Great bible and resources

2022-05-25

I really enjoy LiteralWord and all the features that come with it. Adding a section in the menu where you can import highlights and notes and compile a sermon that you could save would be a huge plus. Also it would be nice to have an audio bible feature as well for when i can’t read but want to listen to God’s word. Other than those two suggestions I haven’t found a better app with so many easy to use features as this one.

Excellent

2022-06-26

This is a wonderful app that allows you to focus on just reading God’s Word—no distractions, no ads. Yet at the same time, you are able to sync your notes between platforms, are provided with Greek word meanings, and have cross-references—all of which fade nicely into the background. I tend to paste in notes from other sources (Kindle, Internet, PDFs), and it is great to have them in one place.

One feature I *really* hope is added soon is the ability to name what your different highlight colors mean. For example title blue notes as Baptism, green for Salvation, and so on. It would also be good to have just a few more highlight color options for the many people that categorize their Bible notes in this way. Keep up the great work, and God bless you!

Great Bible App

2022-07-27

LiteralWord is exactly what it says, the Bible. No opinions or commentary, just the Word. I can look up the words of scripture in their original language and see the definition and all the other verses where the same word is used to provide additional context. I have found it most beneficial to let the Word speak for itself through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. No need to worry about false doctrines or teaching of men!
Highly recommended for those who sincerely seek God and His Will through His Word!

Love this app + minor bugfix

2022-08-28

LiteralWord has been so helpful for me - remarkably convenient and easy to use. One thing I would like to point out, though, is that many of the cross-references that send you to Philippians do not, in fact, send you to Philippians. It's not much work for me to manually go there, so it doesn't bother me, but just wanted to bring it to your attention. Thanks!

Fantastic Recourse

2022-09-29

LiteralWord is a fantastic recourse for Bible study. It has uses BDB for Hebrew definitions as well as Abbot-Smith’s lexicon for Greek. Using the lexicon feature shows the various definitions of a word (in Hebrew it shows the word’s meaning in various cases), allows you to see all the occurrences of a word in the Bible, and allows you to see a particular book’s use of the word. It does all of this offline, something that my Logos software cannot do. All for the fantastic price of 0 dollars.

Great app for Bible Study!

2022-10-30

This is a wonderful app for Bible study! Not long ago I bought the Strongs NASB app, but after seeing Literal Word, I wish I had waited a bit. If you like the Hebrew-Greek Keyword Study Bible, you will love LiteralWord. It uses an abridged version of the Brown-Driver-Briggs lexicon. The Strong’s numbers are listed, along with every scripture that uses that word. For future development, I would like to see the lexicon as a toggle in the settings so I can keep it on all the time. (Currently, you have to turn it on for each use.) I would also like to see some Bible reading plan options included, as I use another Bible app just to see my daily reading. It would be nice to already have this feature built in. But this is a really new app ...and what a great start for a first version! Big Kudos to the developer!

5+ stars!

2022-12-01

I cannot praise LiteralWord enough! The planning that has gone into it is phenomenal. The execution of those plans has been flawless! Abbott-Smith is used as the NT lexicon and BDB for the OT. Every word found in these lexicons is literally at the user’s fingertip! So easy! So practical! So much fun! As my pastor preaches I am following along (i.e. getting side tracked) doing word studies, often digging deeper into his teaching than he has presented to the congregation. What a gift to Christ’s church! Thank you!!

Literally the best bible app

2023-01-01

I’ve used many bible apps and this one is absolutely the best. It opens quickly. It is basically just the Bible with some translation helps which is great.
When I want to go to a bible verse quickly this LiteralWord I go to. I can be doing anything else and then just grab my phone out of my pocket and touch LiteralWord . It immediately opens to the Bible. With just a quick swipe I can select a different book and chapter. This truly is the perfect Bible app!

Beautifully Simple, Breathed Word

2023-02-02

What a blessing Literal Word is; thank you for your time, talent, and treasure in making the it! The Lord knows I have desired a digital bible like this for everyday reading, and He blessed my siblings in Christ with ideas for an app that surpasses my expectations:

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
— Ephesians 3

So Pleased!

2023-03-06

I saw LiteralWord recommended by Pastor Gabriel Hughes in a WWUTT video. It is everything that I’ve wanted in a Bible app aside from being able to compare versions. I’ve been using the YouVersion app like the vast majority of people use but I’ve been converted to Literal Word. I love that I can select individual words for definitions and even see their root word from the original text. Very clever app indeed.

Very Helpful

2023-04-04

Very easy to use. I like to use it along side of a more full featured Bible application for quick comparison to about translation and/or for quick look up of basic lexical information.

It is also helpful as a first read(s) before consulting other helps as I begin the study of a book or passage.

LiteralWord is very well organized. The NASB is a reliable, old stand by for Bible study.

Reiterating the already spoken

2023-05-06

LiteralWord is fantastic. The streamlined simplicity, ease of use, and content offered in this are implemented in a truly intelligent fashion. LiteralWord is not trying to do too much, and therefore succeeds in what it does. It offers the pure word of God along with an interface to explore the Greek and Hebrew lying behind the NASB translation. It is truly amazing that LiteralWord is offered at absolutely no charge and without advertisements. For that, a sincere thank you to the developer(s).

