So disappointed! Used the meal plans for years, I finally had to drop my subscription. MealMentor is such a step down from the ease of the meal plans. MealMentor is not as promised.

A Lot To Be Desired!

You would think an app would be an upgrade to a subscription service, but MealMentor is so basic and glitchy that is was actually a downgrade. Also, I believe Lindsay Nixon and her husband are no longer spearheading the company. Lindsay was very passionate and concerned about quality, and her positive motivation was contagious, but she seems non existent now and so does the quality.

Buggy to the point I can’t use

I was open to using an app for this service, but MealMentor has not impressed. The shopping list will not save ingredients from other weeks if you want to customize your menu using meals from previous weeks, and it seems to have problems saving the previous recipes you’ve selected so you have to write it all down anyway. That completely defeats the purpose of this service as it was advertised. Users have also requested enhancements (like being able to add other items to the shopping list like shampoo, paper towels, etc or aggregating ingredients when they are used across more than one recipe) and the support team says they will explore those options, but the enhancements and performance improvements do not seem to be rolling out.

Difficult to navigate

I’ve been a member for almost two years. Was excited about MealMentor when it was ready to launch. However I don’t even use it now because it is so frustrating and difficult to navigate. I press on a recipe, things don’t save to the grocery list and I’m constantly having to go back and find what I looking for. So I just stopped using it. Wish MM would update and work on it. I dropped my subscription. There is a absolutely ZERO coaching/ mentoring anymore. It’s not the program I paid for. I feel that I have been ripped off this last year. Too bad it was a thriving community and mentor program before.

Needs to sync between devices

So my wife and I can collaborate on meal plans. What one of us selects/checks on one device should replicate to the other.

I just downloaded MealMentor it wants me to login, but it doesn’t show where I can sign up for an account. You can only login if you have an account. So I guess I will be deleting MealMentor.

Too many kinks

MealMentor was definitely released prematurely. It doesn’t function properly and is extremely frustrating to try to use. Recipes get unsaved when you log out, favorites don’t show up when you search for them, and all ingredients for each recipe aren’t in the grocery list... some real problems for those of us who want convenience and ease of use. Hoping for a better product in the future, but for now, I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Frustrated!

I absolutely love these recipes and I’m successfully losing weight but MealMentor has so many issues that have been around since it’s launch. I would think that these issues would have been addressed and corrected. This has the potential to be so much more than it is so that’s where my frustration lies. When I open MealMentor it crashes once or twice. When it finally stops crashing it takes 5 minutes to fully open to where I can see all of the ingredients for the recipe. If I want to save a recipe as a favorite I click on the heart but it can take 10 seconds for it to acknowledge that and add it to my favorites. I also wish there was a way to add my own notes to the recipes I try. The glitches in MealMentor are so frustrating and I really hope these can be addressed and corrected soon because I want to continue my subscription.

It’s helpful - when it works

Long time meal mentor customer here. I love all about this and MealMentor is something I’ve been waiting for. It simplifies shopping...when it works. I’m really struggling with it. I click on something and nothing happens or it finally unchecks after like 20 seconds. It crashes on me a lot and I just find that touching to navigate isn’t working. I just end up tapping like mad to get something to go and nothing. I also find that I like to select items across a few weeks. When I open MealMentor it only shows this week, which means the list only reflects this week. So while I am shopping I have to keep clicking back through past weeks to get my list. With some big and user experience fixes it’s solid gold. Not sure how to share feedback other than here but I’m happy to share more with Lindsay.

There’s Potential | submitted issues with no resolution

On multiple occasions I reached out to support with issues that I had come across which made MealMentor a pain to use. One example was ingredients for sauces not populating in the shopping list until you have opened each individual recipe. I sent a screen recording to Scott and he was quick to respond. However, it has been over a year with no fix or updates to MealMentor . Super disappointing because this has the potential to be a blockbuster app for those wanting a quick and easy vegan meal plan. I was able to find another app with a better user experience. Until they invest some time and possibly money into MealMentor, I unfortunately won’t be a return customer.

