Awful experience

I contacted Blueberry because my baby had some skin irritation on a Sunday and I wanted to know what I could do to make her more comfortable. I expected to hear something about cleansing the area or dressing her in different clothes for a day.

The Blueberry doctor told me my infant had a potentially life-threatening infection and needed to go to the ER immediately, where I should expect her to be admitted to the hospital for several days of IV antibiotics. Cue total panic. Thank goodness I called the actual pediatrician after-hours before taking the Blueberry doctor’s advice! It was normal, benign swelling that went away on its own overnight. I cannot imagine the horror of the situation that would have ensued if I had taken the Blueberry doctor at her word. My baby could have been unnecessarily exposed to all the pathogens in an emergency room, separated from her family and treated with antibiotics for no reason. I would probably be starting my life as a parent with tens of thousands in unnecessary medical debt.

I understand being extra concerned about a baby, but this was a terrifying overreaction to a totally normal situation. I canceled my membership. I have no confidence in this service’s ability to provide advice or a diagnosis for my child. I guess all these five star reviews are from people with older children or something. I don’t think it’s a good service for babies, in my experience.

Beware, do not use Blueberry Pediatrics!

My two-year-old had a fever and then an ear infection. I had to send in over four videos of her ear and none of it was sufficient. I waited an entire day talked to two different pediatricians and still was not prescribed amoxicillin which I know is exactly what she needs. This has been my first time using BlueberryPediatrics . I’ve had it for about a year. After this experience, I immediately canceled my membership. Nobody was helpful. Nobody used common sense. Everything took way too long and nobody really seemed to care about the fact that I needed antibiotics for my two-year-old who has had a fever for more than two days. I would definitely recommend not purchasing this, not subscribing to this and going to a traditional doctor whether or not it means paying more or not. This does not work!

Expect Wrong advice or no advice - huge disappointment

I guess I should’ve set my expectations much lower for blueberry. My first time using it, I messaged with a video of my daughters cough and details About it. Wasn’t asking for treatment, just information to start. The doctor immediately said we would need antibiotics. That didn’t fell right for the situation, and after seeing a ped the next day, it definitely wasn’t. Second time using it, again was asking for general info on what to expect/do with a child who is vomiting overnight. I mentioned that she was currently sleeping in between episodes. When a ped finally replied after hours of waiting, they said “If she’s still feeling bad start a new visit” - as if sleeping meant she was all better? I can’t seem to get general info (which is what BlueberryPediatrics says the chat is for), and responses take hours. I canceled my subscription. I’ll use our ped’s after hours nurse line (or google even!) instead.

Good in theory, poor in practice

Having worked in healthcare I’m an advocate for concierge-style service especially for pediatrics. This review is NOT about the providers on the platform. However, upon first use of Blueberry we were disappointed in app-usability and time until service (60+ minutes). We figured we’d use our first time on a weekend for a straightforward fever. The UI of BlueberryPediatrics is pretty but very difficult to navigate and you frequently lose progress when you need to go make changes, thus having to re-enter information and waste time. I would highly recommend anyone who gets set up to immediately do a “visit” to get a feel for the platform so as to not waste time when you really need service. First experience took over an hour to speak with a physician of which we could have just done walk-in to Urgent Care (which they ended up recommending we do anyways).

Waste of money

I’m lucky that I did not pay for BlueberryPediatrics myself. We got a 1 year membership as a gift at our baby shower and thought it was an awesome concept. I have been disappointed every time I use it. It takes hours and sometimes days for them to reply back to messages sent and then instead of it being a steady conversation after they finally do reply it takes hours for them to respond back after you answer their previous message. Sometimes the doctors will even switch mid conversation. Also after they ask a few questions they give very vague answers with no real solution. Every time I’ve asked anything i’ve just been told to monitor it. How is that helpful?
Also for the video visits there’s hoops to jump through to start the visit. I wanted a visit for my 1 month old at the time (now 4 months) and before I could start the visit they wanted me to get her oxygen saturation and a picture of the back of her throat which I had no way of doing accurately. It’s Very frustrating and I will not be renewing the membership when it’s time.

