OpenStax + SE Reviews

I downloaded OpenStaxSE to read my school textbooks while I work and there’s a few things that I wish they had. I wish that I didn’t have to go find my specific text every time I reopened OpenStaxSE . I would love to be able to bookmark and save the book in my account so that I may go back and find my place. Another great feature on my other reading apps I wish this one had is a speaker. Someone who reads aloud to you so that you may multitask. I like to listen to my textbook when I’m at work and I can put my headphones on when I’m free to listen and work and the same time. A highlighter! I like to highlight key terms and sentences that I find important but OpenStaxSE doesn’t allow that. I would give this an average score of 3 stars because it could be better and it runs a little slowly.

Love how access to the textbooks is free and everything is divided with their hyperlinks/indexes making it easy to navigate. I didn’t even need to make an account. It has almost all the textbooks for the courses I need plus summaries and reviews. Definitely considering subscribing so I can get access to the guides and videos on certain topics within my courses. Did get a lot of notifications/pop-ups asking if I wanted to pay for video help, but other than that it was great. Wish I knew OpenStaxSE existed earlier, it would’ve saved me time and money.

The Openstax app is a great tool for students who want to have their textbooks accessible through their mobile phone! The sections of the books are easy to see and have assessment questions at the end of the sections to test yourself on the knowledge you have just learned. The answers are also their and easy to find so that you can check your work. The videos provided are also very helpful and provide more information to students who learn easier by listening as well. Overall, a great app for students!

OpenStaxSE features an excellent general assembly and setup. I really enjoy how I can switch between books or chapters at the touch of a drop down menu. I wish there were more options in the menu to show additional features of OpenStaxSE . I think a introduction or tutorial of some sort would be fantastic in order to best explain the layout and intention of OpenStaxSE . Other than that, great application for preparation for college and middle/high school courses.

Even without paying for a membership at first, OpenStaxSE was so helpful by just making a convenient and organized version of my online textbook. It separates chapters into smaller sections, has summaries, and has no lagging in the process unlike when I use my textbooks through my school website. Videos are also super helpful by further clarifying topics and giving study tips. Definitely recommend for college students!

OpenStaxSE is awesome. It provides so much knowledge free and at your finger tips.

Developer: Please enable me to go back to where I was in the section exercises after looking at an answer to a question. For example if I am working question 25, then I click on it to see the answer, there should be a way for me to go back to where I was after I see the answer. If that functionality is there already, my apologies for not seeing it.

Otherwise an awesome app. Thanks for this great resource.

Openstax has been really helpful for me in a lot of my college classes. It just helped me through a calculus exam. The textbooks give you explanations you can actually understand, and each section comes with videos and (my favorite part) practice questions that test your knowledge. And it definitely costs way less than any textbook than any terrible textbook they would make you pay a million dollars for in college!

All the content is phenomenal and very well written and researched! My only issue is that OpenStaxSE forces you to re-enter your college info and then login to your account every. time. you. open. it.

Additionally, since the online version of the text allows highlighting, etc. it would be good if OpenStaxSE version allowed that too, but as far as i can tell, that is not an option.

It WILL NOT keep me logged in. Every time I open OpenStaxSE , I have to type in my school’s name and pick a subject before I can even get to the login option. It is very annoying.

Also, I would prefer to have the option of highlighting info like the desktop site allows.

Other than that (which unfortunately makes it a worse option than using the browser version), it would be a very nice app as the subjects and content within the subjects are well organized.

OpenStaxSE has a very clean and organized set up making it very easy to use for students that need quick access to textbooks and information for their respective course. Being in college it is always helpful to get access to additional materials that can help in my business courses right in the palm of my hands. OpenStaxSE provides helpful ways to review for upcoming exams!

Openstax is a great program and I am so happy to have come across it! OpenStaxSE makes learning so easy to do and has helped me do well in a lot of my classes. The textbooks have great examples and explain everything easy to comprehend. OpenStaxSE is almost perfect it’s quick and easy to navigate. I can learn on my phone at anytime I want! Definitely recommend downloading OpenStaxSE and using it !!!!

