I’m 13 years old. I’ve had a beautiful electrical drum set for about 1-2 years now. I got it for my birthday, after putting it on the top of my birthday list, contesting of 5 items. You can imagine my excitement when i go upstairs to find a drum set all set up, and ready for me, on the stair case. So after a few years of wanting to play it, but not knowing how, decide to go online. I go to a web-cite, and it recommended Musora. So i down load it, and make a password, put in my email, all Musora holding junk. I finally get almost done, and realize that i have to PAY (for a free download app!) either $40 a MONTH or $240 A YEAR. I understand that the developers need to make money, but COME ON! ALMOST $300 FOR A FREE DOWNLOAD APP?! I personally thing that is a ridiculous amount.
been with app over a year. wish i had read these reviews. got misled by overall 4.8 rating.
Musora freezes. practice feature jumps and freezes. constantly rebooting to get a lesson. no refunds … the support staff is ready not to help but apologize and blames my equipment that is 2024 new ipad and fiber high speed internet. great lessons poor app .. odd way to run a platform… the web version works perfectly…. but Musora doesnt even have songs .. only on the web version … but cant play piano on a laptop.
hope someone at this app reads this. but looking at dates of app being poorly designed … i doubt it will ever be righted.
First off, this review is not about the content of the application or this app as a product itself. The lessons are phenomenal and created by very talented instructors.
However, Musora is a bit lackluster. I don’t use anything mounted to my drum kit and prefer to play things on my Apple TV, however I am unable to actually AirPlay any video content to the TV. Instead, I primarily find myself using the website so I can actually watch the videos the way I like. However, the musical loops in the Drumeo section are pretty unusable on mobile web and then I have to fall back to Musora , and need to constantly switch inputs on my ekit’s Bluetooth input when playing along to lessons. It would would also be great to see this as an Apple TV app, but unfortunately they seemingly chose React Native as their development stack, so they would have to rebuild everyone to make an Apple TV app. I’m assuming this is also why I’m unable to AirPlay to anything through Musora because they use the Google chromecast SDK, which does not support AirPlay. Overall, Musora is kind of a bummer.
This review is about Musora and not the lessons themselves. I used drumeo daily and find it very helpful, but Musora experience is absolutely unacceptable.
Videos are constantly missing from recent lessons, it’s a piecemeal of things you’ve watched in the past few days rather than an actual history. Too many things you click on in Musora take you to the browser version instead, including songs which are no longer no longer supported in Musora (browser only). Musora is absolutely frustrating and ruins what is otherwise a good learning experience.
My biggest grievance is when I hit “Continue” to view challenges I was working on yesterday, they are completely absent from my history. I have to go searching for them to continue where I left off. This happens on the 30 day challenge when I’ve already completely numerous days of them. They just vanish from the history.
Musora is basically a terrible browser experience, it would almost be better to not have an app.
The songs (when they were available in Musora and now still in the browser) have some nice features as far as slowing down, highlighting notes etc, but it doesn’t remember your settings so if you have a preference for how to display, you have to reset it for every single song, every single time.
The lessons themselves are good, and there are lots of them. All that’s missing is a consistent app experience for them.
I’m enjoying the content and teaching style but I’m constantly interrupted by the bugs on Musora .
The video player buggy and prone to glitching, freezing, dragging, and crashing whenever you attempt to press the 15sec forward button or do trivial things like plug in headphones. Attempting to rewind the play head will turn the video into a laggy mess forcing a reboot of Musora .
When you come back into Musora and want to pick up where you left off from the Home Screen, good luck. The resume feature rarely works and usually drops you several lessons back. Occasionally I’ll open Drumeo and find it has forgotten all my progress and shows I have zero points and tries to start me at lesson 1.
Generally, navigation is miserable and unclear. It feels impossible to get a top-down view of a module’s lesson plan and I found myself trying to scroll through pages (to get back to where I was, of course), and felt like it was just shuffling and reorganizing practices instead of simply scrolling through the practices chronologically. I also accidentally downloaded some course materials trying to navigate on the video player screen, when I quickly pressing the available delete button the entire app crashed.
