I like the concept and the layout is not bad.
However there seem to be a few issues.
1. I am unable to post original content, only what others have already posted.
2. Now that my account is set up, I skipped putting in a profile pic, I can change nothing. I have no discernible way to change my profile picture and I am stuck with the default.
3. I was able to add new topics but it is not intuitive at all. If you did not add a topic on setup, you are ridiculously limited to three, you need to add a topic or when posting a article you are limited to choosing the topics you picked.
Those are my top three complaints. Two are serious issues and render Moptu “broken” for me and are non starters. The profile picture is just an inconvenience.
As I said I like the concept and real hope for a platform that accommodated free flow of ideas and debate, however not being able to post original content is a huge issue. The smaller detail should have been worked out by now but are not.
Hopefully things improve, I would love too see this concept take wings .

this app is great! I got fed up with Facebook and Instagram a while back because it just seemed like a constant stream of selfies and time-wasting junk. Here you can actually be exposed to intelligent articles posted by people with similar interests. I mostly use it for arts and culture, but friends who are more political than I am tell me it’s an excellent forum for reading and discussions about current hot issues—and no one gets banned or censored. Kind of a big deal these days!
I highly recommend you try it. It’s new, but it’s extremely well designed and easy to use.

I love Moptu! I really appreciate that the news is curated by the users and not by some algorithm that slants what I see based on the articles I tend to read. I feel like this app takes freedom of the press to the place it should be and I like seeing articles come up in my feed or on the home page that allow me to see diverse interests and opinions.
I also think Moptu is very user friendly and visually appealing and it helps me organize my own articles by category so that I can find them again later.

As of today, Nov 4, 2020. The feed is blank, “No articles found”. Yesterday it was fine. I’m using an iPhone 11, iOS 14.1 and WiFi. This happens in every category I have tried. Otherwise, although I am very new to this app, I’m liking it.
By the way, why the name this app? Does it stand for anything?

Moptu is okay. However it’s extremely flawed constantly crashes and closes randomly, can’t sign up due to constant crash, has constant server communication issues. Devs please fix! Using 2020 iPhone SE on IOS 14.1

Apple is doing everything they can to suppress Moptu. Crashes every time I try to sign up. Get message I’ve never gotten before. “App is having trouble communicating with our servers”. Right.

Was excited to use Moptu once I read about it in an article. Unfortunately it hasn’t loaded once correctly. It CRASHES every time I try to use Moptu . So far I can’t get past the account setup. Crashes each time mid enrollment.
I’ll try again tomorrow......