Waste of money

I loved this service for a few years. It was helpful for when my son would get an ear infection after a cold which happens pretty regularly. Recently, though, my son has had two ear infections that the Blueberry pediatricians wanted me to “wait out.” The first time I accepted it could have been situational that it worsened and urgent care treated, however, last night when I used the otoscope on my son’s ear, I could see that his right ear was red and very irritated. The Blueberry provider stated his ears were healthy. His fever was worse this morning so I brought him into urgent care. Not surprising- he had a pretty nasty ear infection that should have been treated when I had it looked at initially. I am disappointed that this happened twice now, so I canceled my subscription today. I understand that antibiotics are not always warranted, and tend to be overprescribed, but I think context matters and each kid is different and should be treated accordingly.

We love this app & service

We have just begun our second yearly subscription to Blueberry. It is an amazing supplement to our pediatrician. Our school district has a policy where kids need to stay out of school until they are 24 hours without fever but don’t trust parents to excuse absences (they are counted as unexcused). Kids get so many illnesses and we are finding post-COVID illnesses are another level! When I have a sick kid we get him comfortable and input symptoms (we have the kit and tests for strep, covid and flu), then wait. Sometimes the wait is longer because everyone is sick and sometimes it is quick but my child can rest or take a bath at home while waiting for the doctor. And I can work from home, while waiting. The docs never rush on the phone, they sometimes ask for videos or additional information. When my child had pneumonia, they told us to go to urgent care for an X-ray. We did but they also helped manage the time between those urgent care visits so he was comfortable and healed quickly. I love that we don’t need to wait for visits for meds, or go to a germy waiting room when the answer is simple. And we get doc notes for school so his illness absences are counted as such. They send in prescriptions when needed, confirm receipt, then tell you when it is ready. They make having a sick kid so much easier for busy parents. Blueberry cannot do it all but what it does, saves time and money and we could not be happier!

Layout of the app is simple and the care is exceptional

BlueberryPediatrics is easy to navigate. The doctor we spoke to was extremely knowledgeable, and kind. She continued to follow up with us to make sure her fever was going down and helped answer all my questions. I love the 24/7 service!! We used this at 2am since the pediatrician was unavailable and I didn’t want to take her to the ER if I didn’t have to. I’m so grateful for this resource. It gave me the peace of mind I needed and a clear understanding of the next steps to help my daughter feel better. 10/10 would recommend!!!

Wow! Just wow!

I am so beyond impressed with Blueberry Pediatrics. My son started vomiting at bed time and I thought it was from over eating. Turns out it was not- he began throwing up all night. I submitted a “Visit” around 5:45 am with my sons symptoms. By 6:00 am a doctor was on the phone with me. Not just any doctor but an educated, thorough, asks the right questions kind of doctor. It’s now 6:10 am, a prescription has already been called in for my son, I have a school excuse for him for the day, and I didn’t have to wake my children up to drag them to the doctor for what took 5 minutes at home. Hands down the best money I have ever spent.

Best thing since sliced bread!!!

I have literally told all my friends about BlueberryPediatrics I am blown away by the difference in care. This should be the standard for ALL healthcare needs. I literally just had a licensed pediatrician call me at midnight and let me know my son is ok and I submitted videos of his breathing that was concerning to me. As a first time mom, having BlueberryPediatrics saves me a lot of headaches and every encounter so far has been so patient. They respond literally within 30 mins to address my concerns and even have my prescription ready to be sent to the pharmacy for my son. All of this from the comfort of my home! I will have BlueberryPediatrics for as long as my son is allowed to use it!!

Best money ive ever spent!