Disappointing

MealMentor is terrible which is surprising as I know Lindsey is so smart and takes such pride in her work.

Frustrating App

I have been using Meal Mentor for over a year and love it. Amazing recipes and I love the organization of it all. I also love the idea of MealMentor but it just doesn’t work well. It crashes. It doesn’t save favorite recipes which leaves me having to search. But the search function also does not work and I get an error message when I try to use it. Hoping these problems can be resolved soon so that we can enjoy MealMentor and the recipes as it was intended.

Frustrated

MealMentor certainly seemed like a good idea. I had hoped it would function much like the forks over knives app in which you can load ingredients into the shopping list and save for later. I have loaded recipes in twice and each time they disappear. MealMentor has a lot of potential but it’s frustrating at the moment.

Okay - so far

I have been a meal mentor annual member for a little over a year. It is nice to have the recipes in an app that you can use on your phone, so I am happy about that. However, I feel that it is over priced. I wish both MealMentor and the PDFs could be available. What I am most disappointed about is the fact that I feel that I do not have ‘ownership’ of recipes, like I felt when I received PDFs. In my mind I was paying monthly for ‘cookbooks’ and now I am paying for a service that I loose access to if I unsubscribe. Obviously, that is a beautiful business tactic but I am unsure if I will continue to renew at this point. I have enjoyed Lindsay’s recipes but now the price to use the service may be to much for me.

Like it, but have suggestions

I love all the meals. I love how the recipes are there. I love how you can choose family or individual still. However I would like to add to things or suggestions. The first suggestion is to have MealMentor linked up with apples health app so that the data of things that are being eaten can be included in your overall health data collection. The second thing I would like to add is that I have trouble using when I do a grocery shop and I get home, I want to look up the recipe but I have to then going to search to find the recipe that about the groceries for so. So I’m either I’m not using MealMentor efficiently or there could be a minor tweak. Thank you for all that you have done and set up for us who are still trying to figure out how to eat healthy even on a vegan diet. ❤️ Absolutely love your leadership!

A Lifesaver

I am astonished at all of the negative reviews... there are a few tweaks here and there that would make MealMentor itself perfect, like the option of including the “slimming” version or gluten free of recipes in the grocery list, having the meal that you selected for the week from previous weeks in one section and able to click on. The content is unbeatable and you cannot find it anywhere else. Meal Mentor is the only way I have ever lost 70 pounds without feeling deprived and it’s truly saved my life. You get use to how the meal plans work and it becomes second nature after awhile. I think the negative reviews are from people who are impatient and maybe not the most tech saavy. Keep putting these meal plans out they are great and I can’t wait to see where MealMentor goes from here!

Love it!

I’ve used Lindsay’s meal plans on and off for many years and was so happy when she made an app! Her plans and MealMentor have always helped me get back on track with being healthy and plant-based when I need it. I also find MealMentor to be very easy to navigate with helpful features. Very thankful!

Quarantine Saver

I’ve been a meal mentor member for five years and I’ve used MealMentor on and off when I’m home and not traveling. With the shelter in place I have put MealMentor to the true test and used it for the last 45 days and I am so thankful that I’m not stressing about what to cook or what I need from the store. The menu is delicious and flavorful. Best part they are simple and not complicated. Thanks Happy Herbivore.

Happier than I expected

4*s for MealMentor and 5*s for the food

I’ve been a subscriber to the meal plans for several years. Lindsay manages to create recipes that are healthy, taste good and are satisfying while still low enough in calories and fat that I can lose weight and keep it off.

I’ve always cooked from the recipes on my iPad rather than printing them out. With MealMentor on my iPad I don’t need reading glasses and checking off the ingredients and steps is actually more helpful than I expected.

As a subscriber I have access to the web planner. I’ve been creating a pdf each week and adding it to my iPad library for reference but I shop and cook from MealMentor .
