Doesn’t work like it should at ALL

The location is completely off most of the time and takes a long time to update. Half the time you don’t get the text that are sent from the watch. You can’t take a picture without the camera making a snap shot noise. The texts that they send have to be from a selected text. They can’t type their own text message to you. I got this to be able to keep track of my child and when she is in OKC,OK area it tells me she is in Houston,TX. If I wouldn’t of just dropped her off knowing where she was then I would be panicking. If I could give a 0 star review I would. I do not recommend at all. But you can try it out for yourselves and see how bad the watch and services it is supposed to provide are.

Terrible. Stay away, far away.

Got in with the Kickstarter. Gave us a discount, but now I wish we’d waited, because now we can’t get a refund on this piece of crap. First one was so user unfriendly that we had to get customer service to send firmware updates while we were on with phone with them. Then, after a couple uses, it broke where the band connects. They exchanged it for a new V3, which we didn’t even open for a few months (we were using an apple watch to keep track of the kid). Last night we opened it and started to set it up, and a button popped off. We figured a workaround, and thought all was well. My son called me last night, and the audio was terrible. I could hardly hear him. Then he tried a video call, and it was worse. He sounded gravelly and barely audible, and I heard myself echo back insanely loud.
Then, I was getting notifications every time my wife (or anyone) sent him a text, but I couldn’t actually see the message. Bottom line, we’re back to the Apple Watch, and the TickTalk is going into the shredder, since we aren’t eligible for a refund. The device is terrible, and TickTalkKidsSmartwatch is even worse. What is simple in any other os takes three steps. If you can swing it, get a used Apple Watch. Or something else that actually works.

TickTalk 3 - Worst Watch Ever!!!

The Customer support is a joke. every time I asked a question she would respond “my friend says” if you’re training then how about learn the product even a little before attempting to provide support.
According to this tech, the watch basically has to be connected to an “open WiFi” if it’s a WiFi that’s password protected then your kid is suppose to get the PW and connect to the WiFi. She even said “well your kid is in the middle of nowhere, not even near a Jack in the Box.” What???!!!
The point of watch is to give peace of mind, be able to track your kid using cellular data and or WiFi. You cannot make calls, send msgs or track when watch is “offline”
This is a useless device. Do not waste your money!!!!

Not worth the price

Bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. First trouble shooting charging issues, the charging device does not work properly. Second issue, I cannot get an ATT line to get $10 monthly plan. Its requiring me to buy a new line for $40, so I have no choice but use the provided sim card and get a reload each time from red card company. Third issues, updated the software and dial pad locked out, cannot add contacts, video call or video talk is not working. All these issues was so much trouble for us to get it fix. Fourth customer service was not very helpful. Fifth, the audio sounds terrible! So upset. we decided we are going to get our refund from TickTalk. So be aware with the issues everyone. This is too expensive and not worth the price.

No battery life / won’t charge...

We bought two of these watches for our two daughters to use because they are very active with sports and after school activities and we thought it would be a good way for them to contact us if they needed us without giving them cellphones. The idea behind the watches is great, but the execution isn’t there yet. The battery will only last about 1.5 hours under what I would consider to be normal use and then when you go to charge it...it won’t. I tried multiple outlets and many different charging blocks but they will only occasionally charge. I really wanted these watches to work because we loved the GPS ability as well as the text message and phone calls, but after two weeks of frustration, we have decided to return them.

DO NOT BUY - DEFECTIVE & A SCAM

I bought 2 of these watches and they both have issues which shows that this product was not ready to be put on the market. I am sure the developers and manufacturers knew they had major operating issues before taking my money for both of these watches. I was able to get the pink one working for 2 days but could not pair it with my phone and was getting an error message because you cannot have a period in your email address. The only way to get this corrected is to contact customer service. Guess what? I’ve called them 4 days straight and sent an email to support and NO RESPONSE. Oh it gets worse the phone no longer charges! The black watch was never able to get the sim working even after I bought a new one or switched the sim from the pink to the black. Oh btw this black watch NO LONGER CHARGES TOO!! I’ve tried the same one that charged in the beginning and multiple charges and nothing. Biggest waste of my money ever! I had the Tick Talk 2 and it worked perfectly fine which is why I decided to buy these new ones. Seriously DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY THEY DO NOT WORK!!

Works for us considering the price and the purpose.