Just a brutal user experience, but thank god the variable speed settings work reliably on the video player.
I might actually recommend Drumeo if I weren’t constantly swearing at Musora.
Honestly, Musora itself is a 5/5. I use drums, guitar, and my voice. I’ve been drumming since Christmas 2022, here and there, making small progress, and when I started my free trial here, I was progressing at SUCH am increased rate.
I’ve hit a wall in guitar and lost the motivation, and since downloading, I’ve begun to pick ot up again.
The sheet music, the teachers, the methods, The different intrument options ALL GREAT.
The price even is very understandable considering there are MULTIPLE instrument to learn, and PLENTY of useful buttons. The only thing I find annoying,Is there is no one time payment.
Because it's expensive, I will have to make sure I have the money at all times AND i have to remember which is difficult with Adhd. It will end up putting me behind in payments. All around, I’d like a one-time payment option at a reasonable price so I do not end up in financial trouble.
Been a lifetime member for several years and was old when I signed up. Why? Because Drumeo has it ALL! And just when you think you have seen it all, there’s something new! The amount and quantity of content is absolutely amazing!
I could go on forever but I Wii say that if you are or want to become a drummer, this is your one-stop shop. You won’t be disappointed, rather you will shortly learn it was the best investment you ever made.
Just wanted you to know how much I am enjoying this piano course. I am just amazed at how much I am learning through your Methods lessons in just a couple of weeks. Lisa, your teaching method is exactly what I needed. I took lessons in grade school and a few years ago briefly so I have a basic background, however, the way you organized the methods class builds on what I already know. I’ve got a ways to go, but I’m on my way! Yolanda M.
Musora is incredible! It’s a fine complement to the desktop site, and I wish this type of tech and instruction existed when I was initially learning.
The content is fee-based (which is well worth it), but if you want a free taste, there’s literally 100s of hours of Drumeo You Tube content to check out before spending a cent. If you’re a serious hobbyist or student, you’ll want this.
Btw, the content, site/app functionality, and user experience show the passion these guys put into it. Very well done.
I was scared when I bought my electric drum set, I felt like I never had good rhythm my whole life & wasn’t sure if I could catch on, but thanks to Drumeo, I feel like i’m doing good for having never playing drums before. I love the lessons & that I can pause, rewind, slow them down until i’m more comfortable with what i’m doing.
The 30 day drummer course is a lot of fun & it’s only about 10 minutes a day.
The community on Musora is really encouraging & helpful too!
I love my Drumeo membership, they anticipate your needs and there is So Much to choose from, that sometimes I don’t even know where to begin. I finished my first module and already can play basic beats. I am learning about song structure, how lo active listen, music theory and the lessons are so much fun, and makes the learning experience extremely pleasant. The visual content is clear and colorful. If you want to learn how to pay drums, I highly recommend the Drumeo Method. Have fun!!!!!!
I have found this site to be just Awesome. Great coaches, Great courses, from working on the full kit to rudiments on the practice pad, to incorporating rudiments into fills on the kit. The forums are an awesome way to gather knowledge from other drummers with more experience, great people who are more then interested in helping and encouraging you. 30 Day drummer and 30 day chops have been just an eye opener for me. Chops has made me completely focused on my fills. 30 day drummer is a great foundation and I love messing around with implementing rudimental fills in Domino’s beats. 30 day independence is another Homerun… helping me with my focus which helping to learn drum parts to actual songs not just playing along with them in time. I retire from the carpenters union and plan on taking a full time position behind my kit working with Drumeo. Thanks for the endless amount of content, and the entertainment provided by the Drum Department. Great work!! Keep it up. Joe Christian. JC3344
I joined recently and I am really enjoying the lessons and listening to the awesome featured drummers. I took lessons when I was a kid, but wasn’t as committed as I should have been. Now that I am older, I am excited to start where I left off. I really like that you can customize a learning plan that makes sense for you. I wish that I had signed up earlier. Just went and purchased a set of Zildjian cymbals that I’ve wanted since I was a kid but couldn’t afford. This program has reinvigorated my love for drumming!