Redeem the time

2023-06-06

Not many apps are even worth your time and it can be tough not wasting time with a smart phone. This isn’t one of those. Use this to redeem the time you spend on your phone. This has been an awesome help with studying and getting to the meaning of the text. This doesn’t replace a Bible in your hands but I use it as a quick reference and study alongside my reading of books and the scripture itself. Very useful and friends are enjoying it as well. Well done to the people who put time into making it. Sola de Gratia

Great Bible app

2023-07-08

Easy to read, no ads, no asking for personal information plus ability to highlight and has a Greek/Hebrew Lexicon. Despite it being one translation I find it being my favorite Bible app to use. The only thing I wish is that it had audio so that it could read aloud so that I can listen to something worthwhile while doing other tasks.

Overall if you want to read and study the Bible without having to sign up for anything, be bombarded with ads and read wherever because of no internet requirements then look no further and download LiteralWord.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

2023-08-08

**This review regards the iPad app**

I love LiteralWord so much. It fits my personality well, it’s very minimal and straight forward. And the NASB is my preferred translation, so I love that there is a great stand alone app for it.

The reason why I write this review is in hopes LiteralWord developers will hear my plea. Not to compare, but the ESV stand alone app on the iPad by Crossway also does a great job at presenting the text (in minimal fashion). What I like about LiteralWord is that the margins are wider, which puts the text in a comfortable paragraph so that there are fewer words per line. The ESV app also spaces the lines just a little more far apart. I prefer this layout over the Literal Word app. But I prefer the Literal Word app over the ESV app 😩.

Developers, if you are listening, please please use a similar format on the Literal Word app. Or at least let us have the option to do so. I love the Literal Word app so much, but the ESV is easier to read sometimes.

By far the best option for me

2023-09-09

Other Bible apps are too bloated and offer way too much beyond what I need to simply study. LiteralWord has 95% of what I was looking for: NASB, clean design, dark mode included, and maybe most importantly the ability to hide distractions like reference notations and verse numbers and headings.

ONE thing that would make LiteralWord perfect for me is the ability to turn off chapter verse numbers. I want to read each book of the Bible straight through without partitions in the text. That would be huge. Awesome app otherwise.

Wow!! I am blown away!

2023-10-11

I rarely write reviews for apps, but this was necessary. If you are serious student of the Bible this is a must-have app. It beautifully lays out the Scriptures and very quickly allows you to see the original word. You are able to browse through to find the right verse very quickly and easily see every use of that word in the Scriptures. Fantastic app! The only slight suggestion I would have is to change LiteralWord icon. It looks a little dated. Other than that everything is incredible. As a matter of fact because of the icon I half expected to open LiteralWord and see a clunky interface. Not the case at all. Great great job!

Phenomenal Bible App!

2023-11-11

Talk about a true ministry! These “three sinners saved by grace” have blessed us with a powerful tool to access the Word that’s amazingly easy to use! And it’s built around the absolute best English Bible translation available - the 1995 New American Standard Bible! As a pastor, I’ve recommended LiteralWord to my congregation, & despite having an extensive Accordance library, find myself using the Literal Word app more & more - becoming my go-to Bible app! LiteralWord is simply a gift to those who hunger for the Word, & brings together the best Bible translation with powerful tools for digging into the text. My highest recommendation & deepest thanks! May our Abba Father & our Lord Jesus pour out blessings on you for this precious gift! Doc

Awesome Bible app

2023-12-13

My husband and I both really like this Bible app. We trust the NASB translation. You are able to set the background black so you can read in bed at night without disturbing each other. It has tons of great features, highlighting, taking notes, it shows the original Hebrew and Greek words, you can have it set as a study Bible, pretty much you can set your Bible up however you want it! Definitely recommend LiteralWord to anyone who doesn’t have a ton of time during the day to read God’s Word and wants to be able to study whenever they have a moment! Easiest time for us to have our one on one time with God and His word is at night and during our children’s naps!

Outstanding!

2024-01-13

I just found LiteralWord yesterday while reading a review elsewhere that suggested LiteralWord. My house is divided between the ESV and the NASB. My wife would always brag on the ESV app where I would be speechless. But to find an app that only endorses the NASB snagged my interest. The more I dug around in LiteralWord, the more I can tell that LiteralWord will replace my beloved Olive Tree. I love how quickly accessible it is! From English word searches to the Greek lexicon! I couldn’t ask for a better app.

Blessings to the developers.

Well done!

2024-11-15

Love this! So very well done! Love the Greek and Hebrew lexicons that are built in! Hope we can get highlighting soon though! But other than that, I really love it. I’ve had Tecarta Bible (because it was the only one with the NASB in a nice format) for a long time and nothing has swayed me away from it. This is doing a good job of bringing me over.

*Update. Highlighting has been added, along with the ability to take notes!

The NASB Comes Alive on Your Phone

2024-11-15

I keep discovering new ways I enjoy using LiteralWord for the NASB. As a pastor-teacher I have high-powered Bible software on my phone. But for quick go-to functionality in a great translation, I use the Literal Word App! The Literal Word is much more than simply the NASB on my iPhone. I keep discovering new ways LiteralWord enables me to do quick word searches and usage analysis. Check it out; you’ll be glad you did!

Beautiful!

2024-11-15

Out of all of the Bible apps that I have downloaded, which has been very many over the years, this has the absolute most intuitive user interface of any that I have used. It is literally a joy to navigate around LiteralWord. I love how easily accessible it is to look more in-depth at a particular word. LiteralWord as well as the official ESV app are my go-to Bible apps now! Keep up the amazing work developer!

Wonderful app!

2024-11-15

I love LiteralWord! I love it’s simplicity, particularly allowing me to turn off all notes and even verse numbers (I haven’t found that feature in any other app), so I can read God’s beautiful “Letter” to me with more fluidity!

Yet, I also love the ability to quickly receive more precision in my understanding of particular words via the original languages and Bible editors footnotes.

Thank you for a job well done!
