IamsterdamCityCard needs a more reliable way of producing tickets for the metro. I’m missing the trains because it takes so long to load!
Update: This card has been more of an inconvenience than anything. I wish I would have never bought it and just paid tap-to-pay on everything. It would have been more convenient and cheaper.
Complete waste of money, avoid IamsterdamCityCard based card!
IamsterdamCityCard was working fine until I had to transfer a card to another device. I had 4 cards in total and I transferred ONLY 1, and it deleted one card off the main device which left me with 2 left WHEN I SHOULD HAVE 3 left. There is no direct customer support open right now and this is now ruining my trip here. This is ridiculous. GET the physical card to make sure you don’t run into any issues.
Likely better off using the physical cards. Lost access to two cards worth 170 euros with no clear way to request refund. App simply states that the cards have already been added to a device.
I purchased my city card on the website and when I got my card number to add to the mobile application it does not recognize the number and will not allow me to add a card that I’ve already paid for.
I looked into this and, at first, it seemed like a good idea. Turned out to be virtually useless. It’s not entirely clear HOW to use it as most reservations are not online. In many cases, there was no way to submit the card for discounts or reservations.
I would not recommend.
IamsterdamCityCard is trash. After paying for a card IamsterdamCityCard won’t activate it. It gives me a message saying “check your internet connection” even when I’m connected.
Ended up paying for some museums & buses which did not accept. Don’t recommend. Pay out of pocket instead.
Caveat: if you really spend time planning, it might work.
Does not work on public transport. SSL certificate for in-app links is 1 month expired.
App will not download 😡
App will not open to allow for use...I’ve removed it and re-downloaded several times, and it still crashes every time I attempt to open it.
It’s don’t work
We got the 5-day card. It has worked great for public transport, museums and the botanic garden, and the Lovers Canal cruise. But another canal cruise was no where to be seen (there was construction going on at the specified location for the 100 Highlights Cruise. Yet IamsterdamCityCard still highlights that cruise for me everytime I open it.
The Hermitage sent all of its Russian treasures back to Russia in light of Russia’s actions in Ukraine. You would not know that from IamsterdamCityCard description.
A couple of places had different hours than specified.
The ease of access to subways, trams and buses and the many free admissions gave this card great value and convenience. I wish it had a skip the line feature but several times we had to wait in line to get the card scanned and a ticket issued.
I had an issue not receiving the email but went to physical store and they took care of it.
Very helpful app, easy to use and navigate. I had no issues with getting it installed or set up.
Installed IamsterdamCityCard for my upcoming trip to Amsterdam. Nicely designed and very informative. It will help me during my stay.