Things I like:
The price. We cannot afford an Apple Watch. This has gps, texting, calling etc. for much cheaper.
No internet access for games etc. I didn’t want to introduce another “entertainment” screen to my 9yo.
Customer Service. I had a great experience w customer service. Answered right away. Emailed verification. Stayed in touch until issue was resolved.
Things I don’t like:
Only a few months after buying the 2 it wouldn’t charge so I sent it back for the 3. This took several weeks which was frustrating.
Doesn’t hold a charge for long however, I found if you turn off the WiFi it lasts much longer. You just have to show your kid how to do it and hope they do.
We were having a hard time charging our second watch but through trial and error found it to be an amp issue w the charging cube. Charges fine now.
I wish I didn’t have to log into TickTalkKidsSmartwatch to message my child.

Good so far

Got my kid a watch that required TickTalkKidsSmartwatch.

So far I’ve mixed feelings. The setup process needs work and I think they should copy the Apple approach.

I had to activate using one website then I need to setup account on TickTalkKidsSmartwatch to be able to connect to watch but that requires the phone to be fully added to att network…. Or for you to first setup WiFi. And it’s annoying having to setup a kids account when they are a kid. Just let me add the watch and that’s that…

Overall, getting setup was very annoying

TickTalkKidsSmartwatch is not refined ex the x to close popus appear in the middle of the screen.

Apparently do not disturb means you also can’t use watch. I’m confused about how my kid can call me if inside the schedule setup…

I hate that I need to add photos for contacts. I hate that I can’t just select all the contacts from my phone to add to watch. Yep, type one contact at a time.

Very basic

For the value of the watch I’m not overly impressed with the functionality. However it’s the only tech out there that doesn’t require Verizon to function. There’s a lot of potential for improvement and it’s a good way to avoid buying a iwatch or smart phone for my kiddo.

I’d really like to see better WiFi reception, a better microphone/speaker, longer battery life and waterproof upgrades. I haven’t seen an app update and we have only lost access once due to the server going down unexpectedly. Thankfully TikTalk had that resolved in under 2 hours.

If you are looking for an alternative to more expensive options for kids 8-14 the. I’d recommend giving the watch a try as we only needed a SIM card and pay and extra $10 under our plan.

An accurate review

This review is for all of the complainers AND the parents looking for an option to feel safer as they let their children grow.

Does the watch do everything I want it to do? Nope.

Is it perfect at everything it does? Nope.

Is it affordable? Yep.

Do I have more peach of mind when my child is wearing it? Yep.

Think of this as the analog version of the newest technology.

Want to know where your child is on a school field trip? Look at TickTalkKidsSmartwatch .

Want a grainy selfie of your child with their newest school buddy and their adventures (who they couldn’t stand last week by the way)? Look at TickTalkKidsSmartwatch .

Want to see silly “Hey Dad” texts with emojis for no reason while you’re riding in the same car together? Look at TickTalkKidsSmartwatch

Need to run to the store but you want to see how close your child and Aunt Bootsy are from home after a day out? Look at TickTalkKidsSmartwatch .

Think the neighbors kid is a jerk but you have no proof? Put on super hearing mode while they are in the back yard and listen to your child be a rock star at setting boundaries.

Ticktalk for my 6yr old

Everything is working fine. I really like that my son can call me anytime anywhere. I also love that you can see his location. The battery life doesn’t last long and the device is difficult to charge. He opened the Christmas present that morning 7am and the device lasted until about 1pm. He did make quite a few call since it was new to him. He called every contact in his book. He also was texting me and sending pictures so I can’t say the battery life is horrible, I just wish it would last most of the day. Overall a great product just needs a few tweaks.

It’s basic, but it works

It sounds like the early versions of the watch had some issues, but the one we bought our son for Xmas has been good so far. It’s a perfect way to keep I touch with your kid, we used it when our son flew unaccompanied to his aunts house over the holidays, and that was a big stress reliever. Also, I didn’t have to add a line to my already astronomical Verizon bill. Like the others said it is not an Apple Watch, but it works good enough and the price is very affordable. Lastly battery life could be a bit stronger, but maybe that will improve with subsequent updates

Happy Grandma

Some of these reviews are pretty harsh. If you expect this watch to behave like an Apple Watch - then buy an Apple Watch. I bought this for my 7 yr old granddaughter as an extra safety measure when she visits her dad who lives out of town. I love that her mom and I have complete control over who she calls and txt and who calls and txts her. We also find the gps location is pretty accurate. We don’t want our 7 yr old to “plugged in” like kids with regular cell phones! She needs to be out playing and interacting with friends - this watch is for our peace of mind and for her to get a hold of us in an emergency or when she just needs to talk while she is away. There are a few things I hope can be improved on though - battery life and a few more instructions regarding use of TickTalkKidsSmartwatch . In any case, I recommend this watch to any parent who wants complete control over who contacts their child AND who doesn’t want a them “plugged in” when they should be out having real human interaction!

