Kernel is awesome! I’ve had it for about 5 months now, and it keeps getting better! The new update is awesome as well!

I always had a hard time finding when movies could come out, so that’s why I got this app, but this app also gives me reviews, future movies coming out, movie news and much more!

Being able to look at the cast is always nice, but I’d also like to see some kind of rating when you click on a movie (like a this app Rating, or what this app thinks of the movie) but not every movie. Also being able to sort future movies by genre would also be pretty cool!

I really like Kernel. I use it for all the movie stuff and I like getting updates about new developments in movies. However, so much of Kernel is unpolished. I constantly have to restore my purchase of premium, the dates for movies are constantly incorrect and sometimes movies will show up twice on my watchlist at different release dates. Also the writing is abysmal. The reviews especially looks like someone just rushed a bunch of words together and didn’t read it over before publishing. Some sentences can range from flawed to straight up unreadable. I can tell that there’s a real passion for movies from the creators of Kernel but please smooth out your kinks and issues.

I don’t write many reviews. I have to say though Kernel is really nice! I am a huge movie buff! I love how u can set up when to be reminded of upcoming movies. Only suggestion for a future update if possible is being able to add friends. So you two can have like a separate section or something so you and your friend can have the same reminder and set up like a day to see the movie. Hopefully that makes sense. Anyways I am on a iPhone X and runs smoothly. Thanks developers!

However, I’d say something that can be improved is that the movie should automatically been removed from the watch list after a certain time. I have to manually do that by myself every now and then and it can get annoying.

Kernel is great! Love the blog and the ability to track movies coming out. One feature I wish Kernel had was the ability to add movies I’ve watched. So once I see a movie and can say that I’ve watched in Kernel . Otherwise Kernel is sweet!

Kernel is something I never knew I needed until I saw it. It’s an excellent way to track upcoming movies and get reminders when they are ok’ing soon. Then it tracks digital and physical release dates! Absolutely incredible for keeping track of movies I want to see. HIGHLY recommend Kernel!

I usually never write reviews for anything but I’ve been using Kernel for about a week now and I just had to write one. The design is sleek, clean and easy to use. Very accurate and up to date on movies (digital and cinematic). Overall if you love movies I would 100% recommend this app.(:

I would love a previously watched list separate from the upcoming watch list so you can keep track of previous movies that you've seen without cluttering the main home page.

I really like Kernel but the notifications have not been working for me.

Kernel does everything I need it to, and the Apple Watch support is a great touch. I’ve been looking for an alternative to Flixster for a long time, and I finally found it. Fantastic functionality, and the UI is awesome!

-I’m a huge fan of movies and enjoy going to theaters to see them.
- Kernel has helped me find new movies to want to watch, and helps me to know how long the wait is till they come out.

Kernel went from completely awesome to completely useless overnight as they removed all historical releases from Kernel for no apparent reason. More specifically, while you used to be able to see all movies recently released, now it only shows movies which are going to be released in the future. Why on earth would you limit the capability of Kernel like this?

I love Kernel, tells me good info, and nice blogs. I wish there was more haptic feedback when you click on a movie. It could be a on-off option for those who dislike it.

Kernel is so useful and easy to use. The layout is simple and intuitive! I love the features! Everyone should have Kernel of their phone!

This is one of my best apps for phone and watch, I really enjoy using it.
If they just could add tv shows and anime it will be perfect.

Kernel is amazing. But the Watch app is lagging, it doesn’t show the full information. Can you guys fix it.

Very good. When I want to see if a movie is coming soon or is planned, this is my place, I have my watchlist on my Apple Watch

I love Kernel! Having the countdown feature and the official trailers all in one place is awesome! I love being able to add movies to my watchlist!

Used to use Kernel when I was watching lots of movies. Got back into the habit but can no longer use Kernel. App crashes as soon as I open the “coming soon” tab. Tried to use the contact support button in app but it doesn’t do anything.

Wish it was easier to use as an episode calendar I wish it had a way to add a show to a watching list and have an easier way to mark off shows you’ve watched already and maybe a more obvious calendar of these shows are coming up that you watch

I really like having an app to track movies and shows I’ve watched or want to watch etc, BUT I really don’t like that within folders you create you cannot search and it’s not in alphabetical order which would help at least somewhat with the search. I have a folder that I’ve added 400+ movies to but I can’t exactly go find things within it because of those issues.

App is clean but lacks any real features other than a movie feed. It’s great if that’s all you need, but things like the coming soon feed is inconsistent.

