Not up to Holland’s Standards

HollandAmericaLineNavigator has a lot of potential but it is very clunky and hard to navigate. It’s like the built an app around a web page and not a stand alone app. Examples: *I should log into HollandAmericaLineNavigator and not have to retype my log in again period. *There is no direct link to my planned trips unless I navigate thru three menus. *The doesn’t have a logical flow based on users and how people plan trips. It just takes you where folks want you to go spend money. *Some menus and navigation paths match how you just navigate the Holland Desktop site. *If you have multiple cruises there is no way to toggle between them on the first screen. I just don’t feel this is a finished product that was tested with real users. It feels like an older app design where they tried to cut corners by leverage existing infrastructure. I love Holland and really love bragging about cruising with them. Sadly, I can’t brag about HollandAmericaLineNavigator until it’s really brought up to their shipboard standards.

Great way to stay connected!

I love HollandAmericaLineNavigator ! Excursions, what’s happening on board etc. My only reason for 4 ⭐️ instead of 5 ⭐️ is there seems to be no volume or notification setting for incoming chat messages ? I’m not going to “watch” HollandAmericaLineNavigator 24/7 so a regular notification would be amazing. (But might be operator error? MY fault? But I’ve looked everywhere in HollandAmericaLineNavigator .

Chat feature is not usable on iPhone

I found a typo in the description of the Amsterdam where it said “ stunning astrolabe. While on board, njoy regional cooking”
and i believe it should say “enjoy”. I tried to use HollandAmericaLineNavigator ’s chat feature to let them know, but every time I click inside the text field and enter a character, the keyboard disappears. It also is not formatted for a phone. The page is too large, requiring zooming in and then panning left and right, up and down just to read what’s on the screen. I hope other parts of HollandAmericaLineNavigator function better.
Also, after installing, I rebooted my phone and tried to login, but I repeatedly got an error that I didn’t have internet connection. I definitely did. I went through part of the process to sign up again, cancelled that at the end, then tried to login again and was finally successful.

Not Great

I have booked my first cruise and am using HollandAmericaLineNavigator for planning - so no cruising experience with it yet, but I have some complaints: Often the things I’ve booked already (dining and excursions) don’t show up under My Itinerary. If you go back and forth between HollandAmericaLineNavigator and another app it will log out. It will let you click a button to book excursions but doesn’t load - you have to do it on a computer. When you look at an excursion then go back to the list it restarts at the top of the list as opposed to where you left off. And there’s also no sorting or filtering on the excursions list.

Would be 5 stars but …

Does not include spa appointments which makes it mostly worthless for me. I could not find a way to add them to my daily itinerary either. HollandAmericaLineNavigator has been around for a while and I know this complaint has been registered in the past. One other complaint is that the itinerary keeps jumping back to the top of the daily list making it impossible to copy. Please, fix these complaints!

Buggy issues are frustrating

Looks nice and is easy to navigate, but updating information is buggy. It doesn’t always save, doesn’t always let you click in the right box. Then it will freeze up and you can’t do anything. Very frustrating. Holland America is a major corporation: their app should work way better than it does.

Needs work

HollandAmericaLineNavigator can be a handy adjunct to the cruise experience. On line ordering for dive in and my pizza is a plus. Preview of restaurant menus is also useful in planning. In advance of sailing, app incorrectly listed dress for all days as smart casual. Integration with VeriFLY was poor and that whole experience was time-consuming and frustrating

Language Choices Screwed Up

I’d love to book another cruise with Holland-America, but HollandAmericaLineNavigator has complicated things to the point of giving up. I am an American in Spain, preferring to use English. HollandAmericaLineNavigator immediately appears in Spanish, and the “Idioma” option is of no use - it indicates two language option selections simultaneously at the “Idioma” buttons when only one should be indicated: if English is chosen from the previous Spanish indication, the language choice remains Spanish. And so HollandAmericaLineNavigator is useless.

Not compatible with iPad

I like having the Navigator app but it is really not compatible with iPads when using a keyboard. HollandAmericaLineNavigator does not natively rotate to landscape mode when using a keyboard. This would be a real good improvement if you could do that.

App fine, onboard Internet abysmal

HollandAmericaLineNavigator has lots of potential not only for finding services, but also for contact tracing. Unfortunately our cruise has chronic issues with Internet DESPITE paying a premium for streaming service for 4 devices. When doing speed tests 10mbs was the fastest I ever saw - and that was only IF it would work.
Between leaky plumbing, yellow and orange tap water, cold cabins, mediocre food, and compulsive tipping, the cruise was not what it could - and should have been.

