This isn’t a news station or even journalism. It’s just a sounding board for mayor Adler and actively working to rid the city of its established businesses and night life to make room for “Vibrant shopping and dining” Another short sighted tool for the real estate developers. It’s going to be a shame when Austin has lost all of the character that made it a great and different kind of city, and then all of the imported people and businesses will just pack up and head to ruin the next trendy place. And now even worse, the station is actively ignoring shootings and robberies in the city to keep voters from voting yes on prop a. To call these people journalists is a joke. I know conservative narratives are a problem as well, but anyone involved with KVUE should be ashamed and have any degree they have associated with journalism revoked.

You can’t do anything anymore on this new app without watching an ad. KVUE was my favorite source of local news until the app changed. I’m going to have to switch to KXAN. Their app is still the old format where it was easier to get to everything. With this new app, the “Watch” at the bottom of the app is not intuitive. Then half the time when you click on it, it crashes. And then when it does happen to work, don’t click on anything because you’ll get an ad. As a software developer myself I am appalled at how little planning went into the layout of this app. :-(

Being forced to watch multiple 30-second ads for a 1-2 minute video is absurd, and at least half the page for each article is devoted to ads. You can get the same news elsewhere 3-4 times in the same amount of time it takes on here. The app is also painfully slow and often stalls out with no easy way to return to an article you were reading. The experience makes it painfully obvious that the goal is to milk you for revenue, as opposed to delivering the news.
