarnesNoble freaks out. I enjoy the convenience of having Apple Pay as an option however, either it can’t load items in my cart or like today won’t even let me in BarnesNoble . Very frustrating.

BarnesNoble is very laggy, it’s confusing and I didn’t really like the layout. When I went to categories, it didn’t have the category books I want and BarnesNoble froze on me when I was trying to look for something. BarnesNoble needs to be more like the website, the website is more organized than BarnesNoble . Please fix that, I would love BarnesNoble when it’s fixed. Thank you

I have used BarnesNoble for about a month. Can’t give as much feedback but I do have some stuff to say about BarnesNoble. There is a little bit of glitching when it comes to adding stuff to the cart but my books either arrive on time or a couple days before. I have loved BarnesNoble since then. Other than just a few bugs and a lottle bit of lagging BarnesNoble is amazing

i love love love love to read and it’s very convenient for me to just be able to have books delivered to my house instead of picking them up. BarnesNoble would 100% be given 5 stars except for one recurring problem. whenever i qualify for free shipping and a free gift, i get my books and guess what. no gift. i make sure that i have the option selected but no matter what it doesn’t send a gift. maybe i misunderstood or something, but it’s getting really annoying now.

I haven’t had any issues with BarnesNoble . I am not sure where to post or ask this but I am hoping that a new feature could be added where we can see digital receipts on BarnesNoble instead of us just getting an email.

I was very disappointed that I couldn’t use my gift cards in BarnesNoble . I could only change my payment method to another card or view a physical gift card balance. All my gift cards were loaded electronically into my account so not helpful. 😢

I haven’t had a problem with BarnesNoble in terms of UI or crashes. I’m mostly pleased but I do have one suggestion I’d love to see, and think others would like it, too. I would very much like to be able to see my purchase history from in the store in BarnesNoble . Surely it wouldn’t be too difficult? That alone would make BarnesNoble perfect and I wouldn’t have any complaints ever as far as app capabilities. I love B&N so I buy a lot of books and would love to be able to check if I bought something with a quick app opening and glance rather than tracking down books or finding a receipt.

Overall, I like BarnesNoble better than the previous one, but not very much for one reason in particular. I am an ebook reader and love reading e books, and the thing I hate about BarnesNoble is that you can’t see the price of ebooks on BarnesNoble . I know that I can’t buy them on BarnesNoble , you couldn’t buy them on the other app either, but it would be nice to know how much it cost instead of having to go on the internet and search it up. Instead when I look for a book book, it just says “NOOK Book” with no price on site. Other than that, BarnesNoble is way faster and easier to navigate than the previous app and I just really wish they would change that one thing.

BarnesNoble is so much better than the old/original Barnes and Noble app. I am a big fan of the new “stamp”-based rewards system and I love the ability to place Cafe orders in BarnesNoble as well. 📚However, I do still occasionally have technical issues with BarnesNoble such as orders not going through and getting stuck on a buffering-wheel at checkout. This isn’t usually the case, but it is something that I hope the next update fixes.

BarnesNoble is way better than the last! Use interface is much better. Seems to run smoother. But please change one thing… let me stay signed into my account. It is such a pain. Everytime I want to use BarnesNoble , I need to re-log in. It’s is already on my phone which needs my face to open. I wish I could add books to my wish list or order from the cafe with ease but it’s so inconvenient that I need my email and password every time I even want to browse. Other apps are not like this and are pretty much click and order in 2 seconds. I wish this could be the same when buying books

My existing app wouldn’t work, and would just flash every time I tried to sign in no matter how many times I force closed it or turned my phone off. So I deleted it and redownloaded BarnesNoble from BarnesNoble Store; now BarnesNoble works but won’t allow me to sign in, it just keeps reverting to the log in screen.

UPDATE: The dev’s addressed my issues soon after my review posting and it is working well now. Thanks B&N team for your attention to your customers.

This newer app for Barnes and Noble is a noticeable improvement. The previous app was just the website smacked into an app, and it was slow, buggy, and annoying to use. When you would be going through a list of books, and you selected one, and then went back, it would take you all the way back to the very top. It would also do this when you would delete items from your wishlist. This newer app fixes all that, and is different from the website. It lacks polish, and can be a bit slow, but I am much happier with this iteration of BarnesNoble compared to that horrid previous version.

I was really nervous at 1st seeing all the one star reviews but i didn’t have any problems. One of the main problems I saw people were having were them not being able to log in and for me I have a list of all my usernames and passwords so it was easy for me. Another problem I saw people having were it was taking to long to load but it only took mine a couple seconds to load. When I tried the new app for my self I really liked it. It was so much easier and faster then the old app. Also I have and IPhone 11 if that matters but if BarnesNoble works for you it’s a great app to have.

Update - it took some time, but after a few hours or so I got logged in. Not sure what happened. I also received a developer response to my initial review (which I’m not able to find, but that’s on Apple.) Nice app, easy to get around and find things. Glad however it got resolved that it did.

First time in a while with BarnesNoble , and I find out there’s a new one. I download it, log in, and get the message that I need to change my password due to inactivity. I change it through the email link that is sent to me, log in with the new password, and… same message. I’ll certainly update this review once I can actually see and use BarnesNoble .

When BarnesNoble if functional it’s an easy five stars. Simple to navigate, easy to place orders, extremely user friendly HOWEVER the devs update the thing and it breaks to unusable. You have to uninstall, restart, reinstall, and even that doesn’t fix it most of the time, you’re just trapped on the login screen. BarnesNoble just updated and is once again not allowing access so it’s a one star for now

When I downloaded BarnesNoble , I was curious to see what was wrong with it that everyone was moaning & complaining about, but I don’t honestly see why. When I ordered a King James Version Bible off BarnesNoble , putting my payment information in was easy-peasy, creating a new account was painless & the shipping of my order was actually pretty fast without upgrading to a different type of shipping method. When my order got here, the Bible was in mint condition & didn’t suffer on the way over. Naturally, I read parts of it & am very eager to read it once we’ve made sure that the new church we’re going to is right for us. Overall, a very satisfactory experience.

App is easy to use, and straightforward. You can only purchase regular (physical) books in BarnesNoble , but that seems normal for most apps these days, so I won’t fault them for that.