Good but could be better!

I like having HollandAmericaLineNavigator but can’t trust it to be accurate for all our itinerary. When I log onto the actual Holland website it shows more information such as our dining reservations…HollandAmericaLineNavigator shows ‘nothing yet’ which is bothersome :(

Great info but not always intuitive

Love being able to see events in advance, menus, and drink lists. But sometimes hard to figure out how to find something

Invalid Datetime

HAL said to use HollandAmericaLineNavigator , and now less than an hour before I’m supposed to get on this cruise instead of showing my boarding pass it’s showing invalid datetime! HollandAmericaLineNavigator doesn’t show any of the excursions or dining reservations I’ve booked (yet?) either. There’s something really wrong with this thing that never should have made it into customers hands.

App is Getting Better

HollandAmericaLineNavigator was very good unpredictable before the actual cruise. For example at about 5:30 yesterday evening HollandAmericaLineNavigator said we were sailing in 6 hours and 28 minutes.

Please fix it ASAP!

I’m currently on a HAL cruise and have been using HollandAmericaLineNavigator without a problem…until I updated it. Now when I click on “my itinerary” it closes HollandAmericaLineNavigator . I can’t see what activities I have planned, when the ship is scheduled to port or what time “all aboard” is. Very inconvenient in the middle of a cruise. Please fix it ASAP!

Can’t sign on

I have downloaded HollandAmericaLineNavigator but have not been able to sign on. I have tried several different things like using the mariner number email and changed my password several times and all I get is an error saying try again later. I have been trying again later for weeks now.

App is helpful, takes some effort to navigate. Type should be bigger and bolder
Would be helpful to have more details on the music options and venues. The dining options should show hours of operation

Great company and love their cruises and staff.
However….. their app and website is pathetic! Don’t even bother to use. Simply just call them if you want to have less hassles. I tried to change my email and mailing address in HollandAmericaLineNavigator and on the web and it took hours of trying thinking it was me. Holland America please hire some better IT people!

The fleet map is gone! Bummer. During this time when we can’t sail, I loved seeing where my favorite ships were. Can you bring it back? Thank you.

Navigator app for Holland America Eurodam

When trying to get into HollandAmericaLineNavigator you click on it and it tries to come up for a second then shuts right off. We have deleted HollandAmericaLineNavigator and started over. Before that we tried booting the whole phone but nothing seems to work. What else should we do to get it to come up.

Terrible!!!

I have used onboard apps for other cruise lines and they worked great. HollandAmericaLineNavigator is worthless. It constantly says I am not connected to the internet even though other apps on my phone are working. It constantly says I need to sign in again but it will not bring up the sign in page. Extremely frustrating and time consuming.

Unreliable Onboard Connectivity

Connectivity to the onboard wireless was unreliable, which hampered communication with other members of our party. The lack of notifications also renders the Chat function of minimal value. All the users to whom we talked were frustrated throughout the cruise.

Horrible App, sorry I booked

Don’t bother until you’re on the ship, despite what HollandAmericaLineNavigator says! It doesn’t work. Can’t even find my booking and we’re cruising in two weeks. Guess I won’t be spending any money on extras!

Getting there

Just got off 2nd cruise using HollandAmericaLineNavigator. It would be helpful to have access before the cruise. Mostly a notification when a message comes through. It is silent so you have to look at HollandAmericaLineNavigator constantly to see if some has sent a text/chat. They have improved the info to sign on in the cabin and are very helpful at the desk. Personalized notifications would be helpful ie: mariners lunch or club orange events.

App is useless until you are on board. Booked cruise doesn't show up and tells me to log in first despite showing me logged in.

Why only one?

Your app does a lot of good stuff but seems to freeze every time I add an event to my itinerary.

Killing the task gets it going again but it’s a major fail.

Navigator app has not been working for days, just displays a HA splash screen and the goes blank. Same issue on android and apple devices after reloading app and rebooting device.

First time cruising with Holland america . And I'm not even on board yet and this navigator app has such issues that it has me pissed and frustrated . My time is valuable to me and the Amount I've waisted leaves me to wonder about the rest of the cruise line . Who ever Engineered this app should be fired and start over . I can't believe how buggy it is you can finish any task .I hope the ship's Navigation Ability works better

Navigator App on my mobile is showing Boarding Passes for my wife and daughter instead of me. Raised issue in Email sent on 26 May 2022 and received automated reply that I should Receive a reply within 24 hours. Despite sending a reminder on 28th May I, have still not had a reply.Very disappointed in Holland America with whom I have been on several cruises but fear that this may show a deteration on past excellent service.
