On 05/14 I ordered at 2:05 pm thru MattoEspresso at 1553 second ave and after 15min my drink was still not ready. I had to wait 7 more minutes in the store. There was only one person serving apologizing to everyone for the delay. After grabbing my drink I ran away ‘cause I was parked at the bus stop, I order a new flavor Ice caramel shaken expresso to try and it was full of cinnamon. I’m still wondering if she made me the right drink.

Decided to try this place out because of the inexpensive price listed on the sign outside. 2.50 for anything? As long as you pay in app? I was sold. If you pay at the counter and order in-store, it’s 3.75. I set up the account on MattoEspresso which was cumbersome to start with. Didn’t have my credit card with me because in 2023 I should be able to pay with Apple Pay. App won’t let you order and pay in app without adding a balance but you have to manually enter your credit card details. I then had to order in the store and the baristas wouldn’t honor the in app price for a first time customer. Terrible customer service. Deleting app and never coming here again.

Every time they update MattoEspresso, they manage to make it worse. First they made it so you had to indicate details like temperature and milk type even for an order placed in person. Then they added advertisements. Oh, and also periodic nagging to rate MattoEspresso . I wasn't going to bother, but since you annoyed me so much, here goes. Enjoy the negative review

While the offers are attractive for ordering online it’s not for the person on the go. Their constant prompts and poor store selection section has at least twice left my order blocks away from the intended store and consequently the loss of that money. You have to check and recheck to make sure the order is not rerouted to a different store. And the time estimate is by product (1-2 minutes mostly) not the stores traffic which can add 15 minutes to their estimate. A complaint was unanswered. Not a customer friendly site.

Tried for over 30 min to add different cards with no success. Tried to use the form in MattoEspresso to tell them I couldn’t add a card and the form didn’t even work. I downloaded and redownloaded twice and logged out and logged in several times and it still hasn’t work. Extremely frustrating

Placed order on Saturday, not knowing location was closed. Money immediately taken from my account. Attempted to reach out to customer service, there is none, had to leave my issue as feedback. Money eventually put back in account. Takes several days to get response from feedback. No point in having a mobile app if it does not know when a location is closed.

MattoEspresso is difficult to work with. I’d like to use Apple Pay to pay for my order - not refill the balance on my account. It won’t let me refill for an increment <$10 which is annoying. Also the pop ups hide the buttons which is even more annoying.

Good coffee and great prices (cheaper when use MattoEspresso ), but an awful app (rating is just on MattoEspresso ). I repeatedly get an error message that I don’t have an internet connection when I go to select a location (despite definitely having internet). Every once in a while it will start working, and then MattoEspresso gets updated and it happens again. Please fix so I can enjoy your coffee again!

Before we could choose different coffee sizes and flavours for our coffees but now for some reason these are not available. Now you don't know what size your coffee is gonna be and can't add extra espresso shot either. Please, fix this

I was fine with the $0.50 price hike for the new year. What happened recently in the past month or so was that I noticed on my normal order of a Large Cappuccino, the size option wasnt available anymore.

Tried in some other drinks and it looks like some still have the option. Just kinda let down by this as I really just needed the 1 large for the day caffeine wise.

App works great for everything else, just wish they would mention all of the price / item changes to the menu in the updates.

Matto was a cheap and affordable place for good baked goods. Recently I’ve noticed their sizes shrinking & prices rising. I would appreciate if they would explain themselves rather than just change things up on loyal customers like myself. They still taste good but these change ups plus a so-so app that’s pretty basic I’m giving em a 3.

I love the marketing and price point. But please make MattoEspresso easier to use. Allow favorites for store locations or have MattoEspresso suggest the nearest store. This is annoying to use.

You need to buy $10 of credit in order to purchase goods. You also need to establish a fund threshold for reloading, which is a bit much and I’m not a fan of. I know it’s how they’re able to compete and compensate for the deals they have, along with attracting customers, but is still kinda buns in my opinion. The $3 deals are for real though, and the products are good and merit the buy-in needed to buy the food offered at discount. I would get this if you’re downtown a lot, seeing how the price inflation is absolutely nuts and this is the only reasonable café that serves quality for a good price. If you’re doing a group order, there should be no contest, go here. Shout-out to the staff at the location by the Museum of the Dog, very kind and clean store.

As stated, I order from the same spot every day, I hate having to choose it especially when Im on the bus all locations close to me show up and I have to scroll to find my store since it only starts to show as I get closer to my stop. This is fundamental !

I love their coffee, pretty much the best and can’t beat the value.
MattoEspresso needs improvements. It should allow me to save my most frequented store, as it is time consuming to mark the store each time.
Overall, thank you for bringing true Italian quality coffee at prices slightly higher than a bodega drip.

I’ve made Matto my go-to cafe thanks to its affordability. However, MattoEspresso definitely needs some upgrades, like favoriting your main cafe so you don’t have to scroll to find yours before every order, ordering your drink to go or for the cafe (I find it awkward getting my drink from the pick up window only to sit inside), paying with Apple Pay, and greater rewards options. Maybe even a referral?

I’ll continue being a Matto customer even without MattoEspresso upgrades, but it would be nice too.

I stumbled upon Matto Coffee a few weeks ago, and it's safe to say that it has quickly become my go-to coffee app. If you're a coffee lover, MattoEspresso is an absolute must-have!

This is the best designed food ordering app I’ve seen. Very smooth, very good graphics. Great ordering experience. Fast service. Cheapest and best tasting coffee, sandwiches, and baked goods I’ve found in all of NYC. Plastic wrapped sandwiches are kosher too (they apparently used to have a kosher symbol but they stopped paying for it). Just got a great sandwich and iced coffee and the total was still significantly less than one coffee at a place across the street ($4 total for both vs $5 for just an iced coffee across the street) - and the coffee at Matto is better. Also when you download MattoEspresso they automatically deposit $5 of credit right away, no strings attached. The coffee and sandwich mentioned above were literally free. Would give this place a sixth star if I could.

I downloaded MattoEspresso and got my order right away. It’s so much better then waiting in line, the coffee is amazing very fresh and great food for such good prices. By far my favorite coffee shop in NYC. Highly recommend downloading MattoEspresso makes finding location much easier and it’s very simple to use.

Visit 9th ave btw 45th and 46th, and have Misha make you the best drink you could possible ask for. This store is my new coffee go-to. Love me some Matto ◡̈