Super useful app. Has the textbooks for almost all my classes so I’ve been using it a lot. I can keep up with my classes without having to spend money on a textbook when I’m just taking a class for the credit. The summaries of the chapter are also useful for when I’m crunched for time. It’s been so useful I’m considering subscribing to get the video content. Definitely recommend OpenStaxSE.

Just to clarify, I love OpenStaxSE. It’s truly the best app for college students to use when it comes to books and general material. But the only issue i have with it is, I can’t highlight on the mobile version like I can on the computer. It’s easier to use on the iPad, so i just wish I could use the highlight tool on here as well. Aside from that, I really enjoy OpenStaxSE !

I love OpenStaxSE! It is easy to use and extremely helpful for school. It’s so convenient to have access to textbooks on my phone. It breaks up the textbook into smaller sections, which makes the reading easier to understand. I really like how there are questions at the end of each section that allows you to test your knowledge on what you read. Overall, OpenStaxSE is great!

OpenStaxSE is very convenient and well organized, and it has definitely saved my grade on some of my classes. Not only do you get access to the textbook, but you also get practice problems to help you prepare for the exam, and video tutorials as well! Very easy to navigate and the fact that I can do it right off my phone is super convenient too. Love it!

The mobile app makes it so convenient to use form phone. Very easy to navigate and looks really nice, and the table of contents makes it easy to move through textbooks. The ability to zoom in on text and images is also really nice - no need for buttons, you can just pinch to zoom. OpenStaxSE is also super nice to look at it.

I love the Openstax app because it’s easy to open up and use and way cheaper than buying physical textbooks through my college. OpenStaxSE is very useful as it includes your digital text as well as helpful videos that enhance your learning. As long as they have your course available, you won’t be disappointed.

OpenStax offers a great deal of free content. I’ve personally used their free books for some of my classes or whenever I feel like learning something new. The also have videos that follow along the textbook. I recommend buying the subscription if it’s available for the course, since it adds a lot of value in terms of content.

OpenStaxSE has definitely made a positive impact on my educational experience. Sometimes you need more than just a classroom experience and that’s where OpenSTax + SE comes into play. OpenStaxSE provides you access to free textbooks and the option to use Study Edge’s resources for a small fee. I highly recommend purchasing that as you will gain the necessary knowledge to succeed in your courses.

Like the rest, I use Openstax for text reading when I’m on the go and when I’m at a computer. The online version gives the option to highlight key text and find your annotations. If the mobile version could do that, that would make it 100% better! Having to RE-find the important material that I highlighted already is time consuming.

That is my only problem’ (if you can call it that) with OpenStaxSE , otherwise, great job and thank you.

I got OpenStaxSE because of the massive headache trying to get the pdf to download, and not being able to get it directly to iBooks anymore. When you use OpenStaxSE , it doesn’t keep your page when you leave, so you have to make a mental note and then scroll back through the section just to find it. My iPad just keeps having issues with the way they do their PDFs now (never had an issue in the past) so I’m forced to read it on a tiny screen on my phone, or try and set my laptop up somewhere to read it.

This resource is great and it’s free. And it has saved me a lot of money!! Great job openstax. We appreciate the great work you’re doing. I made A’s in my A&P using your resource. Thanks to you no more cutthroat payment just to access codes for some of my courses.

Much easier to carry than paper copies. And with study helps too.

Looks nice when working, but rotating iPad causes a number of interface issues like images not scaling, the sidebar getting stuck on the side, and others. Also it seems hard to get out of a page and back to the home.

Very fast and responsive. Access to so many texts with videos...plus it’s free access to the books!

If only all college textbooks were free and on OpenStaxSE. i’m sure all professors will eventually use OpenStaxSE for all courses.

Love the website, but in some reason OpenStaxSE keeps logging me out every time I close OpenStaxSE ...

OpenStax has great books that be are worth paying a fee. For some courses like statistics the video content is very very helpful but at that price I guess it is not for every student anymore.

Does work well on the iPad, all the chapters don’t match. Example chapter 12.1 messy and missing information. NOT COMPLETE

I cannot read the all the information with full size of the book.
