AmpUp is an app that makes EV charging easy by enabling building and property owners to provide charging for their residents, workers, or people just passing by. The app allows users to find chargers nearby or on their route, see if they are available, and even reserve them ahead of time. Users can pay using a credit card or with a card in their phone’s wallet, and save their payment method so they can charge quickly and easily on any of AmpUp’s thousands of chargers. Each charger host sets the prices and policies for their chargers, and AmpUp makes the policies and pricing transparent for drivers. The app also allows users to remotely monitor their charging session and get notifications when their session is done.

One star because while on the phone with tech support because of a glitch preventing me from charging at any station, the tech asked me to text them my login credentials including password. This is completely unacceptable.
AmpUp is ok when it’s not glitching. This particular issue prevented me from charging for 15 hours until I finally got ahold of tech support (they don’t seem to reply to the send a message feature). Tech support was nice enough when I finally reached them and followed up multiple times trying to help which was appreciated. But they need to be trained to not ask for passwords and apparently need better tools on their end to help customers.

this app is an improvement when it comes to finding a charging station, whether it’s a level 1, level 2 or level 3, have not had an issue finding a place to charge.

This review is based on my expedite with charging, I live near the HQ of this app and was using their charger for charging tesla pricing and function was great until this app started blocking these chargers in their HQ for public access with no notice. I tried contacting them from email and contact number but looks like they don’t have support in place to pickup call or respond. These chargers stay empty all the days! Was dependent on them. Just Make it clear if these chargers can be used by public or not instead of playing with customers.

We have 2 charging stations at the office. Been using this app for both. It's been very helpful to be able to manage the chargers vs before when we had no way to control usage.

Absolutely love this!! As soon as you fire up AmpUp , you could locate chargers around you. Right away I can see the type of charging station, the charger’s level and if it’s free or if rentable. You can reserve it with a quick click......love it.

AmpUp is useful when you’re out and about and can’t find any nearby chargers. The UI is pretty slick and reminds me of how the maps look on a Tesla in dark mode. Will continue to use!

Still needs some improvements, but AmpUp is going to address some of the major pain points that have plagued the EV owners for so long now. Forget about range anxiety.

I just moved jobs a few weeks ago and couldn’t use my normal EV charger anymore. AmpUp let me find one just up the street. Really helpful.

Tried to use a charging location with this company. It doesn’t work. Was on the phone for 15 minutes with service team. They couldn’t get it to work.
If you really need to charge your vehicle use another company as their technology won’t work when you need it to.

I saw AmpUp advertised as “better than PlugShare”, and I was curious about the feature that allows you to reserve a charger. It manages to have more chargers than some EV apps out there, but no more so than PlugShare, and the only chargers you can reserve are home chargers listed through AmpUp. There might be a use in that, but I don’t think I will be using it much. The killer for me is how buggy it is. Clicking on any station for more details about the location caused an error, and several screens would not load until I quit AmpUp and launched it again.

I had an issue with the mobile app, but I reached out to the team and their team responded immediately with great support. I’m a huge fan and Tom was very helpful. He let me know I could start remote charging my car with a button from AmpUp and it worked!!

I've switched over from Plugshare to AmpUp. This this app app aggregates so many public chargers and their status it's amazing. Navigation takes you right to them, very convenient. I'm going to try one of their reservable chargers next.

It is convenient to see all charger location and status on the same screen. Haven't try to reserve a private charger but a friend said it is nice for him.

I tried reserving a residential charger twice and received no reply from the host both times. All it said was reservation pending. PlugShare is so much easier to use and the hosts actually reply. They also have more useful information about public chargers. Save yourself some time and get a more useful app.

The toggle to take my charger offline does not work. My charger remains online. My attempt to delete my charger results in an error message. And there's no in-app support function to contact the company. Come on guys - get it together.

YUCK. AmpUp will not be the forerunner.
Choosing your vehicle is like looking at a bunch of pick-up sticks: no sequence, no order, and one line per year, make & model, with LOTS of chaotic lines of car descriptions to scroll through, and clearly not every car.
Electrify America is almost entirely missing. ChargePoint chargers are blatantly missing.
I might use AmpUp as a last ditch effort when I’m having serious range anxiety.
Overall, YUCK.

This is the worst EV charging stations and apps. My company misguidedly installed 2 bays (4 chargers) of AmpUp charging stations. They have been problematic from the start. Work one day, not the next or work for some cars, but not others. If we are lucky, the charger would work 2 days out of 5. more than a year installed, the stations just sit mostly empty. my co-workers and I stopped using them. why bother, it won't work or work for 5 minutes and we would get a notification on the app that something happened and charging had stopped. Sometimes, we haven't even made it to inside the building, we would get the notification charging had stopped. Never had issue with charging with Chargepoint and EvoCharge, so I know it isn't our cars.

We have been having problems charging ever since 4 stations were installed. It is so moody that it would charge one day, but not the next. In the past 3 weeks, it had worked a total a less than 5 days. It would charge for a minute or two, then it would suspend charging. Yesterday it charged without issue. Today, none of the stations would work, can't even get them to start charging. Bad install or just a lousy system? I had asked work to install Chargepoint, but the AmpUp was chosen. So far not impressed with the reliability. I do have to say their suppost had been quick to respond. I emailed them last week, and someone got back to me within 24 hours to try to troubleshoot, but it didn't work. They were supposed to contact my company's point person and the electrician to come out to check and to resolve this problem. But the product itself is a 1 1/2 star compared to my home charging and charging everywhere else.