Been drumming for 40 years. Been a member for 1 year and have learned more than ever along with improving my skills. In January of 2021 they added the “Coaches” which are 11 iconic drummers who go live for 1 hour / week. You either join live or watch the video later.
The “Method” is a curriculum you follow that guides you through the learning process. Again, iconic drummers are the instructors. Who better than that! It is professionally produced with several camera angles for demonstrating.
The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Tech support is very good. Musora is evolving and they are constantly improving it. Look no further for an excellent app to learn or improve your drumming. Musora is free but there is a yearly fee to join & is well worth it. I highly recommend Musora and educational website.
Been drumming off and on for more than 2 decades and I wish I would have had this sooner. Better late than never! Total game changer! Not only do they have literally thousands of songs transcribed so you can follow along while the song is playing and you can isolate parts on those more difficult areas. But wait there’s more! You have access to hundreds of world class teachers, forums and online clinics. Well worth the money for anyone at any level of play. So glad I gave it a try!
I’ve tried to play drums twice before, felt impossible, but I really, really wanted to learn. I am so glad I found Drumeo. The quality of the lessons, both in terms of content and production far exceed expectations. I’ve taken piano lessons in person and virtual over the past few years, and I am blown away by how great of a job the Drumeo team has done here. Sign up now. And do the lessons, I learned so much from the set up steps as well. They start at literally zero and go into playing along with songs on provided tracks. I’m a couple months in, and I’m able to play along with rock songs, I’ve got a long way to go, but this is some of the most fun I’ve had playing music in my life.
After taking about a 20 year break from playing drums I started playing again. Got my pad out and started working on my rudiments. As I got back on the kit, I found myself struggling in certain areas. I decided to look into Drumeo. I wish this tool was available 30 years ago. It has been extremely helpful in in areas that I have struggled with. Also learning new genres. Search for a topic and there it is. I just started incorporating some metal into my playing. Aaron Edgar has been extremely helpful. I like the way he breaks it down. I love Drumeo. Happy to be part of the community! Highly recommended for any level.
This is a great tool for singers and musicians at the beginner, and intermediate level, but also be a tool for advanced students. There’s a method series for beginners and intermediate students that is fantastic, and there’s a ton of other content for any level like practice routines, special topics covered in detail and live classes… it’s a treasure trove. I’ve used it for vocal practice and it’s been an incredible resource to help me along my journey… from helping me find my voice to feeling more confident singing in a band. It’s been more helpful than in person voice lessons because it explains all the basics to help me build the foundation I need. Love it and can’t do without it…thanks to all the teachers and staff that make it possible.
I am a drummer so I use the Drumeo part of this app the most and it has really helped me. I drummed just a little bit before but I was just messing around most of the time. But once I got this app I felt and definitely noticed that my drumming was getting better. I have had it for just a few months, but in that short time, I have definitely seen improvement in my drumming. I also play the guitar, so the guitareo part of it is also helpful. They also have songs you can learn and play along to with drum less tracks. Would definitely recommend this for anyone who is interested, trying to get better, pick it up again, and/or someone that has been doing it for a while, whether it’s singing (singeo), drumming (drumeo), guitar (guitareo), and/or piano (pianote).
I purchased the 26 week IME lesson pack several years ago… 2017 or so. In any case, that was my intro to DRUMEO. Five years later, and I’m still all-in with DRUMEO, relying daily on my annual EDGE subscription to keep me learning and challenged!
The range of topics and instruction is off the charts comprehensive, there’s no way to out-learn what the DRUMEO gang keeps putting out there. What a great way to never stop leaning and improving.
So, while I still make use of and genuinely enjoy regularly working one-on-one, in-person, with a couple of drumming pros here in Denver, my ability to successfully incorporate their added knowledge and instruction into my drumming has everything to do with DRUMEO.
You guys are great, thank you Jared for making your knowledge and passion available at such a reasonable cost.
