non-standard markdown, awkward tasks, and limited calendar

I wanted to give this app a try because I was so impressed with the way Amplenote triages tasks. Basically, tasks are given a numerical rating based on how long they are expected to take, when they are due, and how urgent/important they are. This is a great idea, and hopefully as this app goes along and perfects its troublesome aspects, it can further refine this idea.

Amplenote doesn’t use standard markdown, and doesn’t support split screen on iPadOS. This meant that I was struggling to enter tasks from other apps. Because this app doesn’t provide an in-app list of hotkeys, and because some of the hotkeys it does provide are non-functional, I found Amplenote confusing at times. I think it has quite a few kinks to work out before it can be considered a stable, ready-for-consumer task management tool.

Finally, the calendar only allows for “business” and “household” as calendar segments, and allegedly one can drag tasks to one’s day to schedule around appointments. I was never able to get this feature to work, despite trying in both the web app, iOS, and iPadOS.

Top app for note-taking and to-dos

this app is my go-to app for productivity. It offers all the features of several apps combined. Easy to organize notes, and tasks have visual cues for identifying long-outstanding to-dos (while also providing the ability to set due dates and sync with a calendar). You can even keep tabs on your productivity with a graph of completed tasks. Notes stay sleek and easily digestible with embedded content (links to other notes in the this app account or external sources, images, and “footnotes”). Shared notes sync seamlessly when updated by those you’ve shared with. Definitely my top productivity tool for both professional and personal needs!

My go-to note taking and task management app

I love this app! This is both my go-to note taking app AND task management app.

It's super easy for me to take notes in this app during a meeting, highlighting important points along the way, and setting to-dos as I go. On especially productive days, I love to see my "Completed" graphs soar at the bottom of my notes as I check things off!

The ability to easily include comments and pictures within links is incredibly useful and a combination feature that I have not found anywhere else. And I love being able to tag my notes so I can easily sort down to the different projects I'm working on.

I also love how notes are automatically sync'd between the web app and mobile app. It's very common for me to write drafts of messages on my laptop and copy-paste them into the appropriate app on my iPhone (I actually wrote this review in this exact way, haha).

Again, big fan over here. Highly recommend for people who want an easy-to-use, simple, yet powerful note taking and task management app!

A fidgety mess

If this were a beta (which it certainly feels like) or available in a free tier the painful user experience might be forgiven.

For an undeservingly greedy entry price of $7.99/month (at this time), about the only feature differentiator here is the task priority gimmick within a notes app. Big deal. $7.99/month? I don't think so. There are vastly superior task managers that need no introduction that cost far less than this.

For instance, create a task. Now delete it. Wait, what? You can't swipe to delete? Nope. Click the little down arrow and scroll all the way down. Now tap Delete. Oh look, you're rewarded with the empty white space where the task was.. but where's the cursor to add more content? You need scroll all the way back up.

Stuff like that.

Action sequences don't feel fluid at all and there is so much tapping around.

The daily jots thing is an exaggerated feature - you can make a daily scratch note in any note app.

For the ENTRY tier monthly subscription of $7.99 this is a total joke. I do not believe those reviews are real.

Don't take my word for it. Try the 2 week trial and see how lame this is for yourself. 👎👎

Best app productivity!

I’ve tried so many different note taking apps (Evernote, Notes/Keep, Roam) and task software and found this to be the best in both of those.

While Roam has a lot of great features, I appreciate this app’s clean, yet powerful note taking approach to let me focus on doing my work and not fiddling with customizing my tooling. I mostly needed backlink and this tool nails it.

Having tasks in my note taking solution has proved to be a boon. But it’s also better than my other task apps because the prioritization has helped me focus on what matters!

I love Amplenote and look forward to the thoughtful features coming out in the future!

Amazing note taking and today app

this app sits in my bottom bar on my Home Screen. It’s become absolutely essential to my productivity process. I use it at work, home, church, etc. Everything starts in this app. The sharing feature is killer. Note linking is a game changer. There’s nothing out their quite like it.

Changed my workflow and note taking the better!

Amplenote really makes it easy to have loose thoughts become actions and notes that are there and organized when you need them, or even on your calendar! The UX is wildly impressive- so much so I’m willing to pay their price for it!

How do you create a note?!

Go into Notes mode - Amplenote literally does not have a “new note” button or any way to create a new note. Also, once you use the create quick to do on an existing note, that quick create field sticks to the middle of the screen, hovering over all of the notes rather than repositioning itself at the bottom of the note view.

Best things of Evernote plus coordinating it with tasks

I’ve used Evernote for years but always experimented endlessly with task management apps. I think this will prompts me to switch from Evernote because it works perfectly with my task system and with calendar.

Love this app!

Love using this app to keep track of all of my To Do lists, ideas and things I want to read! Being able to share and collaborate on notes and lists with family and co-workers makes life easier, as does the sync between laptop and cell. Definite recommend!

Rare review

I rarely review, but this is unique. I’ve been trying a lot of different note apps, and while this app isn’t perfect, their philosophy and commitment to new features is awesome. Having the iOS app and Chrome app is a killer, and the import from other apps (Roam) is flawless.

Keeps saying my “free forever” plan expired

I have the free forever plan that they offered but after a while it keeps demanding I choose a paid subscription. I can uninstall and reinstall Amplenote to use Amplenote temporarily, but it soon goes back to blocking my access.

Needless to say, under these conditions Amplenote is completely unusable.

Great app but lot of bugs🥲

Hopefully there is a more convenient bug reporting mechanism built in. It’s very frustrating

Great for to-do lists!

Very intuitive to use. I mostly use Amplenote to make shared duties easier to manage through the to-do lists, also for on the fly note-taking. Seamless syncing between phone and laptop is a plus!

Good alternative to Evernote/Roam

Emphasizes security, ownership of notes, and provides a fast mobile experience.

Awesome app!

Seems like every week these guys launch new features to continually make this a great time optimizer!

Quietly a really, really good app

Simply put, this the best note taking app most people don’t know about yet.

Ugly

Very ugly app. Makes me sad to use. The web app is better to use. The iPad app is definitely not a priority.

NOT FREE

Downloaded app and you have to pay to use it.