All this being said, I could see Kernel being really useful if they continue down the path of not collecting data. In its current state, the solution they’re offering has already been integrated into other services like Plex and Letterboxd so unfortunately I don’t have a use for Kernel. I hope that changes.

Love Kernel - thank you Nikias! Developer - would love the ability to do the following to make it 5⭐️ - ability to add a note for each show/movie and be able to sort playlists manually.

The only thing that’s really annoying about Kernel is that every time I track an episode of a show I watch it kicks me out of that season. Also I think there should be a way to check off if you’ve already watched a full season of a show. Lastly I think there should be a section for feedback of the show and maybe favorite characters.

Overall love the Apple aesthetic to Kernel. Simple to use and personally excited where Kernel will continue to improve on. Looking forward to using Kernel for movie recommending and categorizing my favorite films and tv series.

Given that Apple can’t even offer a way to create movie and show playlists in IOS I was intrigued by the advertised ability of Kernel to create playlists but despite owning movies and shows from Apple and creating and adding some of these titles into a this app app playlist I find Kernel doesn’t “play” any of them. So call these lists but certainly not a playlist.

I love the layout and simplicity of the UI. It is absolutely beautiful and feels like an Apple Developed App. I do have a suggestion. Can we rate the movies in Kernel ? Maybe even have ratings from famous critics like Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb, etc?

I really enjoy how easy it is to search for movies and add them to your favorites list. It’s nice to have a list of movie release dates for just the movies your interested in.

I think a great improvement to Kernel would be to make use of the new widgets added in iOS 14. I would like to add that to my Home Screen to see the next movie coming out on my list and how many days are left until it’s release.

A really good app but need more functionality, maybe we can rate movie, suggestions to find a movie to watch, collaborative playlists and much more.

This is a genuinely amazing app. I had been looking for an app/movie tracker like this for so long, and this is probably the best thing I’ve ever used. Playlists are such a great idea, and the user interface is pretty OK. There’s a bit of choppiness, and the buttons sometimes don’t make all the best of sense. Like, if I’m finding out where to watch it, I’d like to have it open Kernel when I tap it. The main thing I wanted to mention though was there’s a weird bug with Upcoming—I can’t remove movies that have already released! Like, at all. They’re just stuck there, and I can’t get rid of them. Otherwise, great app: definitely worth the download

I used to love Kernel. It was a great way to keep track of what movies are coming up that I want to catch in theaters.

Ever since one of the later updates, Kernel went downhill for me very quickly. You are no longer able to sort chronologically, and most of all I cannot figure out how to configure notifications anymore. I used to be able to set when I want to be notified of new releases I am tracking, which was extremely helpful. Now this feature seems nowhere to be found. What happened? Please add these features back!

…and that’s the pop-up that appears every single time I open Kernel , letting me know notifications are off. It happens EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Why? I know I turned them off, and even then, I’d know they were off because of the constant reminder. Uninstalled immediately.

Super useful to track movie playlists and where to find them. The more streaming apps you have access to, the more useful Kernel is! I previously used several web sites to find where I could stream movies I was looking for. Kernel has been way more accurate. I agree with some of the suggestions made for tweaks and improvements the devs could implement to make Kernel even better, but it is super usable as-is. Thanks for a great app!

Could you also make Kernel for Apple TV? Keep up the great work!

One more thing: you can sort movies & shows by popular or coming soon… Could you make it so the coming soon section is sorted by soonest to farthest away? Currently, the coming soon section is all jumbled, some coming in 4 days, some in 124, and as you keep scrolling, there is no rhyme or reason to the order.

Great app I like the design but I tried creating a Christmas movie list and wish there were similar genres and categories of movies listed in the search menu so I can see popular horror movies or holiday movies and such. The banners at the top of the pages feel a bit small. The font overlay on them sometimes makes it hard to read or feels uncomfortable to read. Making the banner bigger and the font below or a gradient to the text instead of text on top of image, a little bit more separation would be nice. Also in the movies I would scroll down almost by habit to see reviews and director info and the trailer and was disappointed when nothing appeared as I scrolled. Saw the buttons which were nice but I saw the description and it told me to “read more” and I clicked on it and nothing more was shown. I already use letterbox as a similar app for this. If Kernel could have the features and reviews of letter box but with this UI, it would be an amazing app that I would switch to. But for now it’s a good app with great design but missing features and UX. Hopefully these changes can be added in future updates!

I have been wanting an app like this for some time. Just an easy way to track what I’ve seen and what I want to watch. Love the playlists feature and the simplicity of Kernel .

My only suggestion is to add a like or dislike option for movies and shows. Great app. Please keep up the great work!