This service is worth every penny. You can contact a pediatrician 24/7 they are very responsive and helpful. My son has had several ear infections or other illnesses and of course symptoms start at night or on the weekends. Being able to get an appointment within 30 mins of requesting and getting prescriptions called in if needed without having to wait days for an appointment at the pediatricians office is invaluable. Not to mention you can text a question you have at any time. Even using this service once more than pays for itself!! It also came in handy when we were out of town and he got swimmers ear they were able to call in a prescription where we were on vacation

Worth it’s weight in gold

Subscribed last night at 1am when my toddlers croup escalated really quickly. Pediatrician called within 30 minutes having reviewed my notes and audio. She even requested additional video in order to make sure she was confident in the diagnosis. We are traveling out of state and don’t have a pharmacy nearby. She took the time to help me find the nearest 24-hour pharmacy, sent in the script and marked it “urgent” so they’d fill it right away. Under her care, my toddler made massive improvement throughout the night. The pediatrician genuinely seemed to care about my child. The best peace of mind a parent can have in the middle of the night is an on-call doctor. We will absolutely be keeping this service and recommending to everyone we know. Very impressed.

My new favorite baby item

Needed to get my infant in to urgent care and was dreading the 2+ hour wait because I have been suffering from a stomach bug. In desperation to avoid that, I called our health insurance and googled telehealth providers and found blueberry. I had seen ads for it previously and thought it was a scam so I scrolled past, but nothing else online was available for her age so I decided to give it a shot.

I filled everything out, uploaded videos and pictures of the symptoms, and was connected with a doctor immediately. He prescribed what was needed and shared really helpful tips for both issues. I cried in relief and will never make my kids suffer long waiting rooms again if it’s not necessary and with blueberry- it isn’t.

A necessity for daycare families

When my son was first in daycare, we were dragging him to the pediatrician near-constantly to get antibiotics, eye drops, you name it. It was a huge strain on us trying to juggle appointment times with taking care of our son and work. So when Blueberry became available in my state right before my younger child was starting daycare, I signed up immediately. I've only had the service for less than a month, and I've already had two visits and multiple text conversations. Tonight my five-month-old had symptoms of pink eye, and I sent in information and took care of her cozily at home until I got a call back. It is true that it sometimes takes a bit to get a call, but both times I've used the service for a visit it's been under an hour, and my understanding is it's triaged based on urgency. Plus, I would MUCH rather wait an hour for a phone call while relaxing and taking care of my child at home, rather than spending that same hour (or realistically much more) driving to urgent care and waiting there. Anyway, the pediatrician called and had already reviewed all the information I sent in, and within 5 minutes she was diagnosed and a prescription sent to our pharmacy. Amazing. Highly highly recommend.

Excellent service

I’ve had Blueberry Pediatrics for about two years now as an alternative to when my son lost insurance coverage. The doctors are great - very patient and caring. I’ve only had to use it a few times - twice for more serious problems requiring a prescription and a few times for general concerns. I’ve had rXs written for when he had a cold and also when he had an eye infection and fortunately the prescriptions weren’t crazy expensive so taking into account the general cost of insurance, how often we have needed it, and the low costs of the prescriptions it’s been absolutely great. We’re finally getting insurance for the sake of specialists for non-emergency concerns but for the past several years, the team at Blueberry Pediatrics has been a blessing and a Godsend.

Wonderful!

Our a family doesn't have insurance, so when we take our baby to a doctors visit its $80-$120 each visit. To sign up for blueberry for us it was the cost of 2 regular doctors visits! (Price is amazing& unbeatable!) The doctor I spoke to was very kind and also told me certain things to look for to make sure my child's condition didn't worsen.(I would love to speak with her every time!) I submitted my visit at 10:08pm, the doctor called me at 11:14pm, we talked for 5mins. Doctor was wonderful said it was pink eye by the pictures & symptoms, and right then sent the prescription drops for me to have picked up in the morning! (So thankful because in the morning my daughters other eye got pink eye) Definitely can say, it was the the best pediatrician doctor visit I have ever had with my toddler, recommended to all the moms I knew!