Great product

Sort through the reviews of people who don’t understand technology and expect technology to work like magic without their having to use any effort or brainpower. Seriously. Discount them. If yours is going offline, it’s because you didn’t set it up with the right plan and SIM card or because it’s not in network range (no different than your cellphone!). They, like all cell products can’t work where there is no service. They don’t work on Verizon network, Verizon towers run on different TECHNOLOGY than every other provider. I have 5 of these and they work GREAT. GPS, talk, text…FLAWLESSLY.
Not only that, but these reviews are supposed to be for TickTalkKidsSmartwatch ! TickTalkKidsSmartwatch has more features and capabilities than anything else in this space that’s on the market, and they all work! Trust me, I’ve done the research.
The one thing that is lacking is the ability to disable the camera. My youngest continues to use the camera with no understanding of why that’s not appropriate or okay at times. It’s the one thing missing.

Perfect

This watch has met every expectation. We bought it for our 8-year old who is now almost 10-years old and still using it. We have a do-not-disturb setting for the time when she’s in school & bedtime, she can call any of her friends or our family after I’ve added their numbers to her list, she has an emergency button, can take pictures, & because she’s so social & active, I feel more comfortable being able to see her location when she’s not home!

Love it!!

The newest update seems to have fixed the issues prior reviewers had. My daughter’s TT3 was used all day (from 7am to 8pm) today and went from fully charged to 56%. Location seems pretty accurate.
Would like to see a way to offer limited app use to some contacts (i.e., allow texting but not sharing location or silent listening).
Charging has been super fast (back to 100% in under an hour) too.
This is such a great solution for us - we can easily communicate with our daughter without getting entangled with social media, games, privacy issues.
I’ll report back on durability but so far we are VERY happy!

Great alternative to a phone

This is a great option for us as our child is not ready for a phone. It does what it needs to do without the worry of internet safety. The only thing I wish it had was a notification on the home screen showing there are texts or missed calls. The only way to see anything is if you go into the watch and then scroll to check. Kids don’t always remember to do those things.

We LOVE This Watch

As a helicopter mom with a 5yr old kid getting older and wanting their space I was having anxiety about school and him just going places without me. I’m so thankful that i found the TickTalk watch. It is very user friendly and I love that it has everything needed to stay in communication with your child without them having access to the internet or unknown callers. My favorite feature aside from the GPS is being able to remote in and listen to your kid’s surroundings. My son has the TickTalk watch 4 which is made with durability in mind, so the watch face is durable but the watch bands can break and unlike the TickTalk watch 3 the bands aren’t replaceable. I love how quick and easy dealing with the warranty department is and how fast they get your replacement watch to you if the watch breaks. Bottom line this watch gives this helicopter mom peace of mind!

Not easy set-up

I’ve set up an account on my laptop that is not recognized by TickTalkKidsSmartwatch . My child’s watch remains off-line despite me paying for a monthly plan and the watch itself. Not a great start. Very frustrating and time consuming. Now you want me to give a nickname and all are taken. WTH! Won’t let you leave a bad review. I’m not joking. When you leave one star it just says every nickname is taken. What a scam!

Good to great just NEEDS message previews

This is a great watch and associated application.

It’s great that it works with AT&T’s $10 plus paid plan that they currently offer. you have complete control through TickTalkKidsSmartwatch . You can also gradually give more control to the user/child by relaxing restrictions as they mature. It’s so nice that they have no games. Most of the time, our children are using the watch to just send a text message that they have reached their friends house or that they are leaving. They rarely call. For that reason, it would be really useful to have message previews with the notifications that pop up on your phone, so you don’t have to go into TickTalkKidsSmartwatch to see which Child sent the message and what it says. Hoping for that to change with a future version of TickTalkKidsSmartwatch . Call quality is good. The phone is slightly thick, but yeah, it’s not an Apple Watch. It’s a good introduction to electronics and wearables for children