Prefer this over our regular pediatrician

We have expensive PPO insurance and we likely have one of the top pediatricians in LA area but that doesn’t beat the convenience of this service. For parents with younger kids, this is a must have. Since we subscribed, we had 17+ visits and got call back within 30min. On more than 2 occasions, it saved us ER trip. Yes, I’m one of those parents who freak out and take kids to ER for everything. Today we had a pink eye case and we were immediately prescribed meds for both of my kids. I took care of it while running errands. I feel like we have 24/7 on call doctors, which is 100% true in this case. You cannot find a pediatrician who will call you back at 2am. Count yourself lucky if the nurse calls back. If it’s something more serious, we always get second opinion from a different doctor anyway.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I can not express how much I appreciate this service! Honestly, this is the perfect addition to any parents arsenal when trying to care for your children. I woke up this morning, my daughter was showing signs of croup. I saw blueberry pediatrics online, checked it out (I’ll be honest, I was skeptical at first), signed up anyway just to see since I know TeleHealth is becoming more popular. Within 30 minutes a doctor called, I spoke with her for a little, and then she sent over a prescription to my local pharmacy.

Where has this been all of my life?! 🙌🏻 Thank you to the doctors who are apart of this program. Not having to drag your child to urgent care or the ER and to be able to do this all from the comfort of your home is so valuable. My daughter has sensory issues, so when she is sick, she is in sensory overload and I feel 90% of her anxiety of being sick is from having to visit a doctor when she doesn’t feel good. Now that I can do this from our house, it is so amazing! Thank you!

Probably saved my family

I can’t recommend BlueberryPediatrics enough. I downloaded BlueberryPediatrics when my family got hit with an unusual cough and we couldn’t get into our pediatrician. Dr. Dewey diagnosed my kids correctly almost immediately, but told me to take my kids to the ER immediately because they needed care urgently. The children’s hospital ended up sending us away, and our kids got sicker. Dr. Dewey called in the needed prescription for all 5 of my kids. The illness was severe and we ended up making a total of 8 emergency room visits in one week, including an ambulance ride! No one gave us the care we needed and all of the doctors refused to believe the diagnosis. We finally got into our regular pediatrician who ran a 3 hour test that confirmed that Dr. Dewey had been right all along. She helped my family tremendously when 3 hospitals refused. We have never been so sick, so I can’t say enough how much I appreciated BlueberryPediatrics and the care we received! We ended up needing it several times. Another doctor also helped us out with asthma medication when we couldn’t get into the specialist. Thank you for providing great care!

Necessity for a big family

We have three school aged kids. At $20/month to cover all three kids BlueberryPediatrics is like stealing. We use the service AT LEAST once per month. Just today we used an at home strep test for our oldest, he is positive, Blueberry responded to our visit request within an hour, submitted a prescription and he has his first dose in him within 2 hours of my test results. With my insurance that would have cost me over $200 for an office visit and a strep test. If you have more than one kid and you don’t have Blueberry you are wasting money and time.

⚠️ Parents: Please Review the Terms of Use Before Using This Service I strongly urge any parent considering Blueberry Pediatrics to read their Terms of Use very carefully before signing up. My experience with this service was deeply distressing and, in my opinion, revealed serious flaws in how they manage pediatric care through a telehealth model. In my case, Blueberry escalated a situation involving my child and filed a report with Child Protective Services despite never evaluating my child in person and being made aware of multiple in-person medical assessments that found no cause for concern. This caused significant emotional trauma for my family. In my view, the providers seemed more focused on following rigid internal protocols and protecting themselves from liability than on delivering thoughtful, individualized care. This is particularly troubling in a telehealth setting where direct examination isn’t possible, and decisions are being made without full context. Even more concerning is that their Terms of Use include a binding arbitration clause and class action waiver, which appear to limit parents’ ability to seek legal accountability in the event of harm or negligence. While telehealth can be a valuable tool, my experience with Blueberry Pediatrics was not helpful but harmful. I would never want another parent to go through what we did without being fully informed of the risks. Please proceed with caution and know exactly what you're agreeing to.
